Almost a decade later, this is still one of my very favorite concerts on RUclips. Absolutely fantastic. I heard Rhododendron on The Current last week and had to go listen to more... and more... fantastic.
Same I’ve been watching since I saw them at a residency where they played for a week in my town! That was 2014ish. I watch this performance multiple times a year since then haha

I have been coming back to this video for nearly 10 years now. Crazy how time flies and at the same things seem so long ago. Always a reminder to not take our youth for granted.
@Tay - Yes. The audio is great on this video. One of the nice things about the acoustics of the great outdoors, there are no strong reflections from walls and ceilings, and low-frequency resonances are minimized.
This is my all-time favorite band. Alynda Segarra has the most beautiful, unique voice I have ever heard. It lights inspiration and introspection. When I saw Hurray for the Riff Raff live, tears streamed down my face the whole show. Thank you for putting out these amazing tunes. And of course, it's out of the badass City of New Orleans! Keep rocking!
The fiddle player is a perfect fit for the band. He plays tastefully and never hits a bad note. We were lucky to see them in Charlottesville last September. Hope to see again soon.
Nautilus1972 i wouldn't be so quick to make that correction... yosi is openly transgender and i have not read anywhere that states how yosi identifies... i have not had the privilege to meet these fines people, so i don't know myself.... no matter; they jam :-)
Raymond Lee I understand it can be difficult for others to understand all the complexities and proper etiquette regarding LGBTQ individuals... However, it is important to do our best to respect and ease the immense struggle that comes from being born into a body that that does feel like your own and a world that (mostly) does not understand you. Sensitivity and an eagerness to be respectful truly goes a long way, even if we don't always says the right thing. Gender pronouns may seem like semantics to you but try to consider how huge of an issue it may be to a trans person. Would you like it if people referred to you as "her" (assuming you identify as a "him")? Would you not correct them? I would imagine that any discomfort that mistake might cause you would be greatly magnified for a trans individual. If it's such a little deal to you (and a potentially big deal to them) then how easy it would be to ease that struggle/pain, if only just a bit! Seems well worth it to me. Just some food for thought... Also, Yosi is indeed wonderful! As is the entire band... I'm so in love, can't wait to see them live! :D
+Beverly Jordan Idk, the fiddle is good but it could be a lot flasheir at parts (on solos). I agree it's perfect when it's accompanying the vocals, but when the fiddle is soloing, I want a little more than just the melody...
I was lucky enough to see Ms Alyndra Lee singing solo in Tucson tonight, and I'm happy to report that she's still a wonder, with a peerless voice that brings to mind Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders.
What a great show. What I really love about Alynda (aside from that one of a kind voice) is how they're always evolving and experimenting with the sound of Hurray for the Riff Raff. The last few albums are wildly different, but each is unmistakable as Hurray. I get excited for each record because I never know what the surprise will be!
Came here & didn't know what to expect, it started good & then the fiddle kicked in!!! Can't beat a good fiddle! I can honestly say I liked EVERY single song, the cover song was amazing! Anyone else think she is extremely cute?? Definitely a band I will be following! Thumbs up!!
I just this band on Letterman--never watch but fell asleep after Big Brother and heard this band on a fluke...LOVE THEM! TY for posting--I will be buying their albums. They are so refreshing and so GOOD.
Fantastic set! I'm not normally a country fan, but after seeing them open for Alabama Shakes earlier this week, I have changed my mind. Hurray, indeed.
Saw them in Nashville this week - they opened for Amos Lee - and was really impressed with Alynda and the band. It's sometimes hard to get into an opening act when your unfamiliar with them more than ready for the main event but they kept my attention all the way through the set. Lead singer is very personable.
Just had a painful breakup with someone I spent the best years of my life so far with and cared for deeply. A friend introduced me to your music, I'm so glad she did. It's the only thing close to understanding what I'm feeling. Thank you.
Wauu, today was another lucky day in my life, I've discovered this band, they are really great. i can't judege like other people, but I can say that they only send emotions to my ears. Thanks for sharing, hope to hear them in Romania
First heard of Hurray for the Riff Raff a couple of days ago. Loved your music right away. This is my second time listening to this webcast. You guys are awesome!
I made a comment a few weeks ago about you guys ,,,and my beautiful daughter must have seen it..I am now a proud owner of hurray for the riff raff cd.....don't ask me who I love the most...you are all great xxx
I am going to hold you to the house party PROMISE!! I'm stalking your schedule now and I will figure it out before yall get to famous and cool for us. love your music!!
First time hearing you guys... and I got to see it live... :) Saint Rock Blues = amazing! GAHHHHHH LOVE IT!!!! That soul filled goodness! I could go on and on... Keep on writing, never stop!

