Hi Brian! Excellent work. Seen you on the Motoman channel. I’m a long time BMW driver and I’ve test driven the X1 twice but didn’t experience any drivetrain issues in normal situations. I was so impressed that I ordered one for my daughter. We will get it today so fingers crossed. Also considered Honda CR-V Sport Hybrid and Lexus NX 350.
@@BrianMakse I'd laugh but there's a lot at stake wasting fuel. Instead of getting joy from G forces of acceleration, I work on conservation of momentum. I'll use regular mode too but almost never sport...... There's other ways to drive fast that don't depend on flooring it. It's fun in it's own right and gets you looking down the road farther which is good carryover to other sports and activities
@@Hikebike365well, it’s probably not obvious, but I’ve been racing cars for 30 years and we currently run a team of three cars each with a twin turbo V8.
Great review. Thanks! We are in the US and were able to spec it out with an M Sport Package and 20” wheels all shadowed out. We got all options available and it has almost more (except engine and brakes, and real leather etc…) as my M4 does. For the money even completely optioned out, plus the cool color palette (we got Blue Bay Lagoon) it was a heck of a deal as a needed down-sized replacement for our big 7-seater SUV “boat” we used to own. Our X1 is scheduled to arrive in March. Thanks again for your reviews.
Pretty color for sure. Makes one wonder why they need a rear wheel drive SUV (X3) that is same size. I still say best BMW to get these day is X5. For the price of X1, I get a Honda Passport AWD with better front wheel drive dynamics and bigger size and better AWD and real leather. Unless one is looking for badge.
@@BrianMakse I just got my x1 today (having put a deposit back on August 30th)! I have the MSport Cape York Green Metallic (with mocha interior and eucalyptus wood trim_ and let me tell you, when I first got interested in the x1 (as I had my eyes on the 430i Grand Coupe until the specs for the x1 finally showed up last August) that color was not my choice --- brother convinced me to get that instead of the so popular gray, blue and whites... I took a chance, as the color in pics didn't appeal to me really. But today, while it was being PDI'd before I to get it this morning, I saw the color change to a blue/gray ... all depending on where the sunlight hits on the angle of the car ! It's a chameleon as it changes color! The long wait I guess was due to not having a vessel carrier to load onto... it sat on the docks after final assembly on 10/31 from 11/7 to about January 19th, when finally loaded, then the driver air bag recall while it was at the California Vehicle Processing Center...then it finally got on a ship to Oahu last week and arrived last Friday at the dock !
I am not really sure with this colour, more I looked it more i don’t think this is the right colour for me. I chose photonics blue, dark colour matches better with those silver elements, better in contrast. The green is too light. Looks weird in big cars

Thanks for stopping by! This X1 is impressive. The Honda and Lexus aren’t bad, either. Hope she enjoys her new BMW!
Great review
Do you know if you can set the car for sport steering and eco fuel mapping?
I'm big on fuel economy but love cars and driving.
I'm the yang to your yin on this matter. I see eco settings on the cars that I test, but I never activate them.

How do you think of this X1, like build quality, ride quality, predicted reliability? Thanks
Great review….play the stereo in the car too.
really impressed with the center storage console, it will hold 2 regular size pens and chewing gum,wow
You talk about a good view all around, but I find the rear seat headrests block most of the rear window view.
You’re right about that and I forgot to mention it.
the headrests fold down and you can also recline the seats a bit

Well, there's always a Mazda CX-50. I'd probably go in that direction at this price point.
I’m digging that color
Definitely not boring. Way better than the greys and silvers that Canadians buy.
@@BrianMakse word
A very nice colour!!!😀
It really is!

Don't like that color but the black wheels look nice.
The black wheels certainly ain’t doing the x1 any favours
Exactly.
Xoxo
