💖 ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time RUclipsr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. On my channel you'll find lots of videos about drugstore makeup and drugstore dupes (those are my favorites to film!) but I also review high-end makeup as well. I hope you enjoy my channel and if you do, please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE & leave me a comment!
I admittedly always click the “like” button before I watch your videos. Why? I get drawn in and search your recommendations online and never want to forget to support your channel! Safe to say, I’ve never needed to go back and “unlike”….youre the best❤❤ Always click like YAll!
Same!!! Love Jen!!!
I do too❤😊
I do too!
Same❤
I click ‘Like’ first thing, too. No hesitation. When I open RUclips and see Jen’s face, I say, “oh, goodie!!”
Thank you for speaking out against Shein/Sheglam again!
Hi Jen! I am a freelance makeup artist. I went to esthetics school in the late 90s, and in the color theory portion of that course, they taught us about contrast. It makes it easy to explain to someone who is starting to do makeup and feels lost in what makeup they should wear. I am happy to see this making a comeback. It makes it less complicated for many people. When I worked at counters, I would explain that to my clients that were afraid of makeup. Thank you for this video and talking about this topic. Many people will benefit from it.
Aw thank you so much! I also felt like it was simpler to understand than color theory. 🥰
@@JenPhelps Yes, it is simpler than color theory. 🤗❤️
@@JenPhelps were either ColorClass or Colour Analysis Studio the channel that discussed changing makeup when where colors outside the recommended season? Both of those channels have shown examples where adjusting makeup shades or application (or clothing neckline) may help make a color more harmonious. I really enjoyed the video
There is only three people on RUclips that I honestly leave a comment or thumbs up and you happen to be one of the three. I appreciate your videos so much. I always feel like you were giving a truly honest opinion. Thank you so much for what you do.😊
Wow thank you so much!! 🙏🏻❤️
I love Kackie and watch a lot of her content and I’ve watched multiple videos on contrast. Try as I might I couldn’t understand exactly what we were looking at to determine. You honestly summed it up in a way that clicked for me and made sense! Thank you! So funny how we all learn in different ways.
I agree! I said the same thing. I’ve seen a couple contrast videos but never really fully understood them. Jen’s video explained it so well. I finally get it too! 😊
Kackie’s videos have been so helpful.
Aw thank you! I'm more of a visual learner so I felt like including photo examples helped me to understand it better and wanted to do the same for anyone who is more like me. :)
@@kathleenp3135 she’s a phenomenal artist.
Sometimes I just can't get to where Kackie is going. I get lost in the weeds. Jen, I followed you perfectly.
Jen, you did a really good job with this video. You are truly a content “creator.” You’re creating and making videos that are unique and different. That’s a tall order in the makeup content world. It took time to come up with the photos showing contrasting looks. You are doing research to come up with this information. Thank you!!! So fun and so interesting! ❤❤❤
Kudos to the teenager from the Shein story for staying calm and rescuing the scorpion, she sounds badass!
Yes!! Apparently they were going to kill it at first but then they decided to call the animal rescue place.
@@JenPhelps thank goodness!
Not the creature’s fault and imagine what it went through traveling in that package!
THANK U 4 TALKING ABOUT NOT TWEEZING YOUR BROWS!! I DID THIS in the 90's i had these beautiful full fluffy brows that framed my face beautifully and softly but it was the 90's i was 13. My cousin grabbed me and tweezed just a few and i loved it so i just kept going. Now i have these tiny brows that come back and all i want is my original brows back. I accomplish this now with using the milk make kush brow gel tubing formula in dutch med deep brown and the espresso lift n snatch by nyx and everyday i just put back my original brows. IT MAY NOT SEEM PERMANENT BUT WHAT HAPPENS IS YOU EVENTUALLY KILL THE FOLICAL AND IT DOESNT GROW BACK YOU GET PATCHINESS SO BAD!! DONT TWEEZE ABOVE AND ONLY TWEEZE STRAYS, THATS MY ADVICE❤😊
The other aspect is your brows get thinner with age. It’s just a natural process. So, if you overpluck when you’re young, you might not have much to work with when you hit your 50s. My mom taught me that and I’m so glad I listened.
