I'm a huge Bowie fan but did not enjoy his polished pop hits of the early 80s - the direction that he went. To fill that vacuum, I became interested in the Psychedelic Furs (due to the sax) and Richard Butler's gravelly voice. The 2nd artist was Gary Numan for his futuristic and emotionally distant sound.

No sign of Sloppy Jockstraps Peel Session from 1980.Shame...it was chaotic and awesome.

Saw the Furs at Goldsmiths, London, in 1979. Unfortunately the accoustics was terrible (it didn't help that I was standing near a speaker), and it felt like a wall of undifferentiated sound. This is so much better.

I miss John Peel, to think he once worked at KATT Oklahoma City! The P Furs are brilliant, their early days at the Golden Lion Fulham were great , I saw them at HOB Las Vegas a few years ago , great show!
