Between Secret Level debuting, Space Marine 2 getting new content dropped, and Henry Cavill’s Warhammer 40k series FINALLY going into production, today is a truly amazing day for 40K fans EVERYWHERE! FOR THE EMPEROR!!!
Been dreaming of this day since 2008 when I just finished my first book series from warhammer. I knew then that if they adapted it to a show or movie it would be pure fire.
i just got into warhammer a month ago when I tried Space Marine 2. Since then, I've finished the game, read like 9 books straight and am now painting the Hivestorm Kill Team starter set! i know im new to this.. but by god what a time to start! Imperator Vult!
Syama - creator of Astartes was credited in this trailer. That means he had some creative input, and if you remember how Astartes played out, he likes to show things from the perspective of the camera. That's why in the beginning the marines don't say a word, they probably talk on comms but we can't hear inside their helmets from the camera perspective. And also this whole trailer gave the feeling of Syama's input with how dark it got, using darkness to hide/show things is an amazing skill he has.
@@jonathanryan9946 Maybe if it's set during the Horus Heresy. I feel he would like to be front and centre, so either a Primarch, the Emperor or an important named marine. If set druing 40k he'll play a big named marine or custode.
"They shall know no fear" is one THE most famous 40k quote: They shall be My finest warriors, these men who give themselves to Me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great armour shall I clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease, no sickness will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines such that no foe can best them in battle. They are My bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear. --The Emperor of Mankind.
The Iron Halo is a prestigious honour that is granted only to the most exceptional of the Astartes within a Space Marine Chapter as a reward for uncommon initiative and valour. It is most often worn by the Chapter's captains and Chapter Master, though Veteran Astartes and sergeants can also earn the right to add it to their armour in certain circumstances.
Grey Knights are not taken from other Chapters, if I'm not mistaken. He is just resistant to the Warp, no wonder they use him for Chaos-related missions.
@@jorgeruiz5405 I wonder if ''they'' even know this is something he brings to the table. If they did you wouldn't think the projected mortality would be absolute.
@@SCORPIOP Leandros (and Calgar) planned for Titus to go on this mission, likely unaware of his gift, blinded by distrust, or maybe has a suspicion and wants to see for himself, so there is some sense in them believing no marine would survive as no normal untainted marine should. It's possible he actually wanted to see Titus fall to prove he's not tainted, meaning we may get even more anger from Leandros when we see him next. Calgar absolutely has an idea thanks to the ending of SM2 and other events which is probably why he was fine with sending Titus on this mission, he likely wants to see what Titus is truly capable of and has him being sent into all kinds of hell to test him.
In 2011, a third-person shooter based on the Warhammer universe was released, which didn't sell well enough and led to the studio closing. 13 years later, we have a game that left us all in shock, and just 3 months later, the main character from the previous installments appears on the big screen, for The Emperor. My mind is still processing it...
Without a doubt Syama Pedersen made this. I'm glad that he was officially hired to make the cinematics. His attention to detail is amazing. EDIT: for those who don't know him, he's the one that made the Astartes fan film.
He's credited as a layout artist, so he set up the camera angles for each shot, which is very clear from the style of the episode. Hopefully, this is his first step on a life long career!
At the end they called down an orbital strike on their position. When the controller said "Die well brothers" he meant it literally. The strike is nuclear scaled and they're not likely to survive the blast. The sergeant saying it's time for us to go means it's time to die, and Titus says "Not yet".

It is not your destiny to end today, God of Plague, but know that I am coming for you, and I will find you, and you will burn.’ He gripped the Sword of the Emperor two-handed and raised it high. Rising waves of fire ripped into the garden. From the great manse a cry of rage sounded, as a wall of flame hotter than a million suns devoured everything in its path, finally breaking and receding within yards of the black walls of Nurgle’s house in his Gardens. Its infinite halls shook. Mossy tiles fell from the roof. Sodden timbers steamed. ‘This is a warning. The warp and the materium were once in balance. For too long, you have tipped the scales. Understand that it is not only the warp that is capable of pushing back. *This realm is not real. Only will is real. And none in all existence may outmatch my will.* Be assured, Lord of Plagues, and convey this message to your brothers, that I do not speak for myself. I speak for the Emperor of Mankind.'
