Well, I ordered the Zhiyun Crane Plus and will return it. Why? I realized too late (my fault) that for full function I would require a Panasonic or Sony camera. I need the control panel function of the Gimbal and this is simply not working with Fuji or Nikon (or Canon). Be aware of this before you buy. If you don't need the control panel then this is not an issue.
Will welch same here! I’ve been digging the v2 but thinking about upgrading to the plus or maybe the Crane 2. We’ll see! Swing by, I try to post vids weekly!
The Crane Plus is basically a stronger version of the Crane v2. I think Zhiyun wanted to market those line of gimbals differently than the original Crane series.
Sidney Diongzon For sure! The tripod that comes with the V2 is a bit cheaper though. Feels like it could hold less weight. Which makes complete sense seeing how the V2 has a lighter max payload.
I'm here, a year later, and unlike *some* comments I read, I support your passion for cake. You do you. It's fun, it's exciting, and it's different. Keep up the great work!
SERIOUSLY the best review I've seen! thank you for being so helpful!!! because of you I can finally make a decision!!! Can't wait to watch other vids!!
Thanks for the comparison! we are trying to step up our broll game for the channel and this really helped us narrow down what we need! Love your style and humor as well!
Really fun and info-rich video. I've had the v2 for a few years and like it more than ever. I'm using a GH5 with Olympus 12-40mm Pro or 7-14mm Pro. That latter lens is maxing it out for me. Keep in mind because a gimbal has a listed payload of lbs/kgs, that doesn't mean you want to put that much weight onto it. It will NOT perform well when maxed out! And I haven't found a quick release plate and clamp thin enough to use while getting proper balance, so I mount the camera and lens directly to the gimbal. It's not convenient, but it works! I wish it did Time lapses, though. Best to you!
What would be amazing is if you could mount all three to a common bar and the gimbals equipped with the same camera gear. Then, action! Put all three recordings side by side to see the same scene from all three units. That would be really awesome to see. Would take a bit to pull it off, but would be great to see how various gimbals perform under the same conditions at the exact same time.
Dude first video of yours ive ever seen. Instant sub. Glad im here at 78k bro, youll be at a million in NO time. Incredible video, great song selection for b roll, great fonts. Checked all the boxes for cinematic tutorials man. That intro, short, sweet, and straight to the point. Seriously, keep up the great work man. Getting the crane plus after seeing this!
The v2 was cheaper haha. Was initially looking at the Crane M but as most people say its very limited due to max payload allowance. The v2 here was only like 60$ more. Oh and also grabbed one of the remotes. I'll be using the crane remotely 50% of the time since I'm a one-man production and will use the remote as my cameraman. Thanks again!
I compared all and after comparing everything from pros to cons to my newbie behind I decided to go with Glidecam HD4000. The reason I decided to skip the idea to have Gimble is I feel it's just too perfect. Way too robotic for my style. I like the natural feel of Glidecam, it's like an extension of your hands and easy to pan with the natural look. I know my Tech mind will end up grabbing a Gimble in future but for now I am waiting for my Glidecam to be shipped. B&H Hurry up.
Christopher Burress Spot on mate, heading to test a v2 for my canon 6d Mark 2.Wanna up my B-roll videos from Russia.Hope I will be convinced to get one. Thanks a lot
Nice review. I have tried both the Crane 2 and the Crane plus with my canon 80D and with the 24-70 2.8 L. and the 35mm 1.4L. The Crane 2 handles it like a champ and the plus struggled severely. Now these weights are well under what the crane plus states, but the motors didnt hack it and were buggy, sometimes losing complete motor power with awkward movements. Additionally, the tracking feature does work on the crane 2 via the Zhiyun Play app. The only advantage I give the plus is the Dutch pan and the price.
First off, I love your music. Second, I love your comical personality, 'You know what, Cereal is good' hahaha. You're so much fun. Third, this review rocks, thanks so much
Enjoyed your cereal truth telling. We are filming toddlers with the GH5 so I’m thinking the lightest weight gimbal that can handle that camera would be the best bet. Is that the V2 do you think?