Yeah there playing in Madison WI next weekend for free but they have so many albums now hopefully there just as good as the first two!

Yeah man love it think I stumbled across this when there was like a few thousand views
Same, have loved coming back to this video over the years!
I wonder how many times I've watched this over the years.
I'm back after a 5 year break. When its time its time!
I must be into tree figures for listening to this now!
haha i think maybe only 20000 people is responsible for 800k views
If you're like me it's been like a gazillion times

Completely agree
Same dude. 10 year anniversary just around the bend
Learned of this band from KPCC radio station, sure like them...
Likewise, I just keep coming back to this performance.
Her voice is Addicting !!
I've booked them to play in Glasgow. Just a few days to go and I can't wait.
The sound guys really did a good job to records and filter all the noise out.
glad to know the resonate hipster is here to chime in
@@skateboards5298 He resonated with me as well!

I just love Hurray for the Riff Raff, so happy I found this great band. I could listen to her beautiful voice all day.

This is very seriously one of my favorite things of all time. It turns off my internet ADD and slows things down
I will never stop watching this set.
his melodies very good ! not every day you hear music like this. Greetings from Argentina
Heard this bands names for years, literally took 1 minute to be a fan
Add me to that!
right!! lol.. same here
Exactly.
I'm listening to this album this morning. It still comes across as fresh and personal.
I didn't think beautiful voices like that existed anymore! Amazing band
What a singer and songwriter. Blown away and this was years ago. New "Life on Earth" album is great.
The fiddle player is a perfect fit for the band. He plays tastefully and never hits a bad note. We were lucky to see them in Charlottesville last September. Hope to see again soon.
He ?? That's Alynda's GF.

No one and nothing brings my heart more joy.

that's awesome I hope to see them some time. Nearest place I could see them is maybe Spokane or the Gorge amphitheater. if they ever play it.
Almost a decade later also and is still one of my favorite concerts on youtube! So Genuine so good!

Wow. Just Wow. What a great sounding band and an excellent video. And this gal behind the guitar is breakin' my heart.
still one of my all time favorite live performances
They're badass now...and then. I'm glad I caught them early...and glad they've blown up. Can't wait to see them in San Fran.
Fantastic set! I'm not normally a country fan, but after seeing them open for Alabama Shakes earlier this week, I have changed my mind. Hurray, indeed.
I just adore her voice. Mesmerizing and authentic. Bravo
19:12 - can you imagine this band doing a collab with Pearl Jam on this song.
Brain melting epic.
Loving that Alynda Lee. What a grand voice!
don't. just don't. Keep Eddie Vedder away from her please.
Still my fav iteration of the band...what a gift this session is! (btw, I did get the album on Amazon after hearing this too :) )
This is definitely the best this band ever sounded. It's not that their new stuff is bad, but this hits me so much more.
Yep, i didn't even knew that this band iterated so much but .. feels like the best they ever were.
Why Amazon? Clearly you need to listen more closely to the anti-capitalist, pro-people lyrics of their new music
I love this. I'm from East L.A., gang capital of the world, but I'm gonna share your music with my students. They need to hear this.
Arturo Lopez So cool to be sharing musical traditions with students who may not have ever even heard them!
390K views and no comments? Guess it's up to me to say this is pretty darn fabulous.

