I really wish that this music was more well known and accepted. I've tried to share it with my friends but they think I'm weird, that it sounds weird, or they just don't like it. A couple do enjoy it, but clearly not as much as I do! I'm very grateful to have grown up with music from all over the world. I even had the privilege of seeing Tuva throat singers live when I was a young girl. It changed me and expanded my knowledge on the voice, which I use to this day!
+Amanda Burkhart Everyone is different, and you have to accept it, you can t impose your point of view to them, of course their close mind is pity, but that the life, i have too this problem, but that not important, i found people ready to hear this kind of music, and other, well they are just the reflect of our society, vanity and no spirit mind (i m not a faithfull religious either) afterward, you have also to be patient, and maybe some will open their mind better, but you can t force people, sometime they need to find themselve the way to come to this kind of music.
Sima Yi You're absolutely right! I wouldn't dare force anybody, I just wish for them to love it like I do. If they don't, it is their loss. I can still enjoy it just as much! I am not religious either, but music heals my spirit.
Been listening to this since I was 14. I turn 28 next month. Half my life this music has been there to calm, uplift, teach, and speak to me. Thank you.
I also started listening to it since I was 14 years old, trying to survive pressure from high school and abuse from my alcoholic dad. I wanted to give up but when I listened to Huun Hur Tu, suddenly I was transported to a distant land, with the freedom wind blowing on my face, I felt such power growing inside my heart. I felt like a FIGHTER ❤ Now I am 25 years old and I survived high school and my dad. Thank you Huun Hur Tu ❤️👏💐🌻
This is the most beautiful and sacred music I have ever heard. My sister is autistic and she can feel this beautiful and moving melody. We listen to this music every day together and she smiles and is happy.
I think they play with a igil, which is an eastern cousin of the morin khuur ( 2 strings standing violin). Morin khuur is played near animals to cure them, especially mothers who have a traumatic post-natal behavior and might reject their kids. Morin khuur calm them down so they are not nervous and adopt her kid more easily. I think this music can touch something very animal inside all of us, including animals.
I'm very happy for your sister. We Tuvans know that our music is sacred. It was given to us by God in Heaven. Our tools are so ancient that others have long adopted and even improved them. Happiness and health to your family!
W letni, ciepły wieczór tłum wypełniał podwórze i wszyscy słuchaliśmy w zachwycie. Mam nadzieję, że jeszcze do nas przyjadą. 💕
There is something very special about this kind of music. No matter how bad your mood is, listening to it will always make you feel better. It just makes you forget your worries.

I would offer at the same time it helps to transcend the struggle it also connects one deeper to it. Like takes you into your pain at the same time goes beyond it. Just my experience.
I am absolutely hooked on Huun Huur Tu. I listen everyday. I work in kitchen in Kodiak, Alaska and this is what we listen to every night while we cook. Very loudly I might add. I love it.
"That's really bad", music is music no matter who may enjoy it. Try to keep an open mind with any and all different types of music, let your heart and ears find happiness as it touches you, Jim B. C.

@metal_ak4 we used to be a steppe nomadic people mixed with mongolians/huns and we were tengrists before islam was dominant. We still have most of those traditions. So I don't have to claim it, it's part of my culture already.
I'm not some sort of neo-spiritualist but after listening to this you could easily believe that this is the sort of sound that the earth vibrates to. The naturalistic lifestyle of the people is unbelievably well-captured in the music.
Since I found this video like 5 years ago I still listen to it several times a month. I often close my eyes and imagine the mongols, turks and people from Central Asia hunting with their eagles, riding their horses... I can easily imagine the hordes of the Great Khan resting at night in camps and warriors singing this around the campfires remembering their homes. This music has power, has tradition and legacy.
Yes it's a journey. this is also probably the best audio and stage performance video recording of this style of music, with the highest level of professionals. I also have listened all the way through it routinely for a couple years and love sending it to friends.
have you tried yourself? its good possible to learn yourself...also i advise you to try to play mouthharp...they arecheap to get...and its just fantastic instrument....beies your voice...good luck :)
When i was in geometry, my teacher used to play this group's music REALLY loud when we were talking and not doing out work. It was relaxing in a weird way, but it was really funny too because it shut everyone up at once.

