One really, *_REALLY_* important thing I neglected to mention is that the majority of Doom's moveset in Marvel Super Heroes was taken from Amazing Spider-Man Issue #350, as confirmed by former Capcom artist Katsuya Akitomo. If I ever redo this video for whatever reason, it'll be updated to reflect that.
Is it me but when Japanese Companies create are characters they be hooking are character's up tgey be doing a good Job with it just like how Square Enix did with Disney Character's.
Good analysis. Though it's worth noting in Marvel 2's arcade ending, they decided to pair Doom with Anakaris, a Darkstalker who isn't necessarily a villain but still somewhat of a dictator as he dishes out the death penalty to anyone in Egypt who doesn't worship him. Oddly enough, Bison still made the roster to that game, so it's curious why they didn't make that pair between him and Doom official if in fact they'd actually planned that for Marvel vs SF.
There a very simple reason for this: MvC2’s ending montage doesn’t feature the unlockable characters, and the home ports actually swapped some characters from the base/unlockable roster.
As someone whos exposure to marvel was the mcu as a kid i never really got to experience the fantastic 4 when i was younger. So when i finally got umvc3 i didnt really know who doom was or where he was from but he interested me like no other in that game. from recognizing thats where the iconic foot dive voice clip came from that i heard in so many smash combo videos as a kid, to his lines vs the x-men and Phoenix wright which are some of my favorite interactions in the game, to his design. it really got me to go back and read some of the fantastic 4 and other comics he appeared in and he is easily one of if not my favorite marvel villain now!
It's so nice to hear that MvC3 eventually got you to check out the comics! That's the really great part about these kinds of crossovers; the open doors to so many things you might have missed out on otherwise.
Hey, I gotta say, thank you for making this series, it's really fucking awesome. It's more effort than some youtubers put in their videos and the combination of videogame and comics analysis really work well. You have a very relaxing pace and voice. You seem pretty knowledgeable\experienced and you make some decent points. I think throwing the comic book analysis in there with the videogame overview is a really genius move as it gives your viewers some quality substantive content every video. You're clearly a fan of the comics too, so it's interesting to hear your input about it. I was thinking of maybe reading some of the Ultimate Marvel stuff again, I remember enjoying it as a kid but then again I was pretty young. Reading the overview of it, it seemed like they tried to do some interesting things with the Fantastic Four. Gotta give Capcom back then credit again for being wise enough to include Doctor Doom, as they seemingly realized that this guy was a fucking badass.
Ah, I needed these videos. I only know of the Marvel characters from these games; I was never really a comic book person (heck, I'm still not), so while I had at least heard of these characters, I never really knew that much about them as, well, characters, outside of the in-game biographies. Getting a deeper dive into these characters is really cool. I think Dr. Doom may be my favorite Marvel character. He's so over-the-top, yet still an imposing presence, and I love it. He's also a very fun character to play in my opinion, especially in UMvC3, to the point where I now have a pocket Doom alongside my main trio of Zero/Haggar/Arthur. For a random tidbit, I also wanna take the time to mention how much I love his ending theme in MSH. That song just exudes so much power. Easily my favorite ending theme in the series.
I feel like Psylocke probably should have been in MSHvSF to be more in line with MSH's roster, not to mention it'll mean a female rep on the Marvel side. I also do agree that Omega Red felt like a random choice to include and probably was a last minute addition. The reason I say this is because his theme song is just a slight alteration of his COTA theme. Normally, returning COTA characters all received new themes which each new installment like Wolverine, Cyclops, Magneto, etc. Which is why I find it strange that Omega Red was the only returning COTA character to keep his theme although likely because it would have taken a bit more time to compose a new theme
9:34 Cyclops and Omega Red were in X-Men Children of the Atom. During this time, they would just throw in characters from previous games to save time/money.
Great analysis video on Doctor Doom. However though, I respectfully disagree that Cyclops’ inclusion in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter stuck out like a sore thumb. (Omega I agree being a filler spot. It is odd he was in and not Magneto.) Still I feel Cyclops makes a lot of sense given that he is a popular character and a legacy character in his own right. Seeing as he is also the one of the most important leaders & protectors of X-Men and mutantkind in the lore, I feel his inclusion always had merit. Seeing as the devs also made him the leading character of the X-Men side in XvSF, I feel Cyclops was always meant to be chosen for the roster to represent the X-Men. Especially since he had 2 games under his belt by this point.
It's wierd that capcom didn't consider putting in Ultron or Kang as stand-ins for doctor doom in MSH vs SF. Just recolor the Iron man sprite and change the arc reactor on the chest and the head shape to match Ultron, or just edit the doctor doom sprite to match Kang
Ah I remember late 90s my character villains is Dr.Doom from Fantastic Four series Marvel Comic TV show cartoon and capcom fighting 4 games is Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2&3 and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 most excellent work my childhood capcom MSH arcade beating games thanos himself most powerful greatness of Dr.Doom thanks comments for my honor have a wonderful day peace.
Sir it is criminal that you have made 28 of these videos but you only have 3k subs, well +1 after this video. Keep at it my man, the only thing I would say is to cover his nonspecial attacks since they look cool too lol
Doctor Doom is a great Marvel Comics villain in my page (pun intended), but if your like me, it is difficult to grasp him as an evil character, at least not evil enough to give any Marvel Super Heroes, let alone the Fantastic 4, any good reason to oppose him.
Oh yeah, Doom’s never done anything evil. It’s not like he murdered the woman he loved and turned her skin into magic armor that he used to trap Reed Richard’s son in hell while he tortured his entire family.
UMvC3 predates Secret Wars 2015 by a few years, but said costume also debuted in Johnathan Hickman's F4 run that eventually led to Secret Wars, so you're technically not wrong!
@@TheSeventhForce Thanks for the info my guy👍!! ... I also checked out some of your other videos.... Btw, I swore I saw the Punisher in your intro.... Is he in the game now?
Yeah, reading his Marvel work led me to some of his creator owned stuff like East of West and that's stellar, too. One of the few writers where I'll read pretty much anything they're attached to.

