You are good role model for young men. With style, modest attitude and good knowledge of what a man "need".I gave a Seiko SKX 007 and a Opinel knife to my youngest son, and he wear the watch every day with pride. He knows quality when he sees it, and it dont have to be expensive. Keep up the good work mate.
Sorry about that my friend, but you are a "Gentle-woman" indeed for being so understanding. It certainly would wonderful to have a "Lady-Gentry" one day with female co-host. Thank you, Best regards, TGV
My list: 1. Decent Watch 2. Decent Pen 3. Nice wool suit 4. Nice piece of luggage 5. Set of wireless headphones for traveling. 6. A nice lighter, for those of us who smoke. 7. Nice pair of shoes 8. Nice wallet 9. Sunglasses 10. Nice pair of gloves
Nice list! I absolutely agree with some of those and I also definitely need to consider others. I'll take a semi-serious crack at what I consider the top 10 things I value in my life as I try my best to be a gentleman, although, I have some work to do . . . - a well groomed beard - a wristwatch - folding pocket knife - a manual shift transmission car - an unpowered coffee maker - a basic assortment of hand tools - a proper pair or set of loudspeakers - a cat or a dog - a decent moisturizing balm for your skin - a plaid flanel shirt
I know that this kind of comment gets commented daily, but here we go anyway. I am a 14 year old boy who has always loved jewellery and watches, but only a select few styles. I would look at a watch's brand first, and if it wasn't seiko, casio or tag or something like that I would look away, but through your channel I have broadened my horizons and am now a proud owner of an Invite Pro Diver (Pretty entry level and Homagey I know) and am in love with the whole watch scene. I didn't know that there was a community this big that loved watches! I also want to thank you for having this channel for the love of watches, as you have never done a paid sponsorship. Congratulations, YOU have inspired and crafted the next generation of Gentlemen! sorry for the long comment, but I think that your passion, charm and knowledge is greatly underrated any you deserve more credit and appreciation than you get. Thanks for inspiring me, Tom R
Robbo same aged dude as you. Whenever I look on amazon I probably would buy a slightly more expensive Casio over a generic cheep-o digital watch. I want to proudly say “I have a 10$ Casio!” rather then a 2$ knock-off. I would buy a time-tested company’s product. I wanna be happy with that choice 10 yrs down the line you know! That’s why I just got a Seiko snk803 for my b-day. Really pleased about it.
For me it's putting on one of my Harris Tweed jackets with waistcoat . My Dents leather gloves and wallet . My R M Williams boots and a Rose clan tartan scarf. Finished off with my grandfather's gold watch which was purchased many many years ago at House Garrard London . I just love the winter ! . All the best !
1) Casio alarm watch 2) Blue sharpie marker 3) Power bank 4) Headphones 5) Brown lether bag 6) Multy tool 7) Dress boats good year welted full grain. 8) Raw jeans 9) Denim dress shirt 10) sport jacket 11) Pocket squere 12) comuter card 13) id 14) scarf 15) belt reversible 16) umbrella folded 17) something to read
At the risk of sounding cheesy…I have to thank you for your work. You have given a little bit of joy every time I view. That’s quite an important thing in a world of madness and suffering. Please keep holding the line for civility and refined masculinity. May we one day share a beverage and some good stories.
My personal top 10: 10. Dark Wash Jeans - The most versatile piece of clothing there is. I prefer Levi's. 9. Rugged Boots - If you live in a country with cold winters, these are essential. Wear them everyday without much thought, and then give them a clean when you want to dress them up. 8. A Leather Jacket - Arguably the most masculine jacket there is. You just feel great wearing one, and no matter who you are, there's a style for you. 7. A Polo Shirt - Casual and classy at the same time. I prefer Lacoste for its petit piqué knitting, and because it's a brand with a sense of humor. 6. A Hat - Whether it's a baseball cap, a flatcap, or a fedora, it doesn't really matter. Every man should own a hat (that fits!). I prefer the brand Goorin Bros. for their timeless looks. 5. A Keychain Knife - I can't imagine not having a knife on me at all times, but a pocket knife isn't the best thing to wear around the city. Victorinox are known for their Swiss Army knifes, and they also make keychain versions. Essential. 4. A Signature Fragrance - Everyone should put as much effort into how they smell, as they do when it comes to how they look. Because how you smell can change someone's perception of you, regardless of how you look. 3. A Bicycle - If you live in a city that allows you to ride a bicycle, then you should. It's quite simply the best form of transportation there is. I love my Bombtrack Arise, it never lets me down no matter where I ride it. 2. In-Ear Headphones - Different from full-size headphones, you can have these in your inner jacket pocket at all times. There are a lot of great brands out there like Sennheiser, Shure, B&O, Beyerdynamic, and so on. Get high quality, don't settle for less. 1. An Everyday Watch and a Dress Watch - Everyone should have at least one of each.
Well, dear TGV ,after having watched most of your videos regarding either wristwatch reviews or lifestyle opinions i now can most surely say that you are a TRUE INFLUENCER! You certainly have the charisma to divulge the information about any subject you deal with and the way you do it is absolutely rewarding to see!Needless to say i have learnt a great deal about horology from your videos, even though i always was passionate about watches and had a (very modest) collection of my own.Recently i bought my first Orient, a gorgeous blue Ray II, inspired from your review and now i can choose more accurately my timepieces, know them better and enjoy them to the maximum.Keep up the exquisite work, sir!
Glad to see you doing some sartorial/non-horological videos again, TGV! I remember the old videos on your new clothing purchases, gift suggestions, etc. Hope to see more of these and cultural videos in the future! :D
One thing you always miss in your everyday carry and co is a lighter. Even though one doesn't smoke and shouldn't either (I only smoke a cigarr once in a while) I think a gentleman should be able to help someone out with fire (actually i had some nice talks through this...), Light a candle somewhere... And besides that, Zippo as an example has a great Tradition and history. It It is very easy as well to get one personalized to you very own liking, a great bonus! Best regards
I agree. It is something I am bad about remembering. Bare minimum I never leave the house without a watch, swiss army knife of various models, but when I'm not rushing out the door I typically carry the watch, swiss army knife, regular folder, flashlight, and a zippo. Much tradition with Zippo and an iconic US brand. How many items can you buy in this day and age for less than $20 that are made in the US and carry a lifetime guarantee?
lupo1185 ehhh, refilling a zippo when the fuel evaporates is a pain when you’re not personally using the thing, and smoking is a filthy habit I’d prefer not to enable.
I really like that one word ‚consider‘ you put into the title. It‘s that attitude, that certain humbleness, that makes me enjoy your videos, even if i disagree at times. God bless you.
Hi tgv hope all is well, what a great little vid, may i say i do love the break from the norm vids, and i say that with the up most respect, the sartorial, and a like, are fantastic, the whole lifestyle themes i just love it lol, kind regards your friend Ryan, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS.
This was such a high quality video! I can tell how much thought and planning went into this, and the recommendations were so helpful too. Thank you for all the work you put into this!

