Fun trivia fact: the girl who played the Sami girl, Margu, is actually Sami, and didn't speak English, so apparently a lot of Jesper and Margu's conversations are based on ones between the actress and the director, where they'd chat happily despite neither really understanding what the other was saying :D
Aww that's sweet
Thinking about it, was that weird or awkward or both?
@@applepie1272 Given how it was worked into the film as a cute thing between the characters, probably neither :D
i saw someone translate what Margu was saying throughout the movie. her lines were:
"where can i get a toy?" "toy?" "i dont understand what youre saying but youre funny"
Stop it that’s too precious!
"I'm coming, love."
The part where I started crying like a little b*tch. 😭
*spoilers*
I love how one gets even more opportunities to cry on a re-watch. The context of the wind, Klaus's reaction to seeing the first kid get his toy, etc.
Every single time.
It's the "I get to see my friend again" for me 😭
@@WaryJester ya but for a year he must have tough hey was somewhere dead and the couldn't even give him a grave
@@t84t748748t6
Not necessarily. They could give him a symbolic grave even if they can't find his body. If it ever turned up, they already have a place to bury him.
I don't think he'd have a statue or anything, that didn't seem like something he'd want. Just a quiet arrangement, in a personal area, where friends and family can come to visit.
Klaus's ending is the best example of "You can have a perfect ending without having a perfect life."
Fax
I'd say that Jesper's life now is pretty perfect. He's not rich like he use to be, but he has exactly what he needed.
I start crying at "I'm coming, my love" and I'm sobbing by the time he says "but once a year, I get to see my friend"
This is definitely a movie I watch during the holiday season. It’s rare to find a good Christmas movie, especially nowadays.
100%
I feel this is one of those rare films that doesn't teach kids that "Christmas is all about presents". I recommend it for anyone.
I like this film so much that i remove the Christmas part from my head during the year and watch it at any time i want
I cried multiple times during this movie, the first toy delivered, Teacher finally becoming a teacher, Klauses backstory, kids becoming more good and happy and united, margu getting her sled, Klaus getting old, Klaus going into the magical wind, the end😭
I know that one thing in the movie that always gets me is the kid who cleaned his father’s clarinet and watching the dad play it looking so happy
The animation in this is absolutely gorgeous
The animation is just gorgeous and the lighting in the animation is next level.
It's the opposite of Spider-Verse, creation wise. It is 2D art rendered to look 3D, whereas Spider-Verse was 3D models rendered to look 2D
@@alexkramerblogs yes
Margu's "Yoohoo!" gets me every time. I'm with you Rana.
Everytime. Everytime.
That little Saami girl...is the cutest thing I've ever seen in animation since Anne-Marie from All Dogs Go To Heaven!
i cry eveytime when she get her sled
@@Bellial87 I didn't cry as much from anything the past year. And the past year was a bitch.
42:50 he basically became the spirit of saint nicholas if heard of that tale. they did a great job on showing the possibility of the legend of santa claus. it is pretty much started off with a random person or people giving gifts to kids in secrets, time pass and kids tell different stories on how it became to be and sticks with them. in time they get older and if have kids of their own they tell those imaginary stories and the kids follow that too. jump to over hundreds of years and you got the legend of santa claus told in europe and in time everywhere.
A fantastic movie. Was such a shame Toy Story 4, a movie that wasn't needed cause the third was a perfect end, got the Oscar that year instead of Klaus.
Yeah, TS4 didn't need to be made and ruined the franchise. I would have given the Oscar to Klaus, no doubt.
@@Mic-Mak I've given up on Oscars for animation. I mean Your Name and A Silent Voice never got even nominated, Boss Baby won that year. I see great animated movies be shunned each year in favour of Disney and Dreamworks etc. If by chance an indie made or foreign animated movies does get nominated the chances of it winning are abysmal.
Yeah the emmys are such a joke. Klaus took a huge risk trying to get 2d animation back on the road, which is dying since the 2000s. By using new techniques and a software they developed themselves, they proved that 2d animation could still hold in the western entertainment industry.
@@katara2021 boss baby didn’t win that year zootopia did
@@stephenasmithfanfan5971 Ah sorry. It was nominated. I forgot. My overall point still stands though.
Fun facts; Klaus is a 2019 English-language Spanish (Spain) animated Christmas film written and directed by Sergio Pablos in his directorial debut, produced by his company.
