Good job. Right direction for attachment and blade. Nothing wrong. Just use a dimmer with it to speed down the angle grinder to 4000 to 5000 rpm for safety reasons. 👍
Fuck.hahahaha I'll gonna buy some mechanism that designed for cutting woods. This is so risky! If you encounter accident using this DIY it might cost your hospitalizations for about 10k.🤣
I use this stand grinder with Carbide Multi Wheel from Bosch to cut wood and a voltage regulator that has lowered its rotation from 11000 rpm to 5000 rpm .. it is safer no kickback and efficient
I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read ruclips.net/user/postUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.
Anybody whos ever worked with wood knows the blade WILL get pinched and kick back. Grinding wheels dont have teeth and still grab work material, clothing and anything around like any rotating powertool but most powertools with teeth type blades are not rotating 11k to 13k RPMS and typically have a guard thats spring loaded to cover blade, and more modern tools have blade brakes. Also very few p-tools with teeth type blades have locks to lock trigger in on position. Anybody who doesnt see this as a bad idea should look into the 4.5" chainsaw grinder blade, that thing is a real gut ripper. Lastly how many times has that tool been tossed in a toolbox, truck bed or toolbag and then plugged in and used. Those carbide tooth inserts are just soldered on and if bumped or banged could easily fly off like a bullet into a fleshy surface whether be your flesh or a coworker's/ loved one's flesh. Over the years, ive seen too many injuries and near miss incidents with grinding wheels and cutoff disc to even consider toothed blades on a angle grinder. As I always told my children as they grew up, "there is a thin fine line between bravery and stupidity". I think it was youtube woodworker "Stumpy Nubs" that actually had a serious incident using an angle grinder for wood working. I own and use 3 angle grinders on a regular basis, but mainly for metal, not for wood Hope this helps somebody Thanks M L Rogers Pasadena,Tx
Yup I tried this also.. wasn't prepared for the kick back.. and it flew out of my hand across the room.. LOL But once I got adjusted to it.. It turned into a pretty useful saw for tight spots :O)
This is correct. The blade should be cutting upward while spinning counterclockwise which is the case here. I think the problem is that the plate is too thin which causes the blade to tilt slightly one way or another but enough so that it pinches with the wood causing the kickback. The device needs a more rigid construction with thicker metal plates and that circular blade needs to be covered more to be absolutely safe.
It's because he: 1) Had the blade on backwards at 1st. He spins it around before he makes the next cuts. 2) Didn't have the handle attached to the grinder 3) Didn't have the board clamped down or in a soild position. Good idea just bad operation...
Get real. There's only about two inches of blade area in the material to kick back. Once the blade leaves the material, there's no more force behind that kickback. Unless you're asleep with no hold on the tool (or you're a total wimp), that is not nearly enough to "take away your life."
ecworks This video is great but all the comments have me scared and confused now. Kickback? Blade is backwards? I would appreciate your comments about these things, again, this video is great and informative. It inspired me to order the stand and I'm ready to roll.
I bought one like this, very strong kickback. This designed is for left handed. Very dangerous designed, much better if the rotation of grinder is clockwise.
Designed for left handers? So does that mean one should specifically ask for a right or left hander when they buy one? I got a cordless one, works just fine… I’m right handed.
You should change the disk. That's a dangerous invention. Some years ago Bosch, and others replied, developed a disk for angle grinders to saw wood and plastics that's not a reduced cartoon copy of a circular saw's one, which has a fraction of RPM an a.g. does.