My mother comes from a French aristocracy, and as a result, when I turn 21 this year I receive my cygnet ring with the family crest. I’m ecstatic. Can’t wait to move back to France where I was born and where my family has loved for hundreds of years
Love Chukka boots. For a long time, when I couldn't afford to own a lot of different shoes, it was pretty much all I bought -- brown chukkas, depending on style, go with EVERYTHING. Perfect shoe.
My ten EDC items I never leave without. 1. RadixOne billfold 2. Glock G23 Gen 4 pistol with IWB holster 3. Handkerchief 4. Pocket Knife 5. Leatherman Wave multitool with bit kit. 6. Wedding band 7. Wristwatch with NATO band 8. Coin purse 9. Keys with Church Key and P-38 attached 10. Zippo lighter 11. A field notebook that has lined paper to take quick notes or draw a sketch of something. 12. Calling Cards or business cards. 13. Fisher space pen or any ballpoint pen. 14. Small but bright flashlight that fits in my pocket. Maglight Solitaire is perfect.
My list : 10.good pair of shoes 9.nice plain t shirt 8.face cleanser 7.hand moisturizer 6.handy bag 5.Pomade 4.deodorant 3.a pack of mints. 2.a good cologne 1.a watch
TGV. Pistol, extra magazine, cc permit, spyderco, watch, 3M sunglasses, pen and paper, multitool, waterbottle, shoes for running, toothpick, bic lighter, individual first aid kit, Eberlestock day bag, hat, and awareness mindset. Personal care, survival and self defense is always first priority in a world depraved of gentleman. Check the statistics. Everyone will experience violence to their person at least once in their life. Especially in NYC. I absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much for exercising the gentleman.
Glad double edge razors made the list. I gave up the multi-blades several years ago and returned to the classic double edge blades. Yes, I am that old. Don’t let the picture fool you!!
There are several inexpensive but well made traditional-style fountain pens available. I recommend the Pilot Metropolitan - black or silver ($15), Platinum Balance ($43), TWSBI Classic ($50), and Conklin Duragraph ($52). All available at Goulet Pens.
Oh let me second that. Especially as for TWSBIs. TWSBI Eco is even cheaper than that and is very nice and appropriate. There is also Kaweco Al-Sport handy portable and durable. Two other options I have to mention are relatively pricey and feature gold nibs (actually of the cheapest to have it) but are kinda appropriate (for TGV personally and channel thematics overall). Those are Lamy 2000 that is true Bauhaus piece and Pilot Vanishing Point (aka Capless in some markets) that has a retractible nib. Also those who are not sure about quality of personal handwriting gotta at least try using stub nib - it will add character and kinda fanciness to the handwriting and also can improve it over time. One more thing. Whence you got into FPs you got into inks. And you have enormous variety of inks to chose from that are different in very many ways.
I don't quite understand fountain pens. Can someone fill me in about why those are important? I'd love to get one but I'm just not sure why I'd need one.
One thing I have found to be very handy that I carry with me every day is a small pair of folding scissors. I have a pair I got for $1.00. I think they were made in China, I believe for embroidery. They are very small. The blades are only about an inch, but strong and sharp. The blades fold inside the cleft of the handles, so that they are safe to carry in the pocket. Super handy. I, as with my pocket knife, use these almost every day. They are great for mustaches, clipping open sealed bags, trimming loose threads from clothes, cutting down receipts, just everything. And, they’re not bulky at all. For a dollar, these have lasted me well over ten years or more. As for writing pens, I have a Fisher Space Pen (bullet w/cover type) I carry, always in my pocket. Kept one, wrote with it every day practically, and lasted for twenty years before having to replace it. How I kept from loosing it, I don’t have a clue, but, they are super pens and write quite agreeably, even under water. Also, not bulky, I think I payed a little over $14.00. Well worth the price. Just bought a new watch, a manual wind. It’s a Fanmis. Just classic style, a plain dial, leather banded watch, made by a Japanese Co. I absolutely love this watch. It is simple, yet classy looking. It has a glass back, so you can see the mechanism while winding. Great watch I got from Amazon. A good solid build. $90.00 A great price for this great quality. ...Anyway enjoyed your video. Interesting what others carry every day. Thanks and keep up the good works. 👍
I discovered Pesol glasses because of your previous videos and now I own both a pair sun glasses and vision glasses. I love them so much!!! I have a bag fetish and I think I NEED one of those Palissy briefcases, in black and orange. I use a bag everyday for work and this would be perfect. Also those safety razors are amazing. I also used to watch my dad with the soap bowl and the brush when I was a child. I now have a badger hair brush and use shaving soap in a bowl. It feels so much better than disposable razors and the safety razors are so much cheaper!!! Thank you for sharing this video, it was great!!