On the contrary: he may well have suggested Titus because he knows he has an innate resistence to chaos. Remember this Leandros is not the same we knew. Putting aside the time that has passed I dont think for one minute Calgar would have let Leandros betray his friend to the inquisition without telling the Ultramarines Chaplains to be EXTRA hard on him. It would have likely been an element of poetic justice to it too - something akin to "you think you know the rules of our chapter so well you will spend the rest of your life enforcing them." This one note Leandros take needs to pass now. Its high time if he is a Chaplain worth a damn the writers have him acknowledge that Titus clearly has the Emperor watching over him.
After the end of Space Marine 2, I was convinced Titus has the same ability the Sisters of Battle do. Not quite Pariah nullification, but such immense willpower and faith as to be the bane of Daemons. That and his amygdala probably doesn't work, hence he doesn't feel fear.
Thats the sisters of silence. They're all blanks. Which makes everyone around them incredibly uncomfortable. So I wouldnt say thats what Titus is, because everyone is pretty normal around him.
So much details. Child Titus carried the same combat knife as the grown up veteran Titus. a giant sword in the hand of a child, a knife in the hand of an Angel of Death. Thank you for reacting so fast.
At the end of Space Marine II, the Chapter Master said that Titus would be transferred to another location because his skills were needed. I think this is the mission the Chapter Master sent him on.
Our Emperor who art in Terra, Hallowed be thy name. Your empire come, your will be done, on Cadia as on Terra. Give us this day our daily battle cannon ammo. Purge us of our sins, as we purge those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from chaos
Yeah, this baddie is new. Doesn't show up on the tabletop or in games yet. Listed as Sorcerer and the iconography and effects make it very clear it's a creature of Tzeentch of *some* sort. I would really like more lore on this thing.
@@HistoritorJimaldus No way. A demon prince is atleast primarch level. Titus can resist alot but a demon prince would absolutely demolish him at this point.
This episode was amazing, have watched the first combat scene over and over again in slow motion from the clip that Prime ANZ posted up. Just the absolute efficiency in the sergeants movements, fairly sure he takes out 20 cultists by himself. I believe the three other space marines are Bladeguard Veterans and each one of them have Iron Halos. Also Leandros is going to be pissed that Titus survived an encounter with yet another Chaos Sorcerer :D
8:30 Titus used to have an Iron Halo in the first game. The Iron Halo appears to share the same basic technological mechanisms as the Space Marine Chaplain's Rosarius, as they both produce a protective force field effect using poorly-understood Conversion Field technology, which makes his armour even harder to pierce with enemy ranged and melee weapons. In addition it also provides its user with immense resilience to even the most potent weapons such as Lascannons and missiles of all varieties. The energy shield the Iron Halo generates stands a good chance of deflecting many deadly projectiles that would slay even an unprotected Space Marine with ease.
Metaurus is Titus' mentor yeah, found him as a kid I guess and indicted him to be an Aspirant. Tzeentch's Greater Sorcerer was using their fear against them, and it is actually quite sweet that Metaurus' fear is to turn traitor and kill his own 'son'. I teared up a bit when he looked like a proud father when Titus was squaring up at the last part.
When I saw the style and graphics on this new Amazon Warhammer series, I noticed a lot of resemblance with Astartes. And it made sense he worked on it.
One of the Ultramarines' mottos is: "We march for Macragge and we shall know no fear!" ( Macragge is the homeworld of the Ultramrines Chapter). There's also an amazing Warhammer novel, from the Horus Heresy series, called: ''Know no Fear" , written by Dan Abnett. It's about the Battle of Calth, during the Horus Heresy, between the Ultramarines & the Word Bearers traitor legion. Great book, like pretty much everything written by Abnett ( he also co-wrote Guardians of the Galaxy among many other things). I hope Henry Cavill gets him on board of the writing team for his Warhammer live-action series.
