Watching Willie playing banjo on the opening song it is pretty easy to figure how the term "clawhammer" for that style of playing came to be. This is great post. Thanks very much Audiotreetv.
Lmao, if you read the comments about “sure” before you watch this, oh man, what a comedy special you will have my friends. What a hilarious piece of work this is. Thank the powers on and off earth for such a “real” interview. Stay healthy folks!
@R. DaleNo shit sherlock. Willie Watson has been around a long time is my point. He used to be in old crow medicine show. So if you just heard of willie, yeah your'e a bit behind. Have a wonderful day, Im just glad people are listening to real music again.
W.W. is a national treasure. Glad to hear him wail in voice & on strings here. So ... I guess the drinking game word was "sure," huh? I only drink Pepsi, but my veins would have been 90% full of glucose if I'd joined in. Yikes.
Jacob Ford Have to agree with you there. Couldn't watch the interview, just drove me nuts watching the cutaway to "sure, sure, yeah, yeah sure". It's a shame as Audiotree records music with fine technical finesse and authenticity. If only they could find an interviewer with the same qualities.
Cannot stand the way this mic jockey gots to put down Wllie every chance, like, "You can start your next number now, man." If it were me I would have walked out the do' right away. Don't take that from nobody, paid my dues, time he paID his back too. I'm gone.
I don't think he meant any disrespect. Just giving Willie a heads up that he's free to continue on with the performance. I'd imagine Willie would prefer not to stand around wondering if it's time to sing yet.
He is playing a Larrivee guitar and they are far from poor quality. Made by a master luthier from Canada named Jean Larrivee since 1967, I believe, though the plant was moved to California a few years ago. His guitars are very well respected by people that know quality instruments
i was curious as well to the origins of his guitar. the tone seems to be very punchy and resonant in the mid to lows. and since he plays so close to the bridge it's hard to really get a full demo of it but i finally found out the brand and thought maybe there's an old om-1 I could find somewhere... nope. They're sought after and new ones are anywhere from 2k upwards of 4k.
00:44 Stewball
06:17 Keep It Clean
10:30 James Alley Blues
16:16 Rock Salt and Nails
22:46 Mexican Cowboy
I could listen to him sing all day
Why didn't this get more views and comments. Pure gold.
Probably because everyone got tired of the dreadful "yeah, sure" interviewer and moved on.
What an amazing performance. Thank you Willie Watson. Love the old school grass roots feel.
yeah. sure.
you forgot "man"
You listen to bad music
I learnt Stewball at primary School, way back when. It didn’t sound like this - uh huh Win Win. Willie makes it real xx

Imagine getting butthurt when someone discovers an amazing artist through a new movie
@@Ihateopp This is the nature of the internet, everyone is agressive as fuck for no reason at all.
willie looks like jim carrey impersonating willie watson
This comment caught me off guard lol.....I was expecting more "sure" comments
Dang it...you’ve ruined him for me forever
If they ever do another Woody Guthrie story they should go knocking on this guys door...
why billy bragg already done it
He played the 2018 Woody Guthrie Folk Festival and will return for the 2019 festival.
sure.... YEAH. sUUre.
Man, that's an ironic comment at 22:21 (ish) considering #theballadofbusterscruggs

Less small talk about smoking pipes, and more Willie Watson (playing and singing) ;)
the wood floors sound amazing

Three blind mice! Get real awesome job Willie!
Please marry me, Mr. Watson :-D
What kind of hat does Watson wear? What do you call this style?
Greetings from Germany
Rock salt and nails hits different after a breakup. Day 2..
He talks about his instruments, but WHAT kind of guitar is that? i can't read the headstock.??
Larrivee ... but what model... 000-something.
He has a signature Larivee model that can be purchased.
America.
Wanna nother Adderall?
"Sure!"
Seven people don't like music I reckon
If Tom Petty went bluegrass.
Unfortunately, you can't make money with this kind of music.
yea. sure.
how annoying
Interviewer is a major bell end.
This interviewer is a straight up clown! Love Willie though!!! Keep on picking my friend.

John McLennan, I'm interested in why you drew this conclusion. Not saying this to deprecate your question, I'm legitimately interested.
