3D Land was fun but I definitely didn’t feel compelled to replay it after beating it. It’s why I didn’t lose much sleep over it when one of my ex-friends made me lose it along with my other digital games.
Which is kinda amazing, considering that it dominated Japan during its generation, to the point that it basically obliterated the Vita, and IIRC even "regular" consoles like the PS4 & XB1 were having trouble keeping up (mainly because of different priorities; Western gamers like hooking their games up to a massive TV, while Japanese gamers don't have the room for a big home theatre and tend to play on the go more). xD

I feel like the “you have to hold the 3ds at a certain distance and angle” is always over played There was quite a bit of wiggle room, and distance Even more so with the New 3ds Xl
With the original 3DS and 3DS XL? Not really. Fully-cranked, the display was always thrown out-of-whack with even the slightest wrist movement. Even at the recommended distance and with my wrists, arms, and neck perfectly still while maintaining a stable image for a while, I only ever did so while also being completely conscious of the fact that my position had to stay right where it was or else things would appear fuzzy. Because of this, I feel like I (and many other people) spent more time thinking about maintaining that "optimal-viewing" position than ever really allowing myself to experience any real level of immersion or enjoyment of the game itself - especially after fatigue set in after just 15-20 minutes of "locking-in." The "New" 3DS was a... game-changer... Ugh.

Whenever I play 2d Mario games I find myself disliking the platforming because I feel like I can’t be precise, like it’s too slippery, and the 3d All-Stars collection on the Switch is just good so far but my mind hasn’t been blown. Odyssey was great though, it controls well and has great levels and a ton of varied content. I would say that it is my favorite Mario game with 3d Land as my second favorite. And after that.....uhhh.....well so far, it’s just those two.
Odyssey will suck as soon as you get the joycon drift.
@@GamersXnostalgia yup, drift is inevitable

Okay if I suck at being precise, I won't blame it on the video game.

Honestly, the 3DS in general is such an underrated console.
Which is kinda amazing, considering that it dominated Japan during its generation, to the point that it basically obliterated the Vita, and IIRC even "regular" consoles like the PS4 & XB1 were having trouble keeping up (mainly because of different priorities; Western gamers like hooking their games up to a massive TV, while Japanese gamers don't have the room for a big home theatre and tend to play on the go more). xD
@@MrOmegatronic Yeah. When I went to Japan last year, you could still see people playing their 3DS on the metro. That honestly surprised me, considering the Switch has been out for two years as well during that time.
I recently got way back into my 3DS. Turns out there's mountains of rad games that I never even touched that're extremely cheap these days, who knew?
it was my first ever handheld, and is my favourite handheld, and second favourite console. It has my favourite game, and is the hand held i spent the most time on.

I'm giving Nintendo some credit for this game as this greatly uses the 3D effector and it works well without wearing 3D glasses.
I would also like this more if there are less levels involving shadow mario following you on the special worlds.

"Super Mario 3D Land could be the title of any 3D Mario game ever released. This game's sequel, Super Mario 3D World, could've been called Super Mario 3D Land, and this one Super Mario 3D World, and these titles are so close to Super Mario Land and Super Mario World that I constantly hear people mess up these game's titles. 'Super Mario Land 3D', 'Super Mario World 3D', some people have just called this Super Mario Land and Super Mario World, but on top of that, some people have called _this_ Super Mario Land and *this* Super Mario World!"

I feel like the “you have to hold the 3ds at a certain distance and angle” is always over played
There was quite a bit of wiggle room, and distance
Even more so with the New 3ds Xl
New Nintendo 3DS XL fixed that honestly
With the original 3DS and 3DS XL? Not really. Fully-cranked, the display was always thrown out-of-whack with even the slightest wrist movement. Even at the recommended distance and with my wrists, arms, and neck perfectly still while maintaining a stable image for a while, I only ever did so while also being completely conscious of the fact that my position had to stay right where it was or else things would appear fuzzy.
Because of this, I feel like I (and many other people) spent more time thinking about maintaining that "optimal-viewing" position than ever really allowing myself to experience any real level of immersion or enjoyment of the game itself - especially after fatigue set in after just 15-20 minutes of "locking-in."
The "New" 3DS was a... game-changer...
Ugh.
@@samuelthompson8009 I fully agree. I would’ve gotten a 2ds instead but hated the fact it didn’t have a hinge, so just got the 3DSxl but almost never used the 3d. Love my NN2dsxl though
I still don’t think I’ve ever finished the 8 special worlds on this game.
Before you ask, yes, I _am_ rightfully ashamed!
Literally finished those worlds 2 days ago after not playing the game for 7 years.

A good way to clear the confusion for which game 3D Land and 3D World is to remember this: Mario titles with "land" in its name are on handhelds, titles with "world" are on consoles (not including re-releases).
Such an underrated classic imo
