thanks for putting this up.This early period of T,Rex is still my favorite, rather than the glam rock days.
I saw T Rex on the John Peel In Concert Programme recorded at the Paris Studios in Lower Rent Street London about this time they were mesmerizing and so casual - it was before Bolan god big headed with stardom. He used to sit on stage cross legged exchanging with the crowd then Peel would appear announce T Rex and Bolan just switched personality got up strapped on the guitar and blew us all away - just like that!
I prefer it when he got big headed. The best moment ever was when he got onstage and told all you sad old hippies who were booing him to FUGK OFF at the Weeley Festival in 1971. And you all shut up and sat down! Hahahaha!
Great loud version of Ride a White Swan!
Excellent to hear; thank you! Marc Bolan's 1st huge hit, Ride a White Swan, plus Jewel, Elemental Child, Suneye (love all these songs). 1st under the shortened name T.Rex. Just to clarify - this was with Mickey Finn, though, not Steve Took as Marc's partner. kalmiyh xx
yes, just before it all turned to crap and he went commercial
Ride A White Swan was commercial, it reached number 2 in the charts!
@@diesekaltewelt807 He always wanted to go glam and be a star. Even the inner core underground HATED all you crusty hippies. "Boggies" they called them!
Kelly Reade who said it was Steve Took? In October 1970 he was rehearsing for more Shagrat gigs after Phun City along with Larry Wallis and Dave Bidwell (who replaced Phil Lenoir). They had a booking at the Hawkind/Pink Fairies Xmas Spaced Party at the Roundhouse on 13th Dec 1970 which went ahead in the end as the very first Took solo acoustic gig.
@@jayrox40 He could have made it big months earlier if he'd put out Magical Moon as a purely electric number like how he did it at live shows.
The best version of Ride a White Swan.
Element child , es la mas Psicodélica de todas , eran geniales me quito el sombrero ante el gran Marc Bolan
Fue un desfrenado y perfecto final de un disco tranquilo. Bolan Desencadenado.
I follow this dude because he always posts the good stuff. Where we lack in old school record shop dudes, we gain in Youtubular posts! Thanks Vibracobra.
Marc Bolan - The Inventor and King of Glam Rock

the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
GLAM ROCK AWESOME
Emiliano, are you completely dull?
I didn’t know Marc Bolan did a Peel session. Thanks for making this available so I can hear it. Marcs voice stands out always. It was Unique! You know it’s TRex right away. RIP Bolan-we lost him way too soon!
John Peel loved and promoted Marc
He did half a dozen or so sessions for Peel- mostly for the Top Gear show. There’s a 3-cd set from 2007 with forty-odd track and poems, all done for the BBC- you may be able to find a copy on eBay...
The picture shows Steve Took, who was no longer in the band.
Wonderful.
excellent !!! thx again for all your posts :)
You're always welcome
the t rex album is the best of his albums even though electric warrior and the slider aregood as well.
Ride a white swan !
While wearing a tall hat and a tattered gown?
smashing, thanks for posting this jewel
Bloody superb Thanks
Marc Bolan was definitely the influence on many a musician that probably wouldn't mention him because he wore Pink pants and wasn't 6 foot tall
This is music!
Dayum do I love the bass-tone on that second track!!
Thanks
Brilliant
Marc the great!
Sublime set! Enjoy quality. Je kiffe! Cimer
T. REX are Marc Bolan - Mickey Finn - Steve Currie - Bill Legend
Mercy
Woah! That must be the legendary Woolworths plastic breast-plate!
Elemental Child nuff said
Recorded just over a month after Jimi Hendrix died. It’s bonkers.
This for me is way better than Glam Rock. Bowie did it but kept the music great while he did it.
Marc liked Jimi
Jewel could be a Ty Segall song
There's was no drums on ride a white swan
Was it from here that John Peel virtually disowned Bolan? Can't think why if it was since this session's storming...
It was more down to Bolan's attitude when he started to become successful than Peel.

Don't believe all you read.
JP loved Marc
John did that with a lot of bands he supported as unknowns - like Jethro Tull! When they got famous he just cut them off like his work was done and he moved on to other talent!
Peel made a dismissive comment when Bolan went full electric rock n roll, to the effect that didn’t think Marc was very good at it. Not sure if the two spoke much after that. Peel did say he burst into tears when Ride a White Swan got to top of charts. But that was before the big split.
i say he went to sweden. not dead.
We can dream.
JONATHAN SUTCLIFFE let us know how he’s doing. 😃
Same!
I think he's living with the Wombles.
Nice recordings but the bass player must be bored after a while…
Tambourine man, Micky Finn, was also stressed!
This is far better then the shit they ended doing. I like there real early stuff.
