This is one of THE MOST FAMOUS songs in history from the greatest pop band in history. 28 hits, 9 #'1's, and almost $500,000,000 records sold worldwide! Glad you are discovering them!
The majority of the press in Usa and Uk slagged them off and fought them like the devil. They were considered Swedish outsiders to a place that was supposed to be ruled onlyby British/American acts. But the more they stabbed them the more we fans loved them and bought their records in phenomenal quantities.Unbelievable record sales and WE made them big cause we loved their music and them as people. They had become inseparable part of our lives.
Even Swedes turned on them because back in the day, Sweden's Socialist movement didn't agree with the 'success and wealth' they gained. Like all of their critics, they've all confessed their love and respect for this legendary, iconic Pop Royalty group. Nobody comes anywhere near them in the genre of 'Pure Pop' ❤️
The second-most successful band of all time, after the Beatles. 50 years later they're still as popular as ever. And yes, the Agnetha (the blonde) and Frida (the brunette) are stunning :-) Here are some of their biggest hits: - Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight) (it's been sampled by Madonna, so you might recognize it) - The Winner Takes It All - Take a Chance on Me - Chiquitita - Voulez-Vous - Fernando - Mamma Mia - Money, Money, Money - Does Your Mother Know - Super Trouper - Thank You for the Music - Knowing Me, Knowing You - Waterloo - The Name of the Game There is so much more, but I think this is a good start.

ABBA's record Greatest Hits (1992) was the second best-selling album of all time in the UK and has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Dancing Queen is being played all the time, everywhere! Of course you know it! ❤😊
All of their songs are amazing ,with perfect vocal harmonies ,unique at the time in how they recorded their vocals, they were an instant hit ,and are the biggest group in the world .
If you've ever seen the movie "Mama Mia" it is filled with ABBA songs including this one. My favorite ABBA song is "Fernando", they wrote and recorded it after meeting a older Hispanic gentleman that had fought for independence in his country. They not only sing it in English but Spanish also. Loved your enthusiasm for ABBA, they are absolutely timeless.
i love them , grew up on their music , SOS , Knowing Me Knowing You , Take A Chance On Me , The Name Of The Game , are just a few that i have enjoyed over the years

Dude, you need to catch up!! Best group ever, ABBA forever!!! Today's youth are beginning to love them as much as the kids in the '70s. Their music is turning out to be timeless. This group sold more records/albums than any other including the Beatles.
Yes, you are right. You have heard it. This song has been overused, raped and destroyed by so many. Glad you have gotten to the roots. It is impossible to taint ABBA. They are untouchable. Thanks and God Bless!

The Broadway Musical, Mama Mia, was filled with ABBA's hit songs. It was turned into a movie of the same name and then a few yrs after its release a sequel was made using many of the same songs plus some additional songs from the ABBA song book. Other ABBA songs: Take A Chance On Me, Fernando and of course their song Mama Mia.
I was a teenager during the 70's/80's. It was a wonderful time to be young. People were happier, relationships were closer, life was more care free, and the music was incredible. Attending concerts was a huge thing to do among young people back then. We loved it. Concert tickets were not that expensive at all. The groups my friends and I loved were Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Lynrd Skynrd, Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Triumph, 38 Special, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Rush. ABBA is in the top 10 of album sales of all time, selling around 400 million copies. Though I wasn't and am not a huge fan of theirs, their songs bring back a ton of wonderful memories.
second most successful band in history!! 23 unique world hits and 400+ million albums sold. A great part of their album tracks (±125 songs..) could have been hit sin my opinion. It will be a great journey exploring them further!!
Enjoyed your reaction ! This worldwide hit is one of popular music's most iconic songs. It has been used in so many movies and television sitcoms. After dominating the '70's, ABBA took a break and went their separate ways in 1982. Almost 40 years later they decide to come back together and give their fans one more album titled VOYAGE. The album quickly topped the album charts in over a dozen countries. In addition a high tech concert hall was built in London, the ABBA Arena, to showcase their Voyage live in a concert like no other, It is an experience, has to be seen to be believed. You must react to another huge worldwide hit of theirs titled 'Take A Chance On Me'
You deserve a reward for best actor...for pretending you dont know who ABBA is....they actually never broke up and ABBA is an acronym for their names....
