I just bought one for my 40th birthday and I absolutely love it! It was quite surreal having it on my wrist for the first day. You literally look at it every few minutes just to remind yourself you actually have it on. It was my first major wristwatch purchase and the most I've ever spent for a watch. That being said, after much research, this was the best value on the market. Tudor is not just an opening act anymore for Rolex. They are in fact a headliner and the black Bay 58 is the lead singer. Thanks for the wonderful video and review! Enjoy that 58!
iv owned mine on leather for a year and im just a clutsy 22 yr old doing labour , its gone through everything with me ,like a freind tbh , its a unconscious effort to adore it every day. great video and realy shows im not going crazy ott on my watch.
I love how you said “it’s gone through everything with you” “like a friend” such a good terminology to use. Tudor started for me when I got my grandfathers Tudor Oysterprince. I only just 2 days ago bought the BB58 on bracelet and love it. Tudor is a great watch! 22 years old and you picked a great watch. I have so many watches and great brands but Tudor has a special place for me.
Bought mine without seeing it in the steel or trying it on. I received it by post from the AD on Wednesday. I cannot get over the watch. It is stunning. Far exceeded my expectations and has effectively cured me of my constant watch buying itch. It is the perfect piece, I particularly love the chamfered edges and the box crystal. Mine came on the Nato which I also love and have no intention of swapping out. Its such a comfortable piece to wear permanently. The time keeping is out of this world and it has that Rolex Sean Connery bond look nailed
I am on the waiting list for 2 months. Can’t wait to get the call. Videos like this help to ease the “hunger” as I am waiting. I loved the way you described how you felt about the watch during your Europe trip. The passion transferred to me and lets me appreciate the watch even more.
Great video👍🏼 but the best diver on the market right now has to be the omega Seamaster 300 m. Love the black bay 58 and everything about it. The only thing it is missing is a glide lock adjustable clasp system like it’s big brother submariner and it will definitely be a top contender for sure
Thanks for your candid feedback on this watch! I was able to acquire a Tudor Black Bay 58 (on bracelet) last week and I agree it wears very comfortable on my 7.5 inch wrist :)
Get one if you can, people are trying to sell them at 1000 gbp over on watchfnder already.... Watch is superb too, when the light vatches the gold tone hands it lifts your day !
I had a BB 41 and although I loved it it was waaay to tall. I have the Oris 65 and what a dream this watch is to wear. It fits perfectly on my wrist and size and height are perfect with the tapered bracelet. I recently got the BB58 and this is perfect as well. I rotate between the two every week and could not be happier.
I came upon one in Dubai last week and immediately grabbed it without second thought. The sales lady kept saying i was a very lucky man which undoubtly hard for me to disagree. Been on my wrist since then. Loving it.
I wish I could afford one of these, but I got the same feelings from a Bulova Marine Star that I received as a Christmas gift from my wife. It just fits perfect and comfortably. The depth is thin enough to go under a suit sleeve, but also does casual in style! I can get the same bang for the buck out of a $100 watch, and the fit and finish is excellent too.
Great review, and not just because you are echoing my opinions. I received the watch on bracelet about a month ago and love it. BTW, it gains 0.3 seconds per day, amazingly accurate!
Love mine but I did get a watch maker to add another micro adjustment on the clasp to make it fit perfectly. It needs a decent micro adjusting clasp. Love my 58.
Hi, I have one too and I'm interested by what you said, what do you mean by adding another micro adjustment ? did he just drilled another 2 extra holes on the clasp to have 1 more micro adjustment position ?
Great review. I really like the BB58 but really can't afford one, but that being said I have a Baltic Aquascaphe which is almost identical in dimensions to the BB58 and it wears great on my 7 inch wrist. I have found that I like a smaller watch, and since I really like military/field watches I really prefer the 36-38mm. I know people will say that is just to small, and I used to be one of those people. I was wrong, and after getting 36mm watch I just couldn't wear anything over 38-39mm. Diameter aside I find that what really tell how large a watch will wear is the lug to lug length more than any other thing IMO. Thanks for the video and congrats on your BB58. Brian.
i agree on the stainless bezel insert. I got a v2 nth barracuda and the bezel is steel pvd and i like it a lot better than a ceramic bezel. it has excellent texture and finish and doesnt reflect a tond of light so its easy to read. It absorbs light vs reflecting it and its a nice quality feature that makes my watch easier to read and easy to look at
I really, really love your Black Bay 58. My only (minor) dislike of the design is that the minute hand is just a millimeter too long in my opinion, spoiling the visual of the minute track. Nonetheless, I really would like one but it is far beyond my levels of affordability. I am currently eyeing a Christopher Ward Trident C60 which offers amazing value. Thanks for the video, Oleg.