Still my all time favorite Christmas movie.
Just a reminder that good old Saint Nick *was* a real person. So this movie is probably the most accurate depiction of Santa out of all Christmas movies.
Rana shouting "Santa's Giant Sack" and Marketa's reaction got me laughing so hard. I've never heard of that phrase before.
I couldn’t help it! Lol
I was confused why they reacted like that!
Santa’s bag of toys is the only bag in media I’ve consistently heard being referred to as a sack.
@@armandoguzmannieves5472some people call it a bag
I like to think that Klaus walked into heaven without dying, like Enoch and Elijah; a rare gift from God showing exceedingly great honor.
I thought the same. Klaus actually reminded me a little bit of Moses
This is my favorite Christmas movie of all time. Makes me cry all the time, especially that little Sami girl scene. This movie is very heartfelt and brings me back to such joyous feelings. It reminds you that giving, love, and care for your fellow man can mean so much. Plus the payoff of stabbing carrot girl is so worth it.
Klaus is a marvel of animation and a breath of fresh air with its style and energy. A new favourite Christmas film for our family.
While not in any way christmas like, I'd love to see you all watch any or all of the Cartoon Saloon animated movies. As an Irishman it brings me such glee at having every movie nominated, only to lose out to a Disney, Pixar or Dreamworks movie, especially from such an independent studio.
This movie should be a Classic in my opinion
To me Klaus is definitely a Classic watched it every Christmas ever since it came out. Probably my favourite origin film to Christmas.
It already IS a classic in my opinion. I watch it every Christmas now.
You were wise to watch this. I saw the movie in passing on Netflix and I thought "Eh, it looks like it could be fun.." Now it's one of my favourite Christmas movies.
I love the message of the story and the two factions starting to show friendship to the others.
RIP Norm Macdonald(the Ferryman).
So we can all agree that the heroes of Christmas are the under-appreciated government/public service workers that try to educate our children and keep us connected?
Amen to that.
PROBABLY the best christmas movie ever made. So incredibly crafted, such a heartfelt story with the right message, stellar voice work, revolutionary tool and technique developed JUST for this movie... And absolute classic. Every kid should see this.
Margu yelling for Jesper always makes me cry, what an amazing movie ❤️
30:48 it is literally Impossible not to smile at this scene. I watched this movie a few hours ago actually and I Loved it! This movie is filled with so much Joy and kindness in the best possible way (also the animation is fantastic but that’s obvious). I had to see other people react to scenes like this.
Yes! I love this movie so much! It's honestly one of the best Christmas movies I've seen in years. It has beautiful animation, great characters, and a simple but great story! It honestly should've won more awards and attention when it came out. Thank you for reacting to this, Normies!
I literally just got the Krum clan name and the thing with the two family elders being an analogy of the Krampus.
I know I’m a year late, but I kinda see the two family elder as Burgermeister Meisterburger but if he were two different people
I was hoping you would see this movie! It really is a gem.
I LOVE this movie! So glad it was recommended and y'all are watching it! 🤗
Also, this movie is 2D, hand-drawn animation, but has 3D, digital coloring. It is artistically beautiful, which complements the story so well.
I love this movie, I try to recommend it to whoever I possibly can
The Sámi people are an indigenous Finno-Ugric-speaking people inhabiting the region of Sápmi (formerly known as Lapland), which today encompasses large northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, and of the Murmansk Oblast, Russia, most of the Kola Peninsula in particular. Their traditional languages are the Sámi languages, which are classified as a branch of the Uralic language family. Traditionally, the Sámi have pursued a variety of livelihoods, including coastal fishing, fur trapping, and sheep herding. Their best-known means of livelihood is semi-nomadic reindeer herding.
Omg I SOBBED at the end of this! It was so emotional and I just loved how when he died he lived on and became Father Christmas! Just stunning and I think Lydia is with him as Mrs Christmas as he says “I’m coming, love”. Beautiful film.
I remember watching this and really just expecting a simple, nothing special movie. Damn....it was such a pleasant surprise. Such a good, heart-warming story with tears and laughter that just makes me feel all warm inside.
Great voice acting as well. Simmons as "Santa"....hell yeah! And Cusack is great at playing a villain.
