@@drewobrien597 His action only slowed at the end. Healy picked it as a slower ball, but he was already set for the shot, and the ball was both slower than he expected and pitched perfectly. A batsman can often pick a delivery, whether it be a slower ball or other, but he has to be mentally in a position to play it. Even with a slow ball there is not enough time to think about how to hit the shot, it's simply got to be prepared. I saw this in the game, and the reason why this was such a good slow ball is that it was completely unexpected, and he picked the correct batsman (Healy) to bowl it to because of the way he was batting. Hence the smile from Healy as well. I rate Ambrose as possibly the best bowler of all time, and the execution of his slow ball here was near perfect.
@@SarthakBhatia jake record dekh, who dominated more. I have seen detailed record for both periods with had win percent of 47 in tests, there were lot of draws during that period, aus had win percentage of 71.ab jake soch who knows wat.
I won't say you are necessarily wrong but let me provide some perspective here. By turn of century when Aussies had become dominant, draws as a percentage in the game itself had gone down drastically. So they were bound to have a higher win percentage than West Indians. Second Aussies struggled in India and sub continent in general, WI were dominant everywhere. Aussies were more clinical and West Indians were more domineering. While Aussies had a solid seam attack plus 2 awesome spinners. WI had a scary pace attack. Aussie batsmen were clearly the best as a unit and they did have many stars. But even in batting WI starpower was more dazzling. All WI were a more impactful team then the best Aussie unit. As far as success goes, if you equalize with respect to lesser draws, I don't think it's a straightforward matter to pick either.
At that stage Australia were leading the test series 1-0. Lost it 1-2 with Ambrose, after wrapping up the ODI finals, taking 19 wickets in the last two tests. Soooooo good.

And Ambrose took 7 wickets for 1 run in the final test match in Perth, and Australia got belted inside of 3 days by an innings and then some to lose the test series 2-1. All because Deano fired him up by demanding that he remove the white wrist band on his bowling hand. Ambrose got player of the match, player of the series, and player of the entire Australian summer after his performance in that test match whitewash.

Deano was a great entertainer. I admired how he stuck to his instincts and didn't follow others. He had theories, and the courage to act on them. For better or worse. RIP.
Really enjoyed the way in which Fleming interrogated him. :) An amazingly talented & gutsy batsman, was Deano. I have seen his gruelling knock in the tied test of Chennai. Tons of respect from India.
I was very lucky to hear Dean retell this story at a an event held at my cricket club a few years ago. He was such a wonderful story teller and someone I admired a lot, even though he was a cricketer before my generation. A true legend of the game, he will be missed.
For about 8 years or so, Deano was the Aussie version of Viv. Walking out to the middle at 2nd drop in an ODI was the moment you became glued to the TV screen. Fabulous shots and sprinting hard between wickets, the intensity always went up a notch or two. (…Those were the days the openers scored at 3 per over…)
Deano without breaking a sweat, left a great legacy. He made a bowler remove his sweatband. what a classic game--with such incident generating so much laughter, that is still funny even today. R.I.P

Dean Jones RIP. Damien Martin after a very long time I saw you. You were a fantastic bowler even at crucial time you never bowled a no ball. Fantastic Damien.
The slower ball to Healey was the highlight. Nice moment enjoyed by both team players. This is healthy cricket. Ambrose is a gentleman and accepted Dean Jones request only to harrass him😁
Dean Jones is not only a legendary player but a funny character to give commentary. He was a jolly individual too. Looks like comedy has become tragedy.😭
I remember Curtly knocking out the stumps of Ajay Jadeja in the first over of 1996 WC and the daze (and probably fear) in his eyes when facing him. Curtly was a sight to behold when in flow .. those super long strides and wrists waving... Could anyone lip-read what exactly Curtly said to Junior Murray?

When they are not playing, those Aussies are the best. Take the game too f-ing seriously on the field, but hilarious off the field. Us Kiwi's love all the retired Aussie stars (except the younger Chappell's ;-).

Because the new ball matches the shirt colour of the players
