This is so interesting and just proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder cause I've genuinely prefered her with less/ultra natural makeup! I've always felt that the heavier makeup looks take away from her beauty a bit.
I agree. She is so much more innocent and ethereal looking with less makeup. I’m not usually one who makes ‘the before looked better than the after’ comments, but I’m making it now!
@h0rriphic yes thank you! I couldn't think of the proper word. She's beautiful either way, there's no denying that, but the heavy makeup makes her look so conventionally pretty and like everybody else. Her features are so stunning and unique that I hate when she covers it all up.
This makes so much sense now!! I have wider set eyes and wide eyebrows, which makes them look even wider. I also have a very youthful face. 31 years old and everyone thinks I’m maybe 19. When I do the no make up make up look, I still feel very blank and could never figure out why! Now I know.
I’m 63 years young and I’ve noticed I look washed out with natural makeup, or that “kardashian” lip look. I wear pretty bold makeup, meaning blush, bronzer, and lip, no eyes due to allergies. I get many compliments on the bold look and only comments of “are you sick?” when wearing natural. For reference I have medium olive skin, dark brown eyes and hair, so low contrast.
Wow, this explains what I’ve felt for so long!!! I’ve often felt like my face looks “blah”. I have a round face with wide-set, small hooded eyes. You pointing out how having wide set eyes draws attention to the blank spaces of the face I feel like rings true for me. And with a rounder face, I have a lot of this “blank” space. I’m just getting into learning to wear makeup. It’s a steep learning curve lol. But now I’m seeing how learning to define areas of my face with makeup can benefit me. I feel like even just coloring in my eyebrows, adding some lip color (I don’t do anything super bold because I have big lips so too much will draw attention away from the eyes), and doing simple eye makeup can help my face feel a bit more defined and less “blah”.
People cannot be following other peoples makeup routines, they need to do it accordingly to their face shape, color skin, undertones, complimentary colors, complexion, facial features, etc. Once you can identify them, it makes a HUGE difference. I have deep set prominent round eyes, a doe eyelook is better for me, than the siren eye… it looks like im trying to re shape my eye and looks off I am olive skin, orange wouldn’t look great on me like it would on a female with a darker complexion. (Very jelly 😩)
@flowerpower I agree with you for the most part. But I do think there are in between type of people. I have closer set eyes but because my eyes are very round, big and yiu can also see my eyewhite very prominent. My face is rather long [oval] and I have barely existing cheeks. I have a babyface and can't do siren looks either. It looks to off/strange on me. I get told I look to cute for any mature make up looks despite being in my 30's....Doe eyelooks look beter on me. I have a neutral olive undertone myself with a medium complexion and I find that orange clothing or accesoires look great on me. But orange lipstick looks terrible on me. On a sidenote that amy schumer insert was a serious jumpscare😂. Can't stand her cause she's t0x1c as hell!
I would argue that Anya is very conventionally attractive. She has an ethereal and unique quality, but if you define her face in features, then she absolutely is the definition of conventional beauty. Big ways, nice eye brows, decent lid space, perfect sized nose with not too much upward or downward projection (perfect?) Shapely lips with perfect ratio 1/3 to 2/3. Good forward grown which means her forehead is nice and chin. Great jawline and check bones. Wide set eyes can look unhealthy and uncanny on some people, but when you are pretty, it just adds to features. That's why Gemma Ward was one of the forerunners for models a decade or so ago. It was a desired feature. Also, let's not even begin on her body. Of course, beauty is in they eye of the beholder. I know you never claimed she wasn't pretty, but standing out of the crowd doesn't mean you aren't conventionally attractive based on what is considered "conventionally attractive". Love your videos, and so glad I've found you. Your content is useful and refreshing.
