It's 6-1 already, and back then most teams have 3 or 4 super strikers, so he wanted to give Sheringham and Ole a chance to score. He definitely wouldn't have made this substituting if it was 1-0 or 2-0.

@@rexgaming7018 You lost me at "Ashley Young would be nice at crossing" lol. He can't put a decent cross to save his life! 99% of his crosses hit the first man. Becks put in more accurate crosses in yesterday's charity match at the age of 44, than Ashley Young put in the entire season!
Filthy, aren't they? He sent those crosses with such precision that they basically landed on the other players' feet. Even if he was chasing down the ball before it went out of bounds, like he did with one of the goals (Cole's I think?) here; even with that (and a defender in hot pursuit), boom! The most beautiful missile right in front of the goal; perfection. Where the hell did he get that skill from? And made it look so effortless.
No point in great crosses when there is no-one to put them in. Rashford? Forget it!

Couldn't tackle for toffee, but he made up for it by being a deadly finisher, a clinical, strategic, sublime passer and reading the game well. My favourite midfielder of that era by miles.

Because he was such an "it" boy, had all that attention on him. Similar to George Best! It's as if people can't keep the two things apart (walk and chew gum at the same time).
Because he has very limited skills. Freekicks and crosses. That's it.

Beckham was overrated as a celebrity and I think that made a lot of people underrate him as a player. When someone is that famous, people want them to fail, but he's one of the finest fooballers of my lifetime.
That Scholes penalty is still my favourite ever to this day. Belt it at the keepers face and watch natural instincts take control!
I tried that and hit the keeper full in the face but put the rebound away. Keeper had to be subbed.

Laying in bed on a saturday night, watching united on match of the day, loved it
American MUFC supporter since 1996 here. This was the first home match that I attended. Old Trafford was (still is) such a football cathedral that I was almost in tears upon entering. My memories: wonderful match, amazing atmosphere, and quality of footballers on our side.
We were so dominant that season. We won the league trophy by 18 points, and the supporters were still complaining about goalkeeing (Peter Schmeichel had just departed.)
Thanks for the memories.