"I'll make you wish you're facing Magneto."
That is the RAWEST line AND line delivery that exist in MvC3.
Amen! I agree!! 🙏🏽💪

Bison is pure evil. Doom views conquering the world as a necessary evil to save it. Both the egyptains and latverians worship their kings.
Kinda ironic reading this since he faces bison in the artwork for the mvc arcade collection
There a very simple reason for this: MvC2’s ending montage doesn’t feature the unlockable characters, and the home ports actually swapped some characters from the base/unlockable roster.
That’s actually a clever pairing in my opinion. They’re both petty dictators who ultimately try to do good for their respective nations nonetheless
If Namor were playable in UMvC3, I bet his win quote would be, "FOOL, DOCTOR DOOM DOES AS HE PLEASES."
"In Latveria we dont have lawyers, only corpses" holy fuck thats so cold
I'll make you wish you were facing magneto!
One of my favorite Doom lines!

“Fighting Doom with arrows is like throwing pebbles at a hurricane,” Doom, you already killed him physically.

YOU DESERVE AT LEAST 100K SUBS
Maybe one day! 😅
7:39 Now this, puts a smile on my face 😌
It's always satisfying to see my man Doom put Thanos in his place! 🙏🏽💪

I think Doom's 3rd color in MVC2 is a nod to Doom 2099..
I think you're absolutely right! Don't know I missed that considering I mention MvC3 having it, too
I’m 90% sure that a majority of the budget for any Marvel vs Capcpm game goes directly towards Dr. Doom

Theres only one beer left
That marvel super heroes theme is one of the best bosses themes I’ve ever heard and fits his character to a T
We get to relive all of Doom’s glory today! And I’m totally with you on his theme music, the 🐐

"KNEEL BEFORE DOOM"
Excellent Analysis Such As DOOM.
The Books of Doom and the new secret wars are great
11:50 you say sphere flame is done with a dragon punch motion, but show a quarter circle input. It is dragon punch motion
Yeah, editing goof on my part there, my bad!

That white costume looks like God King Doom imo.... Great video, very informative....😉🇹🇹

Now you face DOOM
We are back!!!
glad i'm the only one who loves hickman's run with the team. it made me a fan of his for life.
but the current run of the FF comic is damn good too.
Yeah, reading his Marvel work led me to some of his creator owned stuff like East of West and that's stellar, too. One of the few writers where I'll read pretty much anything they're attached to.
It's complicated.
#FREEMVC2
I hate MvC3 Doom...