Thank you for your input! She is beautiful indeed - I think she has a very "otherworldly" look to her overall which was why I said she looks unconventional, but the way you explained her individual features makes total sense as well :)
totally agree, people see one quirky thing about her (wide set eyes) and think that she is unconventional though in every other feature she is haha no hate on her i love her btw
I don't agree at all. She looks great without makeup, she just has some features that fall outside what we perceive as conventional beauty, and she can make those features look more conventional with makeup. The way makeup always works... I also think she looked much better prior to her buccal fat removal.
What is with the seemingly endless amount of beautiful actresses having their face fat sucked out? It’s sad. Prematurely ages them. No doubt, when they are older they’ll be running to their doctors office to get filler pumped back in.
I have similar features to Anya and this is exactly what I've learned from trial and error doing my own makeup. Especially the soft eyeshadow to define the eyes. I wish I could have seen this video when I was first getting into makeup ♥
When i look at the mirror i think my makeup looks intense and great but when i take a picture with my friends i look super pale and washed out😂 i definitely need more makeup
This was an awesome video and really helpful! I do have wide set and large eyes with a shorter nose. And I have been trying to do my makeup lately more on the “no make up” side. But always notice that it doesn’t create as good of an impact as when I define my eyes more. This explains everything. I will go back to defining my eyes more, even if subtly for everyday ocassions. Thank you! As always, so helpful and informative.
I have very similar eyes to Anya's and when I was a kid I was called names like owl which made me hate them. Anya said she was teased for her eyes too 🥲 I feel uncomfortable with emphasizing them even as an adult because I still don't like them but I'm going to try to at least apply a bit more mascara at the bottom lashes! Seeing my eyes on pretty celebrities does help a bit and I can also use them as inspiration for makeup looks too.
I feel like I always hear stories about the most beautiful people in the world being made fun of their looks when they were younger - don't be discouraged! ❤️
Her distinctive negative space is exactly why the ultra lightened hair suits her so well because it reinforces her unique features and her beauty comes across in a striking way.
I absolutely love this video and your content! One thing I think is important with Anya to acknowledge is how cosmetic procedures/plastic surgery have creatively enhanced her distinctive features, especially when you compare how dramatic a transformation there is between Thoroughbreds (shot in 2016) and each year since then. Lorry Hill's video is quite helpful on this!
I haven’t seen Lorry Hill’s video specifically about Anya but she does go very much into depth about the different types of procedures which I appreciate!
Omg, I have always felt the thing about “eye drawn to the blank spaces” about my face and not known how to articulate it!! I have delicate/small features on a wide face and I feel like they get lost so easily. I wonder if this is why I feel like I look prettier when I wear glasses vs when I wear contacts… the glasses bring so much emphasis to the eyes!
It's funny you mention this because in my recent video about how to choose the right glasses for your face, I talk about this exact point of glasses bringing more emphasis to the eyes! :D So glad you can relate to my points
Everyone saying that Anya IS "Conventionally attractive", just stop. This is not about your opinion. This is about math. This is about the ratios of how people's facial features combine.
I agree - I like the dark hair on her! But then again she also looked great with red hair in Queen’s Gambit so I think she just looks great with everything 😅😊
Uh oh looks like I'm gonna have to buy makeup lol. The white of my eyes below are very visible and I have very fair skin. I always had the feeling something was missing but could never pinpoint it... Awesome video as usual, Jen! Love from France
Very interesting video with face ratios. At first when I clicked the video I was like no way does she need more makeup. But when you break it down I can see what you mean about emphasizing her eyes.
This is interesting. I have an oval face shape and a short middle third section. My personal contrast level is low to medium. My nose is rather prominent, so maybe more eye makeup would divert attention away from my nose? My problem is that my eyes are hooded with age.
Ok, so I have slightly close set eyes but with higher set pupils I think? And I have a slightly full face due to extra weight, though my face doesn’t naturally have a ton of blank space (diamond shaped with high cheekbones that show even with fat). I generally look similar with and without makeup, and I don’t look great in heavy emphasis anywhere-better if eyes but still not good because my eyes are hooded. So I don’t want to go overboard but I think I should at least define the bottom lash line to take away some of that blank space. But I have…eye bags/fat/not quite sure what under my eyes that are a bit darker. So would it look a bit stupid to define the bottom lash line considering the darkness under my eyes already kind of “defines” my eyes?
