I purchased this about 6 months ago. I just sold my last watch in my collection this week and am now a one watch guy with this baby (I do still have my first watch for sentimental reasons from when I was a kid. A Quartz accurist.) this watch is all I need. Just feels right.
Haha, funny story, I flipped it to buy a 214270 that came available at retail which is my grail watch, but I am on a waiting list at my AD to repurchase the 58. Expected deliver is in September. Funny how things change after a year as a watch hobbyist…
I just got mine and selling off a lot of my collection is my next endeavor. I’ll still keep about a dozen that I like but after this watch, it’s hard to wear another. You’re so right about this being a one watch collection. Had it 3 weeks and wore it 99% of the time.
@@gid-vicious : when it came out I wanted to make sure I wasn’t just buying into the hype. But after 2 years of watching, it wasn’t a reflex buy. I still really like it for what it is. My 16570 hasn’t been worn for the past 3 weeks.
A great choice for a grail. I have flipped a couple more expensive watches that I thought I was going to like more. I consider it a perfect watch...Not the only perfect watch… But there are not many that I would say that about. I really don’t like the larger tudors...Because they’re slab sided They were larger than the dimensions would suggest. I’ve got a thick wrist...Over 7 1/2 inches but I think this one would wear perfect for 6 3/4 and up… The 41 1/2 size tudor Felt more like one of my 43 mm divers...Which are fine for a tool dive watch… But not what I want from the couple of luxury watches that I’m lucky enough to own! Cheers
Two years ago my AD only had the nylon or leather strap version, so I waited and I just got my steel 3 weeks ago. Monopolizing major wrist time. Super comfortable, looks fantastic, and timing is spot on the atomic clock after days of use.The rose tone accents give this watch such a soothing and attractive look I keep forgetting to actually read the time when I look at it. You must see and feel this in the metal to appreciate it. It’ll be very hard to pick another from your collection to wear. Like Rob said, if you’ve been eyeing this watch for a while just get it.
I owned the new SMPc. Sold it for the bb58. I still like the SMP better, but it just didn’t work for my wrist size. I would buy a 39mm SMP in a heart beat. Considering the new one has been made larger, I think they should do it.
What am I waiting for? More $$! But seriously this is a grail of mine. Love the dimensions, love the look. To me it’s a perfect fitting, luxurious, masculine, tool watch.
Look up the Nth Barracuda in vintage black. You can find them for around $500, I think they’re just as cool. Still I would love a 58 if I had the scratch
I don’t think that is true, I own both. The Black Bay 58 is tremendous value at this price, but there is no way in the world you are going to get a watch of the quality & specification of the submariner at this price point, even the Omega Seamaster 300 is 2k more. The Submariner at retail is fairly priced if you can get it because people are paying almost double-retail for it on the used market so you can’t say it is overpriced, not at all. If you can’t afford it at the retail price that’s a whole other thing.
If I saved for a couple years I might be able to afford one of these! I have a Bulova that looks like they made it to look like one of of these. It wears so nice! Great video as always Rob!!!
The fact that you like watches over 40 mm is the reason your one of the main watch channels I watch. Was so tired of hearing every watch should be a 37-38 on other channels.
Thanks for the great review… Or should I say re-review…I have a 7 1/2 inch wrist and it’s by no means too small! It’s really the perfect size for most wrists. I’m glad you pointed out all the great things about the clasp. It’s my favorite clasp on any watch that I have (and I’ve got too many). Picked mine up on the gray market(trusted seller) for $3200. The Rolex Explorer and this one are, in my opinion, The best watches that you can have in their Respective price ranges
Last time I spoke to my AD manager (Canterbury, UK) he said Tudor said they had 4 big things for Baselworld 2020; 3 medium releases and one big one. I imagine that may be new versions (colours, date etc) on the BB58, and a new watch release. I agree, no reason to wait until next year now as Baselworld is dead and the online game is on. PS, I always have to check the hourly chime signal when watching your videos when I’m wearing one of my G-Shocks!! Yours are always speaking up!! 😁👍
Hello. This review helped me make a decision about this watch. I was at my local AD and I saw one in stock. I pulled the trigger, and I'm glad I did. I thought it would be small since I'm used to my SMP300 and Avenger. I was wrong. It is very satisfying to wear, and the action is smooth. The watch is not perfect, but it’s perfect for me.