@@Mrstriplejranch right makes sense I'm 46🫶🦇
Omg, it was the same in the 70s. I actually shaved my eyebrows. Gasp. I also got chicken pox when I was 14 & have scarring in & around my brows. For 10 years I only had half a left eyebrow & had to draw it on. The scarring causes brow pencil to not stick. It's very annoying. I now must use a combo of different brow products & it's time consuming. Don't over pluck.
@@yensid4294 yes I have a scare under my right brow it causes me to blend twice as long on my eyeshadow so I always start on that eye. Then I have a mole under the scar that hits where liquid liner needs to go to make my line correct and hooded eyes and I have to work around all this lol oh well life could be a lot worse I could not a home or food we are blessed if these are our issues!! 🫶🦇
@@Mrstriplejranch Fortunately, I didn't realize that thin brows were the in thing in the 90s, so I didn't pluck. But my brows have definitely thinned with age. I finally found a combo of products that make them look - not fantastic, but reasonable.
So interesting on the contrast topic - helps explain why I’ve struggled with red lips.
If you're low contrast and cool toned, try the Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Manic. It's the only red I feel comfortable wearing.
You are one of very few influencers I trust and respect. Well done. Congratulations 🎉
As an artist and former stylist I find knowing our color palette is very helpful. I feel best when I wear what’s supposed to work best for my coloring. I fluctuate between clear winter and spring, depending on my hair color. Figuring this out has helped me understand why certain tones, though I love them, look like dog dookie on me 😂
G’morning Jen :) I agree w/a commenter 😊, I have nvr had to ‘unlike’ ur videos,❣️ U deserve our immediate thumbs ups♥️👍👍👍
Aw thank you so much!!
Amen 🙏
So nice to watch and have some coffee! ☕️ Thanks for sharing ❤
I LOVE Robert Welsh!!!! He would have a lot to say about the contrast stuff too! He’s so good.
Yes he is! I just got into his videos more recently but definitely enjoy them!
Hi Jen, I so enjoy sitting down with you and engaging with you with your videos because you make it feel like I'm there with you doing makeup and talking about the day. But girl, with your conversation, brings knowledge and educational content about the beauty industry that I would normally have zero clue about, and I know that everything you say is factually true. I appreciate that about you because I know that I can trust you.
Also, you're an extremely talented makeup artist and gorgeous and we have very similar coloring and you give me alot of looks I can follow and do on myself that I would normally not be able to do so a big Thank You for everything you do! 🌺❤️🪻⚘️🌸🌻🌷⚘️💐💙
Aww this is the nicest comment, thank you Vickie! 🥰🥰❤️
Discovering this made such a difference in how I shop for makeup. Like you say, it’s not about “rules,” it’s just about giving people more tools to make informed decisions. Absolutely buy and wear whatever speaks to your heart, but if you find that what you’re wearing isn’t looking the way you want it to look, this info might be helpful. ❤
Exactly! :)
Contrast is seasonal color theory from the 80s rebranded. My grandma told me I was a winter (we are are pale with very dark eyes, brows and hair) and I’ve bought makeup and clothes accordingly since
Hi Jen, thanks for your honesty. This is why I continue to watch you, Emily Noel, Jess Braun and Taylor Wynn. Just good honest content that I feel you are honest about. May your work continue to stand out from others. I look forward to watching more.
Thanks Jen, I really enjoyed the discussion about contrast. I have light skin and dark hair and eyes. I have found it hard to distinguish the difference between everyday and full glam makeup on myself. I feel comfortable going out with a smoky eye and dark lipstick early in the day, and I don’t feel overdone. I don’t always do that, but I find a lot of colors can just get washed out or ‘lost’ (they don’t show up) on me. I guess I just wasn’t made for subtle. 😊
I felt the same way when I had dark hair and now I feel the opposite! :)
I think the contrast "thing" is very interesting, and I'm one of those you finally figured out why I never felt good in a red lip. I love that this theory actually can help people figure out how to make things work better for us by either adding more contrast to balance.