1:15 - "Who shall know no fear?" "...And They Shall Know No Fear" is a quote from the God-Emperor Himself talking about the upcoming project of creating Space Marines. Here is the full quote: "They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give themselves to me. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear." --The Emperor of Mankind.
9:02 watch ending - there our boy Syama Pedersen (an Astartes author) listed as one of the people who worked on the series. So YES it's his style too :D
The Iron Halo's serve a dual function; they are the standard-issue out-put module for personal forcefields, but they are also specifically anti-daemon because the collective belief of humanity across Europe, North Africa and parts of Asia is that Iron wards against Daemons. As Daemons are influenced by human collective belief the act of the forcefield generator being iron helps.
FunFact or maybe Not so fun: The guy says "Die well brothers" because they fired an ordnance or explosion at the location they where at. The old man tells Titus their duty is over because they're going to die soon from the blast. Titus than in return says "not yet, old man" showing how fearless he is even with a horde of heretics swarming at his location plus the incoming explosion. IN other words, Titus is just simply built different xD.
I know a lot of fans despise it but there was an animated movie called "Ultramarines". The animations were... well, they weren't the best even by the standards back then, but some of the sound effects (especially those bolter rounds) and the voice acting was realy nice. It should be easy to find around here in RUclips.
16:28 Welp, here comes the nerd comment: Aspirants are usually picked from savage worlds for most Chapters, but Ultramarines will recruit just about anyone from the 500 Worlds. Actually if I remember correctly, every young male is tested for geneseed compatibility on Maccrage and if they are compatible, they are sent to a training camp of sort and if they survive & prove themselves, they'll become Neophytes. After which they have to survive the organ implants and more trials, then survive being a Scout Marine for a while then they are promoted, given their full set of armor & some chapter weapons and then they become Battle Brothers (Space Marines). Some Chapters will recruit only from pre-industrial worlds, where the civilization are barbaric and they'll only pick the most savage youths. And some worlds have dedicated recruiting worlds. But, step 1 is always: Are they geneseed compatible
What everyone but Titus is wearing on top....The Iron Halo is part of the Space Marine Armoury. It is an ancient artifact, a special Honour Badge given to a Space Marine who has shown exceptional initiative or bravery on the battlefield. It incorporates a powerful conversion field, similar to the Rosarius or Refractor Field, that reinforces the resiliency of Power Armour, allowing them to weather even the most fierce attacks.
What's makes Titus Special ? Named Ultramarines playable videogames protagonist. That's like beyond epic plot armor. To be fair, it's probably part the artifact he touched/dwelled with in SM1, the Emperor influence AND the fact he has hundreds of years of experience. As for the enemy. Seemed way too powerful for a Sorcerer. My bet is on a daemon of Tzeeentch. (Although it looked very Slaneeshy). An astropaths are for the astronomical travel. This was no Astropath but a Psyker.
They are definitely Tzeench. The cultists are all wearing bird masks. The Space Marines were killing Tzeentch demons before getting to the apostle. The apostle was the leader of a cult with an active relic in it. It is also severely mutated (that eye thing used to be human lol). All in all, this is quite lore accurate especially when dealing with Chaos stuffs. It's not easy to find Space Marines that can handle Tzeentch magic tricks
I just checked the credits, it's a "Sorcerer of Tzeentch," though I don't blame you for thinking it as a Slaneesh daemon, licking it's teeth when it got right up in Metaurus's face was just diabolical.
Metrasus Fear was Titus falling to Chaos....but his fear was proven Wrong as Titus Loyalty and Faith In the Emperor and in The Fight against Chaos is UNSHAKEABLE.
The gold emblems are 50 years of service per piece and yes the guy who made Astarties has his hand in this project and it is so damn good and welcomed to see his work continues
6:18 my guess is that 4 ultramarines were telling shit ton of jokes inside their helmets (but we didn't hear this), because this was a child walk for them.