when i have a sore throat or cold, i get my big headphones and wear them on my neck instead of ears and listen to this. clears it right up for at least half the day
unbelieveable meanwhile everything is magic ppl cannot realise it you can remotely ignite any given 3d process via i phone ..and the air that we breath is almost the same as around 500yrs before when you were prosecuted for practising black magic

i am simply overwhelmed and amazed by the possibillities of the nowadays era it blasts every dimension of imagination about whats possible i am very grateful and ne ver wanted to offend someone. this music is a treasure
This concert helped me fight through depression. Whenever i get too anxious or suicidal, i listen to this, and drone out with their voices. Humming feels so good when it carries the energy of the Hun Huur-Tu
@@Akenatyl how curious then that they are inexistant in poor countries where people struggle to survive. Only rich pathetic idiots have depression. A good kick in the butt for motivation is what cures this "illness".
Probably not throat singing, but the Aborigines believe singing stories to the land makes the land favorable to them instead of hostile and helps to navigate the lands. This is part of their belief called Dreamtime.
I left the message on their Facebook page, I also took a guess about the main key used on Orphan's Lament and asked another user to correct me if I was wrong. I guessed: Bbm (B flat minor) and others.... including keys some classical works use: F# (F Sharp) and F#m (F sharp minor)
I know, but as I told folks when I reviewed Best Live (2001) CD 2 on Amazon, you have to rename the tracks in Windows Media Player and disc 1 has Oske Cherde on track 2 instead of what it is on the video... after the Prayer
Hunn-Huur-Tur are truly a gift to humanity. I'm so glad they are immortalizing the Tuvan Culture and Spirit and sharing it with all of us. Like many other people have said kn the comments here, this is the kind of music that can make you believe in a higher power. I hope I can someday see them live and experience the blessing that is their music in person.

For all the people, who love traditional music. You are not alone, but accept that not everyone can enjoy it, especially in our time. I show it to everybody, whom I call friends and it never stops producing amazing moments. Some turn their eyes, some say they even know it aready ( kinda rare), but in my humble opinion it makes each evening better !
I had the privilege of teach and live in Mongolia for a couple of months. From since I was a small kid I wanted to go there and after I read about Genghis Khan. When I arrived and lived there it felt like I was finally home. If it wasn't for my friends and family it would 100% be the place where I would live and die. This song makes me proud of the Mongolian heritage I do not have.
Absolutely love the music of this talented (understatement of the century) ensemble. I wish it hadn't taken me until 2023 to discover them, but better late than never. I wish everyone would take some time to listen to music from cultures different than their own. There is so much amazing music being made across the world!
Look at this in another way: the internet has provided a way for you to experience this music. Before, you would have lived your entire life without hearing it! :D
Again I have to comment on this music. Several times when I'm feeling really low, I've tuned in and found peace of mind and really helped me to calm down and feel centered. There's something really powerful about this music.
Shamen throughout Europe would have vocalised in a similar manner, with hand drums and all manner of percussion before string instruments were invented, music for the ears, the soul and the psyche.Even though their lives were short in years, spiritually they were far more complete than we are today.

