So what does my EDC look like?
00:00 Introduction
00:47 First of all, I have a Google Pixel 2 XL because for me, as an online entrepreneur, having a quality smartphone is essential. Not only can I answer my email, but I can also run the backend of our shop, I can look into customer service requests, I can see how sales are doing, at the same time, I use it at home to either control my Lutron lights, to turn off my alarm system, to open my garage doors, as well as my doors, to check the water shut-off valve, or whatever else that is app-based these days.
So where do I wear it? Usually, it's in my chest pocket on the left side because it's slimmer than my wallet and if I have the pocket square on the left, it balances out very nicely.
01:26 For my main wallet, I use the very first prototype of Fort Belvedere wallets that is several years old, but it's in pretty good shape, and usually, we test everything extensively before we offer in our shop.
I usually wear it in my right chest pocket. If I happen not to wear a jacket or a coat without those chest pockets, I usually wear my wallet in my right back pocket and my phone in my left back pocket that way I don't have anything on the sides, and I find it more comfortable.
02:07 Keys are essential to most of us, and actually I only use them if I Drive a car or my bike otherwise it's controlled from my phone I don't like having all the bulk so try to have keys with as few keys as possible in this case just a car key or just the bike keys. If I wear a vest, I carry the key in there because you don't really notice it and you don't even feel it on your body if I wear a jacket I usually wear it in the side pocket and oftentimes there's a little inside pocket that is smaller that way it doesn't destroy your silhouette but everything looks neat and it's very easy to grab it at any point in time If I don't have a jacket with pockets I wear them in my right pants pocket.
Extended EDC essentials
03:08 First of all, it's probably the wristwatch. Most men like and wear them. Personally, I'm not a huge wristwatch guy I very rarely wear one if I want to have a timepiece then maybe I'll go with a pocket watch, but sometimes I just skip even that.
03:35 The second item is a business card case I carry it with me where I go because you never know who you're gonna meet and who wants to have your card.
04:12 The third extended item would be a handkerchief. No, it's not a pocket square but white linen or cotton handkerchief that you can wear in your pants pocket you can use it to rub some dirt maybe to clean up a spill or help out if there is no napkin available.
04:44 The fourth extended item is a writing instrument or a pen I usually have one on hand because sometimes you need to sign cheques or maybe give your signature.
05:12 The fifth extended item is a briefcase or a messenger bag. Traditionally gentleman would wear an attache case or a briefcase, modern gentlemen are more likely to have a messenger bag whatever it works for you.
05:35 Popular EDC's
Some men like to carry a pocket knife with them. They use them indoors and outdoors for all kinds of tasks.
If you're a smoker, you definitely want to carry a lighter but even if you're not, it may come in handy depending on what your everyday tasks and uses are.
If you live in a colder climate having a lip balm in your everyday carry is a wise idea because it helps you to prevent cracks in your lips, so you always look well-groomed and dapper.
If you're prone to getting your clothes stained, maybe having a little tide stick or a liquid stain remover is a great idea because it simply helps you to protect you from stains.
In case you're big into cigars, a cigar cutter may be a good idea just in case you walk past the tobacconist and you want that cigar right now.
If you're more of a handyman, a multi-tool such as the Leatherman may come in handy.

My number one EDC item is a gun. If I'm in a jam and I need anything else like a wallet, phone, or a pen, the gun comes in real handy.
😂
Hadn't thought of it like that.
Not gonna lie I checked out a couple of this guys videos before seeing this and was actually super curious about what he carries.
Im gonna be real, im sure he's a great guy and all in real life.
But man, this guy must have some insane martial arts skill to have the balls to wear my years worth of income on his person at all times and even be so much as "iffy" about a pocket knife.😂
I digress, I'm sure he'd make a great wingman.