Great video, I love when people share their own experience with a watch ! And great filming btw. On my side, I absolutely love the rivets. Not only this matches perfectly the vintage look of the watch but it also brings something more compared to a classic oyster bracelet. I also enjoy plain casebacks. It's true that some engraving is nice to see but plain casebacks are more comfortable and "slide" on the wrist better. The watch feels like a sock on the wrist. And honestly, comfort is more important than the look since you wear it more than you look at your caseback ;) I've also been looking at this watch since it's out, reason why I ordered one. It's planned for august :) ps: I subbed, great channel !
The Pelagos is the best Tudor dive watch imo with the matte ceramic bezel, titanium case, and tool-less micro adjustment clasp. I grew tired of the aluminum bezel on the 58 with the gold bezel markings. Glad you are enjoying yours though and the story about dipping into the Mediterranean with it is great!
It's always interesting to hear about watch sizes, I'm a smaller guy and prefer smaller watches but I have the SKX, MakoII and other 40mm watches. A mm here or there is not that important. Looking at the BB and SKX on this video the difference between the length of the watch is what tells how it wears more than the distance across the face(that's appearance) - Always try the watch on to see if you like it.
I managed to snag this watch on the leather strap and the AD ordered the bracelet for me free! Deffo becoming more available and certainly a comfortable piece. It would be great if they bring out different colours... The red would be amazing.
I just bought mine yesterday. This is my first luxury watch purchase and I am on cloud 9. My friend owns it and let me borrow it for my wedding day earlier this year in May. I fell in love with it then and I’m more in love with it now!
Agreed. The sides of the case are very sterile. Bracelet is disappointing to. The Pelagos has a fun bracelet, why not the bb58? No watch is perfect but the bb58 does a lot of things right.
When you show it side by side with the SKX, did you hold the BB closer to the camera? The BB looks bigger than the SKX in this view. If you are not holding them at the same distance to the camera, this "side by side" is very misleading.
@@24hourstime Thanks for the reply. If you take a closer look, your right thumb looks much larger than your left thumb. Small change in distance may make a big difference with close up shots. I think a proper side by side should be laying both down on a flat surface and shoot from the above.
I have the watch, and it’s great. My only complaint is the bracelet pulls hairs a little bit sometimes. It’s not horrible, just a minor annoyance. I wear it on a strap or nato.
I love this watch, and really wanted to own it. I have had a Tudor Black Bay 36 and it sized really weird on my 6.25 wrist. It's the inside of the clasp. It's like it's too long or something. Anyway, beautiful watch for sure. Great review.
I am currently trying to save for the Tudor BB 36 with leather strap. Its the only Tudor that will fit in my budget(around $2K). Wish I could go for the nicer ones, but I do love the BB 36. Great video Oleg!
One of, if not the best watch in my collection the BB58, followed closely by my Tudor GMT (if it wasn't being repaired under warrenty 🙄). Size, weight, performance, look, just has everything i want out of a watch.
I’ve watched your review a few times now. Just got a message from my friend in the UK. He tells me that my new Tudor BB58 is a few weeks away. I’m in Australia 🇦🇺 and can’t wait. Watched dozens of reviews and super pumped for my new purchase. I’ve been waiting 7 months now.
I walked into my local AD this past Saturday and walked out an hour later with my own BB58. My jeweler said they just put them in the case that morning. She thought it would be gone by the end of the weekend. It only lasted two hours. I’ve have always been told the time to buy it is when you see it. Timing is everything.
Hi Steve, I'm waiting for my new Black Bay 58, Black bezel, with steel wrist band, to arrive today via Aussie Post, looking forward to opening the package, and admiring my new BB58 watch.... Yes, i also have watched Many reviews.I am also a Tag Heuer fan,i own five now.