I think using adequate coverage in the under-eye area then using soft eyeshadow colors to define the size of your eyes would work! Sometimes if the dark circles are really prominent even though they do define the size of your eyes, the darkness can give you a tired look.
I think the dark eye make-up ages her. She looks younger and more youthful without heavy eye make-up. Yes, she can get away with bold make-up, but it drastically alters her appearance and she looks older. I have light blond hair and fair skin and my lashes and eyebrows are also very light. I also look very different with darker eye-make up, the contrast to the light features is very harsh and I have to go all in with make-up for the rest of the face as well to lessen this contrast and end up looking vastly different from my natural look, and also looking older somehow. This is fine for a night out or special occasions, but I personally want to look more natural and not fully dolled-up on a daily basis. But then again, my eyes are light blue and Anya's are brown, so maybe that's why dark eye make-up looks even more weird on me. Imo you have to be careful when you're (very) low contrast with blond hair and light features, dark eyes can overwhelm your face and alter your features more than a person with normal/higher contrast. A bit of mascara is fine and some lipstick, but heavy eye make-up is something else.
Fair point and it also does come down to personal preference! I personally think that since Anya already looks so young, adding a bit of age with makeup is not a bad choice but as you said it also depends on the occasion :)
Summary: if you have wide set eyes and very light hair/face use lots of eyeliner in the inner corners to define the eyes and make them look a bit closer together
i've been binge-watching ur videos recently and I love ur content!! I would love it if you could one day cover lip makeup that could flatter those who are less confident in their lips as their best feature (I have thin and small lips)! I never want to wear lip products because I feel like they bring unwanted attention to my lips but people have also told me that I look sick if I don't wear anything.
I think it’s personal preference. I by the way don’t do a full glam makeup look. I just do basic makeup. Not too much especially for the summer months. Plus too much make up makes you look older plus clogs your pores on your face with tons of foundation and powder.
I have wide hooded eyes with short lashes whenever I do my makeup and I don’t add lashes I look weird and it looks like something is missing also I have a small head so my nose looks big and all my features disappear.
Hmm I tend to think that women with big eyes, like Anya or Emma Stone, need less makeup. A lot of makeup (especially eye makeup) make them look a bit "too much". Meanwhile women with smaller eyes, like Mariah Carey or Catherine Zeta Jones, I think can pull of a lot of eye makeup before it starts to look too heavy on them.
I think it depends on the preference as well, but more so with Anya it's not just the big eyes, but her proportions that make her suitable for a bolder style of eye makeup as well imo :) Thanks for the input!
I love how you said that the standards of beauty being the youthful look shouldn't be generalised, as beauty is in the eye of beholder, and if someone wants to look more mature they should have a right to that. Many people would disparage tye new trend of BFR, but would have no objection to excessive surgical uses to get to look opposite, even though at the end of the day, they are both cosmetic procedures, that their recipients thinks they need. People should be more accepting if things outside of their norm, but it isn't sadly the reality. So this was refreshing to hear
As a lesbian, I am increasingly convinced that all women look hotter with NO makeup. But even if it makes a woman less attractive, even ugly, I’d prefer women wear no makeup. It is so sad how much money we as women are brainwashed into spending to change ourselves.
Soo… I’ve been all life a “natural makeup look” type of gal when I actually needed to wear more makeup 😅😂 please send help kkkkkkkk! I hate foundation! But luckily love lipstick, blush and highlight! Gonna try and work more on that …
This is awesome because my eyes and her eyes are so similar and now it makes sense why sometimes i make my eyes look small with makeup altho theyre big
I have a video coming out in a couple of weeks on different eye shapes! But I'll also add doing more deep-dive analysis for specific eye shapes in the future as well ❤
Always good to see this types of videos from you. It really shows you know your stuff. May I say, the audio is not very clear, seems echoed. But thanks for sharing and much successs to you.
