Excellent training tool before you fly the real Q500! Yes, it needs additional scenery or enhancement modifications. Flying with sim last night brought all kinds of possibilities to mind. Can you imagine the following::
1. Add an FPV capability
2. Create a FPV tournament layout in that huge open field layout.
3. Keep track of points as you maneuver through the course.
4. Post scores after each tournament by username.
5. Allow practice mode and tournament mode.
Pilots are eager to compete their skills against other fellow pilots. The tournament capability could become highly addictive in an effort to get a higher score to be declared a WINNER!

I just got one of these and after a few hiccups getting the USB dongle and the ST10+ to communicate, I am having lots of fun "flying" my Typhoon (I have a Typhoon G, but am using the sim as a Q-500) without risk of wrecking my drone and GoPro. As others have mentioned, there is a sad lack of updates for other model drones and scenery options, but it is a nice way to learn to fly.
photoboyjet Congrats! And I agree...lack of scenes..... but, you may try to fly with the Yuneec Typhoon H....and test it, before you want to buy....

I'm really happy about this simulation. I got my drone for Christmas and between work and bad weather, I have not had a chance to fly it for more than a couple hours total. Thanks to the simulation, I am getting more confidence and familiarity with the controls. I've been flying strictly in Angle mode and have even given full manual (disable GPS) flying a try. Indeed, I have been looking at the Typhoon H. That will most likely be my next purchase!
Just got my Yuneec simu-connecor today. Hardware appears to work fine with my Blade Chroma's ST10+. However: on my particular machine (Asus gaming laptop running Windows 10) the sim program runs for awhile and crashes (window completely disappears). At first I thought maybe it was because I flew too far away from the start point, but it crashed even when I kept the quad close to the start point.
I'm looking forward to future versions of the flight sim program with more scenery and less crashes lol. Since I'm an early adopter, I figure I should patiently wait for the program to mature.
I don't much care about the fact that it flies a Q500 instead of a Chroma, I think they're close enough.

Hey - this thing actually works! For those of you, like me, that were very suspicious of this program - I'm a real person and I was able to install this program tonight after a few bumps in the road. Some of the links people are giving did not work for me, but going to this page: www.yuneec.de/downloads/uav-pilot/ and download from the link there did work. I was so nervous about the virus talk, I installed the program on one of my old Windows XP machines and it worked. I followed the instructions in this video and all went perfectly. I never received any virus warnings from Windows.The most helpful thing I have found so far is shutting off GPS in the simulator. I have not done that with my Q500 4K in real life yet. It is a whole new ball-game without GPS. I'm going to practice that a lot, because I would have been in trouble if the first time I experience that was in the field after loosing GPS.Sorry if I sound too paranoid about this - it is very weird how sparse the information about this simulator is. I have to think that there are many like me that are suspicious about it.By the way - I got the required USB dongle from Carolina Dronz.
I have a Chroma with ST-10+. I wonder if the Q500 sim is close enough to be a useful bad weather training tool. I'd hate to spend the money for the dongle then find out it's a totally different feel than the Chroma.

Die Anleitung zum Deaktivieren des GPS ist nicht vollständig. Um das GPS abschalten zu können, muß der rechte Geschwindigkeitsschieberegler komplett auf Position Hase stehen und die Motoren müssen angehalten werden. Erst dann läßt sich das GPS mit dem rechtem Steuerknuppel nach rechts gedrückt und den Modenschalter >4 auf und abbewegen das GPS deaktivieren. Aber nur bis zum ersten Crash. Es aktiviert sich jedesmal wieder von selbst. Leider ist das Deaktivieren über die ST10+ im Menue nicht anwählbar bzw nutzbar.

Yes I bouth Yuneec Q500-4K and one weake leater I bouth this dongle/simulator. And yes Its work very good. Its like fly the real thing. I bouth It fore a reason, learn to fly without Gps/Glonass. In case loosing signal. Therfore this simulator is fantastic training. Some houers With simulator and then mutch better))). Price on this was not bad eather. Yuneec have good price on their drones.
How do you get that much speed from the Quad on the simulator, what setting have you changed, mine flies just fine now but not as fast as yours. Thanks for the clip

I like the video and product review BUT Yuneec USA doesn't have them what's up with that, is there a problem with them they aren't telling us about?