No particular order. 1) Watch: For everyday I wear something like my Sinn U1000 or 756 Diapal or other Sinn. Also, IWC Aquatimer 2000 (3719-28), Pelagos LHD. I wear a lot of chronographs for their everyday usefulness. 2) Knife: I collect super high end knives (some are worth enough that I could sell one and buy something in the price range of a Tudor Black Bay. Chris Reeve's Knives are my favorite, they're the Rolex Sub of the knife world, Sebenza 25 with Micarta inlay and Damascus steel is my go to knife. Also: Jake Hoback custom Kwaiback, Microtech Combat Troodon & Scarab (Microtech Custom: Mini Matrix R - Purple Haze/Dark Matter W/Carbon Fiber is my newest knife), Hinderer, Brad Southard, Todd Rexford, Brian Fellhoelter, etc. 3) Sunglasses: Randolph Engineering Aviators (3 pairs) and a few other models, Julbo glacier glasses, Wiley X for shooting, Rudy Project for cycling/triathlon/marathon. Some Ray Bans. 4) Flashlight: Lens Light K.O., some Surefires, 4 Sevens, Nitecore 5) Bag: Saddleback Leather waxed canvas for everyday or travel, their leather bags for luggage. T.A.D. Litespeed and Fast Pack for outdoors/expedition stuff, some other brands for different endeavors. 6) A jacket: Belstaff Trialmaster, Woodbridge, S Icon Blouson, and a few of their leather jackets. 7) Pen and notepad: Space pen or Hinderer titanium pen, Brian Fellhoelter bolt action ti pen. Field Notes expedition notepads. 8) Wallet: Saddleback leather (a few models always Tobacco color), Ashland Leather Fat Herbie shell cordovan limited reversed. 9) Boots: various brands... Wolverine 1000 miles, various models and colors. 10) Firearm: Usually a customized Glock 29 or 30, in colder months I'll carry something bigger just for variation, HK, Walther, Sig Sauer.
My list of items every refined gentleman should own. 1) a black umbrella with wooden handle. 2) a fine wristwatch. 3) a pair of silver or gold cuff links. 4) a signet ring either with a coat of arms, initials, or your favorite color gem. 5) at least 1 suit. 6) a pair of fine dress shoes. 7) a fine razor. 8) a fine cologne. 9) a tie bar or tie pin. 10) polo shirts and brown loafers or boat shoes for casual wear.
1. Leather journal 2. Sketchbook 3. Fountain Pen 4. Fallkniven pilot Knife 5. 35mm camera 6. Wristwatch 7. Drawing Pencils or Charcoal 8. Smith and Wesson Flashlight 9. Small Set of Screwdrivers 10. Warm and stylish peat coat
You don't have to spend 700-1500$ on a Montblanc or Montegrappa to enjoy fountain pens. You can easily enjoy a well writing fountain pen for at most double the cost of a jotter (which isn't very much). German made Lamy safari, or Faber Castel lume. Or even an entry level Japanese pen. Pilot metropolitans go for the same price of a jotter most places.
Ok.. I was kidding. I am a watch enthusiast. I have around 70 watches. I like all your videos. 10 things I recommend are: Mechanical watches, Rings, wrist accessories like bracelets, nice ties, blue shade jeans, checks, black and white cotton or linen shirts, leather shoes and casual sport shoes, leather bags, leather wallet, nice perfumes, nice pair of eyes wears, Platinum chain
Back in 2000 I had the job of compliance inspector and I went to a Hugo Boss factory in Turkey. They did not pass my inspection. I know it was a long time ago but it has always colored my opinion of their products knowing how they are made and by whom.
Beautiful Tudor as always. I've always loved the idea of having a knife on me everywhere but our UK law of not being allowed a locking mechanism really annoys me.
You should make this a staple of your channel. I think I can speak for many people here, that watches bring us to your channel, but the reason we stay is not only how professional you are but what a true, modest gentleman you are as well. Dress, composure, and style are all art forms that mean nothing without class and you, Sir, are of the highest.
Good morning sir - I have been an ardent Anglophile since 1964 and seriously involved in Horology for the < past 3-4 years. Discovering your terrific presentations (Horologic and other) has made my 2 favorite addictions just that much more enjoyable with the added benefit of your beautiful UK accent (try to never lose this), At least from my somewhat biased perspective the accent just makes each and everything you say seem that much more significant and vital. Please keep up the fantastic job. All the best to you and yours.
Governor, as for safety razors, check out the Merkur 570: it features an ajdustable head in height, so that you can get a perfect shave for your skin / beard type. I've been using it regularly since 2009 and I can attest its functionality. Paired with Feather or Kai blades (both Japanese) it becomes a superb tool! But beware: japanes blades are death machines! ;D
I couldn't agree more Luca, I have a Merkur Progress (adjustable) and a fantastic Merkur slant - much better and always use Japanese Feather blades, the best in the world. Never heard of Kai blades, are they better than Feather? I must try them. And I must agree, they are the sharpest in the world!
Great video! A good pair of foot wear is essential, I wear boots at work, but after work, it's Merrels for me. I would add a good audio system to the list too. It doesn't have to be "loud", infact, most good system don't feel "loud", but they are very full and warm sounding. A real amazing experience when you listen to one the first time.
I switched to Ralph Lauren polo shirts because the collars hold their shape a little better than Lacoste. Also I can highly recommend some Clarks desert boots. I'm still rocking a pair I wore in university, 20 years ago. For a knife, I'd suggest a GEC Farm and Field Tool. Not quite as pretty or historic as a Laguiole, but it's another object that will last a lifetime. Also just a minor point, suits date from the Victorian era. with the Brooks Brothers pioneering both the 2 and the 3 piece. Nothing but love.