Video idea: make a side by side comparison with your Explorer. On paper, they’re almost identical in size. I have the Explorer and I’m very interested in the BB58. It would be a first on RUclips for 2 very popular sports watches with a similar size.
Good balanced review, Oleg. I enjoyed your story about your first night with the BB58. Nothing snobbish about it. It was childlike, like a great Christmas present you can’t believe you have received after so much time thinking about it. I think that kind of feeling is sometimes why we chase watches.
Interesting when you compare it to the SKX... people forget that it’s the lug to lug length that impacts comfort on the wrist more than case diameter. At 47.5mm L2L, the BB58 wears like many 41-42mm watches, which typically fall between 47-50mm. Also, I believe you meant to say “aluminum bezel insert”.
Great review Oleg. I wish Tudor would put the clasp of the Pelagos on all their sports watches. I have the BB and I think the larger size suits my larger wrist. I would love to see a comparison between the BB58 and your Explorer :)
best diver watch for me. Ever. Goes as number 2 time piece after the Explorer. Not a rolex fanboy, but I feel like the Explorer, despite being plain simple boring, is the perfect allround watch.
It’s a beautiful watch, just definitely not great for diving. It’s a desk diver which is a-ok. But there are many divers out there for far less than half the price that are far superior for actual diving. No crown guards alone means I could never dive with it. The BB58 is awfully pretty tho.
Good diver...The best ? Have you seen the Pelagos LHD ? 500meters, one of the best bracelet in the market. The lume, the ceramic bezel and the titanium...
I have to agree, at the moment for the quality to price ratio I don't see the French, German, or even Japan competing with this particular model for the price.
So I just recently purchased the Tudor Heritage Chrono (blue) and I absolutely adore it. Took it to Hawaii on vacation and owre it nearly everyday. The second timezone bezel is totally useful as I have a business in Denver and was easily able to see the time back home at a glance. I currently have the Oris Aquis (which i know you have as well); i am so besotted with my Tudor though that i'm really considering selling the Aquis and putting the money towards the Tudor Heritage Black Bay (M79230N-0009) thoughts?
This is a very hard comment to leave. I'm struggling to come up with something to say on this watch. To me its probably the perfect watch. I don't need to justify it, many people already do so in videos, reviews and content. I often think which watch would I keep if I had to sell everything and keep 1 watch to wear for the rest of my life. I know a lot of people would pick a no date sub, I'd probably pick an explorer until this came along. In an age where cases were getting bigger, lugs wider and materials more clinical, Tudor come out with a smaller dive watch, with a matte dial, aluminium bezel, tapered lugs, no crown guards, a thin case and a tapered bracelet, all with an in house movement for an amazing price. You simply can't get much better than that. The reason why I picked it over the explorer for example is if I had to wear this everyday for the rest of my life, there are places in this world I would visit when I wouldn't want to be wearing a Rolex. This watch is bought by the enthusiast because they appreciate its heritage, they get the "weird" snowflake hands were introduced by Tudor so divers could easily distinguish timing underwater at depth, they get the red triangle, the size and the vintage tapering. It brings classic design to the accessible. I couldn't speak more highly of this watch. It sits in a collection of about 18-20 watches now and I don't wear it, hardly at all. Thats the difficulty in this comment. Its a pristine as the day I bought it which was August 2018, 4 months after it was announced. I don't know why I don't wear it, but I do wonder, because I think its the perfect watch, I want it to stay that way.
Great review...still waiting for the available becoming better. Will be my next purchase...no alternatively for me on the market, not at any price. The actual Sub has an ugly case...vintage is overpriced and not of the same quality as the BB58...maybe the new Glashuette diver in the smaller size would be interesting.
Hello Oleg, what is your opinion on the black bay steel.I have been offered one used for 2650 usd with 2 year warranty from a reputable watchmaker. The only catch is that it is on the distressed leather strap.
My favourite diver right after the Seiko SLA017. But I'm not a big fan of the rivets on the bracelet. Luckily the BB58 looks equally great on a nice rubber strap.
I think it's a very lovely watch but I'd have to say it's not the best on the market because of several things no ceramic Bezel ,no helium escape valve, not enough protection for the crown & so so Lume it's just a lot of things that can be improved including the depth rating.