Reccomends 500$ pen
Uses 5 dollar earbuds
casey moon these grandpa larpers have real weird priorities
A pen is something that last more and is something you pass on head phones are not they are cheap things that don’t need much spent on them
@@joedirt6212 a 2 dollar pen is cheap, 500 dollar headphones are not, personally i think good headphones are 100% worth it over cheap ones
SMELLS LIKE BROKE IN HERE
Electronics don’t last long and if you’re buying a new one the next year, paying 500usd for it isn’t practical. A pen that costs 500usd will probably last until your grandchildren’s children or even longer.
You forgot to include the most essential - the Walther PPK. A gentleman's handgun. For keeping the ruffians at bay.
I'm an American. We carry a 1911 for such occasions; MK1 of course.
I prefer a revolver, they are just as concealable and powerful.
You are all nuts, I just carry a small single stack 9mm or .380 acp, disappears under minimal clothing, even a t shirt. Small enough to be missed in a pat down, doesnt print when I bend and twist.
LCP in summer, LCR in winter.
Yes, of course. A PPK in 380. My EDC. And I’m a gentleman
"USB charger too bulky" *brings paparazzi camera*.
MatthewJBD i was about to comment the same thing until i saw yours
Can't help but feel like he's compensating for something.....
I’m always conflicted between his chosen style and the phrase “modern gentleman”. I feel like it’s more about dressing like your from the 40’s than being modern- I half expected this vid to include a gramophone and carrier pigeon.

This comment is a win
...not to mention one’s walking stick with a hidden blade that the Maharaja gave me for handling that delicate matter.
Finally someone said it
That is his style. It suits him just fine.
For security, it's recommended that you carry your wallet in a side pocket of your trousers, not the back pocket. The back pocket it a lot easier to pick. Probably the same thing for the cell phone.
Inside overcoat pockets
"I don't carry a watch because my smartphone tells time"
"Yes, a phone will take good pictures, but a massive bulky DSLR camera is much better"
I think he meant to say that if you were out somewhere to specifically take pictures. It came off really awkward, though.
It's not like a watch tells you the time much better than your phone, your phone is probably better since it can autocorrect itself and detect timezone automatically
@@felix34ever1 It depends. Because your phone usually gets its time from the mobile network, it won't be as precise as a radio controlled watch using atomic clock signals. However, when you use GPS, your phone acquires a very accurate time reading, and it should also use this to correct its system clock, making it basically as accurate as a radio controlled watch.
A watch still has the advantage of battery life, though, especially if it has a solar panel built in or is fully mechanical (in that case it will likely be less precise than your phone, though).
Also, looking at your wrist watch is usually faster than looking at your phone, and certainly more elegant, as well as polite in a social setting since looking at your phone seems like your disconnecting from the conversation as other people can't see that you're just checking the time.
I stopped wearing a wristwatch when I started carrying a smartphone. I started wearing a wristwatch again when I got tired of having to pull my phone out of my pocket and wake it up just to see what time it is.
Tip: listerine strips fit easily into pockets and don't rattle when you walk around.

my late grandpa were more modern dressed than you, and he lived his 30s in the 1960s (others even consider him as a bit too flamboyant man in his time). But still, your consistency to bring the old gentlemanly style of the past are worth of praise :)
“hey everyone this is where i keep all my valuables and i rarely have weapons on me”
What's the problem, he does not live in fear. most people don't.
Found the US American!
Because outside of the US (and certain third world countries) nobody cares (or has to care) about this...
@Curious George Floyd Congratulations for showing your own racial bias by implying that all Africans need weapons!
And for totally missing the point (that you need weapons in THE white 1st world country - called the USA - which was the main point of my post...)
You realize that "certain 3rd world countries" a) doesn't include all of Africa, and b) includes quite a lot of (white) countries out of Africa, too?
And that "clean drinking water" is actually an issue in some "white" first world countries, too (look no further than the USA and Canada in that regard - does the name "Flint" ring a bell?).
You tried to show that I'm biased (and ridicule me by changing the topic to clean drinking water, which is a whole other topic), but only managed to show your own strong bias by doing so.
Next time, try to think and actually understand what somebody else wrote before you answer - it might help.

I was glad to see a pocket knife on the list. Coming from the South I was taught its just one of those things you never leave the house without, like a wristwatch. There are just too many uses for it.
Sidearm, yeah. But mine come with badge and cuffs. I just change my carry depending on if I'm wearing a belt or suspenders. By the way, body armour absolutely ruins the lines of even the best put together suit. I have pics, it looks ridiculous. Plan ahead.
Professional tip. If you wear concealed body armour for work. Bring it with you to buy your work suits and shirts around it. A good Taylor can hide a world of sins.
I always carry a micro flashlight and a mini thumbnail drive on my keychain. Plus, while not on my person, I have a complete first aid roll in the trunk of my car. That has come in handy many many times over the years.
I saw EDC and my mind went to the Electric Daisy Carnival, and I started imagining him raving in a three piece suit. I just imagine him saying “Now, it may be more expensive but I believe in really springing for quality MDMA. It’s more expensive, but it’s always about aiming for something you won’t regret buying. This molly was manufactured by an elderly hermit in the Rockies, and is really a quality product that you won’t regret buying. When rolling, you want the best experience possible.”
No mauser broomhandle? Such a fine piece of history!
Jimmy Johnns no 1903 colt much more elegant

Go for the Luger P.08, sheer elegance and status
Indeed but with the shoulder stock.

