My First Ride on a New Yamaha YFZ450R!

- We had another late season ride at Appleton OHV Park! It was a perfect day and it was great to have Matthew and Brayden join us. After chasing each other through the trails Matthew was nice enough to let Chad and I try out his new YFZ450R. It's an awesome machine, the handling was top notch and the machine was very smooth. Big thanks again Matthew!

Quads are so much fun. I owned a 200 blaster, then a 350 banshee and then a 700 raptor. I switched to 2 wheels currently on a 2013 450 yz, it send me to the hospital last year, miss my raptor.
That place looks like an absolute blast, little.bit of everything for all levels of skill riding and atv type ect! Quads are so fun and being able to ride em all year round is a bonus. Your raptor and that yfz 450 are sweet!
I love that you're open to pretty much any brand. You form your own opinion based on your own experience. A lot of yamaha riders would hate on Honda just because its a Honda....& vise versa. But you dont care what it is..you just wanna see what each machine is like & you respect all the brand's. That's how I am & that's how i think everyone should be.

801 MOTO thanks man, I just love sport quads in general. A lot of them are pretty similar with their own little quirks. It’s a bummer Yamaha is the only one building new sport quads. If Honda was still building a new 450 I would probably go that route just so I had brand diversity. I do plan on supporting Yamaha though since they support our sport still 👍

I just sold my 2008 kfx450r today and I’m buying a new raptor 700 tomorrow. I’m so excited, but I am going to miss my 450. The way the power hits on the 450’s is so fun and snappy
Last month, my brand new '19 450R was stolen from the storage unit i kept it in. I slayed for years to get it. Enjoy your videos. I’ve always ridden bikes but I’m making the switch to quads for regional reasons. We ride in mostly sand and I’m tired of keeping a bike in line all the time. Keep the videos coming! The seat is also a lot more comfortable on a quad than a dirt bike!

That’s amazing! The 450 is no joke, take it easy at first because the power it has will get to your head and you’re gonna want to let it rip. Quick story, back in 08 when I wanted to purchase my first ever quad, I went for the 450 because I wanted to enter the “off-roading gang” with the best of the best. It was definitely an experience I’ll tell you that. After a while I was out there barking wheelies and practically anything “bark-able”😂 it’s an amazing machine and you’ll get used to it in no time. Welcome to the family🤗🤙
Impressive machine for 25-30 hours till the factory recommended top end rebuild. I know people have gone far beyond this, but there are some that have actually blown their engines with less than 100 hours. Just one of my fears since that engine is very high strung. Still a beautiful machine!

I have had a 2020 yfz450r se for two months now I went fmf 4.1 and vortex tuner worth the money whole computer no piggy back only way to go it never stalls now. Definitely a race quad high maintenance. Happy with it still
Also the cutch is a cable but it’s a race style slipper clutch which has lighter pull
All good to hear! The clutch felt super nice but was a bit different then the raptor. I should’ve tried shifting it without the clutch a bit but it wasn’t mine so I didn’t want to get too carried away. I’m looking forward to having one someday!

When I had a raptor 700 I was his big fan but when yfz450r appeared in my garage I never got on it again. 450r has something that wants to discover it.
I'm excited to own both machines and to see which one I want to ride more. I really enjoy the Raptor but I love how nimble the 450's are

The Rossier exhaust looks great mounted to Matthew's YFZ450R. You guys need to make a road trip to Blue Holler or Wildcat Offroad in KY.

I have a blaster like that one but with a beefier push bar and special LED mount on the push bar.

oh ok it sounds really good in this video. ive been looking to buy an exhaust for my 16 but i have no clue how to work any of the ecu’s that you have to buy if you get an exhaust so its been holding me back
@@mattpalermo6354 just get a pc5 or vortex. They are both fairly simple to setup an well worth the money. They are also plug an play..
vortex is way too expensive for me and i dont understand the software and all of the maps in the software in the pc5 or msd blaster. thinking of going hmf pipe and hmf fuel controller just because it doesnt have anything to do with software it is all on the controller it self.
I'm looking at getting a 450 but idk. Front end wont stay down. I had a raptor 350 a few years ago. I loved it.

450's are pretty rad for everything they are, but they are shorter maintenance intervals and not built to the same durability/longevity of the 686 Raptor. It's gotta be pretty fun to have the perspective of both on the same day, back to back.
I think it'd be really cool if some 450 dirtbike dude would run around with you guys on quads.
Lifted_Above that’s why I got the Raptor first, I wanted a good reliable machine and now I can work towards getting the 450. Plus if I do longer trips I can bring both quads and essentially have a back up Incase there’s an issue. It would be fun to ride with some dirtbikers but I wouldn’t be able to keep up 😅

I've had a 450 and now have a 700. As for the stable ride of the 450 if you haven't tried to or haven't ridden a 700 that's been widened out try it. I widen my 700 by 4 inches in the rear and 3.5 in the front and it's a different machine. My buddy with a stock 700 rode mine and now hes getting his widened. Both fun rides but at my age the 700 is more comfortable lol.
I actually have 1 inch spacers on the front and rear of my raptor. The long term goal is longer travel arms and a wide rear axle but we all know how expensive that can get depending on what I do for suspension. I've heard a ton of people say it really transforms the quad so hopefully I can make it happen this year. Thanks for your recommendation and have fun riding!🤘
how do you swing the quad on sharp turns i hear you need the clutch... is that true? can you tell me how
I tend to pop the clutch when i'm pulling a quick U turn on a tight trail. I suppose I've popped it on berms now and then but for the most part during sharper turns it's mainly all throttle and being in the right gear. Gotta get those tires spinning!👍

Being completely honest I used to own a older carb modem yfz mild build pipe ect.and my buddy got a 2019 yfz 450r stock and I was not liking it. Had bad bog it runs okay but I just didnt xare for it. And before I actually rode one I did want one.but after riding a stock one I dont anymore. It ripped. But I expected morw

Hey Pete I have a raptor as well it’s a 2018 and I’m thinking about trying the lowering kits for the front and rear to lower 1-2 inches so sliding and wheeling would be easier but I have beadlock wheels on my raptor and wheeling is a challenge since the front end has more weight due to the wheels I put on.
I would like mine to be a little lower for handling reasons as well. Some beadlocks would definitely be nice!
lmao...I'm 1:11 minutes in and I'm like I wish that I had a new quad because I have a Blaster that my boss gave to me for free then I hear a 2-stroke out of view, I start to get a smile on my face, then it pans into a Blaster and now I don't feel so bad....LOL.

definitely different types of power for sure! You don't realize how much torque the raptor has until you ride a 450, granted once I hit the higher R's of the 450 it pulled very strong

Trailvlogger thanks for watching my videos 😊 I wish I could make them faster. They normally take 20-30 hours of total time. When I first trimmed this video I was over 30 minutes! It would’ve been fun to ride the blaster but I already felt lucky enough to ride his new YFZ. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to try a blaster next season!

They're on eBay. They're made from stainless steel. Just type in "Raptor 700 Warning Labels" and they should show up. Same thing if you want for a YFZ

Hey Dason, thanks for watching my videos! I got the Pro Armor Bully bumper from ATVGalaxy on ebay but that was in the fall of 2018. I'm not sure if you can still get them.. The grab bar is just standard Alba grab bar that should be available through a variety of distributors depending on availability 👍