Its 11pm, I’m still in my office waiting for a video to upload to ze cloud and this gave me a good chuckle. Sub earned! Thank you sir. As a 6d2 user, I’m thinking of going for the CranePlus over the Crane V2 just because I don’t like how close I’d be getting to that 1.8kg max. For me, the Crane2 is overkill - and I dont like the follow focus wheel because I’m left handed and its in the way. Plus, one more thing to go wrong / get damaged. Cheeeeeers
I am looking for the best gymbal for my canon and then suddenly I realize I want cake because of you🤣. You are the best! This is the first time I saw your channel because of this video.
currently deciding between the Crane 2 and the Crane plus... my setup is a GH5 and adapted canon lenses, primarily like the Sigma 18-35 1.8 with metabones... Which one would you personally choose?
Man, i'am from Russia, just order Crane 2 for my GH4+Sigma 18-35 and looking some videos about Zhiyun. Your video is really cool, i think you need much more subs, like 500k or 1M :) Good luck!
Great job. But I have a big fat DSLR that requires a gimbal which can handle up to 10 lbs. Keep me posted for your review of the Crane 3 LAB ! please ?
For a first time gimbal owner and a future user of the a6500 and the 77d as my shooters which gimbal would you say is best? That focus dial is pretty cool
Think I’ve decided on crane plus as I only use a6000 with 18-105 f4 lens which is around a 800g setup and I want the auto track on The gimbal , I like the idea of the dual handles too for better grip
Heading to test a v2 for my canon 6d Mark 2.Wanna up my B-roll videos from Russia.Hope I will be convinced to get one. Thanks a lot mate and happy new year from Russia-Moscow 👌
Another great video! I love your work, and I'm always excited when I see you've posted new content! Your shots of Claremont were awesome. If I ever spot you wandering around there, I'll buy you that cake! Haha! Keep it up!
Great video and brilliant product (any of the three), but where is the support for Nikon and Canon? With by far he biggest (close to 80-90%) DSLR market shares in both Japan, Europe and US, Nikon & Canon seems to be oddly completely overlooked by Zhiyun.
I have been shopping around for the right gimbal for my needs for some time and the crane plus is ticking the most boxes for me right now. The biggest question I have is... is it safe to mount the camera and lens and unscrew the bottom half of the handle so it can be kept in a camera backpack for quick shooting? If the Crane 2 could do that I would have bought it months ago. If the crane plus was able to power my a6500 I would be over the moon. That is the only limitation that has me hesitant to buy before the full info about the ronin-s is released. Thanks for your time and as always great video
I’m glad this was helpful! Although I’m not sure about keeping the gimbal in a backpack. Without pads, it might damage the motors. So I’d be VERY careful.
Sony a6500 + 18-105 and other sigma (in perspective). Shooting of Vlogs and car reviews (the overflights and panoramas are important). What's better? Crane Plus or Crane 2? Thanks
interested to acquire a Zhiyun gimble for my Sony Alpha 6500(453g) with Carl Zeiss(308g) lens and Rode micro video (42g). Total about 803g.Which one should I choose? Regards
Nice video! So the v2 lacks some of the advanced features like object tracking? All of their models are a bit confusing because they seem pretty similar. I'm thinking that tracking feature would be great for solo videography where I could at least have it track while on a tripod for some of the shots to avoid either full stationary clips or vlog style hand held selfie video. I wonder if any of these could do star tracking... that would be a great extra feature.
Interesting, thanks. Not sure why I thought the v2 had that feature. Doing another search only shows videos on it being used with the 2 and the Plus. Glad I didn't try to buy that when it dropped to $400.
hey Sidney, i just ordered the plus, i found your video because i cant stop obsessing about it until it arrives on sunday! Anyway im glad i came across your channel i totally get your humor and now consider myself a new fan! plus, a fellow youtuber in So Cal, how cool is that! Much Love from the Us Out Loud Family!
now i am really confused, before you answered, i saw another video where the question was asked and Zhiyun-Tech answered it can... was there an update after you did the review ?
