    The wind noise!!! So I own a 16 LS460L executive pkge - I purchased at 22k certified from Lexus. No road or wind noise at all. Ever. Once I hit 60kish I noticed a lot of wind noise from drivers front window. After looking into it I found the window molding up in the drivers front window in the corner next to the mirror was deforming and starting to wither away. Wiggled it back to place and went silent again. Brought to lexus and had them replace drivers front window molding (not covered as a wear an tear item) whatever 200 bucks later and problem solved perfectly until it withers away again lmao..
    So hope that helps!

    Although the electronics and gauges are outmoded and the joy stick still there. I bought her Certified Pre-Owned last summer and Lexus refused to give me or install Apple Car Play. Cheap solution? Got a knock-off cupholder insert cell phone holder for $19 and let Siri guide me through bluetooth. Keep the LS reviews coming! I can't handle in and out of SUVs due to knee and hip surgery, nor a Corvette etc. LS460Ls are fabulous if you can find one, apparently owners are hanging on to them. Back seat passengers often fall asleep, a compliment.

    I once owned a 2008 LS600hl that I bought used in 2011. I too, had experienced wind noise on my driver side, luckily I bought it as a certified pre-owned and with extended warranty. Glad you had suggested both points to your viewers, because repairs on ultra luxury car using genuine parts by authorized dealer can be expensive on newer cars. The dealer sent my car in for a test drive by Lexus noise engineer and they finally did a replacement of windows sills. After which, wind noise is much improved and acceptable on highway. I think the earlier 2000's LS 460 models which don't have acoustic noise insulation front windows and windshield will have some kind of noise. In 2016, I bought my current 2010 LS 460 with air suspension, ride is much better controlled and doesn't has the pillow soft, bouncy ride and body roll of a boat compared to the regular steel suspension of LS 460 ( which I happened to test drive before choosing one with air suspension ).
    I've enjoyed your video reviews of current LS 500 and LC 500, surprised to know the LS 500 F-sport is quieter without the wind noise compared to the regular LS 500. I think at some point, I might change to a 2016 or 2017 LS 460 F-sport, instead of going to the LS 500.

      Yea my friend it seems to be all over the place with wind noise some models have it some don't. Some viewers said that the higher trim LS models like Luxury trims don't seem to suffer from wind noise but it is strange for sure

      Only just got around to seeing this great review/post.
      Any updates on your air suspension? Because I’d prefer that option but read so many comments about issues.

      Any issues with the control arms etc??
      Cheers 🍻👍

    • @jimmypang8111
      @jimmypang8111 Год назад +1

      @@dibaz1 I've owned my 2010 Lexus LS460 for seven years now, and still driving it daily. I've clocked 75K miles so far and only needs oil change, battery, tires and brakes maintenance. I didn't have control arm issue. I would definitely prefer air suspension to the regular steel spring suspension. I think the newer 2016 or 2017 Lexus LS460 would be a better choice over the 2010-2012 generation. I heard leaky coolant, control arm issue are some of the common reported problems of the 2008-2012 era. But the newer Lexus are more expensive to repair or replace. Back in 2019, I had a crack on my front windscreen, Safety Glass, quoted a mere $1000 original factory parts price if I had to replace the entire front windscreen. But a 2017 Honda Civic or newer Subaru Legacy with a lane keeping would cost upto $2000 plus $500 calibration! I end up having my insurance company paying just $50 for the tiny crack repair.
      One note, last year September, 3 weeks after oil change by my mechanic ( non lexus dealer ) whom I've used for six years, I heard the AC fan was working really hard and loud. I didn't pay much attention, soon after while driving on highway, the display shows engine overheat warning and asked me to pull over. I noticed the coolant was below min mark, so I filled it to the max. After filling the coolant tank every 2 weeks for 2 months and took it on a long road trip, the low engine oil light warning appeared. I had to drive to nearby hardware store and buy two 5 quant containers to fill up the empty engine tank! Despite these, my Lexus survived and engine still running strong...I think the mechanic must have forgotten to fill in fresh engine oil after draining the old one away! As for the coolant, I never had to fill up as often anymore but there might be a tiny pinhole leak somewhere. So a Lexus is a Lexus, it is built to last. If I were you, and prefer an older lexus ls460...I would be careful to look how many previous owners, how often the car changed hands, if the vehicle is regularly serviced and never miss important service schedule.

