I saw this movie when it first debuted in theaters. Watching it as an African-American really made me feel the tension of a working family in an ethnic neighborhood. Emotions, race, strength violence, growing up and growing apart, law and order...it's all in that movie. That powerful scene when the father buries his son after the OD - almost, I couldn't take it.
Man yo people hated them folks
You saw it in theaters? That's awesome
My favorite Cruzito line: "Juanito always loved me more than you, homes. You were always too much of a badass to love the little vato!"
David Rivera "Just like right now your so much of a badass you kill your own people"!!!!😂😂
It's sad cause it's true.
That line hit deep made me become a better brother
That line is exactly how my older brother is, too much of a badass to show love or emotion
Can someone explain to me how Paco who was clearly the leader of VL on the outside and Popeye who was a made man in la Onda but represented VL didn’t know each other? And how did Paco not know about La Onda if Popeyes brother is Chuy
It was cool that Danny Trejo was given his props for being in the movie. Though his part wasn't as big, his experience of being in S.Q. in his past was priceless in educating the actors and everyone behind the screens of what really happens and what not to do in the joint. For example, one of the actors was gonna pack a knife into S.Q. just incase things broke out. Big George found out and told Danny. Danny immediately told the actor " HEY ! We're actors. They are killers. Give me the damn knife ! " Also the information that Danny said about the actors wearing bullet proof vest on set at S.Q. Some of the actors refused to wear them. Taylor Hackford (director) told Danny to tell them why they had to wear them. If something broke out in " the Yard", the guards will know who not to shoot. The actors never understood the dangers of being in prison. Another experience Danny recalled about going back to S.Q....cell C550. That was Danny's former cell when he was in S.Q. and when him and Big George saw that, George glanced at Danny and almost started to cry. They went back into Danny's former cell and prayed to God to give thanks for their blessings.
That’s amazing ! You never forget the space you were in ! I gave my life to Christ 3 years ago after overdosing on fentynal . About a year into my salvation I was going with my church to outreach and we ended up in the apartments I overdosed in and I had a very similar moment like the one you described … the people I got high with didn’t live at the apartment no more but I evangelised to the family living there
This movie is so authentic that at times it feels like a documentary or a home video. A masterpiece so well written and executed a classic gem that will live on in the annals of movie history.

Blood In Blood Out will never die. Best and most underrated gangster film of all time. Truly timeless.
Blood in Blood out, Goodfellas, and City of God are the trifecta of greatest gangster films. Scarface and The Godfather rounds out the list. Do you agree?
@@JayCity10 need to add Carlitos Way to that list buddy.
Agreed, it’s been overshadowed by a lot of gangster films. Although I feel this story line draws the audience closer to the actors & actress. Making it feel like you have a direct relationship with them. Hands down thee best gangster movie of all time.
@@JayCity10 I’ve never watched City of God but I’d definitely put Casino in there over Goodfellaz. I agree Carlitos Way is another one too. I’ll check out City of God and get back to you on it.

I’m a 44 years old Swede, and I remember when I first watched it over here in Stockholm. We had no violence here so initially me and my friends watched to see gang violence, but just like the cast members said, it is deep, has multiple profound messages, and touched us as we watched it. It is about staying true to our people, making the right choices in life, shows how fragile our future is and how a quick slip up can change everything forever. Very authentic and an amazing crew!
I watch it again sometimes. It’s perhaps the first authentic gang movie ever. Now I’d say that Tropa de elite and those movies are similar, but still not.
There's nothing, no movie like this one, legendary.
All our generation was affected by this movie, and the Latinos here in Stockholm (Chilean and Peruvian mostly) acted and dressed like Paco and all of us cited all the stuff that only this movie brought, Viva la Vatos Locos!!!
Greetings from a fellow Swedish 46 yr old 😉

Dirk Diggler did you go to prison or college?
JOEGONZALEZ neither.. I was too slick to get caught and unfortunately not smart enough to make it to college but I do work hard to give my family a decent home
Dirk Diggler good job then, most people I know that watched this movie consistently ended up in prison. One of the most destructive movie to our sub culture, in my opinion.

The last scene with cruzito and el Gallo negro where that beautiful poetic speech about familia and raza was so well delivered that it resonates with me til this day, that wasn’t actingthat was pure heart and soul caught on film, period. @North Side Blu-Ray Paco tells Miklo if he is ready to get his placa only a leader would make that call...it is also why Cruz reminds Paco at the end of the movie that he was the one who started it all...
@North Side Blu-Ray Yeah agree with the plot holes I hate those... Magic knew who Miklo and Spider were as soon as Popeye introduces Miklo to La Onda he says this is Miklo from El Barrio ( shows VL tattoo so still have connection to the Varrio) and Magic says you’re the sucker that dusted Spider so this guys clearly know what’s going on out on the streets... I guess after watching this movie for 27 years and still watching you start to question plot holes like who’s the girl Paco is dancing with on the DVD case... Why did Miklo buy Popeye a tv after he tried to rape him...

I m Puerto Rican from NYC. I ve spent many yrs. living with Chicanos both overseas (military) and at the Univ of Santa Clara School of Law located in San Jose, Califas. This flic is the reality of prison life and within the East Los community. It s great classic for all La Raza to enjoy. But, pls don t think that prison is necessary in life. I know for sure that education is the way out of any bad hood. Take care my Chicano/La Raza Bros. and sisters & God Bless.

I was eleven when I first watched this movie. It changed my whole life. It taught me so much in the 2 hours it took to watch it. I would also like to see the original 5 hour film.
So the biggest take away I got from this movie is that whatever you do today, right now affects tomorrow, so you better live it with much love, wisdom, courage, and hope. This movie is what kept me out of drugs, prison, violence, and so much more. I'm chicano raised in East Texas and gangs were the popular culture at the time. I have seen this movie so many times I lost count. Like everyone else I often quoted many great and funny lines from the movie to cause a few laughs at work or around good friends. The way the movie is played before you it certainly makes you feel as you're part of the clika.
Much love and peace to everyone

Theres still enough cast members alive to make a part 2. It would be difficult to match the original movie but fans of the movie deserve another movie
This seemed so last minute. They need a real prepared setting and stage because this movie is a classic! Then they should (if schedules allow) get the main 3 characters, Vatos Locos, La Onda, BGA, AV'ers. The onset stories would be entertaining. Hopefully one day someone can arrange this.

"Ese La Onda don't shine shoes!"
Montana i met him in real life on a thanksgiving day. Most righteous down to earth guy. I wish i could see him in more movies.
Seriously. I seen him on a TV show American Family with James Edward Olmos. Other than that I don't think I've seen him on anything. I'm sure I have but can't think of it at this moment.
One of the greatest movies of all time hands down. It’s even still being watched to this day, and the actors all look like family, so happy, looks like they love this movie too, this is like the 10th time they did a reunion.
No pintos for you baby, nothing but Texas Barbecue 👍🤣
I just watched the whole movie for the first time a couple nights ago. I saw a little bit of it around the time it came out but never saw the rest. This was an amazing movie! The actors were so real. Wish Benjamin Bratt was here!!
This is always going to be the best flick ever vatos locos forever
Just watched it two times last week. I love the writing the authenticity in the way each character speaks it feels completely real as if you were standing with them through out the whole entirety of the movie
One of the greatest movie's for me. We loved it in South Africa when it came out. Wish they would make Blood In Blood Out 2 please.........