As far as I know, the simulator was develloped by a German Software engineer, and offered to Yuneec Germany (where you can download it for free). One problem might be the availability of the USB-Dongle "Yuneec Yunsim". You can only try to get this part currently at the only known to me German distributor www.copter.eu (email and ask at info@copter.eu) or on eBay. But I assume that the USB-Dongle will be available officially outside Europe / USA soon.

Yes there is a problem the software contains a Virus or Trojan I found one using McAfee so use caution hope Yuneec finds a fix soon.

as I mentioned above, the software download from Yuneec Germany (or Copter.eu) is ABSOLUTELY CLEAN.
It's a misinterpretation of the program code, from only a few antivirus Software tools.
Hope the anti virus software developer will fix this soon...😊
If you'll download from the webpage mentioned in the video (Yuneec Germany), there is definitely NO virus!

It's a German software engineer product, which was offered and licensed first to Yuneec Germany/Europe (as far as I know).
So perhaps this may be the reason why the software isn't available (at this time) at Yuneec USA.....but it's only a matter of time....
+RC944jim I am also getting the same response from Mcafee. This is not Mcafees problem but yours. The antivirus company is just doing it's job. Ity is your responsibility to work with them and make this product work like other companies do. If it has problems than you have to fix them or stop selling the item until you do. Take responsibility for items you sell.

Ist ja kein Beinbruch. Ist mir auch nur wirklich aufgefallen, weil es eben mehrmals im Video vorkommt. Sonst hätte ich es auch einfach als Tippfehler durchgehen lassens. Sonst ist mir eigentlich nichts weiter aufgefallen. Habe aber auch nicht so genau geschaut. Aber das availibility ist mir eben direkt "ins Auge gesprungen", weil das Video sonst ja recht professionell gemacht ist.

As far as I know, the "Yuneec UAV Pilot Simulator" is designed for use ONLY with the ST10-Remote Controller, together with the USB-Dongle, which simulates the Receiver of a Yuneec Q500 Typhoon.
Nevertheless, it may perhaps work with a wired Remote Control of a "normal" FlightSim....there are dozens of them, which use several wired RC on the market.....I can't give a proper answer if this will work....so you'll have to try...
But IMO it won't work....

I've tried using the "UAV" flight simulator on two different OS. The simulation plays on Windows 10. But the "Simu-connector" (dongle) doens't work because their are no drivers for it. Now on a Windows 7 OS, (dongle) loads the drivers and after a little difficulty I managed to get the "flight simulator" down loaded, but it won't run because there is no 3D Driver for it... It was a waste of time and money for me...

I sent the "simulator" back. My pc kept treating the driver for it as a "virus" and would run it. Even when tried on another pc running Windows 7. Same results...
Hi, sorry to hear you have problems......the Simulator V1.0 is running without any problems on my PC and Notebook, both equipped with Windows 10.
The dongle doesn't need any driver. I guess it may be another problem on your computer.... BUT a few days ago Simulator V 2.0 was released. I posted the download adress below....

I didn't have the time to chase the problem down with the "dongle". But since the weather got better I went and started flying the Yuneec. It's easy to fly, stable, takes great still photos. Videos? Well I need a camera that can zoom in on subject matter. I changed the props that came with it for these German made, "Aero-naut Cam Carbon Light." Give more thrust, and they are quieter. Oh the microphone in the camera "Gimbal" is useless when flying. Just the constant loud buzzing of the props. Although the camera "Gimbal" is detachable and can be used with the Yuneec Typhoon Action Camera: A handheld three-axis stabilized "Gimbal", I haven't tried the one that came with mine yet. Or the 'follow-me-wand". I also would have liked it to be able do "Way-Points". But for starters, this is a great machine to learn on...

