It always cracks me up when people who have to have pain tell people who have severe pain just sneezing how to do exercises with resistance. I can’t even get into most of those positions. I hurt so bad. However, you did explain the paint exactly how I have it. I have been doing exercises that I have seen from Bob and Fred and other back surgeons and physical therapist and doctors and nothing is helping.

hoping for a reply from you.
went to gym in feb start this year, lifted heavy weights all of sudden, came back home and felt pain in low back.
the moment i felt, i stopped doing any heavy thing, no gym, no lifting, no nothing, just simple rest...
throughout the feb, my pain was decreasing very slowly, after 1 month (start of march) my pain was less but it was not completely gone. so decided to check the doctor.
got diagnosed with spondylolysis l5, dr said nothing serious its common in athletes and i would recover with time and rest..
he gave me vit D supplements because I'm a pure veg. so after 10 days of meeting Dr, i felt that my strength in back was there. though it wasn't like i feel completely healed but it's was a lot a lot better, i had very little pain in doing normal activities.
now it's been 2 months since i consulted the Dr and almost 3 months from when i first felt pain, i have almost no pain. once or twice in a week, i do a 10mins run and yuppp no pain...
but still i feel a little discomfort (not pain) or you can say some little muscle pain, don't know what it is?
do know what it is, because i feel like I'm in last stage of healing, is it muscle fatigue, because i don't have any sharp pain that comes from bone...
    what do you think?
one thing i did which was good is, i stopped putting pressure on my back the day i felt pain...
what's your take? am I on the correct path?
and forgot to tell, im 20...
last 3 months of rest were certainly very depressing... because i was a very active person
    is it my psychological myth?
because in last 3 months, ive been thinking about my back 24-7..
so it might be im feeling discomfort ,not pain, because of over exagerating ...
and also now when i do a tight side strech, i literally feel that same back strength when i do left stretch (which is the side i had that stress fracture) as when i do right side stretch...
3 months ago i used to feel a sharp bone pain when i used to perform left side stretch..
so in my opinion, this could be indicator that something has improved for past 3 months rest course, or may bone is healed completely and the muscle is now regrowing...
can say but in the past 3 months, last few days were the happiest because i was feeling that same old strength except that obnoxious muscle or whatever discomfort kind of dull pain... i feel that discomfort on a broad area likeon my left butt, and side... not a pointed sharp pain which i used to feel at the beginning of injury...
    what's ur take

Bob, I so appreciate your comprehensive information and delivery _ esp the groovy tunes playing as you deliver the dread news, lol. I shared your channel with the ortho doc who found "spondy" to be the culprit for debilitating sciatica, gait-pelvic imbalances I experienced. As you say in one of your videos, chronic physical habits will affect us gradually, then BAM we're down - and surprised....was a long process of undoing. TY for the pain relief, re-gained muscle tone/strength, new body awareness. Balance and endurance in progress! $thanks forthcoming.

Is water aerobics good exercise and maintaining strength if you have pain from spongy?

    • @bobthephysio
      @bobthephysio  Месяц назад

Water aerobic is not something that I offer my patients !! Your body weight is lighter in the water, in that perspective your not really getting stronger by moving in the water. But, if you enjoy doing it,? It has enough reason to do so 😃💪

Hi Bob I’m from Tyrone. I Would like to know peoples thoughts your on fusion surgery tlif.
I am 34 and had back problems from 18 and only was diagnosed with 2 years ago that I have DDD at l4 l5 S1 after years of being ignored from docs about my back pains etc. I have gotten worse the past year and a recent ct san has shown I have a bilateral pars defect at L5 ( the bone is completely broken away). Consultant said I need a spinal fusion TLIF.
I had injections last year that only lasted 6 weeks. Would your exercises help or because of the broken pars is surgery the only way?
Apologies just lost atm in what way to go.
    Thanks
