Gentleman Jim, a master tailor, pattern maker, designer, sewing instructor and clothing manufacturer, has been active in the garment industry since 1961. He began working in the garment industry in 1961 at all the finer men’s stores. Weber and Heilbrunery, John Davidson, Barney’s Men’s Store and The Macy.
At the age of twenty, Gentleman Jim was mentored by Orie Wells of Orie’s Custom Tailoring. The mentorship was located next to the Apollo Theater in New York City, creating opportunity for Gentleman Jim to work with many legendary artists and notable figures of 1960’s.
Gentleman Jim’s dedication to the Art of Tailoring has received countless awards and accolades during his six decades as a Master Tailor. There are numerous articles acknowledging his impact in the fashion world.
Gentleman Jim has over six decades of experience and has developed the blueprint for aspiring Master Tailors. The blueprint includes RUclips videos, informative books about the art of tailor, and hands on classes.
Gentleman Jim created a blog for students to get firsthand experience from the life of a master tailor. This platform has been a successful outlet for the next generation of tailors to learn the craft from Gentleman Jim’s timeless lessons.