1. tool kit with quality tools 2. pocket knife 3. flashlight 4. At least one nice suit 5. An edc watch and a "nice" watch 6.a pair of work/hiking boots 7.a backpack for edc 8. Folder/organizer I keep it behind the seat of my truck 9. File cabinet 10. A firearm, whether it's a beautiful over/under shotgun or a classy bolt action rifle or a glock, I think a well rounded gentleman should have some form or familiarity with firearms. Of course that one is harder in some countries than others.
I love your commitment to your history and culture TGV. I applaude the true Gentry heritage you possess. Our backgrounds are definitely different for myself and many others that follow you, but you have found a basic and true way to bring us all together in such diverse timea. Thank you for your commitment. Best regards.
I usually carry... 1. A wallet: Shinola Detroit makes EXCELLENT leather goods. Even if you don't fancy their watches, you cannot argue that their leather goods are bad. I also carry an urban edc wallet for my pen and sometimes flashlight/swiss army knife. 2. A money clip: Coach makes excellent money clips. 3. A key fob: not really necessary but it adds a nice flair. I use a Mont Blanc key fob and I love it. 4. A pen: I usually carry a William Henry BA-2 pen. On occasion I carry my fathers Mont Blanc Nobless or my Fisher Space Pen. 5. A pocket knife: This varies upon circumstance but I have a Böker Scout that I love (German made), a good ole Swiss Army Knife, a CRKT Squid (a small but effective backup), a Böker plus Kwaiken Mini (black G-10), and a Spyderco Endura 4 FFG.
Briefly mentioned a wallet, I truly enjoy my minimalist wallet with money clip. Carried in the front pocket. So happy to have not had to sit on a wallet for the last 25 years since I switched to front pocket carry. I don’t, but my father still carries a handkerchief. I has seen it come in handy many times. I really should have picked up that habit. I have really enjoyed your videos. I wish I had you video editing and production skills. Well done for sure.
1. Premium Swiss mechanical watch 2. Writing instrument ( Mont Blanc in my case ) 3. Leather Loafers ( I severely dislike shoe laces ) 4. Good quality wallet ( with a coin compartment ) 5. Travel humidor ( for my cigars ) 6. Cigar cutter 7. Some precious metal jewelry ( discrete ) 8. Casual back pack ( if you are not a should / hand bag type ) 9. Small good quality earbuds ( I can’t stand wearing over ear monstrosities in public ) 10. Jacket
Persol is actually owned by luxottica. Acquired in 1995. Their glasses are actually made in the same factory that other luxottica brands (Oakley, Rayban, etc) are made. So definitely not handmade and definitely not made in the original factory.
Thanks for bringing this monopoly up, they own most brands and manufacture most in the same facility as you stated. A current listing of non-Luxottica brands would be nice.
I agree, hand carrying a bag/briefcase feels more elegant, but sometimes you just need both hands free, so a shoulder sling, although less elegant, is a practical way to carry the bag
Cracking video TGV! Returned to the channel after half a year of absence and pleasantly surprised to find that nothing has changed! Congratulations on 158K subs, really great to see the channel has grown. Down to earth as ever! Yours, Henry :)
My essentials are the same as yours TUG, :- 10. Bic. 9. Tesco carrier bag 8. Local garage £2.99 Rayband knock-offs. 7. An old copper washer for a ring. 6. Another Bic. 5. Old string vest. 4. flip-flops. 3. Sleeveless Wrangler denim jacket, with a couple of sheets of kitchen roll. 2. Stanley knife. 1. A cheap digital from Argos.
For the practical side of being a gentleman I would name two essentials: expanding the knife with something like the classic Swiss Army or a multi-tool. Many's the occasion when something as simple as a screwdriver can save the day. Secondly would be a good quality compact flashlight. Many's the occasion when a bit of extra light in just the right spot also saved the day.
I loved this video! My family does not understand that a gentleman should have nice things like this. I feel they think I am just sort of pretentious to want quality items which they equate to expensive. Like you said, spending a bit more to get a quality item, it will last a lifetime. Why buy many inexpensive bags over time, when a nice leather satchel will last you for years? It was interesting to see that we had almost identical items! My list, in no particular order: 1. Double-edge safety razor (Merkur, many old Gillettes); 2. Satchel (LM Leather); 3. Driving glasses (Serengeti); 4. University ring; 5. Pens - fountain (Montblanc, Pelikan, many others); 6. Casual shirts (Henleys, polos) 7. Shoes (Sebago, Sperry); 8. Pocket knife (Benchmade, Kershaw, others); 9. Watch (Breitling, Omega, others); 10. Flashlight (Mag-Lite).
So, this may be kind of a plebian question, but would it be possible for someone of a lower monetary status to try and achieve this same style? I myself am a poor college student, but I've fallen in love with the "gentleman's style" (don't know what you'd actually call it). Either way, would you be able to do a similar video like this for the more budget minded viewer? 😅
