You might know me as GIGI, The Salmon Queen, Genevieve, an author, etc., etc., etc, but did you know that I am also the wife of a high-functioning autistic? Landon Ashworth, my husband, is a high-functioning autistic and he's become more and more open about discussing his non-neurotypical brain so I thought it might be helpful/interesting for others to hear how his brain works versus how the "typical" brain works.
Stay tuned as I will be uploading short videos where he answers one or two questions posed to him via an Instagram question box at a time.
If you have any further questions, do leave them in the comments below!
The difference between high and low-functioning autism is high functioning autistics are aware enough to understand and stress out about it
However, Landon doesn't stress out about anything unless EVERYTHING happens all at the same time and when I say EVERYTHING I mean, EVERY single thing.
@@gigieats it's kinda of a joke in the autistic community.
Exactly and we don’t get the support we need the ones who aren’t aware get support though
Agreed
I have a couple of questions I'd be SO curious to know the answers to if you do any follow up...
1) How did you navigate the dating phase of your relationship? I imagine there was lots of honesty (zeros and ones). But are autistic people any good at the usual flirting/banter etc involved in the courtship process? Any funny stories there?
2) I wanna know about all the genius stuff! So fascinated to learn about the superpowers, and what your hubby does for a job 😊
Your first question deserves its OWN VIDEO 😂😂😂😂 oh good lord that part of our lives was absolutely …. there are no words … Except I think I’m going to have to come up with some in order to make a video answer for this question!
2. I’ll let Landon discuss his super powers - but to answer your job question- he’s an actor, director, golfer, writer, musician, model and has his PHD in astrophysics! Oh and he’s an AMAZING father who knows how to do EVERYTHING!
Lol. I feel like you just described me. 🤣 like…you said “cross country” and I’m like yeah..you’d run across the country. I’m a woman but have always been super socially awkward. Even my husband says I’m autistic 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Women can be autistic too! Do you feel challenged/frustrated by anything socially?
@@gigieats oh yes! I was always the “weird” girl. I dropped out of high school because I thought everyone was so stupid (just being honest). Got my GED with some crazy high score. Got 2 college degrees and worked full time.
@@shaniquaAK Wow! You're a unique breed of amazing!
Right back at'cha bud!
i kinda of get affended when people say 'how do we fix this', why does it need to be fixed? people with autisum are creative, think outside the box, honest. not every person with autium is a genuise but most genues have autism
Don’t need to be fixed it’s a neurological brain wiring difference we process information differently
*offended *geniuses

Y'all are awesome
When you say there are some things where your brain “ can’t function” can you explain what that might be ( aside from said social situations/ anxiety and social cues). Does not being able to take social cues mean you also aren’t good at what’s called emotional intelligence? Thank you this was really helpful.
emotional intelligence is a loaded term. It's more along the line of something called the double empathy problem. If two autistics are talking to each other. there isn't a problem. When an autistic and an nt talk to or interact there is a problem. The communication problem goes both ways. It's like two people speaking the same language but as if they were from two different cultures
A french autistic man explains that he could easily speak fluently 11 langages but is almost unable to pick the phone for an appointement with the hairdresser and many other exemples of this kind. Basic things are exhausting for him. I guess that this handsome american man struggles with those kind of issues
@@isabellenicaud3725 thanks for saying I’m handsome
My brain isn’t suited for repetitive tasks- my brain isn’t suited for loud yelling where I can’t get out of the space- my brain isn’t suited to put together puzzles
How long have you been married?
It will be 6 years on Nov 12!
My son is 10, bio mother did nothing but party while pregnant, so far he's been diagnosed with ADHD and alcohol fetal syndrome.... sometimes I wonder if he's autistic in a way because some times it's like he's a wise old man who doesn't understand sarcasm
Get him tested
