    You’re so right about #1. I’ve had a 04, 07, 13 5 Series. My last 13 series was a money pit and was in 2 car accidents this year alone. I was looking to move away from BMW all together because of that experience. But nothing I test drive compared to them. Sooo I picked myself up an x5 yesterday and I am absolutely “in love”! 😍😍

Yes there may be a vehicle that ends up being a rough one but that could be for any vehicle from what i've been through. It's super hard to get away from that BMW drive, we have off brand trade in vehicles and the only one that I thought came close to it was a Porsche 911.

    I have owned a 14 x5 35xi for over 3 1/2 years now. Bought it with 43,000 miles and currently has 80,000 miles. Haven’t had a single problem . All I’ve done is preventative maintenance. Cabin, engine air filters. Front, rear diff, transfer case, trans fluid change at 50,000 miles. Spark plugs,coils, coolant change at 60,000 miles. Also had the brake fluid done. I change my oil every 5,000 miles religiously. Ditched the run flats at 70,000. Oil filter housing gasket went bad around 60,000 miles but that was the only repair I’ve done so far. I plan on driving my x5 till it becomes a lawn ornament lol 😂. The key with BMW’s is preventative maintenance !! Don’t do the bare minimum and use cheap parts to save a few $ . If you take care of them and choose your models wisely with good maintenance they can be very reliable. But as far as my 23 x1 goes I love it. It’s a company car I’ll be driving for 30,000-40,000 miles. I also watched ur last video and am so glad you mentioned the deal with short cuts. I was so excited about the short cuts feature 😂 but I truly love my f15. It’s my baby and I probably take better care of it then my self 😂.

    I have my 2020 540i for just over a month now. Yes, I have fallen in love with it- the ride quality, the acceleration, the very quiet cabin. I only drive about 12k miles a year, but I do like to trade every 2 or 3 years. Unless I really like a car, like my 2000 Corvette. I kept that one for 10 years; it was starting to complain a little bit- fluid leaks, engine timing cover and rear axle. Time will tell about this BMW; right now, I can truthfully say that it is the nicest and most fun car that I have owned in my life, about 57 years of driving.

      @@javiersiado I don’t know about the US models, but in Europe the cars suggests an oil change about every 30tkm or so (depending on conditions). That in mind I’ve thought splitting that to 15tkm is preventive enough. And like said I’ve never had any problems. My last 5-series got up to 160tkm (100t miles) before I sold it and had no issues what so ever. Now enjoying the ride of 2023 X3. However, do as you seem best. There’s really no right or wrong here.

    Well done! Great advice for the first time (or second+ time ) Beamer buyer. Thanks! I'm interested in your advice about purchasing a BMW iX M50! I'm hooked on this EV instead of buying a comparable Tesla Y or X. The price is STEEP for the BMW and Tesla, but you get so much more for the money when you buy the BMW, in my opinion! What do you think?? Thanks!

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Год назад

      Hey Dan! Thanks for taking the time to comment and glad the videos are helping you! I'm assuming you meant either the iX edrive 50 or the iX M60? Either way, I would highly recommend them both over Tesla's.
      I will mention that there are a couple little things here and there that Tesla has over the Beamers such as door sensors, some tech, etc. But, at the end of the day cars are meant to be driven and that's what BMW does the best.
      Not only that, the BMW drive with Electric vehicles is better than ever before. Now with instant torque combined with BMW's handling and driving dynamics they are more ahead of the competition more than ever.
      The tech in BMW's is all up to date as well with things like Digital Keys, Advanced Voice commands / personal Assistant, so that is also a +.
      Hope this helps, I wouldn't think twice with going with the iX! You'll love it!

    • @BeamerView

      I’m quite sure all the newer BMWs are all going to have the mild hybrid system which basically prevents you from controlling the auto start feature.

