I thought Frank was gonna be a overly enthusiastic American man before I knew anything about Dead Rising . I owe TvC for getting me into one of my top 5 favorite games all because I thought Frank’s dialogue was gonna be hilariously polite and ordinary (and I mean it was hilarious, but in a different way)

Funny thing is, both Credo and Frank during and after UMvC3's release were also voiced by Rikiya Koyama in Japanese. I love his UMvC3 ending. Mr Fantastic, my man, Frank is just some guy. How in the hell is he going to help you with cleaning up the entirety of Marvel Zombies. Not saying Frank couldn't clear that whole mess up by himself, but still lol

Reed Richards is famously very, very smart but very, very unwise. He's a guy who can effortlessly conceive and make a machine that heal any injury and cure hunger but will only ever think to use it to make sure he and his gang can keep fighting aliens for their current mission. Someone else (usually Sue) has physically to tell him his inventions can be utilized for things other than the superhero antic of the week or else it just gets put in the Fantastic Four Storage Closet for eternity (if he isn't literally bribed by companies like Sony or Lockheed Martin to just shelve his inventions forever for competition reasons).
So glad to see his TvC incarnation get some love. My friend and I have been quoting his weird ass line deliveries for over a decade now. My personal favorite is from his grab super. "That's hilarious! Haha! That's great!"
If I recall correctly the mini-chainsaws were arguably the best weapon, although the machete is pretty good too. That's funny I played Dead Rising 2 a couple times and I think I never once made the paddle saw (though maybe I'm just forgetting.)
I was a Huge Fan of DeadRising and when i saw him being added to a "Vs" series i just absolutely had to pick it up just so i can main him. The Willamette stage i will miss, the only DR stage and then not having it returned.
This is such a great video the amount of detail is great. I should point out one small correction Frank actually could take selfies in Off The Record, the lv3 in mvci is closer to this version of the selfie since both require Frank to grab a zombie.

I even went to play Tatsunoko vs Capcom to really feel this since I love Dead Rising and Frank West to a wild amount despite me first getting into him from UMvC3 almost 4 years or so ago. Capcom aimed for the West and they definitely got me on board.
Frank's interactions with the female characters in MvC3 may be referencing the Erotica bonus you can get in Dead Rising by taking...certain kinds of pictures of the women in the game
such a great video analysis, back then I made a Frank west character for mugen that was inspired by TVC,MVC3 and bits of off the record and DR3's super ultra dlc(it was ended up being used on death battle ), sometimes I wish to remake those sprites with better animations ,either way keep up the great work!

There's one thing you forgot about Frank in Marvel 3. His Japanese VA is Rikiya Koyama, who is best known as Yamato from Naruto, the second voice of Kogoro from Detective Conan/Case Closed, Taiga from the Yakuza games and he is also the Japanese voice of actor Kiefer Sutherland among others. As far as Capcom goes, he voiced Credo in Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition. He will go on to reprise his role as Frank in the first Project X Zone.
I think the main special intro you missed for Frank in TvC is actually one where he's on the receiving end of it, if he fights Joe the Condor then Joe asks "why is there a civilian here?"
Generally, if an interaction is one sided-dialogue wise, I'll include it in the character video for whichever character has the dialogue. That said, I was actually unaware of that interaction. 90% of the special pre-fight dialogue in TvC is a total mystery to me since most is in Japanese, and I'm still not all that proficient. There's some I know about like Roll's intro with Volnutt and Ryu's w/ Chun-Li, but I've never been able to find any place online that has them compiled and translated.

A couple months ago, Frank's and Doc Ock's Portraits were found on an early leaked build so you could see their character models for MVC3 before they were cut. I'm glad they figured out Frank tho, I think he adds a lot to the game, it would've been a shame if he didn't make UMVC3

Two tiny things, giant swing with a zombie in tvc has hyper armor and he can barrel through everything. And im prety sure you can take a zombie selfie in dr2 with the snapshot skill. Otherwise great pickup just wanted to throw those out
Oh man, was I waiting for this one, I love Frank, I first picked him up in MVCI because he's pretty much the "Normal guy in a fight with super powered people and gods" kinda character, and that led to me getting the first two DR games on PS4, and I've only played the first game so far, but I absolutely love it, I don't play Frank much anymore (I'm not good at these games as I've said before) but I still love how Frank was implemented in this series. (Even if I miss the real mega buster super ;-;) I also have kind of a theory as to why he uses DR2 stuff in MVC3, Chuck was considered for Ultimate right? my theory is that they came up with some ideas, then when Frank had his turn to be developed, they decided to take some of those ideas and use them for him, because it would probably be a bad idea to introduce two DR characters at the same time. there're also some things that I wanted to mention about him that you didn't mention. 1, Ya notice that one of his crouching normals in MVC3 is a slide? despite him never doing that in the series? looks kind of like a Mega Man slide now doesn't it? 2, I'm pretty sure you could take a selfie in DR2: otR, ether with a zombie or your co-op partner. (I could be wrong though) 3, Enker's name I'm fairly certain is pronounced "En-Ker", not "Ahn-Ker".

