Love Willie. Watching video of him is interesting because dude looks perpetually bewildered.
Willie is an angel sent here to tell us about how we're doing it wrong and to show us how beautiful it can be.
I've seen the man a few times and met him a few times. I enjoyed all immensely.
If I had my way I would've watched the ballad of buster scruggs sooner because it lead me to this man who has an amazing voice and very intellectual
Thank god for Ballad, I wouldn't know this man if not for that movie.
likewise. he is quite enjoyable
Exactly. That’s how I got here too. The Cohen Bros (geniuses) gave us that polished final scene in The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and the duet wit Tim Blake Nelson (actor, singing) was dubbed perfectly with the cowboy in the black suit. Right on!
Willie Watson melts my heart ! 💖 A beautiful man. oh and he's a master of his class too...one of the very best.
Oh my...what a voice. Absolutely mesmerizing performer. The guy is going to be a legend.
Man don’t ever stop playin absolutely love your music
Man, the Coens can do no wrong. This man is an exceptional singer and guitar player +harp and whatever else, and keeping folk and the blues alive, just as amazing as it’s ever been. I’ve been listening to Willie non stop lately
Jordan Hedington who are the Coens? Sorry Im not hip.
@lance uppercut - well friend, the Coen brothers are a pair of filmmakers, brilliant ones, known for movies like Fargo, no country for old men, and most recently, the ballad of buster scruggs, a movie they did for Netflix. Willie was cast as an old western gunslinger “the kid”. You should definitely check out their work! They also have great taste in music evidently
Jordan Hedington ah! I am most certainly acquainted with those Coens! I didnt realize Willie Watson was associated with one of their films.. I will def research further! Thank you!
What an amazing performance. Thank you Willie Watson. Great set.
When a singer can sound this Amazing live is just incredible this leaves me speechless.
Hey Willie. It's like you came out of the past it's a very refreshing perspective. I'm an irish fella really enjoying your music ever since inside Lewyn davis concert
Willie! Saw you in Pittsburgh twice, once with the Wood Brothers. Never stop
Old crow Medicine show lost its moxie after Willie left.. that group was never the same again and now they are nevermore.
yes. sad but true
Agree. His voice and presentation was integral.
As badly as i hate to say it. OCMS has kimd of became a little mainstream poppy sounding. Granted they're still great, but.more country/bluegrass sounding than folky/bluegrass like when Willie was there. He played a show in my town in this little venue. The tickets sold out in 40 minutes. It was nuts. He hasnt been back since 😢 Willie is my absolute favorite. I'm so glad we have him carrying the traditional folk music forward.
Great job! It's nice to hear you doing such great music. I always enjoy you!
Love his voice and choice of old tunes. Also, that precision on the clawhammer stick is damn fine! Good stuff dude!
This man is a legend and he doesn't even no it! Loved this to much man
it's took over my ears
Know he doesn't!
Agreed. This dude needs to be far better known than he is. He's a remarkable talent with a very unique voice.
YES!
Excellent voice and cool banjo / guitar playing! Nice work Willie Watson!
Gallows pole is definitely one of your best Willie, Great job on all your music Loved them all.....
equalizing both guitar and vocals in a primordial soup of inspiration and intonation! BRAVO! Giddy Up!
Knew Willie back from his early days with Old Crow Medicine Show, glad to see he's still making music and has evolved into a fantastic solo artist.
woah, had no clue he was in old crow! TY
@@erenyeager6513 some of the best songs of ocms when he was with them
Have to check it out! Ha
Did you catch him in "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs"?
He also plays with David Rawlings Machine.
Last song is an English folk song - there was an elderly lady who used tovsing it the bar of my local pub in English folky style - used to make us all blub
Yep its been remade by many artists.
Appears on Zeppelin III too
I've heard it sung a number of times in Devonshire dive bars, it's amazing to hear different versions of it
This man is fabulous this eargasm
Hats off!
awsome!
I saw him 1st with Old Crow. Have no idea why he left them but they are the poorer for his being gone.
Glad to see he is doing better than ever. He has always had great energy & and a fine Git-picker as well.
fantastic.
Truth be told!!! Bring Me back!
Some call him Dave and Gillian's son.
I don't care, *I love him*
they didnt make him, but thank god they found him
Damn! I love it! I'm only familiar with the Grateful Dead's version (which is amazing!!), but this is a lovely alternative (though they're similar). I really enjoy Willie Watson's voice. It's so unique and he's got fantastic resonation.
That is a great sounding guitar! (obviously, he's amazing, too.)
ur an idiot
10:40 Finally, now I won't feel like trash any time my voice cracks with these notes
Willie Watson plays banjo just exactly how I'd like to, as said many times, the old crow medicine show really have never been the same since he left.
willie is the realest
Nice guy, beautiful music.
Exquisite
And now for something completely different... Hahaha!! The way she says that.
How does this only have 30,000 views?
Irish fiddlers playing fiddle tunes all night. Good job Willie's Dad. You done well.
I thought exactly like that dude!
I feel like he will be the next to fill the mantle after guys like Marty Robbins from the 60’s and 70’s. Especially with that voice.
Interesting. The only version of Samson and Delilah that I was familiar with until listening to this one, was by the Grateful Dead...you mention Marty Robbins, who the Grateful Dead also covered with the song, "El Paso"....a song that they played many, MANY time live! I love this version though...it's similar to the Dead's but it's equally amazing! It could sort of benefit from a Jerry Garcia solo (but then really, what song wouldn't?).
Dude. Totally.
Dude. Went looking for this comment. Knew it had to be here somewhere..
Shadow banned 💯.....just found this all out now! Wtf! Go willie boy go!
The first camera angle makes Willie look small.
why didnt they keep him longer???
I'm in columbia mo
Where can I buy a hat like that?
Buy yourself a stetson
Bronco Sue can make you any Hat you like. Look her up.
Fiddle me this...
god damn son!
That's a sweet noise he makes, that it is.
I hear he's the one to beat, in singing and slingin' guns
I'd love to hear a hobos lullaby cover from Willie Watson.
Such a nice guy you can tell he's tolerating this NYC girl lol
She mentions he's from upstate New York then he says "yeah yeah" which saying is NY as all can be.
is this guy in david rawlings machine?
YES
Rockstar hope your watching, pay this man for his hangman song, and add it to a dlc where we can watch hanging's, in reddead
Messed up what you did to Buster.
Baby I cant ride a horse to New York and I started drinking so shouldn't drive
Couldn't have done it better himself. 🤔
I don't know, maybe if you strained to hit the high notes a little louder it would sound more earnest. The Buster Scruggs song brought me here. Had to wait for the last song to find what I came for but it was worth it.
Willie change your name to Wylie, Wylie Watson.
Here's a secret for ya Mr. Wylie Watson what gave Sampson his great strength was his prayer, long hair equals prayer. Jesus was a long hair too. We ain't talking muscle Sampson killed the Kings men with the jawbone of an ass. Just a simple man armed with the truth.
