Very helpful video, Andy. The undocumented lighting pattern you describe is also found on the Q500+ . . . it really threw me the first time I saw it flickering purple briefly in an otherwise solid green. How often do you calibrate the compass? How often do you calibrate the accelerometer?
If the Q500 4K is Test flown @ the factory, & "Ready to Fly" Out of the box, "Y" would U calibrate it first time before flying?... I have "Never" done a "Calibration" and Have "NEVER" Had a Problem... Isn't North, South, East, & West, the same every where?..
Great job on video Andy! Thanks for the tips... Have you seen or heard of anyone having issues with gimbal not being level with horizon after proper boot up sequence? This issue is intermittent and the work around is to shut down and reboot... kinda like a Mac and not quite to the point of the dreaded 'blue screen of death' for Windows... just sayin' Point of interest; i have notice that the camera/gimbal connection no longer 'clicks' into its mate. Nothing seems to be broken on the male connection, which has the tab to release. I do switch from the handheld to quad often. So perhaps this could be a loose connection issue... further investigation is needed. Not liking that i can gently pull on the wire and it pops out. Duct tape is your friend :-) NOT!!!

Question: I just got a 2nd replacement drome and I think the factory wipe the entire memory of the drone. It says not connected. It says it is initializing but the screen shows N/A on mode, GPS, SAT, POS etc. It seems like the memory was swiped away. What can I do?
You can go right into the calibration menu to calibrate the compass or accelerometer. No need to hold stick and toggle any longer, which is a great thing.
+dfizzbom Agreed! However, if you have the sunshade attached, this method is quicker than having to reach through and navigate with your fingers. It's nice to have choices!

Hello there, I just got the same drone 2 weeks ago and yesterday tried to fly it and then when I went to home mode the drone wants to go somewhere else!!! Even the arrow on my transmitter it shows that Home position somewhere else , so do you know what’s going on ?
What type of battery life are you guys seeing with the 4K? I flew today with very little wind and got my first warning at approx 12 minutes and I landed immediately. Also I noticed some battery swelling. I'm sure this isn't normal. Should I try to get Yuneec to replace my batteries? Once they swell, there's no way to get rid of the swelling right?
Hi Andy, will you please show the Q500 4K Accelerometer Calibration (Not the Compass), I have a bit of an Idea, but I will not fly until I know about this Calibration.
thank you for the update on the LED light codes . my FW 1.04 from the first day has the same LED solid then flashing color code as in your video , maby my Q is labeled wrong and has FW 1.05 installed . any way to know for sure . thank you

Try this several times, Nothing. Then I turn off q500 and turn it back on. wait for beep. Hold down red button, Motors start, What the heck? works backward. What do you think?
+Alain Lai If you want to get indoor footage, here's two ideas: 1) Use the included SteadyGrip; 2) Remove the propellers and walk around holding the copter. Otherwise, I'm not the one to advise you to fly indoors!
+Alain Lai Copters are an emerging technology and at the current stage flying indoors carries a fairly high level of risk. Yes, various DJI models have a positioning system, but there are many factors involved that can create problems. Can it be done? Yes. Can problems occur? Yes. It's risky to the copter and others. Just my two cents.

Did not understand the toggle instruction before you Calibrated the Q500.
You can go right into the calibration menu to calibrate the compass or accelerometer. No need to hold stick and toggle any longer, which is a great thing.

+Julian Stevens ask for rreplacement.. your battery is new and should not swell at all.. and you're right, once it swell, no way to get rid of it

When you first power on the copter, make sure it is on a level surface. Most titled horizons result from starting the copter on slanted ground.
