Yep, never finished lower that 2nd in any season that he finished with ManUtd (because 2001/02 was the only time in that period ManUtd came 3rd and they only slipped to 3rd late on after they were out of the PL race while Liverpool were caring more about 2nd than ManUtd but Beckham didn't finish the season because Deportivo were hacking him loads in ChampionsLeague quarterfinals & broke his metatarsal).

Kanoute was a beast
The level of football, the duels, tackels, slidings, ball movement and pace on the pitch was higher overall in the early 2000s. Also the quality of players was better. The decline started somewhere around 2006/2007 till date.
2006/2007 was still ok. The decline of great players started with Cristiano and Messi dominating in Madrid and Barca respectively.
Now if we look at the teams in EURO2024.... the quality of players in Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Czech, Serbia pales in comparison with what we got in EURO2000/2004.
Just something about this era of football, so much more joy from it.
My favourite era. Think the quality had improved but the stadium atmospheres still had an edge to them. Kit designs were also incredible.