I was hoping to see a Webley Revolver on this EDC list :P
A sw bodyguard
maybe on a vacation to Texas
Just had to look it up because I was unfamiliar with it. Yeah, that's a sidearm fit for a gentleman. Alternatives include the Walther PPK (if you're willing to sacrifice practicality for style), the Colt 1911 (classic and reliable), and the Makarov PM (arguably the best of both worlds). You'll probably want to shy away from being seen with a Luger P08, though.
Great video! My EDC differs from case to case, as certain items are prohibited in certain places, and are simply not necessary. Apart from those cases, I carry my iPhone, a 5.11 Min-Pin Knife, a 5.11 TMT PLX penlight, an ASP P12, keys, wallet, ID leather case, a small Staples notepad and a Rotring Tikky pen. I am glad to see a video that takes away the "tactical" nature of the EDC concept.
Your channel is full of the knowledge that I thought I would receive when I became an adult but never did. Good show!
He needs a flintlock to keep rufians at bay
I want to see what this guy wears on a lazy afternoon .... haahah
Yep, to look dapper
Scruges nightgown/shirt with the matching hat like a walking sleepys mattress ad.
A silk, quilted smoking jacket, bespoke slippers and a cravat instead of a tie.
I'm pretty sure he takes off the cuff links when he goes to bed.
He wears a night suit like Barney Stinson
An outstanding EDC video. My briefcase for work and a messenger bag for travel provide substantial space for needed EDC items without having to put them in pockets of coats and trousers.
And, thanks for the color descriptions of your clothing at the end of the video--it's helpful for those us who have a color vision deficiency.
I was with you until I noticed the LA Fitness membership card on your Audi car keys.
For those of us who carry keys and don't want to wreck our pants, I highly recommend a good key case. Cheap key cases, unfortunately break and you could loose a key, causing an enormous headache. Although it was ridiculously expensive, I've been using a Louis Vuttion key case for several years now and is fantastic and still looks new. I used to carry Rolfs leather ones which were good for 10 or 12 years, but they don't make them any more. A must have for the gentleman who carries keys!
It's good that you made a video about it, because many people wanted you do it. Good work.
We listen ;)
Beement who even smokes cigars nowadays
Gentleman's Gazette who even smokes cigars anymore?
Nabil Rahman i do...I must be the only person in the whole world eh?
i always leave my house dressed like an old lady from the 1940s
Highly recommend a key chain sized torch for the EDC. Very useful if you have to walk home at night or are normally in dark locations.
I've found it's easy to be minimal while maintaining a lot of practicality.
A small, quality knife will serve you well for cutting most things an average homeowner may encounter. I dig the small models Spyderco--very light, but incredibly sharp. I also have a small Victorianox 5-function I keep in my watch pocket with a small screwdriver carabiner from Nite Ize clipped to it.
A good torch from a company that you won't find in a hardware store checkout line is a great tool and good investment. Streamlight and SureFire make some of the best handheld lights available. I like the EDCL-1T from SF and ProTac 1L from SL.
A company that makes holster clips for firearms called Discreet Carry Concepts makes a pocket clip called the Mod 3 that is great for attaching your keys to so they don't sink to the bottom of your trouser pocket.
For pens, I have a small Levenger pen clipped to the inside of my wallet fold. It's an excellent, albeit small writing utensit that pulls through when the waiter forgets your pen
I suppose key for a gentleman is to prepare and consider a few well chosen necessaries before going out.
Here in Britain all of those knives would be ilegal in the street. I like to carry a victorinox Alox farmer. It has most of the day to day things you will need and the all metal design I find very classy.
It is also street legal
Man i love pocket watches. They have Timeless Style, they dont bother you on your Hand ,they fit nicely into any pocked and dont bother you in any way
I use the mini Victorinos as a keyring. it have an screwdriver, a knife, a nail file, a toothpick, plyers and scissors. I think I use a function or more a day.
OMG I have the same phone as him. I now feel special
This was supper classy! More videos like this please!
Personally I think this guy’s fashion choices are a bit ridiculous, but for some reason I am addicted to his videos. I think it’s his voice.
I would highly recommend a tiny AAA flashlight by Maratac, Olight or Lumintop. They are super handy when you drop something under your seat on the airplane, or have to read the serial number on the back of a server.