Great video! ❤️
Omg I didn’t hear abt that scorpion 🦂 SHEIN story. I would never buy anything from them or Temu. There’s a reason why there stuff is so cheap. I’m definitely going to check out that company where you got your sweater. I was just looking online for cashmere socks and sweaters. Amazing prices. Thx for the recommendation ❤
Love your videos Jen!❤. I’d love to see you do a foundation ranking video!
I can’t believe someone called you out for not doing sponsored videos! I think it’s great that you don’t!
Warm tones look really good on you. Your hair is warm too
I’m so glad u stopped using SHEIN and Sheglam because they are a horrible company. They treat their grown employees horribly, so I can’t imagine how bad they treat kids who work there. They r so incredibly bad for the environment and just a $hitty company. Some influencers went there and got paid and quickly assured us that everything was ok with the company because they paid them money. Yeah, those influencers have no morals. I’m glad u do. Also, thanks for sharing this. Now I kinda know why I feel uncomfortable with red or darker brown lipsticks. It seems more dressy. It makes sense.
I'm not being mean .
People will and have make false statements. Please show proof and facts 🤷🏽♀️
I am absolutely going to start tight rolling my pants at the ankle! Let's bring that back 🤣
Oh yes 100%!!!!!
OMg yes! I totally remember doing that! We were so cool back then! 😂
I am so glad skinny brows and matte makeup are coming back. I know if I waited long enough, it would happen. There is no coming back from the 90's for my brows. 😂
I'll add an amen to that 😂. The 90's were not kind to my brows either.
I totally believe the contrast theory, and your point about it can change with seasons, as well. I’m high contrast, but become more medium in the summer. It really explains why I try to duplicate a low contrast look I see a creator do and it just looks lackluster on me. I don’t bother anymore. It never works. My “nude” lips always are much darker than a lot of nudes out there. I look like a corpse with traditional nude lipsticks. It’s bad.
Right! I've known that I'm high-contrast (and Deep Autumn), but I never made the connection about nude lipsticks. They make me look like a zombie! I thought I was crazy - and my bare lips are definitely not the terracotta/cinnamon color I wear instead - and now it makes sense. High-contrast people can also play up more than one feature without looking stagey.
Happy Saturday Jen 💛🇨🇦 The story with the scorpion WOW, apart from that, everything that is fauna and flora, it is super dangerous for biodiversity... An animal or a plant from another country could totally destroy the ecosystem of a region, cause the extinction of plants or animals! You can not bring plants, animal all around the wold for this reason. This type of company are disaster for the society, the planet.. Very interesting video like always 💛
Please keep being honest. If companies were smart, they would want you to demonstrate how great their products are. You're my number one cosmetic influencer. 😊
Thank you for being you and being honest with your reviews. And thank you for not doing sponsorship. I usually fast forward on other youtuber’s sponsorship segment anyway.
I think as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned more about color theory to explain why I have always felt like certain colors don’t look as good on me. This contrast concept is very interesting too. Thanks for sharing!
For Christmas I want to get my colors done - like find my season.
🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍🍁🍁🍁🍁🤎🤎🤎🤎🤍🤍🍂🍂🍂 so happy for FALL make up!!!! Mario lip liner in Almond is so perfect I’ve just found with Merit slip lipstick gorgeous!!!
Interesting concept but it makes sense. My hair is lighter than when I got married and it seemed out of the blue that my husband told me I'm wearing too much makeup and I hadn't changed anything. Going back to a darker shade for sure. Thanks for another really interesting topic. ❤
I wish everyone could be happy with the brows they have -- thin, thick, straight, arched. If someone has naturally thick, dark brows, great, but I have hated seeing black monster caterpillars drawn on so many otherwise beautiful people in the last however many years. Overly heavy brows, if they're not natural, overwhelm one's actual eyes. But neither should they be tweezed to oblivion. Great video, as always!!
