I was there, the only female foreigner to also perform at the Symposium. Paul was very humble and sweet. He actually was awarded an honorary prize for his kargyra. They treated him like royalty. If you'd like to know more, contact me for loads of info.

This documentary is an absolute must watch. Paul Pena's journey to Tuva, before he died, as a blind man alone is a magnificently humane story. His respect for the people, and they way they took to him because of his genuine interest in their music is very touching. For this journey alone, to a land that Richard Feynman dreamed of but never made it, Paul Pena should be remembered. When you respect another's culture to immerse yourself in it, it is a mark of great respect and the re-making of a great human being.

Some people might call this cultural appropriation, but I agree that this is a sign of admiration and respect for the culture.

Troll as a noun; 1. Mythical creature who lives under bridges 2. A person who says or does things to another to get a reaction.
Troll as a verb; 1. To trail a fishing line behind a boat 2. To look for and seek situations to troll people (As in noun 2)
When it was stated I troll more than a fishing boat... the author was looking for and got a reaction to his trolling question. I replied to his troll with a response that let him know I was ready to troll back. Some people stop at that point.

I heard that throat singers are known to not live very long. I don’t know why but they said it’s not good for the throat. Too stressful.

He was a good musician & singer & a great person but"ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT BLUES MAGICIANS OF THE LAST CENTURY."gotta be a bit objective you know, I can think of a lot other bluesman who ment a lot more for the genre (not saying Paul wasn't good or anything) but don't over-do it you know ;)and I don't think Kormiku thinks anyone is really intrested , but I gues the guy or lady's just proud of what he/she can do . and believe me there are a lot better khoomei-singers out there then Paul Pena
