John McGeoch, RIP...
We don´t have bands like that nowadays.Such a pity! Great vocals and creative guitars, with very good melodies! Awesome band!
My favorite Banshess lineup by miles...
oh yes!!
amazing band very important in music history
Ah, the 'classic' line up, and four early versions of songs from my favourite Banshees album, Juju. Makes me a very happy bunny. Thanks
Trick or treat ,metal postcard so many tracks to love from this band
This proves what a great band they were, everything just perfectly in place.
Haunting as ever, especially Voodoo Dolly .... Souxie has a tremendous voice
I'm so much more impressed by Siouxsie's vocals after hearing these recordings. What performers! 🖤
She started as an unserious toneless punk screamer and became an insanely awesome singer around Tinderbox in particular - Sweetest Chill etc.
@@modifiedcontent I absolutely concur. Yet, even on The Scream, on songs like "Jigsaw Feeling", "Overground", "Mirage", and "Switch" particularly, that future melodically inventive, awesome, majestic voice was already displaying itself.
Great tone great creativity its a real shame her voice has suffered the way it has in recent years. Im pretty sure its fags and booze do it ( sorry if my speculation sounds judgemental) i'm speaking as a vocalist, my voice is getting smashed these days cos of all the smoking and binges.
Followed them all over the place in 1981 those were the days, back stage at Leicester was a treat lol
The best lineup and probably one of the most important bands ever, thanks for upload....cheers!!!
Fierce & powerful vocals from the one & only Siouxsie Sioux -
into the light.... beautyfull
miss when i was twelve years old.. was so cool to be a goth.. go to school all dressed in black.. listen to the banshees alone.. i was at the regal zone..
Banshees got me through some painful times in high school.
I remember people bulling me for being all dressed in black...even my parents were slightly shocked hahaha those were the days.
@@NapFloridian It appears that Johnny Cash - the original 'Man in Black' has a lot to answer for...
John Peel. Lovely guy, just a normal bloke really. Met him 1987ish Reading
most of the early banshee's stuff was/still is amazing, best album, imo,is 'a kiss in the dreamhouse'
most excellent
never cared much for Halloween as a song but I loved the rest of it.
great stuff!
Oscuros y brillantes. Soberbia banda
I have a tape recording of the actual John Peel radio show broadcast of some of the songs in this session with other artists in between. If anyone is interested I can upload my copy to RUclips. Let me know.
All Peely stuff is hugely appreciated. Please do.
would love to hear that!
Yes please
Cool beans, man! Upload it,would you please?
Yes, please!
The keyboard on Into The Light on the studio version is great, but cool to hear without it to highlight the brilliant John McGeoch guitar work.
It's more powerful without the keyboard. McGeoch was a genius.
McGeoch was my banshees guitarist. I got hooked on them with Kaleidoscope and JuJu, their two best albums. Unfortunately I never got to see him play live with them, did manage to see Robert Smith and John Carruthers tho.
@@greenpudding4103 Saw them a few times with McGeogh and Smith, way back etc etc, way too long ago...once I think I spent the whole show watching McGeogh, I'd never seen anything like it...Smith was good, inventive in a traditional way, but McGeogh was truly inspired...
Story I heard about Johnny Marr, was interviewed by MOJO and asked for a list of guitarists that inspired him, he mention John McGeogh. The guy asked him if he was sure he wanted to include him...what an ass...hope Mr Marr told him to go _*ck himself. One of my biggest regrets not seeing him play live.
pretty sure it's guitar with Gizmotron (a device with mechanical wheels that 'bowed' your guitar) rather than keyboard
To be able 2 hear her again makes me know that the web is not of the devil, and that there is people's accounting for sexy AND intelligent taste. Thanx 4 posting
people have got great taste. As the great JP used to say :THIS is Susan and her Banshees.
woah this is heavy
Love.
time to rediscover The Banshees
difficult to replicate the JuJu album
una maravilla de grabación
toujours la au bout de 30 ans
Halloween is like a hurricane
Amazing 2024
but not them is awesome
Indeed it is - & the studio version would properly be released as a track by The Creatures on their 1st 2X 7" "Wild Things" single(s)
Siouxsie Sioux 's voice is lower and more powerful than before
May be the nodules on the vocal chords affecting her singing. I can't recall when she had to have them removed by later than this, I think.
This version of Into The Light is superior to the studio version, which is mixed much too tinny IMO.
YES! I would actually prefer to put this version in the LP version's place.
I like the studio version more except for the vocals. One of my favorite songs of Siouxsie.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Nice guitar.
Es gibt eine dunkle Stunde.
Is that a guitar on voodoo dolly? That's just out of this world. How do they do this?
I'm trying to find captain scarlet he was a roadie for her and played in Battalion of Saints band in the 80s
Many years ago I had a casette I'd got in Camden Market with Siouxsie's Captain Scarlet on - only of historical interest, musically it was pretty bad. Fortunately, there's a better version here: ruclips.net/video/ZsfH_FcNNNw/видео.html

Brilliant, just wish it was live video with this recording
Could you IMAGINE?!
salut bisous
What was up with Siouxsie that day the pic was snapped, lol.
@gwugluud: Not being an American, can you explain to us Brits what 'was up' means? And also 'whats with'. Two Americanisms that seem to be very popular right now. Ta
The guitars and bass are a bit too muted in this mix, but there's no denying the quality of the song and the band.
Try to listen with really good headphones if you talking about recording in the studio because come on guys buy something good if you're looking for a good sound
Milady Susan a.k.a. Suzie alias Siouxsie Sioux... 🌹💜💋
Goth being invented.
When this band came out..my cousin was like ..hey man,how do you pronounce their name...
Me..stfu and go back to Buck Owens.
I'm already realizing...mate! How everyone stole The Fall and Mark E. Smith!!!
Personally, I don't see how you can compare Mark E Smith and John McGeogh...
The Fall have forever been underrated and under recognized
@@noeljohnson868 I didn't compare them both mate! Mark was an excellent, prolific, musician and creator.
Jhon was an excellent guitarist and a better male nurse, a very good person
@@blue-eyedloner Those unfair paradoxes of life... a creator in which everyone watered and watered until today mate