Good morning, happy Saturday 😊
OMG! Those roaches, bugs and scorpion! I have no words. I have never ordered any Sheglam items and now, I most definitely will not. I mean that is truly disgusting on so many levels. THANK YOU for giving us the heads up! When you showed the contrast comparison photos that brought me back to the days when I did color analysis at Merle Norman. It's not just makeup...it's also the clothing colors a person wears can make you look more youthful and sometimes washed out. I "think" there might be some color analysis apps out there. I loved doing it so much. You look good with literally every hair color. I had never seen you as a brunette and you rocked it! Love your present hair color! It's so pretty!
I think she looks better as a blonde, but the darker hair looked good too.
Thanks Jen, its getting harder and harder to find a trustworthy person like yourself. There's been a few I have followed for ages that hold true, some have folded and are "This is the best product, its all I use".. but then another brand on the next post, say the exact same thing!!!.... so I have stopped following some....others have gotten sick of it and taken a break from even posting.. and some, like yourself and Robert, just tell it like it is!! Thank you ❤
I'm medium contrast and I never felt very comfortable in a bright red lip as an everyday look. But when I saw Kackie's video on contrasts it made me want to try a more muted red and I loved it! A real eye opener for me! And now, I understand why I always feel like wearing more colourful makeup in the winter and lighter colours in the summer; it depends on my tan! The more you know....🌻
Love your makeup today! Since I have gone grey (with many different tones of grey) I’ve been loving a more natural look leaning toward the cool side. I was naturally dark haired but since my brows have become more sparse, I fill them in wth a cool grey brown now. My natural dark brown now looks too harsh.
My natural brow color is dark brown with a mix of light blonde hairs - I have no idea why. I've learned to use a blonde or light brown to fill them in and color the blonde hairs to look more similar to the darker ones. For some reason, using darker brow colors that match the darker hairs looks too harsh on me. To me, anyway.
I was going to say: well… another trend about low/medium/high contrast 🙄…but it makes sense! I’m latina, dark hair and eyes but I always felt red was too bright for me while looking gorgeous on my peers… but I’m light skinned with a yellowish tint in my face, that’s why a classic red or a Ruby Woo felt too much for me. I just need to recalibrate my color wheel and still enjoy a good red lipstick. Thanks for sharing Jen! I’m in my 40’s and still learning 😊
Yes!! I feel like I look good in a red that's more subtle and not as bright as what my sister can wear who has darker features than me. I usually wear sheer reds and they look nice! :)
@@JenPhelps Try the Manic shade in the Urban Decay Vice lipsticks! I have coloring similar to yours, and it looks good on me. Took me years to find a red I can wear!
Sounds like you need more of an orange red. I'm cool toned, so I can't recommend one, but the Revlon Super Lustrous lipsticks have a wide color range.
@@20thcenturyrelicI think Fire and Ice, Kiss Me Coral, Ravishing Red and Wild Saffron are some Revlon lipsticks that lean warm red/orange. They have a huge selection.
love the look. love the video. watched til the end and was sad when it was over
I’m so happy about the frosted lips trend! I’ve been waiting for that to come back. :))
Well, you go ahead and enjoy it. I'll pass; like Jen, it looks good on others, but not on me.
🙏💜 Hey, Jen! First, I have to wholeheartedly agree that the BEST 90s trend to come back in style would be "individuality." I'm a couple of years older than you, and I SO remember that time fondly as well! I've also enjoyed many of Kackie's videos, and her thoughts on contrast are really interesting. My coloring is very similar to yours, BTW. I have dark green eyes, but you and I are about the same otherwise. It's nice to see someone trying on makeup that looks so similar, but I also appreciate your opinions and perspective. LOL, I may have to start rewatching 90210 again! My goodness...that show defined our generation in so many ways! Take care, and thanks for a thought-provoking video on this beautiful fall weekend.
