    Used this to help with my SAMSUNG dryer. Mostly the same, couple extra screws. This is the most helpful video. Watched the video, spent less than $30 on the belt, watched video again. Thats it. SAMSUNG people wanted $100 for diagnosis, $250 for labour, and $50 for the part (go figure). Took me about an hour and a half. Thanks so much!

    These repair videos are AWESOME! I bought a dryer maintenance kit for my Duet dryer and replaced my drum rollers, my belt, and my idler pulley very quickly. My dryer was a bit different...maybe the model wasn't exactly the one on the video, but it was close enough that I could follow along. I went from the squeakiest dryer on the planet to the quietest! It was the idler pulley!
    Thanks guys...good maintenance videos allowed me to "do it myself" for $47 instead of calling a maintenance tech for hundreds!

    For anyone still watching this video, one thing. Starting at 00:30 timestamp, my washer had a few key differences: I have the plastic tabs, as shown, but they are secured by two screws (not shown). To gain access, you need to pop the plastic tabs out, and then come up underneath the plastic housing to gain access to the screws. Otherwise, my unit was basically as shown.

    Thank you for posting this and for mentioning which side of the belt faces the drum! I could not have completely torn apart my HE3 dryer to replace the belt without this video. The pulley is also tricky and the video helped me get it right.

    My model HE3 was slightly different, but this video was definitely helpful enough to get the job done. The key differences were the way the electronics were held in place and the moisture sensor connector. But overall it was exceptionally helpful and saved me the cost of a repair visit. Belt was about $25 including shipping so a cheap repair.

    I yet tried replacing the belt on my whirlpool duet dryer. First time, it lasted 2 weeks, tried 2 more times and the dryer doesn’t spin under load. The grooved pulley on mine seems awful small. I wonder if it’s throwing belt off, or it wore the edge off the side of the puller they kept it on.

    The video is great and worked well to replace the belt. Unfortunately the display consol did not light up or work after the procedure- something went wrong and I must have damaged something inadvertantly although everything went smoothly. Any idea what might have gone wrong and what to check first after wiring ect. It turned on after the intial belt breakage and gave just a "click" sound which gave me the clue to look at the belt. After replacing the belt is when it stoped turning on. Thanks for your help.

      I would start with the wire harness and just check the wires to see if one pulled off somewhere. There is not a wire or harness plug that frequently comes off when installing the belt.

    • @bradcoish2358
      @bradcoish2358 7 месяцев назад

      FYI, for the wire harness clip, where he uses a screwdriver to separate them, please note it can be separated using pliers. Gently squeeze the narrow sides together, this will have the effect of bowing out the long sides and allowing the easy separation of the two clips.
      Also, the video shows only one harness clip (mentions two, but shows one), but there are two. Also, if like mine, your wires are securely fastened by a wire tie of sorts, the stock ties can be opened, they are only snapped shut around the wires.
      I didn't say it in my last comment, but thanks for the video; it helped a lot.

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  8 месяцев назад +1

      First, make sure all of your wire connections to the drive motor switch are in the correct locations, securely attached, and not damaged.
      Then follow these steps:
      1. Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) for one (1) minute.
      2. Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s).
      3. Start a time dry cycle.
      4. Monitor the dryer for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not display again.

    EDIT: Few differences on the one I helped my friend fix - control panel plugged in via ribbon cables and screwed installation. Model you had here may've been a couple of yrs newer. We were able to do the job without pulling the machine out, that's the main thing I was glad of. Being agile is kind of necessary for that to be a thing, but we 🐉 have that down. >>:=p

    Great Video, just ordered a replacement. Question: if the belt breaks, like in my case, is there a safety switch that prevents the dryer from starting at all? I tested all fuses/sensors I could find and i was getting no reading from the Thermistor (ordered one too). The machine stopped working while drying a batch.

    • @SenorDennis
      @SenorDennis 2 года назад +2

      I believe there is.
      While you’re messing with the belt tensioner wheel you will hear what sounds like a switch clicking.
      What’s weird is that (If I’m correct about the switch) it just prevents the motor from starting and doesn’t throw a code.

    What is the repair part number for the belt ? Would this part work for He2?

  • @kwebster62
    @kwebster62 8 лет назад +2

    I'd advise putting model years in the description. This video applied to about 60-70% of the procedure needed to disassemble the Kenmore HE3 I purchased in 2003. I wasted probably 15-20 minutes trying to follow the 1st half of the video. Otherwise, it was still helpful, but keep in mind your model may be differently configured...perhaps quite a bit.

    ? for you, my belt looks fine, but i get a foul smell, pretty much like burnt rubber. I dont think its the motor. Do you suggest the belt as an inexpensive fix?

    • @repairclinic
      @repairclinic  9 лет назад

      A belt on a dryer would have to either be stretched significantly or the drum would be hard to turn for the belt to burn. Take the dryer apart and check all the drum supports and the idler pulley to make sure they are working properly. If they look good, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to replace the belt and see what happens. If the motor was causing the smell, it would usually not smell like rubber. Also the motor would usually start getting hot and cutting out on the overload, if it was going bad.

    I have to ask. Why not just access the belt and pulley from the rear of the unit and avoid all of the front of unit disassembly/reassembly.?

    • @kwebster62
      @kwebster62 8 лет назад

      +K Webster No answer?

    • @kwebster62
      @kwebster62 8 лет назад

      +K Webster Just replaced the belt. Accessing from the back is probably equally time-consuming.

    • @Billbblog
      @Billbblog 6 лет назад

      If you're only replacing the pulley, then accessing from the back is by far easier. But if you're replacing the belt as well, the front may be the way to go. I've not tried to access the open rear end of the drum from the rear, which would be required to get the belt over the drum. When replacing the belt, I followed the procedure in this video but also took off the back for very easy access to the pulley when threading the belt. Had to laugh when in this video, for a view for the camera, they threaded the belt with the drum removed. Seemed impossible to me to do the threading with the drum in place but I'm sure it's doable.