I was going to buy one of these until they shut pretty much everything down from the C virus. I have a 6.8-inch wrist and it fits me just fine. Thinner and lighter than the traditional black bay 41mm Both of us are out of work and just can't justify the risk the cases getting more and more every day in my county I don't see it leveling off. Todays new cases are double of yesterday. This watch is far better than the Omega Seamaster which I can't stand to be honest. Mainly the size. It's a great watch, a friend let me try it on. No AD's open in my state as all malls are closed. Unless they go online which I hope they do so they don't go out of business. The nearest AD for Tudor is in Baltimore Maryland a good 90 miles from here. I hope things will improve with the hot weather coming. Tudor tends to flood the market. I am hoping these will get near the 2000 dollar range like the black bay 41mm used. I have a feeling it will not go below 3k.
D M for me needs those changes. Right now is almost a perfect watch for most of the ppl. The black bay line can do more in my opinion. What do you think?
I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue on the steel bracelet to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've owned for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex Sub in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it when barely 35% of the retail price - go to an AD and try one on. In-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, staggering lume.... you won't be disappointed.
I've been thinking of the black bay 41 (the non diver model) for ages now as I don't think I would ever need a dive watch or use the bezel, but for the small difference in money I feel like the BB58 would be the wiser choice. Especially with the inhouse movement and power reserve of the 58.
Have the blue one and love it!! So comfortable. And quite a looker. I was first not sure about the size - as I usually wear bigger watches but it works well.
I have been tempted by the BB58 for months, but I’m afraid that if I pull the trigger I’ll regret not going for a Submariner 114060 instead. So I guess for me it’s best to wait and save up for the bigger brother :) anyway, nice video Rob, always enjoy your clear and honest reviews. Greetings from Finland
I used to wear 42mm watches, BB58 is my perfect watch now, flaws and all. Wish it had the rose and curved text. If you are a strap fan and you don't want to spend $400 on the original, go for a Supreme Nato Black & Desert (single layer) from crown & buckle.
I look at this watch and feel nothing, yet because so many people praise it ALL the time I sometimes question my tastes LOL Then I look at my planet ocean and know I made the right choice!
I love Tudor, I have own my BB58 GMT Pepsi 41mm for about 1 1/2 year and BB58 39mm Black Bezel/Dial with Gold Indices. Very accurate, built rugged but yet it has that Retro vibe with modern day materials!! I’ve own a lot of divers and I have to say it’s worth the penny! Why did you sell your Tudor BB58 if you like it so much?
This is a great watch no doubt .... From swiss i will pick todur for sure ! :) Next model they can put ceramic lumed bezel will upgrade the watch a lot !
Anyone with this watch find the side of the watch marks too easily? Did tudor use a softer steel on the BB58? I have a ding mark on my when I leaned over to pick something up off the ground and it got caught by the pendant I was wearing / falling out of my shirt (and another ding mark when I tapped it with my pendant because I couldn't believe it could actually the watch 😂).
It's not a 'full polish' as you state - the case edge between the lugs (exposed if you don't wear it on the bracelet) is unpolished, which is a pity. Agreed the proportions are perfect, and the bezel action is great. I'd be happier if the shade of gold (yellow) on the hands matched the gold on the rest of the watch (rose) but that's my only gripe. I love my BB58 and wear it a lot. It's become my go-to outdoor watch. So good on a Nato.
I own a BB41(non diver bezel) and LOVE it but, if there had been a 58 at the AD it would have been a no brainer. As close to a perfect watch as there is imho.