That actually isn't happening. In canon, all loyal space marine legions minus those descendent from the white scars actually don't make any idle talk mid battle, at all. The only thing that they would actually be speaking is the occasional order.
@@thomasthetanderloin Do you know that Khorne berserker once give a hug to random last standing imperial guard with a phrase "nobody is going to belive you". It's all jokes, mates, just jokes. I know Astartes are as serious as it could be in lore (I've read 200+ novels). But Gulliman did wrote a book of jokes (canon!) and Belisarius Cawl did make a pretty funny jokes in the "Great Work" so common :D
Now we know why Titus was always able to resist Chaos. He has no fear. He has nothing worth to die for. He acepted that he is already dead. So Chaos can't manipulate his mind. He is real Saint, next God Emperor.
I get Leandros is a little bitch, but it's highly unreasonable to think he would just send marines on a mission hoping they would die. Regardless of his thoughts on Titus, he knows he is special and can take on unsurmountable odds
Death is the duty of a space marine. If Leandros chose Titus for this mission, that means he accepte titus. when Titus name It is shown on the screen that the captain proudly accepts this suicide mission
So, as I recall from the ttrpg, some of your purity seals are purely symbolic, enumerating your achievements in service to the Emperor. Others are blessings placed upon you by the Chaplin and those convey actual protection and power in battle. All of these seals must be earned and you must live up to their standards - wearing a purity seal is an honor. They are also given to soldiers who are not expected to return from battle - as acknowledgment of their honourable sacrifice and as a challenge to return alive; to wear a purity seal gained by surviving a suicide mission is a thing to be proud of. From a mechanical standpoint, having your purity seal destroyed would remove the buff it provided.
The Iron Halo does different things, but it essentially buffs you up protection wise. Like how it shielded Calgar in SM2. I don't think Titus needs it since the Emperor himself is watching over him and he's immune to corruption
Probably yes. He is a psychopath and genuinely doesn't feel fear. Dante once said (in "darkness in the blood") that space marines do feel fear, they mostly fear failing at their duties. But there are certain battle brothers who genuinely don't feel any fear. And the answer could be psychopathy.
The halos are shield generators (called Iron Halos) that are usually given to high ranking marines (Calgar has one on during Space Marine 2 which is how he avoids being frozen by the daemons spell near the end of the game - you can see the glow of the shield in that cutscene).
It is possible that TItus deaged due to crossing the Rubicon and becoming a Primaris, this has happened with other Astartes for example Dante of the Blood Angels
iron halos are rare artifacts worn by only the greatest warriors among the space marines, so if u see one with halo, you understand he is a big guy and understand the difficulty of the mission(3 with halos). in this episode 3 of 4 marines have halos and 2 of them dies 3rd gets incapacitated and 4th is the real son of guilliman :) i think cause of the rank among themselves he has the errand job, carrying the bag :D 2 weird things though, they did not have chance to use iron halos aaaaand he jumped.
Gold Studs aren't a necessity, he could've chosen to stop at 4, as studs are falling out of fashion for many space marines. The reason I say this, is because Titus also has 4, but refers to the other Marine as "old man" which denotes his much longer period of service
fun fact: Syama Pedersen, the living legend behind Astartes, is listed in the credits of this episode first thing i checked lol EDIT: i should really finish watching these videos before i comment lol
I think Titus never had any fear even as a child. Not aftet he became a Space Marine. Thats why in his memory as a child he was never afraid and beat the Daemon.

Tzeentch's Greater Sorcerer was using their fear against them, and it is actually quite sweet that Metaurus' fear is to turn traitor and kill his own 'son'. I teared up a bit when he looked like a proud father when Titus was squaring up at the last part.
Well no, his fear was that Titus would fall to chaos
Titus tanking through a truck always gives me chills (i watched it 10x)
When I saw the style and graphics on this new Amazon Warhammer series, I noticed a lot of resemblance with Astartes.