Mobius95 to start I’m just going to go with watches timex weekender and Fairfield are good not a super good mechanism but timex is a trusted brand also if you want a dive or dress watch check out a Casio duro it is a submariner style but it comes on an ugly rubber strap so you have to buy a bracket or nato but for 40 bucks you can’t beat it for a dress watch look up MTP-1381L-7AVDF on amazon their is a full stainless a full “gold” and a “gold” case with a white face another good diver is a timex expedition ranger their is gray and black on stainless brackets and a omega seamaster styled one with a gunmetal case and a blue bezle and face just some more affordable watches for you but it is harder with clothes just try cheaper brands and more affordable materials unfortunately tailored suits and jackets will always be expensive
You can always buy things whit the same styling but in different price ranges, I personally like to look for vintage things, like pens, watches and even a couple jackets. You can always achieve it just that instead of spending a lot of money you'll be spending more time.
Great question, You can find all of these for less. So instead of silk/wool blend shirts, check out GAP or H&M in a similar style. Moss Bros jackets are very affordable, you will not find better for less. As for knives, Opinel are mostly under $20. Watches, well I have a ton of videos on great affordable options. For the chukka boots, I think Rockport have something similar for less, also check our Clarks. As for the bag, sorry, I am not sure. Fro the Glasses, go to glassesUSA.com, they have amazing affordable options, I did a video on them a while ago. Fro the Signet ring, go silver instead of gold. There you go ;-) Hope that helps, thank you, Best regards, TGV
I have an 96 member watch collection where each item is unique in some way, they range in price from $16-$3200. I love to view your videos as it is the only way that I will ever see the high cost watches that seem to be the choice of many blog sites. I was unimpressed wit b my Rolex GMT Master that cost me $295.00 back In 1970. It was the least accurate watch that I have ever owned, and the bezel faded so many times that Rolex sent me a package of ten bezel. I do have to admit that I did get more than I paid when I sold it three years later. Any way, I will continue to watch your channel, I have learned a lot from it already. Good luck with the new website! Dennis Ridgley
I'm also a fan of knives, got a couple of benchmades and buck knives. Even forged one from a railroad spike during a forging class I took in Redhook Brooklyn. But be careful carrying them in NYC, the state has some pretty strict knife laws with loose interpretation on what's illegal.
Every gentleman should have the accoutrements to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee grinder, coffee pot, freshly roasted whole bean coffee, and a pour over maker or French press. It's a different world.
@Teej It's far easier to pull out a small flashlight than it is to fiddle with your phone for several seconds. It massively drains your phone battery It's frequently when I need a light I am in a situation where I don't want to be waving my phone around. For example while examining my engine block.
Teej people need to start weening themselves away from cell phones...who owns who? The cell phone is there for MY convenience, not others. I leave mine off 90% of the time.
John Lobb? Quite an investment there old boy. In my hometown of Oxford, a famous shoemaker shut down forever. My bag of choice: Filson or Brady or Billingham Sunglasses: Persol, Oliver Peoples Suit: Huntsman Pen: John Mottishaw Modified Pilot Flex pen Knife: Sebenza 21
Every day carry from Switzerland :) - Tissot everytime all black - Victorinox alpineer - Caran d'Ache 849 - 5 swiss franc coin ( fidget “ toy “ ) - Bose EarPods - Signature ring - Victorinox wallet - IPhone
Forgot one really essential item I always carry, the humble but very power breath mint. Nobody should have to endure stinky conversation!😁
Lance Uppercut I had a boss who had a severely case of halitosis, I would be standing behind her and her breath would bounce off the wall!
That's why guys don't talk face to face ! Like girls!
Altoids are your friend.
This is so true!!!! A small box of tic tacs of sugar free gum is a MUST for a true gentleman.
Yes. Or mint flavored gum.
1. Wife beater
2. 6 pack of tooheys extra dry
3. Flanny shirt
4. Bowie knife
5. F250
I would add a Glock 19 and Swiss Army knife to the list.
@@mijoizagas3747 nah I'd add a 1911 and leatherman
@@tbg9563 1911's are for people who like to shoot. Glock is for people who have to shoot. Your choice but choose wisely.
I carry my Walther pps M2
Absolutely 😂
You are good role model for young men. With style, modest attitude and good knowledge of what a man "need".I gave a Seiko SKX 007 and a Opinel knife to my youngest son, and he wear the watch every day with pride. He knows quality when he sees it, and it dont have to be expensive. Keep up the good work mate.
Would you adopt me? 😊
A knife! Great present for a child!
Wilhelm Moggeridge it kinda is
Very nice reply 👍🏻
Yes, however he does promote materialism.
Being a Gentleman is a lost art nowadays. Chivalry is not dead!!! Thanks, TGV for being such a great role model.
11. A pocket comb, for those gentlemen amongst us, still with a head of hair.
That moment when you are a female and you have all those "essentials"... I guess that makes me a gentle-woman! ;)
Sorry about that my friend, but you are a "Gentle-woman" indeed for being so understanding.
It certainly would wonderful to have a "Lady-Gentry" one day with female co-host.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
@@theurbangentry Maybe you should get your wife to make a woman's edition.
Why not?! You're already a lady. Perhaps a gentlewoman is an apt alternative for modern times.
You have a safety razor??
DekeyserDekes why not? I assume it’s for legs.
My list:
1. Decent Watch