I really hope that Tudor brings out some new Hand Sets. Something other than that Snowflake hour hand. I mean, would it kill them to have Sword Hands? Or their Pencil-style hands, just beefed up??

And now the prices of the entire Tudor range has risen by approximately £170 on each model within the Black Bay range at the very least LOL. These will never drop in price, you might get lucky with an ex-display model with a few scratches but that's about it.
@@shaagaknowsyou5295 I did buy a 58 for less than £1900 (not a lot less !) Boxed with papers . A trader owed me a favour and this is the price he could buy last july
I still think the ETA Black bezel is the way to go. The watch that put Tudor back on the map in the US, rose + happy face, more limited production + discontinued. Cool watch but I don't see any reason to upgrade.
I wish the hands aren't so gold reflective. Certain angles make the watch look tacky when it reflects more yellow than gold. They need more colorways for sure. I'm waiting for a non gold version or matte non reflective gold arms at least.
Nice. But not so keen on the step tapering and rivets on the bracelet. Personally I think the CW dartmouth in black is the perfect retro diver. And easier to get, with a nicer case than the BB58.
Great review, love the watch Rob! I have a wrist size between 7.25-7.5. My fear since I can't just go in and try one on is that it will be a bit small, am I better off going with the standard BB with 41mm case? I realize getting the 41mm under a cuff will more than likely not happen, but any and all thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!
Well you can’t find them at the ad. Also, will this piece quench my thirst for a 14060M “2 liner”? I don’t know... buying this feels kinda like a stop gap measure
It might just but depends on your desire for the 14060M two liner, which just happens to be my #2 grail. I just bought the bb58 thinking along the same lines as yourself, it is a pretty damned fine watch, so much so I can delay a bit longer chasing the 14060M.
I hope they do NOT expand on the BB58 line. You do not mess something that is (near) perfect. So, you don't need to decide on which one to get. You have a choice on straps and that's it!
Pedro Moreira I could see them adding the BB41 colours over time. The faux patina on the 58 is a turn off to me (and too small my wrist). I have the GMT - love it, but I suspect it’s movement won’t fit this size anytime soon.
Tudor is so much more than the "entry level Rolex". Great watches in their own right.
So true. Got my bb58 3 weeks ago and haven’t wore my Rolex since.

I wouldn't say no to a ceramic bezel and a date at 6. Looks great on wrist.
As long as it's not a stupid cyclops
See I don't think ceramic fits the look here. Aluminum is vintage and warm looking, fits the watch better.
Definitely needs a date option
A date does not belong on a vintage inspired diver

I wish the hands aren't so gold reflective. Certain angles make the watch look tacky when it reflects more yellow than gold. They need more colorways for sure. I'm waiting for a non gold version or matte non reflective gold arms at least.
Great video on black bay 58, can’t find screw driver on amazon can u send link please
Thank you!
Tudor shield logo looks like a laughing demon.
Love it!
I would take this one anyday over a Rolex Submariner, the snowflake hand and colors are beautifull.
Do you know that you can track the date with that bezel? In surviving situation
I really like the 58's
Just put in my deposit for a BB58 at the Tudor Boutique in Melbourne 🇦🇺
Well you can’t find them at the ad. Also, will this piece quench my thirst for a 14060M “2 liner”? I don’t know... buying this feels kinda like a stop gap measure
It might just but depends on your desire for the 14060M two liner, which just happens to be my #2 grail. I just bought the bb58 thinking along the same lines as yourself, it is a pretty damned fine watch, so much so I can delay a bit longer chasing the 14060M.
Great job and nice review
Date at the 3'O'Clock u rich A-Hole, its a CLASSIC!
I love my BB but the BB53 looks fantastic 😊👍
The perfect tool watch
I am wondering where is your Sinn 104 Blue LE at this moment? Looking for its review.