Abba are Pop Royalty and nobody has stolen their throne. Masters of pure Pop. Legends. The official video for this song has had more than 660,000,000 views (2 thirds of a billion) on RUclips
Almost forgot one more of my favorites by ABBA, "Chiquitita" (chick-ee-tee-ta) the lilting harmonies are breath taking. Thank you so much, I'm truly enjoying your deep dive into ABBA.
"ABBA" is an acronym formed from the first letters of each group member's first name: Agnetha (the blonde), Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid (aka Frida, the brunette). They were two couples who eventually split up during the last years of the group.
@@jrtmanmd I always wondered how the two ladies got along. Frida recently gave an interview where she said Bjorn and Benny "wrote songs specifically for Agnetha's voice...was I jealous at not getting some of the best lead parts? Yes!"
These are some of their other hits that you might’ve heard before: Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!; Mamma Mia; Take A Chance On Me; Waterloo; SOS; Money Money Money; Knowing Me, Knowing You...
I was a little kid when I first heard of ABBA. I didn't know anything about Sweden, that it was a whole other country outside of the USA. I was only 5or 6 at the time. 😁 They were a massively popular supergroup with a bigger fan base in Europe than here, but we loved them too! Who doesn't like ABBA?!?! Who doesn't know or never heard Dancing Queen? Everyone knows this song in some way - radio, movie, TV... After decades of refusing to reunite, they recently got back together for some special or a tour or something using computer CGI & holograms of themselves...??? I don't recall the details, just saw the headline announcement when the story broke back in late 2020. My top faves are - The winner takes it all, S.O.S., Fernando, Take a chance on me, Does your mother know, & Voulez-Vous! Oh, I also love Gimme, gimme, gimme! That song is 🔥🔥🔥 too! What I love most about ABBA's music is that while most bands/groups develop a "signature" sound that is uniquely linked to their style of music, ABBA songs sound vastly different from each other because they tap into other genres - Pop, rock, disco, country, techno/dance, Mexican/Latino music, along with the use of orchestral instruments like horns & strings to accompany their guitars, drums, piano, etc. For example: Dancing Queen sounds so different from Fernando which is completely different from S.O.S. You never know what sound you'll get when you hear an ABBA song for the first time, but one thing is for sure, it is all great & timeless!
ABBA were a massive hit in Australia and around the world. The boys wrote the songs and the girls sang the songs. They also wrote musicals two of which have been made into movies. Mama Mia which starred Meryl Streep was the first one. Their return album in 2021 is great.
It’s one of those guilty pleasures. ABBA were such a kids group, and nobody in their late teens (especially guys) would ever admit to liking them. But secretly, most of us really liked them. How can you not? The songs were so catchy, the harmonies so good, the arrangements so tight. And that’s why they have stood the test of time.
There are not many bands who could top the UK charts with a 19 song greatest hits compilation 9 years after their break-up (1991) and then do it again the following year (1992) with a completely different 20 song greatest hits compilation. Welcome to the rabbit-hole that is ABBA. Every song (including the hits that didn't make it onto either compilation) is a gem. I'd start near the beginning with "Ring, Ring" and take it from there...
