Hey there, I'm considering getting a 328i and had a few questions. Firstly, how would you describe the driving experience? Secondly, I'm interested in the cost of ownership - what are the typical maintenance and repair expenses each year? And how much does it cost to insure? As a first-time car owner, I'm not sure what to expect. Lastly, do you think the 328i would be a good first car for a high school student? And are there any specific pros and cons that I should be aware of? Thank you for your help!

Hi Dean just wantend to tell you you are the reason I bought an N52 in the E90 andt it's been great!
I was wondering if you could make a video about a strange issue I've been having
The car runs superb for the first 5-8 miles when it's cold, after it warms up, there is hesitation and a definite loss of power 2800-4500 rpm.
Since i bought it at 150k miles ive done new spark plugs, gaskets, new disas (febi) and vanos solenoids (pierburg)
For codes, i have catalytic converter below threshold, both banks, 29F4 and 29F5.
    They keep returning..

I've found valvetronic motor seals fail more than the actual cam cover gasket, the oil runs down and looks like it's the cam cover, clean throughly 1st and change just the motor seal before you go changing the cam cover gasket. If the leak comes back then change the cam cover gasket.

    Hi bud.
    I owned couple of Bmw's.
In general. ,they are good cars ,with good engines ,the problem are the other components that fail ,like modules and plastic components from the engine bay that leave you stranded on the motorway 🛣 🙄
Driving dynamics is brilliant no doubt about that but ,in general reliability is not it's key thing on bmw's unfortunately.
I mean ,it's a perfect car for a guy like you ,that loves fixing them every day and having no problem doing that but , for a normal guy like me ,that just wants a car to start every day and go to work ,😅 didn't really work unfortunately 😁
    Great content 👌 👏 👍 😌

Agreed, well if you mean hoses and the cooling system at least. They will probably fail in later age and will leave you by the roadside. I wouldn't run a 15 year old BMW without breakdown cover for recovery to a garage for this reason. If you can accept that, you have got a brilliant car that is a better drive than even the top of the range cars out these days

For me it's the valve ticking that annoys me. If done the oil change and 3k Rev for 5 minutes. It does ago away for a bit but sometimes it will come back. I'm really debating and about to change the lifters.

I do notice that the misfire when happening goes away when the oil fill cap is open, hence the reason why I want to change the valve cover as I have a plastic one with the Ccv valve built in

Hi, I have a 630i 2006 with N52 engine. 140,000 miles now with good history, the last few years being a private garage with excellent reputation. Car runs bang on but I will be pressing it into service as a motorway runner in a few months and hope to run it for perhaps another 18 months/ 40k ( ie to 180,000 miles total by then). Its quite low revving at motorway speeds and the mpg will be acceptable. Should I have all the prevention things done you mentioned ?? Maybe a "super service" . Just after opinion, thanks

Good man 👍 but explain to me what’s great about them maintaining it ? I don’t understand that there isn’t anything to be happy about that I mean you could do things the exact same as they do and probably with more care as it’s your car and you won’t treat it just like another customers bmw. I have never understood why people get happy about a garage maintaining it they do nothing different to anyone else what did they do give it some special formula everytime or something ? You know what I mean it don’t make sense 😅

    • @bigash_n54

Hey there doc, i'm looking to buy an n52 e92 330i but i can't figure out which cars have it, i've read everything i could find online, even a bmw n52 pdf i found, the pdf says the 2006 car has the n52b30 with 190kw/255hp, some wikis say the n52 for the 330i has been produced up to 2012 or so and goes up to 200Kw too........but then again, N53 started production in 2008 and goes up to 200KW/272hp too, so when i search for 2006 e92 330i cars on the market, they all say 272HP, so do the 2008+ ones, i've been struggling with this for the past 4 days and i'm going absolutely crazy, need a car ASAP and i'd like to avoid the N53, is there any way to discern the n52b30?

Morning from over the pond Dr!
    Quick question for you.
    I have an 09 128i.
During cold start the rpm will surge by about 200 rpm for about 8-10 seconds. Then it levels off at the high idle as it should till it warms up.
I notice that at cold start, if i just blip the throttle, it immediate goes to its normal high idle as it should till it warms up.
Otherwise car drives fine. With no codes. Any ideas?

I have a N52B25AE black cover, and CCV was exactly the same as silver cover, is that normal? I had heated hoses, one coming up from the crankcase onto the splitter, one coming out of the splitter into the valve cover, and one Y shaped one within the intake manifold. Does that mean I have an N52B25AE with an upgraded intake manifold?

Dean, do you have any videos about options for CCC iDrive in an E90 where its faulty and what options there are if you just want to remove the whole unit and replace it with something else? Even if its something that doesnt use the iDrive display. Don't want to spend $1k+ shipping it off to be repaired. Most videos i have seen upgrade the display etc. but rely on the existing idrive computer unit.

As now of now using 5w30 engine sounds better and less strain thinking to go 0w30 would be better for engine strain ? Please advise me ,many thanks .