Watch Once-over Different people have different priorities, most people aren’t saturation divers. Also the lume is right up there, not so so at all. If it had a ceramic bezel it would lose the vintage look, it’s hard to damage in any case as the domed sapphire crystal takes the knocks.
@@paul--b the Lume on Tudor and Rolex is so so when it comes to how long it's visible , now I am use to my spring drive TUNA ALSO so I can say by owner of both it is so so IMO .
Hi Oleg, very nice watch and nice review, i have the BB58 and for my 6.75 inch is perfect, what do you think compared to the rolex explorer 39 mm? have you ever tried the omega aqua terra 38? im planning my next purchase, any suggestion? thanks.
100% right. If your watch is “too nice” to scratch it’s not a watch, it’s a museum piece. It doesn’t matter how nice the watch is I say wear it and enjoy it.
I sold my 41 mm black bay to get the blue black bay 58 and couldn't be happier.Feels like a different watch.Tudor fixed everything that bothered me on the 41 mm.I like it more thank the submariner
Walked in an they had one on the shelf in Brighton uk! 2390 if I remember rightly trouble is it was in the brown clasp style strap otherwise I would of defo grabbed it 💯
A very comprehensive, informative and unbiased review - thanks, Oleg! I have to admit that I have never before been tempted by a Tudor Watch, but this Black Bay has now made it onto my Watch Wish List...….
I very recently bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue to compliment a range of predominantly black-dialled watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 that I've cherished for 19 yrs. The Tudor is a super, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated, clinical blue dial and aluminium bezel compared to the 'bling-blue' ceramic of my Omega Seamaster 300. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. The blue really pops in daylight or in well-lit rooms and a pleasure to wear. Although not quite up there with the Rolex in the absolute quality stakes - but why should it be when barely 40% of the retail price - go to an AD and try one on. In-house COSC certified movement, 70 hrs power reserve, fantastic lume.... you won't be disappointed. Black or Blue ? Well "pays your money and take your choice".
Привет тёзка and a fellow Canadian! I got my BB58 from Toronto suburbs AD back in April. Was on a waiting list for about 5 month. Absolutely love it, the hype is real about this watch, no doubt about it. Unfortunately I had an issue with the movement where the watch wouldn't run after manually winding it. The second hand would move for about 5 sec and stop. It just happened one day out of the blue. Normal office type wear nothing heavy or abusive whatsoever. I guess I just got unlucky.. Sent it in for a service under the warranty, it's been 3 weeks now, should be getting it back in a couple of weeks or so. Can't wait as I really do like this watch a lot. Great review! Cheers.
Can you give a model # for your favorite "Seamaster Professional" . As for the BB58, I bought the navy blue last Saturday after turning one down last July. I turned it down because of fear of scratching the aluminum bezel, no date, fear of it being too small for my 7.5" wrist, and the snowflake hands which had not grown on me. I was focusing on the unavailable Submariner or the too thick Omega PO 600M in blue. I went in to see an AD about the Rolex which they did not have and asked if they had a BB58 blue ... and they did have one in the back room still in a coffin. I really like the accuracy, the color, the everyday comfort, the 12mm thickness vs the 16mm PO, the lume. I love that the price was what my Datejust cost 31 years ago. My wonderful wife practically insisted I not pass on it a second time and I'm really glad I did not ... but you know what this means ... I'll probably get a call about the Sub and I may just tell them I found something better.
i recently went to a used watch dealer here in japan. i took off my BB58 to try on a rolex explorer 36mm and the salesman said “that is a really nice watch”. so i ask myself, would i trade my bb58 for an explorer? that comment, the fact that the shop is selling bb58 at 30% over retail, and the presence of the bb58 compared to the explorer makes me say: no! the bb58 punches way above is weight, and it’s not even a lightweight to begin with!
All jokes aside: The TBB58 is THE watch that ends all searches for me...all cravings...it’s my grail. It’s my perfect watch. It’s the one. It’s the one watch collection.
MT5402 is low spec in real-world situation. 5602 and 5612 used in BB and Pelagos have better reliability, but Tudor uses that small movement for slim size. Size of 5402 is 51% of 5602 and 69% of 3135.