I know this isn’t really related to this series but would the Yakuza characters count as a “average joe” because while the characters are part of the Yakuza or at the very least involved in Yakuza conflicts their mostly normal people with fighting styles that involves punch, kicks and the use of everyday weapons. Ryo Hazuki would also be a average joe because his fighting is fairly normal as well.

The reason frank doesnt look right, had a different voice actor and the stage not having the giant bumblebee ontop of the clock is because its all based on the prototype builds of dead rising. If you watch the early dead rising 1 trailers then youl see it.
If I had a nickel for every character that debuted in Tatsunoko vs Capcom Ultimate All-Stars and had a DLC Megaman X costume in a version of Marvel 3, I'd have two nickels. I never really noticed how wildly off-model Frank was in TvC, probably half because I wasn't very familiar with Dead Rising and half because most of my early gameplay with it was on a CRT. Also, Dead Rising being zero degrees of separation from Breath of Fire is absolutely wild, and it does make sense that it would be the BoF team's next game, being that there's really only three years between the two games, but man they feel a universe apart from one another, but I guess that's just how vastly consoles changed between generations back then

It seems to be implying the events of Tatsunoko VS Capcom happened before the events of Dead Rising, because *Brad is alive*, when he *definitely died in Dead Rising*I?? But if that's the case, why is the Willamette Mall overrun by zombies in TvC, and why do Frank's moves feature so many zombies??
I think the idea is that Frank got sucked into the game's events sometime early on in Dead Rising, probably during the first 24 hours since Brad and Jessie are still alive and it'd give him familiarity with the zombies at that point. Wouldn't explain the Megabuster, but fun for the sake of fun doesn't really need an explanation.

Just one small thing: Frank's ability to take selfies was technically first introduced in 'Dead Rising 2: Off the Record'. It functioned as a grab technique.
I used to do the same and actually had to redo a fair amount of this video's audio over because that habit slipped in and I didn't notice until halfway through editing lol
If, and now I think when, a new VS game happens, I hope Frank gets something like his old TVC moveset back, then maybe Chuck can get the combo weapons (Slicecycyle hyper combo writes itself.) I like what PXZ did with Frank's moveset, making use of Adam's Small Chainsaw, more of his combat skills like the flash kick, lariat, disembowl, and even the laser sword from doing the 5 Day Survivor challenge. (funfact: PXZ even just copies his TVC level 3 for the end of his & Hsien-Ko's super move.) ... I mainly just want the Real Mega Buster back. Hearing TJ Rotolo actually yell out the move's name makes me way too happy. The end of this video also aged poorly, thank god.
Frank West in TvC is one of the best additions ever and make him a joke character of sorts. While UMVC3 and MVCI overhaul his appearance and faithful to his DR1 counterpart.
Maybe it’s just me but the True Eye cult in the first Dead Rising kind of reminds me of the Stanley Kubrick movie Eyes Wide Shut because of mixture of the mask and coat.

I think the idea is that Frank got sucked into the game's events sometime early on in Dead Rising, probably during the first 24 hours since Brad and Jessie are still alive and it'd give him familiarity with the zombies at that point. Wouldn't explain the Megabuster, but fun for the sake of fun doesn't really need an explanation.

Franks lvl 3 hyper combo in infinite isnt just a selfie its the snapshot skill from off the record where frank grabs a zombie for a selfie
Just one small thing: Frank's ability to take selfies was technically first introduced in 'Dead Rising 2: Off the Record'. It functioned as a grab technique.

I like what PXZ did with Frank's moveset, making use of Adam's Small Chainsaw, more of his combat skills like the flash kick, lariat, disembowl, and even the laser sword from doing the 5 Day Survivor challenge. (funfact: PXZ even just copies his TVC level 3 for the end of his & Hsien-Ko's super move.)
... I mainly just want the Real Mega Buster back. Hearing TJ Rotolo actually yell out the move's name makes me way too happy.

Frank West in TvC is one of the best additions ever and make him a joke character of sorts. While UMVC3 and MVCI overhaul his appearance and faithful to his DR1 counterpart.
Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was at his best performance and he's my favorite Capcom character
