    Hands down the greatest bowler of all time! His mighty 6'3 stature, his short run up, effortless most beautiful bowling action and the explosive energy made him all the very special and outstanding! It was a treat to watch him and to wait for his over. I remember watching him bowl live in Karachi and I was seated on the side of the pitch so I could see how far the keeper actually stands from the pitch and Moin Khan went back at least 40 feet when Wasim Akram came in to bowl. 145 km/h may seem like not too fast but you can barely see the ball at that speed..He must have easily touched rather crossed 150 km/h when he was younger. Glad to have seen him playing live, to have met him a few times and really really proud of him and to have him play for my country! Wish him success in all his endeavors! I also deeply respect, adore and admire all the love and admiration he gets from all over the world! Makes me really happy! • @kalfac8671
      @kalfac8671 8 месяцев назад

      @@Wally-H Even in your focus on bottle caps, as though it were a particularly egregious form of ball-tampering and begat all other forms, you've got it wrong. The art of reverse swing was passed on by Sarfraz to Imran Khan, not Wasim and Waqar. It was Imran, who both passed it on to Waqar and Akram and demonstrated it in county cricket. Of course a ball would not "untamper" itself when the ball was tossed to a teammate of Imran's, so clearly even with the same ball, the likes of Wasim were far better than others. Besides, other forms of ball-tampering, both among Pakistani cricketers and cricketers elsewhere, were prevalent at the same time. The use of vaseline is a case in point. John Lever did it during a test series in India in the 1970s. Michael Atherton was fined in 1994 for using sand in his pocket to scuff the ball for his bowlers. More recently, Anderson and Broad were critisised for using the spikes of their shoes. For this reason, unlike you, McGrath recognised that Wasim was operating on a fairly level playing field as regards suspected or actual ball-tampering and saw no need to discount Wasim's brilliance. Note also the discussion of finger positions, bowling action and foot positioning, which you chose to disregard because it didn't suit your preferred narrative.

    • @kalfac8671
      @kalfac8671 8 месяцев назад

      @@Wally-H It seems to be you who needs to work on comprehension sufficient to understand your own posts. In at least two replies to other posters as well as this one you attributed Wasim's outstanding bowling figures to illegal ball-tampering, on one occasion saying "In England we call it cheating" as though England somehow applied a higher standard than Johnny Foreigner (or Asians, as you like to put it), which you are only able to do by conveniently overlooking the English examples of ball-tampering, among others that I've cited. If in your unconvincing attempt to row back you are now having to acknowledge that various forms of ball-tampering were widespread, then clearly it was not the key differentiator that you've been trying to make out and it was other skills that made Wasim stand out. Other posters (including your pet target, Asians) have made a much more persuasive case for consideration of other outstanding fast bowlers without denigrating Wasim or his fans or Asians. They're at the opposite end of the universe from your one-dimensional copy-and-paste trolling.

    • @kalfac8671
      @kalfac8671 8 месяцев назад

      @@Wally-H It's hilarious watching the pub bore dig himself out of a hole, only to end up digging deeper.
      1) You still don't understand your own posts. You say the post was about Wasim. Ummm, no shit, Sherlock. Just a shame that in saying that his success was due to most others not gouging the ball you invited precisely the comparison with others' ball-tampering practices which you're now desperately trying to avoid. And like the troll who fears that saying something once might not give him sufficient prominence you repeated it on various occasions in response to other posters.
      2) Your attempt to spin your way out of your "In England we call it cheating" comment is laughable. That comment makes no sense other than as a suggestion that what's considered cheating in England is ok elsewhere.
      3) You attempt to deflect by suggesting I worship the ground Wasim walks on. Just a shame you're undermined by an inability to point to a single instance in which I actually said or implied he's the greatest fast bowler ever or even of his era as McGrath, Slater and Taylor did. In fact I've clearly acknowledged other posters (including Asians, whom you laughably described as being incapable of describing their home-grown heroes as anything other than better than everyone else) as having put forward far more persuasive a case for consideration of other fast bowlers as the greatest, unlike your asinine "he was great because he cheated" type of response with which you greeted some of Wasim's fans.
      Wally Hammond? The man would be turning in his grave. Wally seems much more apt.