This actually made my top ten list for last year! It’s so good and the animation is beautiful.
I think I've watched this film at least five times (every year at christmas since it came out and maybe once or twice other times). I still can't go through the whole film without crying at one part or another. It's well written, well cast, and the art style of the animation is so good. Was really hoping it would pull off an Oscar, but of course it was against Toy Story 4 and hard to beat something Disney/Pixar puts out, but on a creativity level I think Klaus knocked it out.
37:50 " When sudden realisation strikes"😂 , Santa's big sack
My bad lol
Watching Klaus has become a Holiday tradition at my house. Truly a gem of a movie.
This was a dope reaction and surprisingly good Christmas movie! The voice acting and animation style were fantastic and the unique twist on Christmas was fun.
For anyone else who voted for Die Hard, in case you’re wondering, they explain in the beginning that Die Hard clearly won the poll, but they’ve all seen it and none of them have seen Klaus (which their internal team recommended), hence this reaction instead. I can appreciate that reasoning, though one then considers that they’ve all seen Home Alone and HA2 and still reacted? Eh. Seems a bit inconsistent, but who cares! This gives us reason to finally watch and enjoy this flick. It’s been on the radar for a while but I never got around to it.
I was so surprised when I saw this movie for the first time it’s so much better than I thought it would be!
This movie hit my feels so many times, especially when they gave Margu her gift and the very end. 100% my favorite Christmas film
This is one of the smartest, well-executed stories I've ever seen. Such a great film.
If you didn’t cry a little during this movie, you are a monster.
13:51 this is one of my fave scenes. Everything here is perfect and is face expression says a lot more after you know what happens
30:35 this is another one of my fave moments. It gives me chills every time
38:32 I laughed to hard and to much for this but it’s too good
I love watching reactions of emotional contents with Marketa 'cause she always cries at the same moments I do so I feel less embarassed. We're such cry babies 😋
This is one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time!! That one shot of when they are on the ice and you see the shadow of the whale underneath is still something that keeps making me gasp whenever I see it again again. I can't recommend this movie enough!
Probably my favorite Christmas movies right here! Beautiful animation and a heartfelt story!
i remember when this movie was first teased and i was a gasped when i saw the animation. mainly the humans but it's all hand drawn! it looks simply amazing with the lighting they had going as well and it blows my mind how they did it!
23:03 sweet 30:00 sled 33:25 stabbing snowman
34:33 chris crying 37:20 twist the knife 41:43 I'm coming love
I really like how they took inspiration from the Nordic countries and the Sami people for this movie. I'm born and raised in Sweden so it was nice to see. They even had Zara Larsson a Swedish artist sing the main theme.
Just rewatched it to prep for Christmas and had to come back to see you guys again! You’re right! Definitely a new classic 😁🎄
This movie lost to Toy Story 4 in the 2020 Oscars for best animated feature film. What I found interesting is that the title of the film only showed up at the end.
This can be North's origin strory in Legend of the Guardians.
It’s one of those rare movies you wish you hadn’t watched, just so you can watch it for the first time again…
Merry Christmas to the normies and all the fans! You guys are one of my favorite reaction channels. Always have a smile and and good time watching your content! Hope you all have a great holiday season!
jk simmons is on an unbelievable acting run atm 👏
RIP Norm McDonald. He had played Mogens.
This is my favorite modern Christmas movie!! I'm so glad you reacted to it! I love the spooky dark style mixed with classic Christmas 😭
i'm religious, so the whole santa thing has never really been my thing. i find some songs and movies cool, but when i first watched this movie last year, it really really touched me. i love it so much
Well, Santa Claus is based on Nicola di Bari, the legend is linked to Christianity by that priest, something curious that as more is being ignored and putting more magic, I am not complaining but it is curious.
@@mckannon363 huh… I never knew that. Interesting 🤔
You should look into St. Nicholas more, AKA "Sinterklaas" in the Netherlands. He's basically the real-life Santa and is the inspiration for the gift-giving part about him.
Yes! Finally one of my request granted thank you normies😍❤️
Merry Christmas! Glad to see more people coming across this immediate classic.
This movie needs a lot more attention! Thank you for watching this masterpiece
Thank you so much reacting to this movie. I agree, this is an instant classic.
