@@Elliot-Ivan The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
Ill do the math for everyone. If you don’t use any of the credits it takes $700 a month of spend at a 1.5 cpp redemption to beat a 3% cash back card. I use my points for hilton where i can get 1.5 cpp. If you do use the credits then you gain more value. For most people they will be better off getting a card like the savor one. The amex gold is the best for familys that are spending a fat amount of money on groceries
Awesome thank you. I was on the fence with getting this instead of the permanent 5% back in groceries with the AAA advantage cc. Looks like the gold card doesn’t stack up even the slightest to it.
Pairing this with the Schwab platinum amex can be a home run if you travel and invest with Schwab. You get 1.1 point per 1 earned. You already get 4 point per dollar you spend on food/dining out. No cap on your dining out. If you spend $700/month on food which is pretty typical that's 700*4.4*12=36,960 points. Dining out per month easily $500 another 26,400 points. Free round trip/year or invest 600/year on Schwab and for a moderate to aggressive investor 7% over 10 years. You could potentially earn $3,000+ in returns. Which is crazy to think about earning money on your spending.
I actually just got my Amex Gold Card last week. I'm thankful for creators like yourself (and others) for breaking the Pros and Cons down of this card, and as a frequent traveler and food connoisseur (lol), I figured this card would be perfect for me. It's a huge step-up from my Capital One Quicksilver. I'm still doing research on cards, and I haven't done this yet, but with Amex Gold being a charge card, is it worth while to pay my bills & rent using this card if I know I can pay it off every month in full?
Not if there’s a service fee. Either use ACH, cash, or bilt mastercard for rent. As amex gold only gets 1x point for rent while you’d face a 3% service fee.
@@mattskord9178 I only intended to use it to pay rent for a few months until I reach that 85,000 point incentive faster, then I'll be switching it back to my linked bank.
my question is the same with rent. I’m moving into my first apartment and just got approved for AMEX gold, welcome bonus; I can definitely hit $6,000 and have peace of mind of not being able to get rent in + paying it in full at the end of the month. Should I just pay rent and groceries until I hit the $6,000 and stop because of the convenience fee? I’m working my way up to get the Bilt card for rent but can’t be approved at this time, praying to god for next month or two 🙏
There's actually a little workaround for the cheesecake factory where you can go in-store and purchase a gift card for $10 using the AmEx credit. Every month you keep going back in-store and use the $10 credit to keep filling the gift card up to your desired amount. After 6 months or more you've now accumulated enough on the gift card in free credits to go have a solid free meal at the factory. My fiancee and I are just going to use this method to do a little cheesecake splurge once a year on AmEx's dime.
I have this card and got the 90,000 point sign up bonus. I always use the $20 credit a month and have redeemed flights for 1.9 CPP with my amex points. Great card!
Yo I categorically disagree with most stuff in this video. He said at the end that this card isn’t only good for travelers but also people to who eat too. Which is fine except that the only way to redeem Amex points and get “outsized” value is to transfer them out for international first class tickets. That’s low hanging fruit because if you’re doing literally anything else with the points, they’re being devalued massively. He also comments on “working for your rewards”, which I disagree with, because we already pay an exorbitant amount of for a “food” card and then have to work for the reward on the back end. This video wasn’t really a breakdown, I feel like it’s shilling…
i think the capital one savor one is the better food card for most people, considering it has no annual fee, and 3x pts on dining and groceries. running the capital one setup seems a lot more feasible with its 395 dollar setup in comparison to the AMEX setup of 945 dollars.
Personally, I have found the AMEX is the most valuable card in my collection from a price to return perspective. However, it is looking increasing likely they will revamp this card in 2024 and increase the AF. If they keep the same credits, but increase their value, I'll be fine with the increased AF. With that said, I am afraid they may tack on a RESY credit instead, like the Delta cards, which will be a net loss for me in the area I live. Until that point, it is a fantastic card for my use, however if the changes do come, I may have to reconsider it.