I think Anya's the type where the visual weight of her eyes are understated because of her proportions (wide-set eyes, a lot of blank space, etc) which is why more eye makeup really brings her eyes to life!
3 hours ago???? Im so early and I love hearing about the other side of this topic!!! Your videos are always so informative and always make me feel better about myself and my features after watching them (even if my features aren't necessarily brought up)
People: Makeup culture isn't toxic, it's not inherently trying to tell women that they NEED makeup or that women's bare faces are innately incomplete 😊 Makeup culture:
For close set eyes you want more highlighter on the inside of the eye and darker on the outside to make the eyes look farther apart and for wide set eyes is the opposite to make them look closer. Her weird shaped eyes are more defined with more makeup i disagree
Obviously no one HAS to wear makeup. Anya looks a lot prettier natural in my opinion, her features are beautiful and she is overall light in her colors. Adding a lot of heavy, dark makeup takes away from her natural lightness.
@@stylerefinement I mean, that's why when goes on red carpets people think she had plastic surgery, but then you see her without make up, and it's the opposite.
I think Anya's cheeks are thinner due to growing up and maturing and not surgery. We lose what I call the "baby fat" at different ages. My twenty year old face was so chubby compared to my thirty year old face and so on until now in my 50's, less fat every year in my face.
I disagree. I think heavy make up under eyes makes her eye separation more prominent and she seems more alien. Her face gives corpse bride vibe, a little beyond “mature”
This model has slight exopthalmos. That seems to cause the inner rim of the lower eyelid to bulge out. Rather like a startled goldfish. And she has scleral show. The combination makes her look a little unhealthy without makeup. But very beautiful glass skin and perfect lips.
I think a lot of us subconsciously know what works and what doesn't for our own faces - it's just the articulation / explanation part that can help further clarify why you're drawn to certain looks more than others :)
One can always buy self-tanner for the face to achieve that tan, olive or bronze complexion! It's smarter and safer than baking in the sun! That's another option instead of wearing bold eye makeup.
This is so interesting and just proves that beauty is in the eye of the beholder cause I've genuinely prefered her with less/ultra natural makeup! I've always felt that the heavier makeup looks take away from her beauty a bit.
You're right - in the end it all comes down to personal preference :)
I agree. She is so much more innocent and ethereal looking with less makeup. I’m not usually one who makes ‘the before looked better than the after’ comments, but I’m making it now!
I prefer the less made up look as well. She’s naturally stunning. I feel like putting more makeup on her makes her look more conventional aka: boring.
@h0rriphic yes thank you! I couldn't think of the proper word. She's beautiful either way, there's no denying that, but the heavy makeup makes her look so conventionally pretty and like everybody else. Her features are so stunning and unique that I hate when she covers it all up.
@@stylerefinement yeah this video is kinda bs

So do I because of age related discoloration of the skin, disappearing eyebrows etc. I do use bold colours as well but I need less saturated colours.
I like her face better with brown hair
I do too, it really brought out her eyes and framed her face!
I started noticing her more and appreciating her beauty when she went blonde for sure
The bleach blonde hair makes her look more mature it suits her aswell as brown hair
she looks less memorable with it tho, she's going for signature hair obviously

She’s better without makeup, she has a fairy face and ethereal beauty
I kinda feel like she is the beautiful human alien hybrid

Personally, she might be one of few people who look quite good with the buccal fat removed.

Very interesting video with face ratios. At first when I clicked the video I was like no way does she need more makeup. But when you break it down I can see what you mean about emphasizing her eyes.
I'm glad you found the video informative!
This is interesting. I have an oval face shape and a short middle third section. My personal contrast level is low to medium. My nose is rather prominent, so maybe more eye makeup would divert attention away from my nose? My problem is that my eyes are hooded with age.