Nice list
@@fl4k_40 the last thing you want is a woman. Divorce rape is common now.
Alex Harris “Divorce rape”? What’s that?
Disagree with the wireless headphones. Wired all the way.
Nice list! I absolutely agree with some of those and I also definitely need to consider others. I'll take a semi-serious crack at what I consider the top 10 things I value in my life as I try my best to be a gentleman, although, I have some work to do . . .
- a well groomed beard
- a wristwatch
- folding pocket knife
- a manual shift transmission car
- an unpowered coffee maker
- a basic assortment of hand tools
- a proper pair or set of loudspeakers
- a cat or a dog
- a decent moisturizing balm for your skin
- a plaid flanel shirt
wife beater,
Ak 47,
Distressed jeans,
A bong,
A katana,
And a ROLEX SUBMARRINER
you're like a living anime character
@Omer Ali you should also add a dictionary to your list!
hahahahahaha!!!!
Thanks for inspiring me,
Tom R
Robbo same aged dude as you. Whenever I look on amazon I probably would buy a slightly more expensive Casio over a generic cheep-o digital watch. I want to proudly say “I have a 10$ Casio!” rather then a 2$ knock-off. I would buy a time-tested company’s product. I wanna be happy with that choice 10 yrs down the line you know! That’s why I just got a Seiko snk803 for my b-day. Really pleased about it.
I've got to say I'm the same age as well... Of course you cannot buy the luxury pleasures through pocket money. The waiting game
Possibly the cringiest comment I’ve read in a long time.
Switching to a safety razor changed my life.
You are a class act TGV.
Out of everyone in the world you have no excuse to say "I'm late" 😂😂
I appreciate your channel so much. You're a wonderful gentleman and i have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for what you do sir.
A nice selection of fragrances for different occasions and weathers is definitely necessary :)
Opinel knives are so cool for the money, everyone should own one!