Orphan's Lament is one of those pieces that can speak for the very soul of humanity, of a thing we as living creatures find both commonplace and integral to understanding each other: The weight of one's suffering. :'( A truly powerful performance...
Some of these sounds that come from Mongolian music make it impossible for me to not get choked up... This is so beautiful in so many ways it is the focus of my music course. Learning about Mongolia along the way I've never been more in love with a country in my life aside from my own...
@Randall Peaslee I wouldn't worry about it Tuva is one of the poorest and smallest countries. It's also the newest country but that's just a random fact.
@@solominded lol been part of Russia only from ww1 thank to politics. Tuva has been their own culture or part of Mongolia for thousands of years. Btw, fyi, Russia itself was built by the Mongol empire from separate settlers into a centered governmental place, and until Petr 1 their kings supposed to have Chingis lineage prime minister equivalency in order to be legit, Tatar (meaning Mongol) bloodline is so strong among Russian elites, and Mongol ethnic groups are still best soldiers among Russian army such as Khalimag, Buryat. Cuz geographically more than half of Russia is nomadic group land originally. This pattern goes to also Chinese empires. All of the empires except the Ming were built by nomadic groups cuz they were more cultured due to their mobile way of life, brave and progressive compared to settlers. We always built free, respectful empires. The lack of respect towards Mongolian investment in world history is blatant cuz of the whites are ignorant, neighbours tryna deny our importance to protect their fake history but on an academic and aristocratic level they know honey. And the cherry on top is, Mongol Empire might be the most famous Mongolian empire but it was the successor of Hunnu, Nirun, Siyambi (Xiyanbi) empires, and our land has been full of culture since the beginning of time. PS: due to lack of western mentality nomad used as barbaric derogatory like it's some sort of hippie, homeless person. But in Mongolian context it means we're just moving few times a year, half nomadic people due to our stocks yet in reality we built cities, cultures, and empires. Kabish!
Completely blown away by this, I hear so much of modern blues/folk/rock throughout this! The music really resonates with me and fills me with a beautiful warm feeling! I can't get enough of it! New favorite genre!

Good night...I.am south American woman and believe me Amanda, I used to be called.by different and weird. I would like to listen old music when I was little girl too, used to like different melodies where I could let my soul fly and try to be in connection. Yes, people are different with differences in music tastes also but if you discover video like that, you can be sure others persons are searching for the same and finally, some link can be create and make this culture alive everyday. This music was the beginning of a new chapter in my life musically but also spiritually. these guys rock so damn hard. this is pure art and culture and heritage.
Had a chance to enjoy these guys at Earthdance in Laytonville, CA a few years ago... what an experience! Their sounds and rhythms were hypnotic - we all BECAME the music and as their performance wound down and we exited the huge tent , everyone was mellow and beaming... It was more than just music, it was a mass sound healing; I'll never forget it.
Quite difficult not to be moved by such a beautiful music! This music comes from the very roots of our human civilization. There's no ego here, no frills, only their own voices with humble and simple instruments. It's all about deep feelings, inner peace and find out how to be compassionate with our body, heart and soul. The very reason to be alive.

Am I crazy for wanting to listen to this over and over again? Some of those tunes are uplifting, the others soothes to the soul. So much beauty in simplicity and earthiness, what have I tapped onto? Unless Mongolian, one can't say that they understand the words but the heart... It's like I yearn to be there, I want to visit the mind and the experiences. Well, call me crazy but I'm addicted and I could hear this sort indefinitely! Makes my soul soar to realms other then the common techno/vicious grind which we live in. Best which I can describe this music: a gateway to an enchanting getaway, spirit beautiful and clean :)
Throat singing is the traditional singing style of people who live around the Altai mountains!! It is so amazing to hear it right next to the Altai mountain itself
No u are not crazy, u are just a pissful hater whose soul is corrupted with years and years of hating. Perhaps there is some hope for u, keep on listening and u might just be cured, my pissful friend.
This was absolutely beautiful! I cried while listening to some of the songs. Especially the guy on the left has so much soul in his voice. I felt grounded and whole again after listening to it. What a cathartic experience!
I listened to the Prayer couple of years back while being high.. my goodness. Completely otherworldly, incredibly healing experience. I don't have this ancestry, but it felt like all pf them were singing around me, sending me ancestral protection. One of the most memorable trips.
TOTALLY captivating and mesmerizing! I've been a musician and a teacher for 50 years and have never heard this style. Two different sounds from one voice, at the same time, is mind boggling. One more thing I'm happy happened in my lifetime.