@@eduardooscar309 You could've started with "People Need Love" (1972) off the "Ring Ring" album (1973). It was their first Swedish #1 song but was recorded when they were still Bjorn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni-frid which is why I didn't suggest it. "Ring Ring", itself, was their entry into the 1973 Eurovision Song Contest and is, therefore, their first serious attempt to gain international recognition. It wasn't selected by the Swedish judges but still became a hit in English in Northern Europe and beyond (#1 in Denmark; #2 in Austria, Belgium, Norway and Sweden; #3 in South Africa; #5 in the Netherlands and #12 in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe)) and achieved some airplay in the UK even though it never charted. The English lyrics were written by American singer-songwriter Neil Sedaka after the original Swedish language version, with lyrics written by long-time manager Stig Anderson, had reached #1 in Sweden. The song is also the first example of the over-laying recording technique that would become such a feature of the ABBA sound. I think that this makes it ABBA's first international hit. Perhaps not quite worldwide, but widespread, nonetheless.
@@grapeman63 Let's see most of all of us who write here the comments know the history of ABBA quite well and what we try to do is help whoever makes the reaction video to discover Their career (and even more so when it's for first time) then it is better to suggest best known songs, eg. their #1 or the most views on RUclips that is the reason why I suggest "Waterloo" (and in Eurovision especially) because it's as iconic as "Dancing Queen" and it's their first worldwide hit as might also have suggested, among others: Mamma Mia, Fernando, Take a chance on me or Chiquitita, etc and I would wait a lot longer to see "Ring Ring" when already known at least 10 great ABBA hits
@@eduardooscar309 I think that if you really want to experience the progression of "their career" you should start at the beginning. Only then can you experience the development of their distinctive sound. Cherry-picking only US or UK hits and hearing them in a non-sequential order means that you can never truly understand the development of the group.
THE US PRESS DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION TO ABBA, THAT'S WHY DANCING QUEEN WAS THEIR ONLY N1 HIT IN THE US. THEY REALIZED WHAT ABBA REALLY WAS WHEN ABBA GOLD CAME OUT IN CD. SAD THEY MISSED ALL THEIR MUSIC AT THAT TIME FOR BEING SO SELF INVOLVED IN MUSIC.
Girl with golden hair,, had three marrage. First with one of the group singer than broke down and disbanned the group. 2 &3 marries both husband dead. The third hushband was a english business man and die. Then came the reunion with the group song is shut you down.
Dancing Queen have been in so many movies, series, shows, covers you could not even begin to list them so no wounder you have heard the song. ABBA is without doubt one of the 10 most successfuls gruops of all time. They where offered 1 BILLION DOLLARS in 2000 to reunite ... they declined.
According to Wikipedia, the song was covered by a Swedish ABBA tribute vocal group vocal group, named The A-Teens, and their single was released in 2000 in the US. "Dancing Queen" also appeared in the 2014 film, "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb". The song also appeared in the 2018 film, "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again".
Yes, you are correct - Bjorn is on guitar & Benny on piano/keyboards. The ladies are the usual lead vocals, but the boys sing back up as well as lead vocals sometimes. One song is a favorite of mine - "Does your mother know?" Hope you check that one out along with the list of other ABBA hits. Another rabbit hole or I should say, a deep cave, for you to explore! ABBA music is a lot of fun, just like the Bee Gees and... KC & The Sunshine Band! 😍
It's difficult to believe anyone has not heard of ABBA. One of the most famous pop bands of all time and 50 years on from their beginnings, still active with a new album and a new high tech concert in London. Maybe you heard it on a radio? Do you have a radio? They've been playing that song for 40 years on radios.
ABBA was one of the greatest bands during the disco era. In 1974 they won the European Song Contest with their song "Waterloo". Although I was just a child I was very shocked when they announced that they would break up. After their breakup the two men, Björn and Benny, still wrote some musicals together, including "Mamma Mia".
Abba and The Bee Gees were in the '70s same way Beatles and Stones were in the '60s.Abba is still big deal.Considered only 2nd to The Beatles. They owned the a whole music era.Twas officially anounced that their VOYAGE concerts in London right now have extended due to huge public demand.Over 650,000 tickets sold from 27th May '21up to previous month!
