Saw them for the first time at Brighton Dome in 72 when I was 15 and saw Brian ENO in a cafe 2 hours before the concert. We got him to sign our 50p stall tickets. He told us to get down the front and really go for it!.. we did did and it was one of the most memorable evenings ever!

All this Roxy sounded like the future
The thing with this great group was their adapting totally retro ideas and infuse with a fresh coat of paint
That was the music they created and recreated 🧜‍♀️💃

    • @martinmcdonald4207

The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame are honoured to have Roxy Music rather than the usual meeting of band and said institution. Considering some of the acts it has honoured over the years it has managed to delute it`s own standards. It`s not as prestigious as it would like to think it really is. The bar has been dropped too many times over recent years.

Yes what a pleasant surprise, I adored the NIce, and didn't know that O'list was in early roxy. Great guitar work, this recording brings back the early excitement that surrounded Roxy.

I'm pretty sure this is pre Manzanera. Sounds like Davy O'List on guitar

Oh most definitely. He's all over the place like he was in the Nice (maybe even more frenetic). His playing sort of disregards what his fellow musicians are playing or the actual piece of music.

The earlier guitarist O'List has merit but lacks Manzanera's Hendrix-y spirit of adventure. O'List also never uses sustain which blends better w/ Eno's drawn-out swirls. Not to denigrate further efforts, but I lost interest on "Siren," band became too accessible for me.

It's the complete session which was broadcast at first transmission. Sea Breezes wasn't included, even though it was recorded. The session version of Sea Breezes is though on my other channel. If I ever have to reupload this I'll redo it and include it.