I had the platinum before Amex made that new rule, I want to get the gold but because I’m ineligible for the bonus, I’m very hesitant. Not sure what to do
I'm sure many people get great value from this card, but I just can't justify it. I would rarely use the dining credit, I already get great Uber benefits from my Savor, and I tend to book hotel stays directly. So that's $250 for 4X grocery/dining when I already get 3X for from other cards for free. No thanks.

the one issue I have with this is the dining credit is limited to several restaurants which many of the reviews don't mention; the other is with uber at $10 a month so you have to have the uber membership or take an uber monthly to get your money back on this outside of the points
Just got my Amex gold, however I have one question about the autopay when should I set it up? “Your next automatic debit will occur on April 13” and then there are bunch of statement options which is the best to choose 15 days after statements through 25 days??
Correction: Done right, you’re paying around $500 (maybe a little less if you redeem the points for travel partners) for the card before you start to gain value from the points. It takes $250 of spend at 4X points and 1 cent per point redemption to make up the $10 effective annual fee after the credits. Double that cent per point redemption to 2 obviously cuts that in half, but that still makes it nearly $400 before you gain a profit, so to speak. Not hating on the card, but I wish more credit card RUclipsrs would speak about these cards in those terms.
I've had this card since 2004, and have always used it in place of a debit card (used for all purchases and paid off monthly). I've always had it linked to Amazon since that first became an option. That may not be the highest reward, but it's stupid easy, and results in free stuff that totals far more than the annual fee. It feels good to gift yourself a book or something now and again, and it's just a reliable card with reliable protection (which I've had to use more than once). There are more savvy options, I'm sure. But you can also learn how to make your own sandwich, and save hundreds monthly. If you're splitting hairs on credit card rewards, you're probably not making great life decisions.

Well, then you’re not playing the points game. I get free flights / business and first class upgrades every year. Haven’t paid for airline tickets for the last 3 years.
I disagree. You tried to adjustify the grub hub and Uber eats. Most people go to myself. Do not use both those credits every month for me. Maybe twice a year so to justify all you got to use it to justify the funds is not okay All you have to do is change it to a general $10 or $20 a month. Whatever even $10 and combine both of them as long as you're 10 for any dining It wouldn't make you drop the annual fee really low but at least it's more usable
On the fence of canceling mine and getting either CSP or Wells Fargo Autograph/Autograph Journey. I use the credits for uber rides but not for dining because that credit sucks

The rep told me my 'score wasn't high enough'. They may have a length of time they prefer? I'm only 4 years in with CCs. I broke up with our system during the 08 downturn. I realized I had to play the game so my mindset is different now. 🙂
so i have to spend 6000 quick as possible to get the extra points?
I tried to apply, unfortunately due to a loan modification I accepted during Covid is an automatic denial.
Alrighty, I have been debating on this card vs Venture X for months. Which one is better John?
They are very different cards, I love my venture X but for dining it’s not very good, it’s a better everyday and travel card. If you want a card for food then get the gold
Bro one is a travel card and the other is not. Should be easy to determine which is better for you
But you can use the 120 from dining and uber= 240 to pay the card so really it cost you 10 dollars a month, right?
Its 300 now Plus they basically scam you by taking your 250 for uber / grub hub 😂😂 its also a 80% plastic card with 10% metal
Can you do a video on the rose gold card
I just got it my sign up bonus was 90k points
Just got a amex gold offer for 90k points by spending 4k in 6 months ezzz steal
Would buying gift cards (let’s say for Walmart or Sam’s club) from a Neighborhood Walmart, still give me 4X points on the AmEx Gold? Those are part of my daily spending habits but I know that buying directly from Walmart or Sam’s foes not give points.
When I send the referral to friend it’s start his free month, so I have to wait until he gets the first charge In a month.
How do I make it that he starts a paid membership right away so it can count towards my 10 referrals?