@@antonwiderberg7571 I know. I wrote about their musicals. Nevertheless they have been played a lot as dance music. At least in my region. And the 70s were the disco era. At least we called it so. And there were good bands and bad bands. Imho ABBA is one of the extraordinary good bands. "Dancing Queen" is a song that refers to a young girl dancing in the disco. "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" is totally disco music. I can name others, but my commentary would be too long. Elvis is regarded as "King of Rock'n' Roll". But he sang Blues, Gospel, Rockabilly, Country. Forgive me if I forgot a genre.
Fun fact: Annifrid (the brunette) and Jon Lord - playing the organ in Deep Purple, was quite close friends. She sang at his memorial shortly after his death.
ABBA ( Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, Anni-Frid “ Frida “) is a band from Sweden who were initially active from 1972-1982. The Name comes from the 4 members initials. They were 2 married couples but both marriages ended in divorce in the late 70’s / early 80’s. Their big break came from winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with Waterloo. Benny wrote the music and Bjorn wrote the lyrics, Agnetha and Frida share lead lead vocals but the magic happens when they sing together “The 3rd Voice of ABBA”. They have sold over 400 million albums worldwide. Their music is the bases for the musical Mamma Mia and the 2 films Mamma Mia ! (2008) and Mamma Mia Here we go again (2018). They were approached a few years ago to put on new concerts using digital versions of themselves as they were in the 1970’s and as a result of this they decided to record a couple of new songs to be performed as well as their older hits. They enjoyed recording them so much that they decided to do a new album called Voyage which was released on 5th Nov 2021 almost 40 years after their last Album The Visitors and has sold over 2.5 million so far. I suggest you listen to the Greatest Hits Album entitled ABBA GOLD which was 1st album to spend 1,000 weeks on the UK charts enjoying 3 spells at number 1 (1992, 1999 & 2008) and today it is still in the charts. but also listen to their Album songs and b sides because they contain many a hidden gems many that could have been singles.
Btw The amount of sales you reffered to the DQ single as noted in Wiki is usually based in certifications alone or in some formats and is just an indication that doesn't always concern the final summing up of the actual total amount sold in all categories. So It's certainly not only 4 million but far more than this.Imagine this is considered their most popular song also due to being N01 in USA.But their ballad FERNADO had estimated sales over 6 million of pure vynil copies in the '70s and 10 millions up to now almost all formats.
I think this is one of those songs that is just everywhere and a lot of people don't know where it came from. Two other hits of theirs that I love are "Take a Chance on Me" and "Waterloo."
Benny & Bjorn from Abba said they will never ever let their music be used in commercials. Some movies yes,but also not in a music sample. They only let two people use their music: Madonna and Foo Fighters. They said that they have to listen to the song before letting anyone use it.
Great reaction, thank you! Check out more - so much amazing music here (well yeah, every song)!! Probably the best pop-band ever! Greetings from Sweden.
Mama Mia is a great movie, there is also a sequel. A couple of male actors in it you might recognize. Singer Cher is in the second movie. Almost a lot of ABBA songs are in that movie.
The broadway show and movie called Mamma Mia had all of their songs in it. When people went to see it on broadway they would get up and sing the ABBA songs
Great song great reaction. Yes they are from Sweden. The guys wrote and composed the songs and the women took turns on lead vocals.. their harmony is incredible. In fact they could not speak english when they first started singing. You can catch their accents sometime during a song. They were two married couples. ABBA was a mega mega group. Only the beatles had more hits. Yes the Beatles. They have a huge catalog. Try Fernando. Chicquitita, the winner takes it all.
Sticking with ABBA disco vibe, they had a lot of hits that weren't disco as well, I will request "Voulez vous" You will probably find you have heard a lot of their music before somewhere, they are a cultural pop phenomenon.
They are a rabbit hole:( waterloo, eagle, money money money, kiss of fire, summer night city, gimma gimma gimma a man after midnight, sos volez voles, mamaia ,ring ring, the king hasvlost his crown and as good as new.)......
