I waited a long time to work up the nerve to fly my Yuneec..You saved me...I waited far too long to try and fly this baby... after 4 days of practice I screwed the pooch.. hit a tree limb...oooof! Just had my first crash.... and the wire that makes the cam tilt was yanked loose. Thank you so very much for this video :) Must say Yuneec are pretty awsome as well to actually have the possibillity for such an easy fix. I love my yuneec :)

Great video! I bought an aftermarket battery that went from 1/2 capacity to nearly empty after about 10 minutes of flight. I flipped the "Home" switch when controls went a little spotty. Unfortunately, the drone drifted away to get to a safe distance and in the process hit my Magnolia and separated two bushings and clearly one or more of the wires connecting the camera to the three contact plates. Honestly, I had no idea were to start investigating the issue and this video saved me a ton of troubleshooting. Great instruction that was very easy to follow and resolved my issue perfectly. Thank you!

I have just had an small accident and one of the wires of my camera wasn't at its place. Thanks to you I don't have to be worried about the camera cause it has recovered all of its functions :) Time to investigate about "puffy" batteries (Dunno if that's the correct name)

To be honest I though that was always suppose to be on there that cord, but what you said did happen to me and I thought I lost my camera but thanks for making this I fixed it in a few minutes the rubber bushing you really have to push to get through but all is well!!!!

Thanks so much for your video. I crashed it in a tree in my garden after 30 sec of my first flight (apparently because of smart mode, the drone went away from me because I was too close and it crashed). I felt so bad and I followed your instructions and that works perfectly now :). But I think I will try also to fix the 3 wires, look easy to solve anyway. Thanks again from Belgium :)

Hi Chris, thanks for sharing this helpful tip with the Yuneec Q500! I had a crash today in Smart mode and my gimbal came apart. The camera is not broken just need to try this fix. Is it a small black cable that plugs into the white port on the back end of the camera and then the other unit plugs into the body of the aircraft? I have to thread the rubber gimbal bushings back into the gimbal and fix a small crack in the camera lens cover but the camera itself is not broken.
Thanks for making this video, when i first bought a used Q500, that jumper was already attached into his belly, and thought it was a wire to connect the camera gimbal going to the quad, Early this February(2020) i bought a new Q500 and saw this jumper wires not connected to the quads belly, so now as I've watched this video, that jumper wire doesn't need to be attach if the quad has no issue(Brand new) or problem, correct me if i understood your video..
Hello! Thank you so much for the info about the wire replacement grouping!!! On my VERY FIRST flight, the craft crashed and the gimble that holds the camera came off just as you are talking about!! I went in and looked to solder them, and couldn't quite get the one last ground wire soldered. So, the $1000 Drone I was so excited to get and start using, has sat for 2 months after 1 15 second flight! Came across your video and was so relieved!!! Cut the 3 wires and attached the other. The camera has started flashing green again, BUT now I seem to of lost ALL contact with the ST 10 command center!! I have 12 satellites, but everything else is blank!?? And if i push System settings, or any of the 3 bars at the bottom of the screen, it says i will lose all contact w the drone?? What did I do?????
It seems to of reset itself to a :beginner" phase of the process and not the plug n play feature it was like when it arrived. Any help would be appreciated!!! I know I know will need a company to work with while learning, and buying new things to upgrade or replace, and am SOOOO glad I saw your video on you tube!!!! Thanks again!! Scot

I have an H which broke off (the channels holding it to the copter are extremely thin and weak) . I'm a little confused since the stuff I have read and videos I have seen all say that the contacts between the camera and the copter do nothing. I must have a newer version where that is not the case. Is that possible? I do not see the connectors on it as you show. Also wondering the best way to fix it once I get it apart. I am hoping the wires I see don't need to be soldered. It's hard to tell without taking it apart which I have not done yet. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks
My gimbal came apart mid flight 3 wires came out but I noticed when it landed some sparks when I took it apart it looks like the circuit board has burn spots. I think it shorted out board, because when I added the extension wire provided I don’t have any working camera or movement from gimbal. So can I still get a new board to replace or I have a gimbal cgo3 from typhoon H will it work on the typhoon 500 4k.
Is there a replacement wire(s) for the ripped wires?. CGO2 is different from the CGO3 camera...
Don't have the drone beside me. One of the three wires came off on the camera side where they solder on to the circuit board. Will this solution work, assuming I have that separate wire somewhere (got the unit from a friend).
Have a ST10+ with a CGO3 4K camera. Crashed it yesterday and the wires came loose as described. Any idea where I can find this bypass cable??
i crashed my q500 . is there a new camera shell i can buy for the cg02 camera and is it hard to replace just the shell. i can do the connection as you described in your video but would like to change the shell if possible
Have you attempted to modify the Yuneec Q500 with a Intel RealSense R200 Camera Module? How would one do so?
I have a similar problem in my q500 4k.
The crashed 2 or 3 times and after that when you turn it on it looks like the gimbal cant recognize the axis!
It transfers the images to the controller and even records the video but it doesn't stabilize! it just stays like if its turned off, so my images are totally unstable!
I even tried to connect it with the secondary wires but doesn't seem to work, it's probably a gimbal's problem.
Do you know how i can fix it without spending too much money?