No i swear ! I remember you said that in your video, they said that as long as you didn't go over 1.8kgs with phone it was fine, but as you seemed doubt and other ppl as well, i just canceled an order to go with the Plus version... Don't want to be the guy finding out it doesn-t work... Thanks ;) BEAST MODE !
LOL. You are hilarious man... I know this is from Feb but great video... I am behind... look forward to catching up. Have you ever thought about creating or hosting a regular get together for more experienced and new creators in the Dallas area?
Okay so as a filmmaker I need this for a camera and swear zoom Angles and zooming in and out and also like going around a person catching great detail with smooth filming which one ?
Does the crane 2 have all the same modes as the Plus version? Or if you could point me in the direction of a comparative chart I’d appreciate it. Great video btw
Honesty, I think all gimbals function the same haha. You can def wait, but I can’t imagine it being that much different than the Crane or any other gimbal
Want a help from you brother, I want to Buy Zhiyun Crane Plus in India but not in any online website, and from us and other countries if i buyed then our Indian Customs are so fucked up so can you please tell me where and how i will get it, as may be you are good with Zhiyun Members? Help me out
Thank you so much for this video! You really cannot believe how confused I was to begin with when it came to all the various models of the Crane ... Thankfully you solved all of that confusion, so yeah, thanks a bunch :)
Sidney Diongzon awesome, thank you for your help. I just bought the Crane v2 and used it with the 80d and it did a decent job but was still a little shakey. I will probably return it and order the crane 2. Thanks again!
Hello There! Great Vid! Do you think CRANE V2 can handle this setup: a7s Mark 1 (520gr) + Samyang 24 VDSRL (700gr) + Variable ND (86gr) = Total weight: 1,3Kg - Thanks in advance!
Hey Sidney, thnx for the great video. It was pretty useful. Please tell Zhiyun to send you a check with your commision for making me buy a Crane Plus gimbal as soon as my credit card stops smoking. Greetings from Cologne, Germany!! Btw, are you coming for Photokina this year? ;-)
Nice comparison, didn’t know there was a Plus version. Sidney, is getting a gimbal overkill for travel photography with the wife, where I only do short or 360 videos 20-30% and the rest are still photgraphs? I am unsure about the time it takes to take stills and switch back to video mode. Do I need to take off the gimbal to do normal photo shoots?
Thank you for the reply, Sidney! Love your videos and lighthearted reviews. I enjoy the pace, information density and the cinematography. I've subscribed.
Hi Sidney, really need to make up my mind between the crane 2 or plus , using the GH4 and 5 for more of weddings , does the crane 2 have the POV mode and object tracking any any sort?
Get the Crane 2! You'll find that the stronger motors will support your GH5 and whatever lens you attach with it. And yes, Crane 2 has POV mode and object tracking mode.
Subscribed because of your energy and the cake❤️😂, I want to get the crane plus but i do have a problem, i have canon 700D, and sigma 18-35, but the 700D sucks in auto focus, how can i get my shots in focus, of course it's impossible to do manual focus while holding the gimbal, so should i upgrade the body first?
Thanks for subscribing! For your Canon, I would go old school and set your aperture to f/8 and your focus to infinity so that everything looks fairly focused. Hope this helps!
I came across this video while shopping for a gimbal. Can I get away with using a setup that's close to the max weight? Or will that shorten the motor life on these?
They should come up with more complicated model names... just To confuse potential buyers
Just ordered the V2 yesterday before this video came out. Now I feel at ease that i made the right decision. Thanks!
That’s awesome! You’ll love the Crane v2! Thanks for watching!
Well, I ordered the Zhiyun Crane Plus and will return it. Why? I realized too late (my fault) that for full function I would require a Panasonic or Sony camera. I came here to learn about gimbals and found myself smiling and laughing the whole way through. Nice work, dude!
AWESOME! That was my intent! Thanks for watching!
I ordered the Crane V2 for work about 2 months ago and it did actually come with a mini tripod to put on the bottom! I was pleasantly surprised.
Will welch same here! I’ve been digging the v2 but thinking about upgrading to the plus or maybe the Crane 2. We’ll see! Swing by, I try to post vids weekly!
Really!!??? I missed out for sure!