And it made sense he worked on it.
Guys with "halos" are the 3 persons "bladeguard veterans squad". Titus is the addiction to their mission. Thats why he got different armor.
Oh, it had Crowley out of Supernatural voicing a couple of the characters?! Neat!
Titus to loyal and refuses to die 😂
1:15 - "Who shall know no fear?"
"...And They Shall Know No Fear" is a quote from the God-Emperor Himself talking about the upcoming project of creating Space Marines. Here is the full quote:
"They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give themselves to me. They are my Space Marines and they shall know no fear." --The Emperor of Mankind.
LMAO, pocket phsycer. I love it. and yes, the creator of Astartes was lead on this.
A true fact now.
Titus has no fear.
Fear has Titus
It’s using their own fears against them, to kill them. Then there is Titus, where others fear him.
young Titus dragging a sword covered in blood is probably him after the iniciation
"I kind of like the bird...." smells like herecy to me Tibsy!!
Astropaths usually lose their eyesight in their path to become one so that's the biggest telltale sign.
Titus: shoulder charges that fucking armored vehicle though🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 sheeeesshhhh!
I’m not locked in here with you,
YOU ARE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME!!!
An Astropath is a Psyker.
It should be easy to find around here in RUclips.
if Titus was a psyker he could make a fine Grey Knight.
I really like how much lore you have been able to learn over time, well done Battle Sister
Iron Halos in the tabletop game provide an extra save. They are basically a power shield in addition to your armour.
16:28
Welp, here comes the nerd comment:
Aspirants are usually picked from savage worlds for most Chapters, but Ultramarines will recruit just about anyone from the 500 Worlds.
What makes Titus so special is that he was born with the unique ability of being a named Ultramarine. They are truly something else 😂
They had bird skulls on the Punisher they fought at the start. My bet is on Tzeentch. I dunno what that thing is either.
I just checked the credits, it's a "Sorcerer of Tzeentch," though I don't blame you for thinking it as a Slaneesh daemon, licking it's teeth when it got right up in Metaurus's face was just diabolical.
the credits clearly say he was an astorpath big homie
@@HienNguyen-cs1md ofc it'd Tzeeentch. Those were tzangors or whatever. But the demon itself looked very Slaneeshy
I mean they put the astropath in the case so that he survives the fighting until they get there. Humans very squishy.
Metrasus Fear was Titus falling to Chaos....but his fear was proven Wrong as Titus Loyalty and Faith In the Emperor and in The Fight against Chaos is UNSHAKEABLE.
You can tell this was heavily inspired by the Astartes mini series on RUclips. I wonder if the creator worked on this?
He's in the credits as a Layout Artist
Yeah he works for Games workshop now.
This is the youngest woman I've ever seen who knows what's on the screen immediately. You just earned a subscriber warrior.
She is 40
@ragnar-3073 wisdom comes with age
The gold emblems are 50 years of service per piece and yes the guy who made Astarties has his hand in this project and it is so damn good and welcomed to see his work continues
Titus was whats known as an aspirant. Him bloodied is him during his trials.
@@thomasthetanderloinr/woooosh
@@thomasthetanderloin Do you know that Khorne berserker once give a hug to random last standing imperial guard with a phrase "nobody is going to belive you".
It's all jokes, mates, just jokes. I know Astartes are as serious as it could be in lore (I've read 200+ novels). But Gulliman did wrote a book of jokes (canon!) and Belisarius Cawl did make a pretty funny jokes in the "Great Work" so common :D
Doubt it. They’re probably just going through the motions in silence. Centuries of combat would do that. This is a slow Monday.
Now we know why Titus was always able to resist Chaos. He has no fear. He has nothing worth to die for. He acepted that he is already dead. So Chaos can't manipulate his mind.
He is real Saint, next God Emperor.
"Oh I know so little about Warhammer 40k please some Space Marine collector needs to tell me about it."