Absolutely awesome info for EDC, however one thing that was left out was a back light source, not sure if this was mentioned in other comments, but a small LED light device similar in size of a chap stick container would be a great back up light source if in a building during a power outage. Love the wonderful content of your videos, please keep up the great work and best od luck to you in the future.
you can find car key casing with one inside to replace the original one. not for all brands/models though. 😗👍
You forgot about the CIGARS :-) GREAT VIDEOS THOUGH! Keep them coming!
I really like how the ring you wear matches your cufflinks.
Good quality Pocket knife is a must have.....Tradition in many families
Al Capone forgot his Tommy Gun
I always carry a 2oz pocket knife. It's long and thin, so it's very easy to carry.
sirblackstone but why?
Thanks for Mentioning Things for us Cigar Smoker Guys..Keep up the Great Work..
Younger generation needs to watch this great gentleman's tutorial
I think all the dislikes expected a gun, two pocket knives, a flashlight and twenty tactical black gadgets, the average edc. I think this video's lovely and very useful for me =)
Depends on what you want. Classy, more tactical or US style😅
Although I am a woman, I realy enjoy waching your videos !
I don't like to carry too much on me but I always have my $7 Walmart Legend of Zelda wallet with a couple of credit card multi tools in my back right pocket, an assisted opening pocket knife cliped inside my right front pocket, a 100% cotton bandana folded up and kept in my back left pocket, an analog Casio wrist watch on my left wrist and of course a defensive pistol and a spare mag in IWB holsters. I also keep my cell phone in my right front pocket and my car keys which also have a small multi-tool attached it in my left pocket and for those of you wondering I drive a 1998 Ford Ranger single cab pickup and I'm Still rocking a tape player. Keeping it classy
With the lighters I don't smoke but being a practical person I still like to carry one, I have an old thorens gasomatic one of my grandfather's I plan to restore for edc since it's gas rather than liquid but need to have the whole filling mechanism replaced to get it usable, but it's got an elegance above a zippo without being too loud
There are many knives known a gentlemen’s folders. They are slim lined, sleek and of straight/classic designs.
The knives you showed were not what would be considered gentleman’s folders, they were more like tactical folders.
An episode on such knives would be interesting.
Buck 256 is a great option for this.
I wonder in how many European states carrying knives is illegal. Knives can be very handy for opening packages and preparing some food on the way. However, most seem to carry them for personal defense, which is exactly why they've been banned from many places and yet knife crimes are quite common in some places...
Only the Uk, because they are insane. Its totaly legal to carry a knife with you in the rest of europe, with just some very special knifes beeing outlawed.
Its also pretty hard to imagine a frenchman without his Opinel.
Wait, does Germany still have those antiquated "no swords but knives are okay" laws? If they did, people would probably still be carrying 3ft "knives" around lol
Awesome video, as you covered just about every facet one could think of. I have bad allergies as well, so a small container of Benadryl is always handy.
I usually get extremely dry hands in the winter. I picked up some L'Occitane on my trip to France and it's the best (but also most expensive) hand lotion I have ever used.
Whenever I go I always carry swiss knife and bigger knife on ankle, also I have few knives in my car and even a sword
Great video👍
amazing video with great quality content as usual, also good to know you can bust a move when need be.
Best video. Took a lot of notes!
EDC ´ s presented as its best. I would recommend wireless earbuds as they are easier to transport. You can get some not too expensive from Sennheiser with a decent sound.
A shame you are not too much into wristwatches, your style would be perfect for a Cartier Tank or, as a link to Germany, a Nomos Orion. Best regards from Germany, Konstantin
Sennheiser in-ear are some of the best headphones, better than most of those priced much higher, including full-ear.
Mister B I’ll never understand the appeal of the Cartier Tank. I can’t stand rectangular watches
You forgot to mention your horse called Simba
The Leatherman Squirt is nice because it's really small but very handy. Just remember that you can't take it on a plane because it has a pocketknife.
I like that you didn’t go on a rant when talking about the lighter
Ralph, can you do a proper gentleman etiquette when in a formal party?
I like your edc but the first thing that goes in my pocket everymorning is a knife. Most times a more traditional knife because I’m not an FBI agent but they are very useful. I also cant go without my watch and normal keys.