When I used to get blonde highlights in my hair, at some point I had more blonde than I did my natural brown. I remember doing my makeup and thinking, “why does my makeup look so off?” I immediately knew it was the blonde in my hair. I had went from being a high contrast to a low contrast and I wasn’t used to seeing myself like that. I went back to my natural color not only because of the makeup looking off but my hair needed a break from the bleach. Now that I’m a little older I use a medium golden brown hair dye and my hair is dark enough for the style of makeup I like yet light enough to not wash me completely out.
I loved all the talking points in this video! Especially the contrast discussion. Im really interested in a comparison in both formula and colors with the new lawless palette and ABH spice. All warm palettes but cheaper than ND I need a warm. If you don’t mind taking one for the team I would love that!
I watched and honestly never miss the kackie video. Changed my game!
IMO I think you look amazing in warm fall tones! I just think it compliments you so well! I am really enjoying your videos and content.
I love this look on you!!!
I am not a person who follows many trends. I never did the pencil brows and never will.
I love these 'hanging with Jen' videos!
I love your cozy background Jen!
I love love love my skinny brows!!!! I could not get with the thick brows. Not my thing. My face has very strong features and hooded eyes and the thin brow opens up my eyes. But to each their own. Do what makes you feel good everyone! ❤
I actually didn't think the darker hair washed you out at all..I actually loved it on you! I love the lighter hair too of course..but I loooved the dark on you!! ❤
Great video, love the varied mix of topics 😊 i would love a video about your experiences dying your hair. Different colours and techniques you've tried. Thank you for all the videos, hope you're doing well 😘
This was a really interesting video. I want to cry when I see all the Shein hauls. Everyone loves a good deal, but you can't possibly think those prices don't come with a human cost. I've seen quite a few Quince sponsored videos lately. Hopefully they'll send you some items in PR since you're already a fan 🙂
That would be nice! Haha but I'm happy to buy what I need too. 🥰❤️
Yayy another Jen video ❤
I watched a documentary years ago (though I can't remember the name) about makeup from China that was tested and found to contain lead and other harmful ingredients. I’ve also heard people complaining about horrible chemical smells from household products, shoes, and clothing from Temu and Shein. Because of this, I will never buy from them-our health is not worth the risks!
There are some excellent Chinese beauty brands, but Shein is just bad news
I enjoyed this GRWM with your thoughts on SHEIN, makeup trends and shady marketing. I don't watch many beauty creators and am not on Instagram/tic-tock so its interesting to find out what's going on out there! Thank you for your honesty and integrity. I have found so many products I use from your content!
Always nice to hear your thoughts. Please do not pluck your eyebrows too thin. It’s true they don’t grow back & you lose more as you age. So regret doing it
The best trend is to start appreciating our own individual beauty and differences. 'Pillow face' is terrible. I don't order from Temu or Shein. I'm working toward fewer nicer things. I appreciate this video!
Hi Jen, great video as always. I have noticed and been very conscious of contrast for years but didn’t know it was a thing.
Very interesting topics today and your look came out lovely. ❤️
re Shein... if it costs absurdly cheap, someone else is prob paying the "price" for you.
Absolutely! Temu is the same way. I think people get caught up in how cheap it is and don't think too far into it...I know I was guilty of that before.
@@JenPhelps Sometimes I look at the labels in my clothes where it says "Made in X" and wonder about the lives of the people who made them. That said, I'm not a fan of fast fashion, and I've started thrifting when I want something new. I've had surprisingly good luck buying items from my favorite brand on eBay.
Oh I really like Quince and was considering trying their cashmere. So far I love their linen dresses for summer here in Texas.
The contrast conversation made so much sense to me. I have a staple red lip color and I feel very at home wearing it, but when one of my friends tries it on she looks ridiculous and we bust out laughing. Just now realized it’s because I’m medium-high contrast and she’s totally low!
What a beautiful look; I like how it came together. I'm so glad that I don't follow trends & have to worry about getting/doing the latest thing. Why would I want to look/act like someone else. I don't give a thumbs up/like to any sponsored videos and I fast-forward through the sponsored portion.
Thank you for being here for me !