Oldbutspicy Hi, das habe ich noch nicht probiert.....da es aber nun auch einen Typhoon H im Simulator gibt, und die Technik der Originalen Copter sowohl ein Binden wechselweise mit der ST10/ST16 erlauben (d.h., die Funktechnik beider Geräte ist kompatibel) gehe ich davon aus, dass es möglich ist. Ausprobieren...👍
War gestern Abend auf der Suche nach einer Lösung, da ich etliche Fehlversuche hinter mir hatte. Nun kann ich sagen: Das klappt auch mit der ST16. Erste Hürde war das Binden... muss halt öfter versucht werden und mal den USB Steckplatz wechseln. Wenn das dann geklappt hat, hebt der Kopter immer nocch nicht ab... bis man Rad auf HASE! dreht.

I personally tested the Simulator on my Netbook Asus eePC - 1.2 GHz, 2 MB RAM, integrated graphics, Windows 7, later Windows 10. Though the Hardware is quite weak, the Simulator was working with 15 to 20 Frames/sec, which is quite useful for a Training.
Depending on your hardware, the Simulator should work Even with Windows Vista.
You may try it by downloading the FREE software, install, click "Start Simulator", then pause , and wait some minutes. The Simulator will then perform a Demo, and you may know then, if your notebook power will be sufficient for a useful gameplay.....

After you opened the simulator, a popup will mention that the USB Dongle should be plugged in.
DON'T cklick on "close/exit ", otherwise the program will close.
Just click on the "X" upper right corner, to dismiss the popup...

Just search on Google for „Yuneec UAV Pilot Software“, or go to the Yuneec Webpage, goto Support-Downloads-other, and you will find the Download Link for „UAV PILOT“ Software. To make it more easy for you, I‘ve just done it a few seconds ago 😉...

Why pay for a dongle....Perhaps Yuneec should pay this guy & make it free to all Yuneec Drone owners..... after all you need a ST or ST+ for it to work
+Romano You can't really spin up the blades in the copter to test the flight, so the usb stick I assume has the logic of the quad without all of the dangerous bits that turn on.
***** The dongle is for copy protection I would say.....just another way of making $$$$

Yes, of course.....both the ST10/+ are able to connect to the USB-dongle, which simulates the Receiver of a Q500...no problem...👍

if you'll download the Software from www.yuneec.de (see link in the video), the package is absolutes clean!
There are only one or two antivirus software like AVG(e.g), which are over sensitive and misinterprete the program code als "Virus".
Please, don't make panic, don't fall into panic.....
The Yuneec UAV Pilot download from the Link mentioned above IS CLEAN !

+Uwe Loewer wrong there a problem all I did was run a VS scan on the Zip file and it found a problem, it then shut my McAfee scan off and wouldn't let me turn it back on it turned flash off on my browser it deleted my browser home page and put a couple .ini files on my desk top so I would say there is a problem. McAfee quarantined the file in question but it was to late.

all I can say for 100% sure is that some thousands of user downloaded and run the software without ANY issue, like me.....
and a dozen of friends I know personally did the same.
Lots of american users, who ignored the false virus "warning", after advice, are having fun, and NO problems on their PC.
The Software was programmed by a famous german software engineer, which has developed some of the most actual well known best selling 3D flight Simulators here in Germany.
Norton AV did NOT recognize any virus, neither did Kaspersky.
AND it's well known, that SOME AV-Scanner give false alarm, because they aren't prepared for some complex programmed NEW Software.
It wouldn't have been the first time......
Why don't you send the file, or at least a hint, to YOUR AV- Software Developer, to let them make an individual proof?
To me, the result will be very obvious.
Or install another recommended AV Software.
Download from Yuneec Germany Server only....Virus FREE ....

Your PC might have another Problem....did you install other software before?
If your Scanner found a problem on the zip file, and put it into quarantine, THIS file definetely is NOT responsible for the trouble on your PC....
BECAUSE it was put into quarantine....
Meanwhile, the Software was downloaded and installed on thousands of Computers....around the world....
What Do you think, would have been the reaction worldwide, if there would have been REALLY a problem like yours, on EVERY PC?
A real hurrican would have blown through the Internet.....