At the risk of sounding cheesy…I have to thank you for your work. You have given a little bit of joy every time I view. That’s quite an important thing in a world of madness and suffering. Please keep holding the line for civility and refined masculinity. May we one day share a beverage and some good stories.
Man.. you really are a true gentleman...thank you so much for the great videos...

Don't give me ideas
How about a finely crafted torch lighter to light those farts?

And it should definitely be made out of sterling silver to add a little Elegance to the whole process.
My personal top 10:
Absolutely agree on all points!
No man should ever wear a fedora
@@Pypamid some of them look good in a vacuum but I don't wear them due to the associations with neckbeards
All good except the bicycle you have is worse than a Daniel Wellington Watch. Belive me, I am working in a bike shop as a mechanic. Ciao!
Agree. Especially with the Victorinox knife. Absolutely essential. I go with a small, carbon fiber design one.
Thank you Katrina, so glad to hear, I certainly will!
Best regards,
TGV
Oh my word Tristano went so Italian at 12:40 "You'll notice why."
Best regards
lupo1185 xicar is better
A Dunhill would be better.
Oh bloody heck talk about overdoing it lupo :/

Anything else Nutnfancy says I need in a gear check.
If you carried EVERYTHING Nutnfancy said tou would be arrested, worshiped and hated by all.
Don't forget the fanny pack!
Yep, and an AK or AR in the trunk
+1 for the Pilot Metropolitan for an affordable fountain pen, for those looking to get into the market.
4) Flashlight: Lens Light K.O., some Surefires, 4 Sevens, Nitecore
5) Bag: Saddleback Leather waxed canvas for everyday or travel, their leather bags for luggage. T.A.D. Litespeed and Fast Pack for outdoors/expedition stuff, some other brands for different endeavors.
6) A jacket: Belstaff Trialmaster, Woodbridge, S Icon Blouson, and a few of their leather jackets.
7) Pen and notepad: Space pen or Hinderer titanium pen, Brian Fellhoelter bolt action ti pen. Field Notes expedition notepads.
8) Wallet: Saddleback leather (a few models always Tobacco color), Ashland Leather Fat Herbie shell cordovan limited reversed.
9) Boots: various brands... Wolverine 1000 miles, various models and colors.
10) Firearm: Usually a customized Glock 29 or 30, in colder months I'll carry something bigger just for variation, HK, Walther, Sig Sauer.
How's the sebenza 25? I have the 21 large and I love it. How are the microtech knives? I'm looking to get an ultratech.
I don't get it... who the hell would thumbs down this... very classy as usual

6. Wristwatch
7. Drawing Pencils or Charcoal
8. Smith and Wesson Flashlight
9. Small Set of Screwdrivers
10. Warm and stylish peat coat
American made new balances are the bomb. They are classic looking and hold up well.
You are joking ....lol
Ayyy alwys happy to see a new vid!
Thank you Lasse :D

Beautiful Tudor as always. I've always loved the idea of having a knife on me everywhere but our UK law of not being allowed a locking mechanism really annoys me.
Jack check out Spyderco. They make several U.K. legal knives.
Kind of an odd law. Locking knives are safer to use since they won't suddenly, surprisingly, bend/fold over on you when using it.
Sak,or an opinel and remove the locking system
That makes no sense. Why are you not allowed a safety feature on a pocket knife?
DonjonArmory a locked blade makes a far more effective weapon
But beware: japanes blades are death machines! ;D
"Death machines" . Love it. They can be a tad sharp. LOL.
Wireguided95 I am waiting to master the German blades, once I master the Japanese blades I think I'll be attempting straight razors.
They're equally sharp as Feather but a smidgen softer, thus a bit more surgical. All in all it's a matter of tastes, but they're worth a try.
This dude should have more subs
Found this video 3 years late. But, interesting thing about this video is that watching it 10 years from now it would still be as relevant as ever.
You're a nice guy. Do more videos like this one, different is better! Nice intro by the way!
Thank you,
It certainly has been a while since I returned to the channels early themes.
More soon hopefully! :D