I am definitely high contrast and what color analysis calls a bright winter. I am glad to hear frosted and metallic lips are back because they look good on me, but I never stopped wearing them. 👄
24:52 yay! I love the thick stripes. I stopped coloring my hair a few years ago at 42 just to watch the beautiful progression of grays-I figure we only get one shot to watch that-however I do love those stripes! So fun. As a person who colored my hair for 30 years I’ve tried everything 😂 so much so I was shocked at my natural color and how much dimension it has, I had been paying hundreds of dollars every couple of months for dimension-you never know what’s under there ladies until you let it grow out! 🥰
Shein isn't the only company that hires child labor and convicts with sweatshops. Things also happen in H&M, Zara, and a lot of other fast fashion brands.
Absolutely! I don't buy from Temu either, or any of those brands you mentioned.
I have been watching color class which explains coloring as well! I am an autumn with neutral skin tone. I wore a camel color sweater and I got so many compliments
Same
Beautiful look! I appreciate your interesting content and your integrity! You’re the best!
I think the opacity of your makeup can make a huge difference too. Depending on what I’m wearing, if my hair is up or down, and considering contrast levels, the sheerness or full opacity of makeup on lips and eyes can highly impact the look. It’s always fun to play around with all these factors and come up with a “perfect” personal look.
I never thought about contrast before, but it explains why I am at home with bolder makeup (dark hair/light skin) and my sister is totally not (light hair/light skin).
Same here!! :)
It’s more than hair, skin tone and eye colour that factor in contract or lack there of.
Some faces just absorb colour and others reflect it. If your complexion naturally absorbs colour - you’ll need higher contrast, more opaque, saturated colour cosmetics. I have light skin, dark hair and hazel eyes. But my skin reflects colour a lot so I look better with lower contrast, less saturated shades that tend to be sheerer.
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. You provide so much information and I really learn a lot. Thank you for all of the hard work you put into them. Have a great weekend!!
I always trust your reviews cuz I truly know you're honest and put a lot of your time into testing/wearing before you do the video. So many influencers I unfollowed cuz I knew they were dishonest and just in it for the $
I think you look incredible with darker hair!!!!!
Thanks! I'm allergic to hair dye now unfortunately so I'll never be able to go back. 😥
I love how genuine you always are. Great video! The contrast topic explains so much! I think the Moira liners are duping the Too Faced plumping liners.
Really interesting Jen.I loved my country when we made our own stuff, the quality was outstanding,I worked in a sewing factory and the quality control was always checking work, when it all went abroad our job was to fix their shocking work.I wish I didn’t have to wear makeup but I look pasty I’ll without it lol 👍🏻🇬🇧🇺🇸
I kinda feel like we naturally gravitate to our contrast, I’m tan complexion with dark brown hair and eyes I can where heavier makeup and colors and look normal if I ware natural colors I look very bland. It is interesting to see why we choose what we do thanks for your great video! ❤
Great video as usual, Jen! The contrast theory explains why I look terrible in lighter lipsticks, I guess because I’m low contrast, too. “Nude” lip colors make me look so washed out.
Me too! I actually tried one once that made me look sick! I need a shade with some color in it.
I have a cool undertone, but hate the way cool toned eyeshadow looks on me. I always wear warm browns and it looks so much better. Clothes are a different story, I look better in cool toned colored clothes. I actually noticed your sweater color looks beautiful on you, but when I wear that exact color, it looks awful on me.😂
Hey Jen love your honesty on all products
The eyeshadow palette looks amazing & the blush see you soon ❤
Omg! I’ve been rewatching 90210 too! 😂 Such a great show!
I've recently gotten really interested in seasonal color analysis, and the most important take away I think is to see if your skintone is warm or cool and use makeup tones accordingly!
Absolutely! Undertones are a big piece of the puzzle but I think contrast is the first step...determining how deep you should go and then make sure you use the right tones. :)
Loved the video!! I always love your videos... Quick question, I am about 10 years older than you and have gone through quite a few skincare products for hyperpigmentation & dark spots. You don't look like you have many or any. Do you use anything for that or what would you recommend for that?? Thanks.in advance.... Have a great weekend 😊😊
My mom always gives my bf and I quince cashmere sweaters for Christmas every year so I have a bunch of them and they are such good quality!!
