I used to work for ECS long ago I loved it... building big brake kits all day and running lazer CAD. I moved back to Ohio from Missouri and really miss the place and the people there they are top notch...
Feel like I've been waiting for this update for way too long, so much so that I've rewatched the other episodes about 5 times, but totally worth the wait. Easily my favourite build, especially the journey it's been on since its intro as a winter beater.
I would die to have a similar setup on my rabbit! Seriously the build and video quality is out of this world. You guys deserve all the views. Can’t wait for the next episode!
One thing for grinding rings: grind the opposite direction that Mike shows (wheel rotates towards the center of the ring). Even if there isn't a bur, rotating the grinder from the inside out can chip off the chrome coating.
What size are those piston heads? The same size they sell on the site or did you contact them directly and request them specifically? For the 9.50:1 ratio?
Big fan of the Cat lumpy sticks. I started using them back in the day on my old 9A/ PL builds. They rock. Good shit on the solid lifters, smart man. Those rods are worlds better than the OEM ones. This thing looks the business fully dressed!!! I love the intake mani especially, all looks fantastic. Can’t wait to see it dropped in the bay 😃👍🏻
Somehow this didn't show up in my notifications when it dropped. Great video man, I never tire of good engine build content. Can't wait to see the finished product!
I love Mikes’s builds. But working at a machine shop myself I can’t believe he didn’t send the head to get decked for piece of mind. I mean he already sent the block... decking is pretty quick and really important as it will prevent head gasket failures...
@@mikeday3644 hey Mike i really appreciate the fact u read & answer. Love the builds. Cant wait 4 this thing to start! Also u guys should make some videos with the drift golf. And ur personal garage, I know u own some cool stuff
@ 4:14 "they usely turn copper colour as they wear" Copper colour means "worn". The "coating" is in fact the bearing material. The copper layer is the layer between the steel back and the bearing material. So when you see copper it is really, really time for new bearings.
I would love to throw this in my S70R. It is ABOSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL I won't lie I'd paint her a different color and probably you one of rywires kits to get that cordless (Bluetooth) engine bay look but that block is a masterpiece
What are you planning to do for the transaxle? Stock 944 won’t handle much power. Turbo units are better but still somewhat limited. Are there other, higher-power options you’re thinking about?
Great video I have helped with two stroke performance builds ,on a 4 stroke what specs do you follow on reassembly. Liquid cooled on a two stroke you set everything loose in p
I can’t find a turbo kit for the 07k motor, and it doesn’t come with y’all’s kit for the 944 swap… so what turbo kit are you running??? Send a link pls
Also is there a better head gasket than the shitty layered oem ones? I pushed water through mine and it resealed but it obviously doesn't like long 140mph pulls
@@ecstuning 🤷🏽♂️ you can’t blame a man for trying? Ugh, I just installed your HD strut mounts and koni sports on my 2011 jetta se. The suspension setup is phenomenal, now you're tempting me to turbo my 5 banger. One day >:)
Amazing build Mike! I'm curious what crank you used? Is it a forged unit from an RS3 or did you get an 05/06 donor 07K that had a forged crank? Cheers!
@@mikeday3644 that’s good to hear. I have recently built a 5 cyl Audi 2.2 AAN engine and I did not clean the oil passages very well after machining. Now after 4000 Km I still see small metal shavings in the oil filter and the oil have a metal tint to it when I change oil. Would it be possible for you to record the look and feel of the oil as the engine runs? Much appreciated.
Why was your valve to Piston clearance so close you had to reduce you cam advance? Would that not reduce potential performance with that extra few degrees of cam advance? Killer build!!!
The piston to valve clearance was tighter because of the higher lift cams. These cams should make quite a bit more power, even with a few less degrees of advance.
I'm curious what Mike is going to do about the open differential. It seems like most people buy a whole transmission from certain 944 Turbo cars which came with an LSD, but that doesn't seem like Mike style. I almost wouldn't put it past him to somehow make this build AWD.
The N/A diff is welded in this trans. The N/A trans isn't very strong and the turbo trans is getting hard to find, so I have a 01E kicking around to swap some day.
I was gonna RS3 swap my 2.5 MK6 but if you guys sold these as made to order crate engines I'd buy one if it's less than $8k like the RS3 junkyard engine

Great videos. Thank you for posting. Just got my Boost Bro's kit, and 07K engine. It will be going into an 86 944. Can't wait to get started!
I’m excited for you. I plan on doing one soon.
Thank you Mike, for never taking any shortcuts (no matter how small) on this gargantuan project. We know you do it all for us

Building a rabbit mannn
That engine is best part of this build.

Mike is awesome. Give him more projects!
More are coming!
So satisfying to watch an engine come apart and go back together.
Mike, well done! That turbo is INSANE! Now I know I can take my Jetta's 2.5l engine and do that to it. No particular reason but why not?
One of my fav builds to watch but man we get an episode once every couple months wish it was more consistent
these things take time my friend. Coming soon
Look sick 👌 making me want to hold on my MK6 2.5 Sportwagen and build it. Such an inspiration
I really hope these motors go unnoticed so I can get one cheap!!
Get one while you can! They're still reasonably cheap as of now

По какой-то причине во всех мануалах по ремонту написано, что нельзя вращать коленвал с не затянутыми крышками.
Did you need the cam phaser, or could you manually advance or retard the cam and leave it? Thinking of near duplicating your engine build.
It’s a weird thing, but I like the smell of assembly lube…
😢 how much did this all cost....
Ain’t to many things that sound better than a 07k at 8100rpm
👍Звуковое сопровождение видео очень громкое.
Condradulations, you just killed atleast 1000RPM worth of low end torque and spool for no reason at all with that cam advance mod.