Great video as always pal! Just sold my Omega Seamaster 300m and I'm in the market again, but not sure if to go for the BB58 in the classic black what you own or the new 2020 blue model? Then again there's the B&B GMT Pepsi that I nearly went purchased back in 2018 but heard about the date issues when they was first released on general sale so I opted for the Omega 300m instead. And then you have the Pelagus knocking on the door too! Decisions, decisions eh? Keep up the great work and stay safe pal!
Beautiful piece enjoy it my friend. Not interested in is Rolex better than Tudor?. It's as you say what ever watch brand makes you feel good, and that is the way it should be. I have the Black Bay Bronze grey edition, and I love it although it's not for everyone. Great point of view on this iconic watch, and the dog is a little stunner 👍 Tam.
Just got my first Tudor today a Tudor BB58 in black. My local AD had the full range in to be fair I wasn't to keen on the new blue version. I liked the size of the original Tudor BBs but the black version just didn't cut it for me because it didn't have the rise good around the bezel and markers. I was really surprised how small the BB58 actually is at 39mm? Really pleased I pulled the trigger on this one thanks pal!
I was able to buy one of these from an AD in Toronto, no wait, no premium above list. The price was significantly below the asking price from Jomashop! They did only have one, but I didn't expect to find one so easily.
I'm selling my black bay 58 on a nato strap if anyone is interested..it's obviously like brand new comes with everything you would get from your local AD.
If it were a 42 I’d be all about it. I dunno though it doesn’t look small on you. And next to the SKX it looks about the same. My one and only reason to not love it is disappearing thanks to this video. Thanks for the size comparison, I might start saving.
I just bought one for my 40th birthday and I absolutely love it! It was quite surreal having it on my wrist for the first day. You literally look at it every few minutes just to remind yourself you actually have it on. It was my first major wristwatch purchase and the most I've ever spent for a watch. On a bracelet is tough but on a strap or NATO fairly easy, in my experience
I'm on a list too.

Tudor need to up their bracelet game or offer and aftermarket bb58 bracelet with no rivets and a glide lock feature ..

best technical diver for sure but such a thick and tall watch. It's just not as wearable as the 58 but I do love that matte ceramic bezel
Bought the BB58 steel bracelet a week ago, and can't believe how stunning it is. My best diver ever. Elegant, warm and nice and flat on the wrist
Did you get the black or the blue? I'm having a hard time deciding between the two.
36-40mm is the perfect range for a watch, hopefully this watch selling like hot cakes wakes up other companies to follow suit.
I wonder how your feelings about the watch will evolve further after having it through an entire summer season, rather than just fall/winter...?

When you show it side by side with the SKX, did you hold the BB closer to the camera? The BB looks bigger than the SKX in this view. If you are not holding them at the same distance to the camera, this "side by side" is very misleading.
It’s side by side
Thanks Chris! I think Tudor Black Bay 36 is an amazing watch. You'll love it:)
One of, if not the best watch in my collection the BB58, followed closely by my Tudor GMT (if it wasn't being repaired under warrenty 🙄). Size, weight, performance, look, just has everything i want out of a watch.
I love your dog. So cute! Watch also nice.
Nice review! Thanks a lot!
But they don't have ceramic bazel
Just got mine, beautiful watch and wears great, it's a two-tone watch without being a two-tone watch, if you know what I mean !
I have his watch but am tempted to get a blue one.
Tudor is an excellent dive watch by all measures but it lacks at least a date just, which is mandatory.
I’ve watched a hundred of these reviews since this watch came out and I’ve yet to see one in person.
Thanks for the review!
My favourite "fashion diver" :-)
My current "real diver" is Pelagos LHD but it's too chunky...
Waiting on my Sinn U50 now!
Video idea: make a side by side comparison with your Explorer. On paper, they’re almost identical in size. I have the Explorer and I’m very interested in the BB58. It would be a first on RUclips for 2 very popular sports watches with a similar size.
... also, it’s difficult to try the BB58 because of scarcity right now.
Over hyped watch pelagos is alot better
Great Review!!!!
Good balanced review, Oleg. I enjoyed your story about your first night with the BB58. Nothing snobbish about it. It was childlike, like a great Christmas present you can’t believe you have received after so much time thinking about it. I think that kind of feeling is sometimes why we chase watches.