Since this came out, we watch it every year ❤️❤️
Yes, love this movie! It instantly became one of my family's favorite Christmas movies and we watch it at least twice every December.
This became my second fav holiday movie after I saw it just once. Just behind the two versions of Miracle on 34th Street, yes those count as one.
Ahhhh one of my favorite Christmas movies!!! Glad y'all liked it!
RUclips just happed to recommend this today on christmas eve, I loved this film I'll never forget the joy I felt watching this movie, it's so good and with such a good messages that I don't even consider just a christmas movie, it's more. Anyway, mary christmas to yall 🤗🎄
How did this not get best animated movie of the year award
After I saw this for the first time it became an instant classic for me! I love it so much!!
When I first saw this movie and saw this scene (29:17 - 31:00), I immediately called it the *'Your Name'* scene, because the music is so similar to the song Sparkle.
Also, Klaus's animation studio SPA Studios needs to work on a future Makoto Shinkai film. Combining their individual strengths (implementing SPA's 3D lighting and texturing on Shinkai's character designs and lush backgrounds) would create the most beautiful-looking animated film ever made.
Can’t express how much I love this movie. Favorite new Christmas film I’ve seen in recent years.
This movie should have won the Oscar that year! Such a beautiful well written story!
I didn’t even remember the last Christmas animated movie that was in the same level as this. Definitely feeling a whole emotional rollercoaster ride
This has become a classic at our house. So good. Glad to watch this!
This movies has made its way into my top 3 Christmas movies AND a yearly watch. Love this movie!
That ending may be as near to perfect as I've seen out of a Christmas movie.
Also, it's one of the few movies where the moral of treating your enemies well never gets even *partially* broken by the leads - even when Jesper thinks that the toys have been demolished by Mrs. Krum, he keeps his cool and simply points out that things are improving, and there's no stopping it no matter how hard they might try.
Thank you for reacting to this wonderful film!
I watched this for the first time with my family yesterday. What good timing
Watched chris crying in the thumbnail and was like : whaa , what's this movie !??
I remember this movie making me cry twice. It should be a classic.
I will say this Netflix Klaus is the best Christmas movie that no new movie can top a one of kind
I watch this movie at any point during the year. Christmas is always there, whenever you need it, if only you know where to look.
YES I'm coming back to this cuz it makes me happy cry 🥲
Good timing, I was just watching this!
I kind of agree with the "all kids movies to be a little dark and/or sad" comment. Pathos isn't a bad thing for kids to learn early, it helps them to mature emotionally.
I am tardy to this party. But I am very happy you guys watched it and enjoyed it. I cry everytime k watch it, and even when I watch reactions. U guys crying made me cry more. This movie was beautiful, and deserved the honour of the Oscar nomination
This has been an annual watch or my family for Christmas, but also any other time in the year, too!
I can't believe this movie made this fifty year old man cry . Good job guys. Have a very merry Christmas
one of the most underrated christmas movies. the art style is amazing.
"How do they have Christmas, yet not know who Santa is'...
Jesus - 👁️👄👁️
Instant classic. I watch it every year now.
This is a new modern classic for sure.
Is Pat eternally tired? He's been falling asleep the last four reactions I've seen with him. Does he work nights or something?
He always ruins every vid hes in
Yea he's just dull. At least he laughed a lot in the reaction.
Happy Holidays Normies!!!!
This has become on e of my all time favorite Christmas movies.
More people need to see this movie. I'm glad you're watching it
Merry Christmas Normies 🎄🎄🎄🎄.
Every wholesome moment made me happy and sad at the same time.
37:49 had me cracking up so much lmao
You, guys are the best🤩🥰😘
I just love watching you guys reaction 😊😊. It is so joy watching you guys laugh and having fun, I feel like I'm there with you, wish that was true or hope to get a crew like yours. I am having fun at every moment, be it at Pat's outburst at old man falling 😂, love Rana's and Marketa's laughs and smiles, Chris getting emotional... And of course, Suraj bhai 👊
Btw, 37:50 this is hilarious as hell 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣, I keep rewinding to it 😂🤣🤣🤣
I am idiot. Yes . Lol
Bruh how have I never watched this movie before, just watching the film cut for the reaction made me tear up :(
This is one of my favorite holiday movies!
I haven't genuinely enjoyed a film in years, till Klaus. I was smiling like a wee lad through the whole thing.