The only way to fix the gimbal, is to send it to us. We have parts and calibration software that is only available to Yuneec authorized repair centers. Pictures would be needed for an estimate.

Now we need a video on how to solve the issue with the freaking CGO3 fan noise. It doesnt let me record audio because its just annoying to listen to that buzzing when using the Steady Grip.
I'm all hooked up with the extra pigtail, but the st12 still says "failed to initialize camera" at the top. The camera is flashing green green purple. . . Any ideas?
hi good video I've used the one u connect with the GoPro the gimbal seems to work but when I face it forward it tilts to the left any ideas how I can fix this what is factory reset on the controller help
awesome video. I assumed this would fix my problems. only one wire broke off my drone. I am using the wire and I am still having no gymbal functions at all. camera turns on and works great just not self leveling or movement at all. Any thoughts

Bummed. I crashed the copter. Purchased the wire off of Ebay, plugged it in and it says cannot connect to the camera. Crap. What do I do now. I wonder if when it crashed it destroyed the ability to connect or if the wire I bought is defective. I tried plugging it in a few times and it will not work.

The tiny wires that run thru the camera frame snapped . Does the jumper wire replace those wires?
My Camera is trying to rotate and turn in a way that makes it tilted and of center when active, anyway to correct that?

Hi, my q500 4k had an accident and took off the 3 cables you mentioned in your video, I placed the cable that comes in accessories and the camera returned to work, only that there is a problem, the camera does not tilt up and down in the typhoon using the st10 +, but it does tilt on the steadygrip, what can I do? already reset the st10 + to factory mode but still not working, please help
It is very possible that one of the boards inside the q500 went bad. When those wires break, they tend to cross and short circuit the part of the drone that gives the camera the command and control. It is hard for us to say without looking at the machine.

Outstanding video! Found a crashed Yuneec H Realsense on ShopGoodWill.com for $310.00. Upon receiving I found a broken "A" arm, missing camera bumpers and three sheared wires. My question is: What happens to the cable backup design if it suffers another crash? Does the connector rip out? Perhaps a designed shear point in wires is a good idea.

Filmed on my Yuneec Typhoon H 4K drone to a micro 64gb card. Every LAST film file is unable to open stating that a error has occurred and unable to read this format. Out of 10-13 files, the last file always doesn't play, yet will play on the controller review system Any suggestions
You may have to reformat your SD card. Try reformatting it and then try again
hi ya which version has the contact points as i think is a better idea than the plug in.
+stephen strassen The earlier version did not have the contact points and the wire was required. We first saw the contact points in our shop in February of this year. Not sure when it was first manufactured this way. The ones with the contact points can use either the wire or the contact points. I hope this helps.

Yuneec Q500 4K CG03 Camera won't connect to the ST10+ , during start up it jiggles then settles down, there is a slow flashing green light from the gimble, I can pitch the camere up and down with the st10+.

I crashed the drone the first flight I had (certified refurbished) and the jumper cable was already connected. Now I am getting the Cgo3 to turn on and display a green light, but the gimbal won't stabilize.
Sounds like the mainboard may have shorted. Whatever the issue is, it can only be fixed using Yuneec's calibration software that the certified repair centers, like us, have. To have it repaired go to www.terrestrialimaging.com/repairs/ and fill out a repair ticket to get the process started.
put some small wire ties loosely thru the gimbal bushings.....
We do that for all cameras that come through our repair shop.

Sounds to me like there is a busted wire somewhere in the camera that is preventing power from reaching it. We are an authorized repair center so if you needed some help we would be glad to assist you. Check us out on our site!
i did all all that very carefully but the gimbal is lifeless no power, is there is something else you can recommend? its a same that i cant use the gimbal and nobody cant give me a idea what else can i do.

Heyas Chris- I appreciate the information here. A crash forced me to take this route and everything works including gimbal control and video capture. Although I am unable to take a photo now. I keep getting a message that says "image capture failed". Any ideas? Thanks!
Glad the video helped you out! In regards to not being able to capture video, a few things could cause that.
1. Test different SD cards
2. Make sure the video start/stop button as well as the photo start/stop buttons are not jammed
3.Watch our video on the CGO3 pro mode, as it gives you another option on how to unlock advance photo taking features which might help.
4.Also, be sure the SD card is not full. A full SD card will prevent new pictures from being captured and saved.

The camera is a GoPro has nothing to do with the gimbal, the gimbal itself is the problem, can anything be done at this point.
My apologies, because the video is about the CGO3 camera, I was assuming you were referring to the CGO3 gimbal. Parts for the GoPro are no longer available. At this point you would have to call Yuneec directly, and even still I'm not sure if they can help you.

100% Bad choice(temporary) Easy is solder this wires.
This is incorrect. When these wires break they often cross and short the main circuit board. When you use the gimbal connection wire instead, it completely eliminates the chances of the main board getting damaged. Thank you for watching!