Do you think the Zhiyun Crane v2 would do well with a Sony a6100 and Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens? Thank you!
I love the production quality in your vids! Great stuff
Thanks so much for watching!!
Thank you for not smothering your review with future bass, over produced story, and for keeping the humor to a minimum (it’s about the product).

Could't weigh more than a bowl of cereal. :p

Three year old video, still fresh and stylish! Great review!
Nice music for the montage. Thanks for the info. I'm about to grab a Crane V2 today because of your info. (Crane 2 too bulky!)
Woo-hoo! What about the Crane Plus? It’s the same size as the Crane v2 and carries a heavy payload
The v2 was cheaper haha. Was initially looking at the Crane M but as most people say its very limited due to max payload allowance. The v2 here was only like 60$ more.

So helpful! You manage to get straight to the point while still being funny and engaging! LEGEND!

Do you think the v2 would work well with a canon t7i with a rode go mic? I think the camera with lens is only about 1.7 lbs
Maybe! Give it a shot
And here i am, with my Feiyu A2000, and completely happy with it

I'd definitely go with the Crane 2 for sure. The stronger motors make for smoother shots, especially filming car footage.
but in crane 2 you can not do object tracking?
I haven't tried that out myself yet...

No it doesn’t
now i am really confused, before you answered, i saw another video where the question was asked and Zhiyun-Tech answered it can... was there an update after you did the review ?

Object Tracking has nothing to do with weight capacity. It's a software feature in the Crane Plus and Crane 2.

It has most of the features! Check out Momentum Productions for details about the cranes!

Crane v2 can't be 45 ° pov mode like a crane plus?
No
Can we use crane plus to balane a6300 with tamron 28-75 f2.8?
Maybe. I haven’t tried that combo specifically
Want a help from you brother,
I want to Buy Zhiyun Crane Plus in India but not in any online website, and from us and other countries if i buyed then our Indian Customs are so fucked up so can you please tell me where and how i will get it, as may be you are good with Zhiyun Members? Help me out
Not sure how I can help from this end bro. Amazon?
3:34 sold it... tracking well from left to right, as in War Stabilizer an these shots will def look like cinema camera movements.
Thank you so much for this video! You really cannot believe how confused I was to begin with when it came to all the various models of the Crane ... Thankfully you solved all of that confusion, so yeah, thanks a bunch :)
Like the editing. Keep out the good job!
Can i use crane plus for Sony Axp55 handycam?
Yep!
Which one do you recommend for Canon 80D and Canon 5D mark iii? Based on weight.
Crane 2 for sure!
Sidney Diongzon awesome, thank you for your help. I just bought the Crane v2 and used it with the 80d and it did a decent job but was still a little shakey. I will probably return it and order the crane 2. Thanks again!
What lense were you using with the V2?
im looking to invest in a gimbal.. currently using 7dmkii paired with a sigma 18-35, which gimbal should i get??
Crane 2 should be able to handle that setup!
Hello There! Great Vid! Do you think CRANE V2 can handle this setup: a7s Mark 1 (520gr) + Samyang 24 VDSRL (700gr) + Variable ND (86gr) = Total weight: 1,3Kg - Thanks in advance!
Yep. As long as your setup is lighter than 3.9lbs you should be okay!
I have a sony a6300. Which is the best choice: Crane 2 or Crane V2 or Crane Plus? Are any of these models specific for sony camera?
All will work well
Hey Sidney, thnx for the great video. It was pretty useful. Please tell Zhiyun to send you a check with your commision for making me buy a Crane Plus gimbal as soon as my credit card stops smoking. Greetings from Cologne, Germany!! Btw, are you coming for Photokina this year? ;-)
Hahaha! I would LOVE to go to Photokina one day!!! Hopefully soon!!
Awesome video Sidney, super helpful. just wondering what you think would be the cheapest one that could handle a Canon 5d mark iii?
Probably the Crane Plus as long as your use a light lens. Hope this helps!
Awesome, thankyou!
You don’t NEED to have a gimbal when traveling. Honestly, it can be pretty cumbersome to carry.
Sidney Diongzon thankss❤️❤️
5:53 police car going past while you're holding a camera, vlogging and driving. #thuglife
LOL. #BOSS
I wanna use Sony A7 3 with the 50mm lens. I like the tracking feature. Which Crane is well suited for me? Thanks.
Hey! I just got a Sony a7riii with a 24-105mm on your opinion, which one (of the gimbals) is the best for my camera
So awesome! I’d say the Crane 2!!
Great video. You helped my decide on v2. Appreciate it!!
I came across this video while shopping for a gimbal. Can I get away with using a setup that's close to the max weight? Or will that shorten the motor life on these?
You can, but you’ll be pushing the motors and batteries. It won’t shorten the battery life significantly, so you should be fine
Hello ... The tracking function only works for the crane 2? Thanks
Crane Plus too!