I have listen to this concert 100 times, and i could play it 100 more times. Its really cool
I love this band and their music! I can listen to them for days on end. Wow!
I always come back to this.. oh so dang good!
Listening to you guys can always bring me out of my darkest thoughts.
Such a fine band with strong material! Been a great 36 minutes, look forward to many more! Thank you for the post.
Awesome tune and performance. Almost feels like I'm in New Orleans.
Sweet sounding waves. Excellent voice by the main singer. The violin adds a sweet folk sound and the drums and bass give the music it's roots.
Love her sound!!!! Great band!!! GREAT MUSIC!!
Her vocal vibrato is amazing!
Agreed.
Best 36 minutes I've ever spent on youtube.
Absolutely bang on ..
I love this so much! Alynda is so great, I just love her stuff.
I love 'Look Out Mama' - so addictive!

well said.
batca ioana .
I love these people. I'm from Louisiana and lived in New Orleans for 4 years and I am sure Alynda has melded with the city.
Just found and heard of y'all today! I could listen to y'all all day!
I didn't listen something like that since I heard Ella Fitzgerald by first time.
My top three favorite set to listen too
I love all this...
Beautiful. Great sound quality. Excellent location. GoOD job

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time
my sister told me about this band this evening. THEY GOOD! They cheered my February Grey evening
What an amazing singing voice! Very talented band! I predict big things for them in the future!
They're musicians. They don't wear these clothes for stage, it's who they are. Artists man!
Maybe too big … I get the sense that they're kinda getting walked all over on by certain very powerful corporate interests and are probably making decisions that they will regret in the long run. I say this with the lead-in to a video entitled "Hurray For The Riff Raff at American Songbook" in mind. You know "Sponsored by Prudential Investment Management" which is a *mega* corporation having exactly one single purpose which, since it is a publicly traded company, is the only allowed purpose they can have: "To fully maximize profit with not *one single hint* of reflection or regards to any possible collateral damage obtaining that goal may engender, whether foreseeable or not".
Another "unknown" is a singer-songwriter named "Sharon Van Etten" (actually she can't sing to save her life but she does a good job at the songwriting part). For some reason or other, whenever I run into anything to do with her it's always "Sponsored by American Express" or something (maybe a different mega corp.). Now either daddy's a real Big Shot over at A.E. or else A.E.'s bankrolling her (with interest naturally) while she pursues a (very unlikely) career as a singer-songwriter. But if the backing had been from a company that actually *knew a thing or two about the music business*, unlike A.E., then she'd probably have a fighting chance. But as it is I see her in *major debt* before long and then it's waitressing near 24/7 to pay it back (unless she gets hit up with some *major* luck).
An example of a band that's not being pushed around and seem very clever and well organized is an ensemble called "GoGo Penguin". A superb group to begin with, I researched their backing and label and so on. Eventually when I posted one of their videos (on another channel) I knew exactly what to put down for the copyright. And it was THEIR label that came up as owner and *not* (as in the case of HFTRR) some vague statement about the music being "administered" by various unknown "rights and interest groups".
In fact, when I posted that song of HFTRR's, again on that same channel, I searched and searched and could not find out who owned the copyright! So instead I just put *"©Hurray For The Riff Raff - 2014"* which I knew was wrong, but for the life of me I could not find out who owns the copyright for their works!

Just discovered this band - and this girl! Awesome.
I don't know how I found you but I love your stuff.
What a delight - sweet music by the levee. I've gotta see you guys live some time.
just plain good music
So happy to have stumbled upon this. Love the sound. Fantastic! :)
This band is amazing!!! Thank you guys!!! (From Brazil!)
A couple of things to note - Beautiful song and performance - V V cute - was a Harmony H165 and now a Kay. I likey....
Accidentally clicked into Awesomeness
You’re telling me. It’s like having your breath taken away. Goddamn.
Perhaps the best ever song ever sung x
I heard you on Loose Ends on BBC Radio Four this evening, went to your web site to find out more and ended up here. Stunning voice, great band. Next stop, Amazon.
Seen you at the green man festival, and am an even bigger fan now. Made my night, thank you
Stumbled on this completely by accident, looking for TVZ footage. Really glad I did.
So amazing. So full of good mojo :)
So glad I stumbled upon this.
