@@ma1337hi it was a lot more exciting back then and there was a lot more bumping, rubbing and risky racing. There was also a lot less rules regarding how the drivers had to race (pushing / bump drafting, etc) so it made the racing more risky and made for some spectacular wrecking too. Every lap had you at the edge of your seat and as a result tempers were a lot higher and egos even bigger too (on and off the track). Also, the drivers back then were bigger than life. New NASCAR, you can literally turn the channel for 30 minutes and not miss a thing. Racing today is more competitive due to teams and equipment being nearly identical thanks to stricter rules and drivers less willing to take risks for fear of fines, losing sponsorships or rides. NASCAR today is very boring and "safe". I miss the NASCAR of old where a car could literally role in a crash, the team slaps some 200MPH tape on her and send her back out for a top 10 finish. Shoot, rules today stipulate that if the car is in the pits for more than 5 minutes they get a DNF and can't be on the track for safety reasons... that's just stupid. Lap traffic causes exciting driving scenarios due to speed differences and who the heck are fans suppose to cheer for when their driver isn't allowed back on the track. Ah well... :(

@@dwindeyer The engine spins the opposite way. So this force would help keep the truck planted on right-handers and cause more body roll on left handers. You see this in drag racing when a rwd car has loads of torque but not good enough suspension to keep it straight (search "Putting it on the bumper"). It's also very noticeable when flying single-engine aircraft because the only thing countering the torque is aerodynamic forces. You see it on these trucks because there's only so much they can do to counter body roll when they also need to be able to take those huge jumps.

0:14 I highly doubt that 3 wheeled cornering was intended for these races. It’s seems to be a big drawback caused from that cloudy soft flexible suspension, but without it, the trucks would probably bounce, lose traction, or break an axle.
Well it’s partly due to the torque of the engine, you’ll take special care to notice that the amount of wheel ride and chassis flex you see during a right turn is significantly less than that of the left turn. Pretty sure the engine being floor twists the chassis a significant amount

It's quite recent, I believe the term is "Baja Truck" racing, not sure.
Stadium truck racing. Here in Australia they race the same tracks as our V8 supercar championship just with added jumps and obstacles