Animation lead for this episde (not a director) is a guy who made Astartes. And Titus is immune to warp and psycic influence.
“I’m not trapped in here with you, you’re trapped in here with me”
It's out?!
I'll go watch it, then come back.
I watched it: very, very good.
This gives me hope for future, including the Henry Cavill series.
Why did they choose this team? Because Leandros likely hoped they'd all die.
I get Leandros is a little bitch, but it's highly unreasonable to think he would just send marines on a mission hoping they would die. Regardless of his thoughts on Titus, he knows he is special and can take on unsurmountable odds
That was a Tzeench Sorcerer, it's power was to play on the Space Marine's fears.
TITUS JUST BUILT DIFFERENT
Remember how Titus resisted the mental stuff in space marine 1? Same kind of energy here, extreme devotion
Death is the duty of a space marine. If Leandros chose Titus for this mission, that means he accepte titus. when Titus name It is shown on the screen that the captain proudly accepts this suicide mission
Did he just run through a vehicle?
Yes madam, yes he did
The halos are called Iron Halos, they are basically force fields projectors, like those energy shields you see in halo
Titus not being affected by the xenos, leandros would again be fuming.
Thats not a Xenos, thats a chaos demon
That statue is a Lord of Change
This is all Tzeentch chaos stuff
@scolack123 ohh yeah, you're right
When holy things burn randomly that means chaos is afoot
"Like a Pikachu coming out of a pokeball" - Looool! 😂
Titus literally said to Tzeentch sorcerer :
Uno reverse card
Also the “decoration” on the battery packs are the source of the iron halo the heavy uses in sm2
Iron Halos function as personal force field generators. Very rare and very powerful.
All hail Syama Pederson!!! Finally! And we want more!!! War is coming!!!
After seeing this i was reminded of what Lord calgar said to titus no evil will overcome a devotion such as yours.
The halos are shield generators (called Iron Halos) that are usually given to high ranking marines (Calgar has one on during Space Marine 2 which is how he avoids being frozen by the daemons spell near the end of the game - you can see the glow of the shield in that cutscene).
" I kinda like the bird" that's what she said mr. Inquisitor, exterminatus?
It is possible that TItus deaged due to crossing the Rubicon and becoming a Primaris, this has happened with other Astartes for example Dante of the Blood Angels
8:57 a pocket psycher lol. Also, agreed. We need a whole show like this! yes!!!
I think the creature is likely a daemon of some sort. It doesn’t matter though. The whole thing was epic.
I LOVE this story, is a sequel to the game and also an origin story from Titus
Those seals on the armor are called "oath of moment" .. its sworn right before going on a mission
iron halos are rare artifacts worn by only the greatest warriors among the space marines, so if u see one with halo, you understand he is a big guy and understand the difficulty of the mission(3 with halos). in this episode 3 of 4 marines have halos and 2 of them dies 3rd gets incapacitated and 4th is the real son of guilliman :) i think cause of the rank among themselves he has the errand job, carrying the bag :D 2 weird things though, they did not have chance to use iron halos aaaaand he jumped.
SIX SEASONS AND A MOVIE! make it happen henry
I had to search a bit on google to find out for ultramarines specifically, but their gold studs are 50 years of service each.
Titus is special because he is named Space Marine that normally has his helmet off
Syama Pedersen. You are a legend. Unbelievably great.
Gold Studs aren't a necessity, he could've chosen to stop at 4, as studs are falling out of fashion for many space marines. The reason I say this, is because Titus also has 4, but refers to the other Marine as "old man" which denotes his much longer period of service
fun fact: Syama Pedersen, the living legend behind Astartes, is listed in the credits of this episode
first thing i checked lol
EDIT: i should really finish watching these videos before i comment lol
Titus has two more service studs and a hair transplant lmao they made him younger for some reason
I think Titus never had any fear even as a child. Not aftet he became a Space Marine. Thats why in his memory as a child he was never afraid and beat the Daemon.
I also went "Oh, they brought a pocket psyker"
Loving your reacts