I can attest that being a teenager in New York during the disco era was an absolutely great time, and don't get me started on the other variety of music, they all contributed to the great sounds that came out throughout time,
If you are USA based then do know that they weren't such a household name in the States due to different culture(were more Euro sound based), rather hostile music press there and lots of prejudice. But they didn't care that much.Cause they were huuuge almost elsewhere in the globe!A longlasting music culture phenomenon for ages and ages that many gens , of various age and even diverse music listeners, still love, either admitting this or not.Now they are more acknowledged than ever.
Give Supertramp a try you'll love the saxophone solos, bass guitar with the wa wa pedal , drum solo. Try "Fools Overture" live concert in London 1977. Like ABBA they have the synthesizer, that made people sit up and take notice. Read the lyrics beforehand it'll make the words easier to understand. Heck I even made a bet with my best friend that I would marry their drummer someday.
Additional songs from ABBA are, Waterloo, Momma Mia, Take a chance on me, SOS, Fernando (personal favorite), Angel eyes, Winner takes it all......and so many more. I was dancing to them the whole time in Jr high thru high-school and probably off tune, but hey they made us all dancing queens, 💃
It was used in the movie Mama Mia, along with many other Abba hits! Also, when you think Abba, think 70's disco! You could have heard it anywhere, there are probably about a good 6 of their songs that are played a lot, an Dancing Queen is one of them.
I knew every word to every ABBA song growing up….I still love them fifty years later

Who doesn’t know the pop group ABBA or their songs in this world? Surprised!! Am from Africa and ABBA is huge.
Gimme Gimme Gimme for sure
You should react to their songs "The Winner Takes It All' and my favorite "Fernando".
These is ABBA, the iconic Swedish pop quartet, the best, most versatile and most important of the 70s, in the post BEATLES decade (the revolutionary group of the 60s)
ABBA, as in its time BEATLES, was a musical and cultural phenomenon, and its legacy lives on
ABBA is an acrostic with initials of their first names; initialy They was two couples:
Agnetha (blonde lead vocal) &
Björn (guitarist and songwriter)
Benny (pianist and songwriter) &
Anni Frid (brunette lead vocal)
(both couples separated before the end of the group in 1982)
"Dancing Queen" (1976) is a beautiful song, which shines in the loftiness of its vocal harmonies
the blonde singer Agnetha is soprano voice,
the brunette singer Frida is mezzo soprano voice,
and blending together made the famous and fantastic 'third voice of ABBA'
And the music is bright and enveloping, from the initial chord it introduces you into the atmosphere of the disco and invites you to dance
English public has voted it as one of the songs they want to hear the most, because of the feeling of joy and energy it gives them (another is "Don't stop me now" by Queen)
And in 2015 "Dancing Queen" was included in the Hall of Fame of Rock and Roll music
ABBA recording between 1972/1982, have a wonderful series of more than 20 worldwide hits (and also 50 another great songs), included nine #1 in UK:

What a shock, Eduardo posting 'War and Peace' on an ABBA reaction video - just like he does on every single ABBA reaction video on RUclips.
Best pop group ever!
"Where have I heard this?"
Everywhere.
ABBA They Were Big !
ABBA is the best band ever
Abba are Pop Royalty and nobody has stolen their throne. Masters of pure Pop. Legends. The official video for this song has had more than 660,000,000 views (2 thirds of a billion) on RUclips
Almost forgot one more of my favorites by ABBA, "Chiquitita" (chick-ee-tee-ta) the lilting harmonies are breath taking. Thank you so much, I'm truly enjoying your deep dive into ABBA.
@Marcia Ramirez "Chiquitita" one of my favourites too. It's beautiful.👍🏾😍❤
They made a comeback album after 40! Years.
"ABBA" is an acronym formed from the first letters of each group member's first name: Agnetha (the blonde), Björn, Benny, Anni-Frid (aka Frida, the brunette). They were two couples who eventually split up during the last years of the group.
Wow, thanks... I never knew that!