My EDC-
At work (long haul trucker), a keyring with 1 spare truck key, 1 Smith&Wesson handcuff key, 1 folding lock pick set, and 1 mini-multi-tool. Loose change. ( a couple dollars worth, usually) Cash ($300, average), a metal ball point pen, a folding knife, a normal sized multi-tool, a second handcuff key, cigarettes, a lighter, and my watch. My wallet and phone usually stays in the truck.
At home, all of the above, plus my wallet, my phone, and a revolver.
If I am dressing up, I slim things down a bit, so as not to add bulges to my profile.
But do you carry handcuffs?
Guns, switchblade, flask and a roll of 100 dollar bills will do?

The idea of EDC without a knife and a handgun is foreign to me. Carrying these items also requires a different approach to dressing. You are not likely to wear a vest if you are carrying a handgun, unless you are carrying it in a shoulder holster.
That's because from an American point of view it IS foreign. A handgun is unnecessary and illegal in the UK and many countries in Europe.
My EDC carry includes a flashlight and not some wimpy penlight. I have a small powerful, 240 lums flashlight that goes pretty much everywhere I go. Its small enough to fit in the pocket easily, and bright enough to light up a room if needed, and its adjustable lens lets me focus the beam where I need it. Also of note, is the time of year, in fall-winter, and early spring when it gets dark much earlier than summer, having a flashlight is essential. The rechargeable batteries are essential, while not technically part of the carry stuff, they do make it easier, having several sets to keep charged for easy swapping when the current set goes is a life saver, and make the whole thing much easier.
I also carry a knife with most of the time. The knife of choice these days is my Kershaw, Its small, has assisted open and has a mixed blad the end of it being a straight blade, while it has a section towards the handle that is serrated, for jobs that the regular blade won't do. And ist cheap, In price, not quality. I chose a low-cost knife for everyday carry because if you lose it, or have to lose it, Its only 20.00 at Walmart,. Point being If I lose a knife I don't want to lose a 100.00 knife, I'd rather lose 2-3 20.00 knives then one expensive knife.
Also these days, I've started carrying an extra USB cord, and a wall very small wall charger with me on long days. Being able to plug into a port or my charger to keep them S7 Edge alive is essential.
the gentleman's description of the smartphone is the best part
I picked you for an Audi driver lol nice car
Sven, my friend. Your videos are a welcome breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Great video Sven this helped me a lot! But i would like to see more videos about spring, like what colors to where what to wear for casual and formal outfits etc. Please.
By far the best EDC video (and you are always by far the best and most classic style guru I thoroughly get the most joy and knowledge from)! Your EDC is nearly identical to mine, even down to the floss, lip balm, handkerchief, hand lotion, nail trimmers. Wonderfully detailed and useful quality stuff!
thanks!
Brilliant video as always. I wondered if you could give me some advice. I work in a pub (in the English countyside) and want to dress smartly (there is no uniform as such) but everyone else just wears jeans and t-shirts. I usually wear a polo shirt with chinos or dark jeans. Shoes are a problem for me, I don't know what to choose. I need something that is not delicate but stylish at the same time. Any help would be appreciated.
Danny G the best advice is to wear what is expected but choose fabrics, fit and grooming to set yourself apart🙌
Jeez. If you want advice on how to dress in an English pub pulling pints, serving fish and chips and making sure the toilets are clean then you're probably in the right job. Next rung on the ladder? Maccy D's? Grow up
Super fluffy pocket square helps hide shoulder holstered .50 deagle.
I really like the vest you wear in this video. Well done sir.
EDC has way different meanings for some of us I at least expected a shoulder hostler for his Wather PPK
First thought: A model 36 Smith & Wesson revolver.
In pockets, comb, lighter, small knife, wallet, phone, cable.
On belt, keys, a knife and a small pouch
Containing another knife and lighter, charger, power bank, string, toiletries, flashlight, emergency blanket with hand warmers, spoon and a P 51 can opener.
I live outside a small town and walk a lot.
And yeah, sometimes a wee .45
Beautiful outfit, love the way it looks :D