I noticed that heavier eye make up or eye makeup with darker colours/more dramatic makes me look older and somehow more harsh 😅
I'm the same way! I look younger with less makeup :)

i look súper similar to Anya so this intrigued me
I think the dark eye make-up ages her. I have wide hooded eyes with short lashes whenever I do my makeup and I don’t add lashes I look weird and it looks like something is missing also I have a small head so my nose looks big and all my features disappear.
Interesting video. As a near sighted person who wears glasses all the time, I find I need lower eye liner to bring out my eyes.
Do you think we need more eye make up if we have very light eye color , i always find darker irises need less definition x
I think it also depends on the size of the irises as well!
@@stylerefinement thanks 😊 x
Hmm I tend to think that women with big eyes, like Anya or Emma Stone, need less makeup. A lot of makeup (especially eye makeup) make them look a bit "too much". Meanwhile women with smaller eyes, like Mariah Carey or Catherine Zeta Jones, I think can pull of a lot of eye makeup before it starts to look too heavy on them.
I think it depends on the preference as well, but more so with Anya it's not just the big eyes, but her proportions that make her suitable for a bolder style of eye makeup as well imo :) Thanks for the input!
wow, the way this technique changed my face, thank you !!!
I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Great video, Jenn. Thank you.
You're welcome Virginia :D Thank you for the comment!
Do you have a video for a long bottom third? Thanks Jenn.
I do! Here: ruclips.net/video/6ZhQ-rzKFNA/видео.htmlsi=7i_b8KjAjssTw2un
I am learning so much from your videos. Thank you!
Thank you for always being so supportive ❤ Glad you're finding my content informative!
Excellent analysis as per usual! I learn so much from you with every video ❤
Thank you so much ❤ I'm glad you're finding the content informative!
I'm glad you agree! Standards and norms are what they are and they will always exist, but no rule saying that we need to blindly follow them ❤
High Quality content!
Thank you for the compliment!! ❤
She's gorgeous !
Agreed!
As a lesbian, I am increasingly convinced that all women look hotter with NO makeup.
But even if it makes a woman less attractive, even ugly, I’d prefer women wear no makeup. It is so sad how much money we as women are brainwashed into spending to change ourselves.
You don't need more makeup. You just need the right outfit and hairstyle to match who you really are. 😊
Soo… I’ve been all life a “natural makeup look” type of gal when I actually needed to wear more makeup 😅😂 please send help kkkkkkkk! I hate foundation! But luckily love lipstick, blush and highlight! Gonna try and work more on that …
More makeup doesn't necessarily mean more foundation! With Anya specifically more eye makeup is beneficial for her proportions :)
What colour season is Anya?
This is awesome because my eyes and her eyes are so similar and now it makes sense why sometimes i make my eyes look small with makeup altho theyre big
I'm glad you found the video helpful! ❤
Hey jenn can you please do a video on monolid Or non prominent eye dos n donts akso can u please include videos for asaian features🌸
I have a video coming out in a couple of weeks on different eye shapes! But I'll also add doing more deep-dive analysis for specific eye shapes in the future as well ❤
Makes total sense! Thank you😍👏🏼❤️
You are so welcome! :D
Always good to see this types of videos from you. It really shows you know your stuff. May I say, the audio is not very clear, seems echoed. But thanks for sharing and much successs to you.
She's not wearing a microphone in this one, I think
Thanks for the feedback! ❤❤❤
What if my eyes are neither wide or close set eyes? Is that possible?
Of course! It means your vertical proportions are balanced between your eyes :)
@@stylerefinement Oh really? Thank you so much😅
Is Anya wearing circle lenses in the heavier makeup photos?
😮 Now that you mention it, I see it too!
What would you recommend with small eyes and hooded eyes?
It really depends on the rest of your face and proportions!
Very interesting and useful content
Thank you - I'm glad you think so!
What is Anya's visual weight?