I have it and I absolutely love it!!i couldn’t exchange with no other dive watch!!great video !!!!!
Thank you! Glad you're loving your BB58:)
I used to think the same until
I have the opportunity to try the New Glashütte SeaQ Panorama Datum 😊😊🙌🏻
Interesting when you compare it to the SKX... people forget that it’s the lug to lug length that impacts comfort on the wrist more than case diameter. At 47.5mm L2L, the BB58 wears like many 41-42mm watches, which typically fall between 47-50mm.
Also, I believe you meant to say “aluminum bezel insert”.
Great review Oleg. I wish Tudor would put the clasp of the Pelagos on all their sports watches. I have the BB and I think the larger size suits my larger wrist. I would love to see a comparison between the BB58 and your Explorer :)
Thanks Jeffrey! I will do a comparison between BB58 and Explorer (an I promise it won't take 6 months lol).
Wrong! It’s the 2018 seamaster 300..no competition when viewed side by side 😍
best diver watch for me.
In April, it'll be a year on the waiting list. You better believe I'll have a memorable experience if I ever get the phone call!
Man, you'll have one hell of an amazing day!
Great video brother! Congrats on all the new subs and say hello to your doggie for me!
Nah, the Pelagos is the best, especially from Tudor. The 58 is for feminine wrists
Thank you Ron! I really like that new Glashuette diver.
A mid 2000s breitling superocean 17360 smokes this bb any day
I wish I could walk into a store and try one on.
Hello Oleg, what is your opinion on the black bay steel.I have been offered one used for 2650 usd with 2 year warranty from a reputable watchmaker. The only catch is that it is on the distressed leather strap.
I think they are great watches. How does it feel on the wrist? Does it fit you well? You can always order a bracelet if you need one.
My favourite diver right after the Seiko SLA017. But I'm not a big fan of the rivets on the bracelet. Luckily the BB58 looks equally great on a nice rubber strap.
I confess, I always fire a LIKE when I see the dog but the reviews are great too hehe.
Love the watch, but love your frenchie even more.
I think it's a very lovely watch but I'd have to say it's not the best on the market because of several things no ceramic Bezel ,no helium escape valve, not enough protection for the crown & so so Lume it's just a lot of things that can be improved including the depth rating.
Good points man!
What watch at 12mm thick has a he escape valve?
I don't know where the question of the thickness came in making this the best dive watch tutor already makes a great saturation diver the PELAGOS !
Great video! I own one and I can say your review is spot-on!
Hi Oleg, very nice watch and nice review, i have the BB58 and for my 6.75 inch is perfect, what do you think compared to the rolex explorer 39 mm? have you ever tried the omega aqua terra 38? im planning my next purchase, any suggestion? thanks.
nice video and opinion, dont baby your watch !!! i have a BB58 Dark PVD
How does this compare to NTH Barracuda?
Great review! Glad you finally got your grail!
My favourite diver Watch is squale 1521 Ocean One, on mesh bracelet is simply fantastic, I love it
Walked in an they had one on the shelf in Brighton uk! 2390 if I remember rightly trouble is it was in the brown clasp style strap otherwise I would of defo grabbed it 💯
39mm is perfect for me
A very comprehensive, informative and unbiased review - thanks, Oleg! I have to admit that I have never before been tempted by a Tudor Watch, but this Black Bay has now made it onto my Watch Wish List...….
Thank you Nick!
Love Tudor 😍 beautiful watch 👍🏻
Got too many divers already, so my big purchase this year will be the Tudor North Flag 😘
Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Oh great choice with Tudor North Flag!
Love the passion. True watch lover 👌🏼
What boxing photo is that hanging up
I'm selling my black bay 58 on a nato strap if anyone is interested..it's obviously like brand new comes with everything you would get from your local AD.
I thought i would sell my bb58 when my explorer 214250 came in...
Then it did.
No way i am selling the tudor.
If it were a 42 I’d be all about it. I dunno though it doesn’t look small on you. And next to the SKX it looks about the same. My one and only reason to not love it is disappearing thanks to this video. Thanks for the size comparison, I might start saving.
I’ve just bought the bluebay 58 it’s an absolute stunning watch and in sunlight the blue is glorious.. amazing watch for the price.