Why does a $50k car not have this as standard equipment? My 2019 Ford Ranger truck had it after all. After having Adaptive Cruise Control for 3+ years I found it extremely annoying to have to turn my cruise on and off repeatedly on the highway. Another annoying thing is the lane keeping assist. I found myself fighting with it over and over. It wants to follow seams in a concrete highway and tried to pull me out of my lane a couple times. • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Год назад +1

      It would all come down to how long you plan on keeping the vehicle. I've asked the question myself and my whole service department as well and we all agree that we would NEVER own a BMW or even any car without warranty. Even though BMW is considered number 3 in top reliability, technology is technology and things can always fail no matter what car you have.
      I have a close cousin who owns a Toyota Camry and he said his sunroof wasn't working and the vehicle wasn't in warranty, and now he has to pay up $9K to fix it. I would invest in the warranty if you know you'll be keeping it for a long time. If you speak with the business manager and get the warranty upfront it's cheaper, and I would confirm but the portion of the warranty you do not use say for whatever reason you decided to get rid of the vehicle early, you can refund the portion that you didn't use as well.
      Hope this helps!

    What's the deal with the lack of Android Auto in BMW cars? I see BMW ads showing Android Auto (in all cars?) but not in the cars I see. The only fix is an aftermarket $800+ MMI box that must be [professionally] installed. There is also the risk of voiding your warranty by plugging in an optional accessory.

    Usually like bmw interiors but not this one. I unfortunately passed on the BMW X3 because it came with performance tires and here in New England won’t work for the winter. A winter setup is really an expensive add on. Also because bmw hijacks things like remote start and makes you pay for it.

    • @BeamerView
      @BeamerView  Год назад +1

      True, definitely have to have a winter setup, that includes rims and tires to get the best feel. Not cheap I agree.
      I also wish things like remote start would come free and included. It’s super useful anywhere and everywhere

      @JMF77 Год назад +2

      I kinda agree with you on the interior. That’s the reason I didn’t choose iX, because of the interior. Can’t you choose the set of tires when you buy the car? In Europe you can choose between many options and sets. I had my winter tires as friction type (no studs) (Here in Finland cars always come with two sets of tires (summer/winter)). And maybe not so popular in the US, but for example X3 30e doesn’t need remote start as it can cool/warm up the car electrically.

    • @HRCfan17
      @HRCfan17 Год назад +1

      @@JMF77 I believe here in the us there aren’t those options on the bmw as far as the tires. There is one wheel on the X3 that comes with an all season which is okay but it’s the base wheel and not that nice. All others come with performance tires and some are run flats and I’m not a fan as they give a harsher ride.

    • @JMF77
      @JMF77 Год назад +2

      @@HRCfan17 Yeah, I don’t like run flats either. Too bad the options for tires is so limited. All season is always a compromise and not a very good one. Therefore I always go with two sets. Lots of snow forecasted for tomorrow so here it starts - 5 months of snow driving. 😋

    Hi, just subscribed a couple of days ago. I’m leasing a X1 2023. If I wanted to tint my windows is that something I can do through the dealership or do I have to go somewhere else for that? Or is that something frowned upon by dealership and should not do all together.

    I've had three BMWs starting in mid-90s to mid-2000s. I stopped buying them because I can't keep them any longer than about 5 or 6 years. The ones from the 80s, 90s, early 2000s you could keep running for a decade without too much trouble. Starting around 2005 or so, I don't know what happened. No matter how well you follow the maintenance schedule, parts fail at around 6 years and they are monstrously expensive to replace. BMW = lease and dump only. I drive Alfa Romeo now; 5 years on Giulia Ti and nothing has broken yet. 🙂

Materials a bit below, visibility bad, utility bad, steering responsive but not accurate, comfort good, shifting good. Very tossable. Good power to weight ratio. But assembly is not perfect. Yeah, there is much more to tell about. After the first recall because of too heigh NOX, - the AGR valve and Lambda sensor were shortly destroyed (the new software caused too much of soot setting down on the AGR valve) (50T km), but BMW said I have to pay for this by myself. This year came a new recall because of -too much soot - and the danger of brand. They wrote in the letter I got “ it must be done or the vehicle will lose the approbation to drive” So I called the authorities ( Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt) and…. They said, it isn’t the truth !!!
      The recall is for installing of warning text - “too much of soot” but not any danger of losing the approbation for this vehicle. BMW decided by themselves for this threat of losing approbation but just used the name of the Authority. Maybe they got the rights to do it and be like an Authority! So as next they can maybe write to me, “I’m arrested” or so.