I think Anya's the type where the visual weight of her eyes are understated because of her proportions (wide-set eyes, a lot of blank space, etc) which is why more eye makeup really brings her eyes to life!
People literally say I look like Anya, so I'm taking notes😂
So I guess it would be opposites for bigger features and less empty space
Not necessarily! Anya still has high visual weight in her features, it’s just that her proportions are wide ☺️
how can I send my pic and have a consultation with you please!
Please check out the details on my website at stylemejenn.com! September bookings will open up on August 15th at 10 AM PST :)
Wallander eyes I think Ana's eyes are called
in my case i cant do these tricks because i have very prominent eyebrow bone and kinda downturned eyes xD
True - the shape of your eyes also plays a very important role!
Seu conteúdo é muito bom! ❤

3 hours ago???? Im so early and I love hearing about the other side of this topic!!!
Your videos are always so informative and always make me feel better about myself and my features after watching them (even if my features aren't necessarily brought up)
Thank you for the comment! I'm glad you're learning & finding comfort from my content ❤❤❤
Not sure why you call her "not conventionally attractive" - she totally is
I think she has a very unique look to her! :D
She's not. But it's not a bad thing.
Because she is attractive in an unconventional way.
she is not attractive, she is just nepo baby
ATJ has said herself that she got bullied for her looks as a kid
Buenos tips
I'm glad you found them helpful! :)
People: Makeup culture isn't toxic, it's not inherently trying to tell women that they NEED makeup or that women's bare faces are innately incomplete 😊
Makeup culture:
the title made me expect a rude video haha I'm plesantly surprised :)
I'm glad to hear that ❤
She has had buccal fat removal recently which has made her look more gaunt which isn't flattering.
For close set eyes you want more highlighter on the inside of the eye and darker on the outside to make the eyes look farther apart and for wide set eyes is the opposite to make them look closer.
Her weird shaped eyes are more defined with more makeup i disagree
They are usually those people with bigger eyes and fuller mouths and I have these features!
Obviously no one HAS to wear makeup. Anya looks a lot prettier natural in my opinion, her features are beautiful and she is overall light in her colors. Adding a lot of heavy, dark makeup takes away from her natural lightness.
Anya has sanpaku eyes!
Wow, I totally disagree. Anya is so gorgeous without makeup. Then again, I think everyone looks better without makeup 😂
In the end it's all about personal choices and preferences ❤️
Without makeup it kinda washes out her eyes, And maybe you just Prefer women with little to No makeup.
@@stylerefinement I mean, that's why when goes on red carpets people think she had plastic surgery, but then you see her without make up, and it's the opposite.
I wish i was pretty without makeup
I think Anya's cheeks are thinner due to growing up and maturing and not surgery. We lose what I call the "baby fat" at different ages. My twenty year old face was so chubby compared to my thirty year old face and so on until now in my 50's, less fat every year in my face.
Fair point! I think it’s likely a combination of everything!
I disagree. I think heavy make up under eyes makes her eye separation more prominent and she seems more alien. Her face gives corpse bride vibe, a little beyond “mature”
She’s very pretty without the makeup.
With or without I think she is very unique and gorgeous ❤
You must be mad.
She is so much more beautiful WITHOUT make up, by a million miles.
To each their own opinion!
Yes you are totally correct. Like you said beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
No one needs makeup. Period.
Anya is so incredibly beautiful.. probably the most beautiful woman I've ever seen 😍 she's out of this world 😍x
She is stunning! ❤️
This model has slight exopthalmos. That seems to cause the inner rim of the lower eyelid to bulge out. Rather like a startled goldfish. And she has scleral show. The combination makes her look a little unhealthy without makeup. But very beautiful glass skin and perfect lips.
😅😅 so i was right all along!!
The first time I saw Anya on film the only thing I could see was how widely spaced her eyes were. Like a flounder.
Does she know how to pose without her mouth open?
Nobody looks like her.