  • @lsfanatic5954
    @lsfanatic5954 3 года назад +6

    I am not aware of any wind noise in my 2015. The beauty with a LS is the backseat, particularly with the L version which you can hardly feel any bumps. Personally I still prefer my older LS 430 for daily commuting because the way a 460 rides is nowhere close to how smooth and quiet its predecessor can offer. It is in fact a wise choice to avoid air suspension. Last year, I got an air strut replaced under warranty which could have costed $1k each. I recommend strongly everyone to invest in an extended warranty, which will "pay off itself" if you are so unlucky enough to come across with the need to deal with $$$$ repairs such as the height compressor ($3000!! no joke) >> Another reason to run away from air suspension.
    As for the leather quality, they do not resist to ageing as those in older Lexuses. Cracks have started to developed in my 2015. I have heard that the factory offers complimentary replacement of worn out parts like the dashboard, door panels and of course, the front seats for earlier 460s (pre-2010). I hope they will extend the courtesy to newer 460s too. Can't comment on the rear seats because I seldom have anyone in the back but it is noteworthy that the backseat of my 430 still holds up pretty well! My advice is to stay away from the LWB (usually loaded with more options) unless you have a chauffeur! The more toys you have, the deeper your pocket will be robbed!
    Other than the aggressive headlight, spindle grill and taillights which are 100% subjective in terms of aesthetics, I don't see how a 500 stands out from a 460. First, I am never a fan of the twin-turbo thing. Second, wood trim of the steering wheel now becomes an added $500 option. In addition, the touchpad in 500s is even more annoying than the mouse in 460s. Perhaps there are improvements in the coming 2021 model but the above is a summary of my experience after test-driving a 2019.

    Watched while my 2010 LS 460 Sport is in for a checkup: brake pads and tires need attention. Your review persuades me that everything good about this LS has been preserved and likely improved to a some small degree. Mine has relatively low milage for its age reflecting my retirement and cessation of commuting and long trips to northern islands. Should I ever have to give up what I have, it looks as if the 2017 or the 2016 with low milage still would be the way to go. Over time, though, I worry that competant maintenance and parts might become hard to find.

    I don't see how Lexus thinks a V6 twin-turbo flagship can compete with the twin-turbo V8 flagships from the Germans. The new LS now seems to be dialed down a notch competing with the E class and 5 series especially since the GS is gone. Lexus needs to wake up and stop this idea that they can be a premier luxury brand by pumping out more and more FWD crossovers and small/weak engines.

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  3 года назад

      Well TT V6 wasn't ever supposed to compete with TT V8s it was supposed to compete with V6 offerings from the Germans, S450, 740i, Base A8 V6. LS500 Produces over 100 hp more than these cars that was Lexus' target market

He is not posting it anymore and he's going to send me the Carfax. I may be able to get it for 18.5k ( I'm in northern CA.)

    I was super bummed when I lost out on the 08 ( it was owned by older couple that took excellent care of it. I'd be paying about 10k more for the 2016. Should I just wait for the right gs 350 to come along? Or pull the trigger on the 2016?

      The 2016 LS is truly an epic vehicle I understand your yearning for wanting to buy that car.
      I will however caution you this is a flagship luxury car and outside of a warranty, this will be very expensive when it comes to repairs and maintenance.
      If you can afford it so be it but if not, the ES and RX might be a better choice and still great driving machines.
      Here's a full buyer's guide video I did on the LS: ruclips.net/video/gr38jTmlZ5U/видео.html
      Also, please keep in mind this is a overinflated used car market with high interest rates, considering a new refined car might be worth it as well.
