Looks like it handled the rocks just fine even if the motor wasn't fast enough. I'm just glad to see something not Traxxas or Axial, competition is good.
So excited about this rig, as a big Element RC fan this is a welcome new design. I really like where Element is going, keeping the same base platform and adding all of these new things to it. I was not expecting anything like this at all though, very cool!!
Using 1 spacer per side on the cage allows the larger battery tray to fit inside of the cage with no interference. Its the m3x16 bolts at the rear upper corner of the side panels that need a spacer.
Just completed my own built U4RC 2weeks ago, using a LRP S10 Blast buggy chassis, VRX Octane cage and Quicrun 120A SD esc/17.5T motor, 114mm Maxxis Trepadors on CRC wheels. Fast AF, silicon semi locked diffs and independent front rear suspension :D I enjoy it immensely! !!
Not really. It just looks like a Capra. It has the sendero performance, probably less considers the short trailing arm links, with a heavy plastic roll cage added on top. For a few dollars more the Capra gets rid of the heavy steel chassis and is quite light. It also has excellent portals which give great ground clearance and can take a beating. I backflip my Capra off trees ( ruclips.net/video/fsADHoNRqQ8/видео.html ) and the portal axles really allow this thing to crawl great. . The bomber is cheaper than building this thing up, and that has nice axles, 2.2" setup, and is a beast.
Firestarter that’s cute. I had a Capra. I kept the axles and sold the rest. Not impressed. If I wanted a 2.2, I’d stretch the wheelbase and on the Gatekeeper and add 2.2.
I was thinking the IFS would make it a nice U4 rig especially with the rear having a sway bar. But I'd rather just get a bomber. The Bomber is $150 more but comes with wheels and tires, speed control, motor, transmitter, and receiver. I built my Capra and it was expensive to use quality parts. But say I used $40 rims, $40 duratrax tires, $40 HW 1080, $35 dumborc tx/rx, and $20 HH crawlmaster sport... That's $175 on top of the kit, making the Capra $505 and this $475... for a brushed crawler. . Bomber is a much better deal, and the HH crawlmaster sport 550 10t is a great match for it. Bomber also looks better and has 2.2" setup which has about the same ground clearance as a 1.9" portal setup.
This is a really neat design. I'm not much for buggies and stuff but this, I really like. The fact that they're adding more strength in the common breakage areas is very good as a company.
Great video. A lot of information I haven't seen elsewhere. I just took advantage of the $100 + 10% off sale at AMain, for the RTR. And what a great place to run an crawler. I'm extremely jealous.
Makes me think of it as a smaller bomber. I like the convertablity of the element stuff. They are getting some intelligent milage out of this base rig. Smart. If ya go ifs then ya got a mini yeti. Seems like it performed very well.
I think it looks great! Kind of the same platform build i am doing. Full tube chassis on a scale truck chassis. I think that this will be a big competitor against the wraith and other classified vehicles. Great video, got me sold on it!
you can run a full size battery if you cut the sides of the tray out and move it in front if the trans cover the cage will go around the battery and you wont see it
2023 just got my gatekeeper and did this as soon as I unboxed it. I only have full size battery and I wasn’t about to spend 60 bucks for a short battery 👌🏽
Yah but that esc mount up next to the servo is so prime I wouldn't want to put my electronics in the back unless I had to for like a winch or something.
I just got some 12mm extended Treal wheelhubs for my gatekeeper and man it makes a difference. About 1" wider front and rear makes it look 👌. I want to do capra axles one day, but $150-200 for axles is out of my range ATM. I'd rather spend the money on an Injora XJ 12.8wb body. I had an XJ many years ago with 35s, 6" lift, long link conversion and coilover rear conversion. Rolled it trying things out of its capability. 😢 I miss that track so much. Want to relive it in miniature

MsHigheagle I guess you have poor reading comprehension then. I was comparing the gatekeeper, which is a dumb name (actual tangent), to a bomber. The bomber costs more upfront so I was breaking down built rig vs built rig. . Or do you not think a rig needs electronics? 🤣 if I’m suggesting a bomber I’d at least want to show how a $475 gatekeepers stacks up against a $450 bomber.
It's cool, but I just want a Enduro kit with all the hard plastic, steel pivot balls, steel wheel hexes, bent links, steel track bar mount, and Factory Team shocks that the Gatekeeper has. I'm sure one will come out the week after I buy the current Enduro smh. Great video, though, and thanks for the look at the new rig!
Sounds like you have my kind of luck. I get back into the hobby after being out for years and choose a rtr B4 buggy. Within 6 months lipo batteries and brushless motors are everywhere. Could of gotten a much better car had my timing been better.
Great video 👌 I was curious if you can die the hard gray plastic on the Gatekeeper like other plastics, it would look better black... Have a great day. 🤠🇺🇸☝️
In general I like Element's stuff, but this one is oddly proportioned (like their Trailwalker) with a high cowl / hood & a low rear cage area. Maybe I could come to like it, but with lots of good looking rigs to choose from, doubt I'd go for this one.
Wow they dropped the ball on the pan hard. Instead of running the bolt through the end ball vertically, it should have been ran through it horizontally. I made that mistake when I added a pan hard setup to my barrage. I guess it’s not bad as long as you don’t have a ton of droop in your suspension cycle
pretty sure thats just the Capra, Though Element has definitely made an excellent rig it just isn't quite what a lot of us are looking for (but after looking at that pan-hard mount I say that I might be looking at fitting an element chassis with that into my old scx-10-2 so I can but an offset front axle in it). still think the Stealth X trans needs DIG and 25% overdrive but thats just me.
@@didjterminator808 Edited cause I realized you were saying a better version is a capra: It's trying to look like a Capra to deceive people into buying it for $30 less, but it isn't a Capra. . Not very similar at all besides the trailing arms and cage other than that they are completely different.