Though I studied music at the University, I'd never heard of such a way of singing. Love it, and I'm going to introduce it to my grandchildren. 7emek I understand that it is not only mongol. Huun huur tu are from tuva, which are more related to the mongols than they are to flat out turks. Tuva is not much different than the mongols. It could be argued every ehtnic group in the area are turkic, even uighurs.
Aaron Landau You're right in that area, there are already coming from the same family except Tungus and the Chinese.Mongolians and Turks have same ancestor. It is this diversity of all things around us that my soul is deeply convinced of the existence of a Creator, and my soul is eternally grateful to Him!.
All the richness of human kind are kept in these 4 men and their great culture. WE should be deeply happy to be able to listen and should remember that humans are not only a brutal and violent species but can be a refine one... May the Great Spirit protect them all, as well ourselves... because what we listen is just a kind of prier for the beauty of his Creations...
Funnily enough, the music Kozhmyk is about manpower and bellic comparison with enemies while Kongurey is about Dzungar genocide employed by Qing Dynasty from a mongol viewpoint. But yeah, at least Aa-shuu Dekei-oo is about things going successfully while Odugen Taiga is a celebration of nature, so I guess I get the idea of something other than violence.

@metal_ak4 First of all, needlessly harsh. You wouldn't happen to be peddling nationalism would you? Secondly, the distinction is questionable and highly selective. You have to be pretty stuck up to claim that a province bordering Mongolia, with a people that came out of present day Mongolia, is a completely separate affair: "The Tuvans or Tuvinians are a Turkic ethnic group native to Tuva *and Mongolia*." - From the wiki. So not only can band members indeed be Mongolian by your own classification, also you actually don't know the exact makeup of neither the cultural nor the genetic basis for their existence.
@metal_ak4 Are you kidding me? You look at your own comments right now and knowing that aforementioned distinction is hazy, you're still unable to see that you were abrasive?
I had the pleasure to work with an epic Mongolian throat singer last month. This October I will hopefully reunite with him at the Mongolian Jazz festival in UB.
I hate that I am just discovering this style (in detail) and this band, now... I am listening to their 1994 albums on Spotify now! The way that they can have the flute-whistle overtone simultaneous with their throat singing is just... magical. THe harmonies of the opening number make me feel warm, dizzy, happy and some of my digits flex-close ... I love this cultural art and music style! Brava!

+Belchmaster41 sorry but i don't receive any message. I don't know this group, only like their music.
I left the message on their Facebook page, I also took a guess about the main key used on Orphan's Lament and asked another user to correct me if I was wrong. I guessed: Bbm (B flat minor) and others.... including keys some classical works use: F# (F Sharp) and F#m (F sharp minor)
+Belchmaster41 I think you can find most of the songs from Best Live (2001) and More Live (2002) .

Orphan's Lament is one of those pieces that can speak for the very soul of humanity, of a thing we as living creatures find both commonplace and integral to understanding each other:
The weight of one's suffering. :'(
A truly powerful performance...
so very much theoretical...
the ordinary modern people do not know what is happening with their soul...

Kabish!

Staggering use of the human voice! I'm slack-jawed with awe.
So incredibly beautiful.... I've always been fascinated with mongolian culture and history. It's my dream to travel to mongolian and ride a horse on the great steppe where these proud people, descendents of might conquerors roam. Such beauty
And not to forget the genocide created by such extraordinary people.
Anders Nielsen
not genocide.
No you are wrong.Huun Huur Tu is turkic. And throat singing is Turkics and Mongolians's culture, not only mongolian.