Just placed third quince order. I’ve ordered shorts, athletic top, fisherman sweater and silk pillow case. Have loved every item!
I tried the NYX brow pen today for the first time in Ash Brown, and it's the best pen I've ever tried! Thank you Jen!
Yay so glad you love it too!
I think I was lucky to have escaped the 90’s with most of my brows growing back. I wish I was told I could have shaved my brows to get thinner brows. Lol. I plucked and no one told me that they may not grow back.
Always love your videos Jen. I have had zero luck with anything from quince. I have had to return everything. IMO - their material does not last and it pills pretty easily. Their cashmere sweaters are nice, but their sizing has been way off for me.
Aw I'm sorry to hear that! So far everything has been ok for me for the most part. The long cardigan I got was a little too big and I could have sized down but otherwise the fit has been good for me. Cashmere is definitely prone to pilling (all of my wool/cashmere sweaters pill from every brand I have) and Quince suggests hand washing it to kind of slow down that process but it's a pain in the neck. I bought a pill shaver on Amazon and it really helps to clean up my sweaters and make them look like new!
I follow the rules. I have deep skin and black hair. I’m a winter season in color analysis. Red lip looks at home on me 😊 I also look great with a Smokey eye.
Contrast makes sense. I’m a blonde-ish (dirty blonde/light brown) with green eyes. And when I wear red lips I’m like Bam 💥 and I know it sticks out more.
Hi Jen, I always watch you entire video.. I love your content and I appreciate, admire and respect your honesty very much! Thank you 😊💕🇦🇺🙏🌻
I love all your informative videos. I’m definitely a low contrast and this is very interesting. Have you ever done a video on what type of brushes to use. Maybe a high end versus drug store brand.
Aw thank you! I haven't done a brush video but that's a great idea!
@@JenPhelps Yes, it is!
Hi Jen! Happy Saturday!
Jen, I totally respect your choice for not doing sponsorships! One more reason I watch your videos! I know I can trust your reviews!
A video on the history of brows would be fun. Fashion is cyclical, both in clothing and makeup, because people crave change and the fashion/beauty industry knows how to market change. Queen Elizabeth 1 made the no brow pale face look popular. The Roman’s loved heavy brows, men and women. Really kind of interesting, nothing’s new anymore. My mom over tweezed her brows in the 30s and they never grew back so she warned me not to in the 60s (Twiggy look) and late 70s (disco fever), when the rage returned. I did tweeze a defined arch but not full on skinny and wish I hadn’t even done that. Like you said skinny brows were popular in the 90s. This was a reversal after the 80s Brook Shields’ full brow look, and now skinny is back after a good stretch of caterpillar brows. As you say, do what you like. No need to conform, just do what you feel most confident in.
Thanks for sharing the horrors of Shein, I never bought from them and will never buy from them. The Lawless palette is beautiful, I love the neutrals, and I'm glad the metallics don't have too much glitter in them. I literally just bought one of the RMS lip oils the other day in the color Elle, it feels nice on my lips, very hydrating.
Interesting. I’m high contrast. Super fair skin and dark hair (level 5). It’s been hard to adjust to going grey.
That's interesting! I've seen a few people on TikTok say that when they went gray they went from high or medium contrast to low and it was hard to adjust the colors they wear.
@@JenPhelps, I never realized how dark my hair was until I started matching my natural hair color. My non white/grey now blends better rather than a stark over root (I may not be making sense). My foundation match is missha 21 bb cream. I’ll have to look more into this contrast thing. I hadn’t heard about it until your video.
I follow color theory. So if I’m wearing colors in my season It brings out my natural coloring
Lip injection toofaced lip liners are my favorite. They tingle for a long time. I love it.
I’ve been seeing the flare legs pants. I hate them. 🤣
