I extended the short snippet of “Barbara Ann” from the Jack Benny Show into a full performance, (with live, original audio) thanks to the magic of editing. Enjoy this footage of them in 1966. Honestly such a cool year for Brian, wish we had more.
At this point Brian had already done a take at In My Childhood (which became You Still Believe In Me) 9 days earlier. The next day they would go into the Studio to record The Little Girl I Once Knew for single release. Sloop John B had also been started months earlier in July but only finished in late December. Thank you for the footage!
This was recorded on the 23rd of October 1965. I think it was the last TV performance of Brian as part of the Beach Boys until 1976. It would be great to hear in better quality as it's a great performance.
This is one of the greatest videos you could ever watch. Brian Wilson is arguably the greatest/most talented musician of the century. Anyway, rock and roll everybody!
When the time traveler beamed back to 1966, he stopped a passerby, and asked him this question: TIME TRAVELER: "Excuse me sir. How's the music during this moment of history?" PASSERBY: "Well, we have two groups that are pretty good. They are called the BEATLES and the BEACH BOYS. So, I'd say today's music is not bad at all."
Correction: the name of the show is The Jack Benny Hour. It was a one-off TV special made shortly after Jack Benny's weekly show, The Jack Benny Program, either ended or was cancelled.
For everyone who is watching, which performance of Barbra Ann is better this performance, the Knebworth 1980 performance, or the 50th Anniversary Tour performance?
I despise Mike Love as a person, and I wish his presence in The Beach Boys weren’t so prominent. I sure wish they would have found some other mid-range singer to do his parts. He is definitely the most un-likable element in an otherwise brilliant band
I don’t care too much for him personally. But in those early songs, there is nobody better then him at singing those 1962-1965 songs. Also “That’s Not Me” sung by Mike, on Pet Sounds is one of the greatest vocal performances in rock. He sounds exactly like the emotions conveyed in the lyrics.

Probably one of the few times the girls were screaming at Brian instead of Dennis

Brian did Surf's Up live in 1966 for a documentary, but yeah as far as band, or "show"-esque appearances you're right.
@@fshoaps they didn't pop up on TV again...otherwise ..until Unicef..which is a long gap..and no Brian of course

Have always enjoyed this song, of course !

Brian Wilson the "Mozart" of musical genius.
The Beach Boys defined music in the 60's and 70's.
Luv it...
The Beach Boys and the Beatles the best groups in the world
You are 100% correct!

was split into by jack and bob hope comedy old surfers
😂😂😂 the history of rock
Why would the Beach Boys want to "bomb Iran?". 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
They're lip-syncing. Carl doesn't even have a mic. Also, if this is the record, Dean Torrence is doing falsetto with Brian.
I don't believe they are lip syncing. This version sounds nothing like the recording.
@@huskypup3489 You're probably right. But still, Carl doesn't have a mic, which is strange. Maybe it's some sort of hybrid. I dunno.
@@EvilSkeptic In other concerts of theirs I've seen, Carl and Al share a microphone.
@@huskypup3489 Share, sure. But Carl isn't even near the mic.
Mike and Brian are singing lead and Carl is sharing with Al
well, for starters, I don't like the tight white pants...

What's wrong with Mike Love? I've heard him interviewed and he seems like a pretty normal guy.
@@huskypup3489please ask Brian Wilson
@@huskypup3489 WOW!!!! Listen to Mike Love's Rock and Roll hall of Fame speech to see what an abject moron he is.