I understand that it is not only mongol. Huun huur tu are from tuva, which are more related to the mongols than they are to flat out turks. Tuva is not much different than the mongols. It could be argued every ehtnic group in the area are turkic, even uighurs.
Aaron Landau You're right in that area,
there are already coming from the same family except Tungus and the Chinese.Mongolians and Turks have same ancestor.
I just tried to explain :)
But I don't know english very well, for that I don't understand some sentence, you said even uighurs.Uighurs are turkic too.I think it's fine if you've said they are turkic that but if it's not I fixed it. :)
I would love to visit Mongolia one day and sing these beautiful songs along, love from the US🇺🇸🤝🏼
LINDA MÚSICA,ME ENCANTA,SONIDOS EMITIDOS CON LA GARGANTA.SALUDOS DE LA PAZ BOLIVIA Y SUCRE SU CAPITAL 🇧🇴🇧🇴🇧🇴
The "orfan's lament" at 56:10 is simply a gift to your senses.
truly!
There is something about this performance that stops my anxiety. Not only are their voices very calming, it is something about the music and tones themselves.
This is the only thing you need to listen to when you want to make the right decision.
A huge privilege to see them here in Canada several years ago, at a small country cafe, and sit around and chat later!
Hi, thank you giving yr comment about Huun-Huur-Tu Video. They might do some European shows in October as the only concerts this year. There will start a crowdfunding campaign July 13, 2020 for a book about TUVA which will include a live CD of the group. And there are amazing THANK YOUs as well. You can find all infos here: www.jaro.de/crowdfundingtuva
Orphan's Lament just punches your gut right in the feels. Not only is his voice amazing, but the lyrics are painful and deep. Great, powerful stuff. Very cool
This is my fav song- Love to a friend. Hun er drømme damen i mitt liv who is from a city in Norway. Mother love & Princess Love
🥰
Solen min enerkiendu gir er mitt lands kjerlighet. Loven er Kjerligheten ;)
just so many poignant, heartfelt, beautiful songs in this performance. so amazing and powerful. some of the best tuvan throat singing i've ever heard.
some of these songs literally brought me to tears.
you can only buy most of their older albums as a standard CD-with the exception of Best: Live, which was recorded on 2 discs
It is this diversity of all things around us that my soul is deeply convinced of the existence of a Creator, and my soul is eternally grateful to Him!.
lmao , yeah the magical unicorns are powerful creators
The creator is a "him"?! I didnt know it had a penis... I wonder what HE uses it for?
to make more unicorns ofcourse
obscure741 not exactly the best way to open someones eyes. We don’t make fun of the blind, we guide them. Out of the shadow. Into the light.
Imagination is good but don’t let it rob you of your merit.
Biz de dinliyoruz. Atalarımızın müziği olmalı. Çok güzel. Yaşasın Tuva.
I wisch i have ben there but i am stunt in agadir
Funnily enough, the music Kozhmyk is about manpower and bellic comparison with enemies while Kongurey is about Dzungar genocide employed by Qing Dynasty from a mongol viewpoint.
But yeah, at least Aa-shuu Dekei-oo is about things going successfully while Odugen Taiga is a celebration of nature, so I guess I get the idea of something other than violence.
could not agree more. AMAZING love the culture a loooooong rich history, a huge fan Thank you for the great performance
I am from Tuva))))))
Lucky you! :-)

@@Melnik.iz.Marusino
What!!!!! I got chills listening to the solo at the beginning. This is crazy, I had no idea that this was even possible with the human vocal chords.

@@JaroMedienGmbH was this book+cd ever released?
I have been watching this video over 2 years
I never get bored , Actually it made me reaaly want to see mangolia
Respect for this culture
metal_ak4 they are Mongolian
metal_ak4 can you please explain the difference between them ?
@metal_ak4 I had the good fortune of having been at this performance, and... I have returned to watch this capture MANY times.
Mongolia is truly coming ALIVE in the world. Incredible heritage! Love them and the music.
They're Tuvan, but the Turkic and Mongol peoples are definitely getting some much-deserved attention

They’re Tuvans

I feel happy and strong peaceful hearing this poetry music.
Brava!
