My favorite part of the movie and really the most tense scene is when Miklo holds Clavo at knifepoint, everyone points their guns in a Mexican standoff, and the scene ends with them making a deal, telling Popeye he’s out, and everyone having a drink. Miklo went from living a straight honest life to being back in the crime game in a matter of seconds. Great scene.
I'm half Mexican, and so are all of my cousins. I felt so starved of culture-- watching this as a kid/young teen was connecting that culture for me. I love seeing these interviews years later. ❤ Most of these actors seem so humble and appreciative of this experience.
Fantastic interview. I took an intermission from my 50th time viewing Blood In Blood Out to watch this. He's so personable. I love what he said about Jesse Borrego. I was watching the scene where Paco tells him to stop using his little brother to feel sorry for himself and says "You don't have that right!" and the look of shock and horror on Jesse's face is so intense. He's an incredible talent. So many great actors in that film. Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed it!
Thank you for sharing, can't say I didn't notice the 33, lol, such an iconic number for freemason :-P, not to say black and white clothes on Jessie, however B& B out is to me one of the best movie I ever see! Thanks you so much for sharing! Theses are great actors!
Whiteboy here. So wen you hear a whiteboy/white girl say "vato locos forever" wen they see you. That's cuz a Chicano friend wanted to share that experience with us. And we loved it! 😀
I finally watched the movie in its entirety , I actually thought it was hilarious at the begining but I actually felt really bad for his character Miklo because he wanted to belong but he also had a heart and conscience to do what was right and he didn't want to be a bad guy and all the bad shit that happened to him just made my heart beak at the end when Paco starts blaming himself for creating the problems his brother and Miklo go through . The characters develop very well. I teared up when Cruz is speaking to Paco
I'm tearing up I am so moved to hear/see this. You are great! Yes loved Borrego since 1983. I'm from the test town that didn't have a gang problem when the movie came out, And I moved out west & married a non Anglo & I agree with you! I've been called white on the outside, red on the inside. Yes difficult for so many. Thank you for your incredible work, this upload & sharing you. I'm sorry that guy interrupted you 6 or 7 times. You were gracious. ❤
As someone of mixed race, half Mexican half white, Miklo was my hero as a 13-year-old lol. My father is Mexican and my mom is white, And I would always get teased because when I was younger I had really light skin. And my friends are mostly Mexican whould call me snowman or Miklo lol. And I didn’t know why they called me Miklo, Then I saw blood in blood out. And I was like hey that’s not a bad thing I’m the leader of La Onda! Vatos locos por vida! That movie is a timeless classic with a great ensemble cast Damien Chappa killed it playing his character. So did Benjamin Bratt. Growing up in South Oxnard, CA It was pretty much like that in real life. Some people grew up and joined the military like myself, others joined gangs and got sent up state, other people became artists, Successful business owners, and some went nowhere. But that’s life especially when you grow up in an area like that everyone’s life and Destiny’s are in entwined but so diverse. Great interview!
I honestly don’t know any other movies that Damien has starred in other than “blood in, blood out” so he’s right about that. They need to make a second blood and blood out - they really do… I would use the same cast if possible.
My gawd already will you people get together and make a part two already, how can such a popular movie not have a sequel by now holy shit just come together and get it done, it would be a huge movie today.
I really wonder why Benjamin Bratt and Damian are never seen together at any reunions. They must have had a fallout at some point. Also why doesn't anyone ever talk about Boulevard Nights that's another good movie too
Cause people love it, it’s a masterpiece. The movie, the cast and crew all deserve every bit of love for their work, and especially Damian never got the respect he deserved for an incredible performance

💯incredible scene, he’s so good in that scene, and the soundtrack is perfect
Miklo will always be one of my favorite characters of all time. Thanks Damien for bringing Miklo to life. Legendary.
So glad this man is doing great!! He’s still lookin’ sharp!

Netflix or Amazon needs to do a series on the movie ….. it was great …. And to this day this move is the best

He’s so humble and handsome!!
Yeah he's always been a humble dude. Much respect to Damien, and Miklo is a legend.
