  • Everything you hear in this video is played live and only one instrument - the ENNER by Soma Laboratory. It is a unique instrument - more than just a stereo synth. It has an analogue synth sections capable of making sophisticated rhythmic structures, as well as a built-in piezo mic and a delay effect section with letting you make some weird self-oscillating sounds.
Bass: I use heavily overdriven Strymon Iridium amp simulator to shape this fat bass sound.
I’ve tuned the Enner’s left and right zone to play two notes in two octaves.
Remember that you can use the left Pulse side not only for rhythmic patterns, but for notes either!
All you need is to crank the Tempo knob past 12 o’clock.
Solo: The solo part is again processed by the Strymon Iridium’s heavily overdriven settings.
I’ve tuned the Audio Out contacts 5 and 4 to two different notes.
I touch the MOD contacts 5 and 4 to raise the pitch of a note.
If I want to make the pitch lower I slightly touch the upper surface of the Pitch knob with a thumb.
Remember that you can change the Enner’s sound parameters not only by turning knobs, but also by touching most of them.
It’s a good way to alter the pitch without changing its global setting.
Drums: The “drums” part explores the Enner’s Delay section with some slight effects of the Microcosm.
You can get this metallic resonating sound by turning the Delay Time knobs to minimum and adding the Delay Feedback to ~ 50-60%.
I’ve also patched the built-in Piezo output for my finger-drumming.
It gives more attack and aggressiveness.
Pad: I use the Noise contact to patch it gradually with the Audio In section (this golden triangle).
It’s a good idea to use some external effects like reverb and delay
In this case I use the Microcosm’s Mosaic #4 algorithm with the Space parameter turned to the maximum.
You can also use the Volume knob to make volume swells - smooth fade ins and outs.
    Gear used:
    Soma Enner
    Strymon Iridium
    Hologram Microcosm
    Joyo JP-05

Is there any kind of intrument like that that i can use to make drum tracks? I am very ignorant to synths and can't seem to understand them. This looks kinda interesting, but i doubt i can get it where i live. Are there any more popular options for creating drums sounds this way?

I guess the most common way these days to "make" drums is to program them in any recording software with a help of midi pads or keys. There are also different sampling tools like MPE or Roland 404.

Get a contact mic and a delay pedal and bash things