1. tool kit with quality tools
2. pocket knife
3. flashlight
4. At least one nice suit
5. An edc watch and a "nice" watch
6.a pair of work/hiking boots
7.a backpack for edc
8. Folder/organizer I keep it behind the seat of my truck
9. File cabinet
I love watching your videos! You are a cool guy, the James Bond of information!
Thank you so much Ed, very kind :D
Best regards,
TGV
Briefly mentioned a wallet, I truly enjoy my minimalist wallet with money clip. Carried in the front pocket. So happy to have not had to sit on a wallet for the last 25 years since I switched to front pocket carry. I don’t, but my father still carries a handkerchief. I has seen it come in handy many times. I really should have picked up that habit. I have really enjoyed your videos. I wish I had you video editing and production skills. Well done for sure.
1. Premium Swiss mechanical watch
2. Writing instrument ( Mont Blanc in my case )
3. Leather Loafers ( I severely dislike shoe laces )
4. Good quality wallet ( with a coin compartment )
5. Travel humidor ( for my cigars )
6. Cigar cutter
7. Some precious metal jewelry ( discrete )
8. Casual back pack ( if you are not a should / hand bag type )
9. Small good quality earbuds ( I can’t stand wearing over ear monstrosities in public )
10. Jacket
:The best thing about suits is that you can customize them with...
Me: Watches!
:Pocket squares!
Shoes!
Actually Oakley is the anti-luxottica. And yes, Persol are still hand made in Italy
Indeed Luxottica is a monopoly and only gives the client the impression of variety.
Every pair of Persol I own say “handmade in Italy”.
@@epizzoli6104 Oakley was bought by Luxottica in 2007.
Glad to hear of your return and I hope all is well. Thank you for posting that, it really made my day.

The Urban Gentry You are more than welcome Sir, you should be very proud. I can’t wait to go back through the archives on the website too! :}
Benchmade! My go to knife brand. You won't regret it.
Best,

Shouldnt presume but I was waiting for the 'pocket knife'. Although you say that you are not an expert but you look like one who adores wine knives.
My essentials are the same as yours TUG, :-
10. Bic.
9. Tesco carrier bag
8. Local garage £2.99 Rayband knock-offs.
7. An old copper washer for a ring.
6. Another Bic.
5. Old string vest.
4. flip-flops.
3. Sleeveless Wrangler denim jacket, with a couple of sheets of kitchen roll.
2. Stanley knife.
1. A cheap digital from Argos.
This was cracking good fun TGV - keep it up matey.
So glad to hear, thank you Felix :D
Best regards.

Benchmade, got one in my pocket every day! Best mass produced knife available.
A bag? You mean a purse. How about just using a pocket and keep your make up at home. That's what this gentleman does!
What Benchmade did you decide on? 940?
ChapStick , Key Fob, Ray Bans, Bag or Briefcase, Phone, Small Swiss Army Knife, Ballpoint Pen, Gloves, Small Camera (Fuji XF10) and of course a Watch!
I agree with most (except stylish bag, the ring and sunglasses) All I would add: Decent headphones and a small notepad.
+1 on notepad
So, this may be kind of a plebian question, but would it be possible for someone of a lower monetary status to try and achieve this same style? I myself am a poor college student, but I've fallen in love with the "gentleman's style" (don't know what you'd actually call it). Either way, would you be able to do a similar video like this for the more budget minded viewer? 😅
Mobius95 Just buy similar styled items that are less expensive.
Great question,
You can find all of these for less.
There you go ;-)
Hope that helps, thank you,
Best regards,
TGV

Ok, When do we find out which Benchmade knife you ordered?
I love when you do these T. You're a fountain of knowledge for more than just watches and have killer tastes. Thanks for all you do.

I have a Mistress on my list!
Lol..... if this was reddit I’d give you gold....
Also some condoms. Not kidding you never know when opportunity opens up.
I'm also a fan of knives, got a couple of benchmades and buck knives. Even forged one from a railroad spike during a forging class I took in Redhook Brooklyn. But be careful carrying them in NYC, the state has some pretty strict knife laws with loose interpretation on what's illegal.
Love watching these off topic videos of yours.. always something new to look into! Thanks.
Thank you Kenny, I miss doing them, it's like the good ole' days! :D

Every gentleman should have the accoutrements to make a great cup of coffee. Coffee grinder, coffee pot, freshly roasted whole bean coffee, and a pour over maker or French press. It's a different world.
Yes , agreed. An espresso maker and a grinder , fresh whole bean, that`s primordial.
Who's the handsome guy with the monocle and mustache?
1) My watch
2-10) My firearm.
That's it.
I take it you mean the chap in the intro?
That would be my Grandfather GHW.
Thank you Aram,

I thought so. You look like him.
A pistol is on my list as well. Gentleman carrying a pistol goes back long before any of us were born.
Great video. Consider carrying a quality small flashlight. I use it more than my pocket knife.
@Teej
It's far easier to pull out a small flashlight than it is to fiddle with your phone for several seconds.
It massively drains your phone battery
It's frequently when I need a light I am in a situation where I don't want to be waving my phone around.
My bag of choice: Filson or Brady or Billingham
Sunglasses: Persol, Oliver Peoples
Suit: Huntsman
Pen: John Mottishaw Modified Pilot Flex pen
Knife: Sebenza 21
I adore you line up sir!
Bang on,
Thank you for sharing,