Please advise
Thank you
No card with a $250 annual fee is worth it
Well, then you’re not playing the points game. I get free flights / business and first class upgrades every year. Haven’t paid for airline tickets for the last 3 years.
@@paulc3752 because you already do with that fee 👍
Ok broke boy
@@paulc3752how you get the upgrades? I just book the flights directly in business 🤔
@@EIonMusk1😂
After the SUB change, I no longer want it.
I have an Amex gold referral link. Is anyone interested?
I disagree. You tried to adjustify the grub hub and Uber eats. Most people go to myself. Do not use both those credits every month for me. Maybe twice a year so to justify all you got to use it to justify the funds is not okay
All you have to do is change it to a general $10 or $20 a month. Whatever even $10 and combine both of them as long as you're 10 for any dining It wouldn't make you drop the annual fee really low but at least it's more usable
It’s actually 90k pts currently
Can I accumulate those credit and use it once every 3 months?
No
On the fence of canceling mine and getting either CSP or Wells Fargo Autograph/Autograph Journey. I use the credits for uber rides but not for dining because that credit sucks
just got referrals for both personal (90k points) and business (200k)
My uber credit doesn't make it pass the first week ^^;; and Shake shack is yummy :)
Can you do another live soon?
Do you have any advice on how to find a side hustle that suits you and the path to making a profit out of it?
Find out what suits you. What do you enjoy doing, what are your hobbies, what are you passionate about?
Gold card
Annual fee increase is coming if the fee don’t offset me bye gold and platinum
I like the cap1 savor 0 annual fee
3x dine, 3x grocery, 3x streaming services and
venture x 395 fee
2x back all purchases and 10x hotel and rental, 5x on flights through the portal price match grantee and 10k points every anniversary.
You get both card and 5 dollars to have them both
So the venture one is better then Amex gold and platinum combine ?
@@Flame_water as of now yes it is
Very worth it
9:53 EXACTLY!!!! People just love to complain. I get so much value out of my AMEX trifecta that I feel it’s well worth holding onto and if you can’t use the credits than don’t get the card but stop crying🤷🏽♂️. People act like banks are their friends and aren’t in this trying to make money, it’s up to you not to allow them to play you like a sucker.
Buy cheesecake 10$ gift card every month, then use them all for dinner for two. 🎉
I think you may have forgot to mention that if you are active duty military, you get your anual fee waved lol.
But thanks for all the info. 👍🏻
Does that include Reserve and National Guard?
I canceled my gold
Whatd you switch to? I’m about to cancel mine
@Jiggy609 I have the capital one savor now. Similar percentages back but now I get it in form of cash back. I just got caught in this game of always trying to earn points. And a revolving door of debt. So now at least I can put cash back into my account.
@@ky0611 feel that. Definitely the points chasing can make you overspend
These perks done seem like perks that AMEX people would even want. Why not points on the Acela, or discounts at good hotels. Who cares about Cheesecake Factory over the age of 22?
I mean you can just use it on rent ...
no 4X a Walmart
How much debt r you in brother ?
Can you transfer to the Hilton hotel I actually like that hotel
I have the Amex gold 90k sign up bonus + 20% cashback. Lmk if you anyone needs it.
I don’t even need to watch the vid to know the answer- NO 😂 It is a shit card. C1 Savor is much better. And it’s free.
The Gold is overrated and hawked by every influencer on RUclips. It’s profitable for them if you end up using their links.
if only it works at costco
Sams club accepts it
Correction: Now its only 2 times instead of 4 times in points earning.
Anybody wants to apply let me know we can both take advantage of the referral friend, I already have the card
8😊
AMEX has terrible customer service.

Nope
Once in a blue moon you will see an ANA flight on seats.aero through United. But yeah it's not through ANA's loyalty program
Amex Gold is worth for me, because I use Ubereats
AMX card is not good for travel at all ! Its Not Excepted in Most Europa ! 🤣🤣🤣 Second --- Travel Insurance does not cover for People over 65 ! Wake up . AMX is just not worth the Fees you cant Use it . !