I love Abba!! I was in high school when their songs came out. You pronounced it correctly
ABBA were a massive hit in Australia and around the world. The boys wrote the songs and the girls sang the songs. They also wrote musicals two of which have been made into movies. Mama Mia which starred Meryl Streep was the first one. Their return album in 2021 is great.
They came up a movie show called ( ABBA the movie, its about austraile concert, and inter view by a reporter..)
Well put👍
it's better begin with "Waterloo"
because is ABBA first worldwide hit
and so iconic as "Dancing Queen"

Let's see
most of all of us who write here the comments know the history of ABBA quite well
and what we try to do is help whoever makes the reaction video to discover Their career (and even more so when it's for first time)
then it is better to suggest best known songs, eg. their #1 or the most views on RUclips
that is the reason why I suggest "Waterloo" (and in Eurovision especially)
because it's as iconic as "Dancing Queen" and it's their first worldwide hit
as might also have suggested, among others:
Mamma Mia, Fernando, Take a chance on me or Chiquitita, etc
and I would wait a lot longer to see "Ring Ring" when already known at least 10 great ABBA hits
💙💙ABBA 💙💙 Thanks for researching before videos!
this song is an abba original they wrote all their own songs
According to Wikipedia, the song was covered by a Swedish ABBA tribute vocal group vocal group, named The A-Teens, and their single was released in 2000 in the US. "Dancing Queen" also appeared in the 2014 film, "Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb". The song also appeared in the 2018 film, "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again".
Cmon!
You’ve heard of ABBA
Floofy hair ruled! So much positivity and fun. I miss it in popular music
There new songs are on the Voyage album ..
Agnetha is one of the sexiest female singers of all time!!!!❤️😍
You hear the base line from the legendary Rutger Gunnarsson.
They are songs :( Money, money, money, waterloo, summer night city, gimme gimme a man after midnight, sos, the king has lost his crown volus vouze.)
Please react to Abba live in Wembley
🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪 Sweden in the house!✌️
"during the disco era"? I hope you don't mean they were/are a disco band. They have made music in maybe 10-20 different genres.
Björn and Benny did an interview a month ago on the official ABBA youtube channel. Just search for "The Q&A with Björn And Benny"
pretty hard to avoid hearing this song, so no surprise you had heard it previously.
Annifrid was'nt out of beat, they did her hairtossing in the end in slowmotion. She was a great dancer 👍
Agreed. She had a few solo dance routines in their concerts, most notably during the 1979 tour, in the disco instrumental section in Gimme Gimme Gimme
Sweden is the third country in producing music after only USA and UK
They have their own chiefs and soooooo many other things. Dig deep into them it will surprise you
Great song great reaction.
*Listens to arguably one of the most iconic songs of all time "Where have I heard this before?" 🤣
They had a movie called ABBA movie.
This song is from their ABBA the movie back in the 70d.
Sticking with ABBA disco vibe, they had a lot of hits that weren't disco as well, I will request "Voulez vous"
You will probably find you have heard a lot of their music before somewhere, they are a cultural pop phenomenon.
“Where have I heard this?” Probably everywhere lol.
Another great group Supertramp!!! Song called STRANGER!!
No, the pianist is one of the singers husband. He is part of the group.
Where have you heard this like everywhere 😂😂😂
ABBA never allowed their music to be used in commercials.
If you never heard of ABBA,then you must been in a coma
Additional songs from ABBA are, Waterloo, Momma Mia, Take a chance on me, SOS, Fernando (personal favorite), Angel eyes, Winner takes it all......and so many more. I was dancing to them the whole time in Jr high thru high-school and probably off tune, but hey they made us all dancing queens, 💃
... two married couples that made music history!!!!! Over the years, other people have tried to duplicate them, but it just can't be done!!!!
It was used in the movie Mama Mia, along with many other Abba hits! Also, when you think Abba, think 70's disco! You could have heard it anywhere, there are probably about a good 6 of their songs that are played a lot, an Dancing Queen is one of them.
