- The complete session recorded by Motörhead on 18 September 1978 for the John Peel show on BBC Radio 1 and broadcast on the 25th of that month.
Tracklist:
1. Louie Louie (0:15)
2. Keep Us On The Road (3:38)
3. Tear Ya Down (9:05)
4. I'll Be Your Sister (12:08)
Saw them live in 1979 when I was 16...."watch out son" said an older bloke next to me "they can make yer ears bleed"...I was petrified but Motorhead were magnificent. My ears were ringing all that night and at school the next day ....
same, i wear ear plugs ever after
I saw them 4 times and i couldn't hear for 3 days after each show.
You luck bastard. 79?! That had to be overwhelming
Saw them in 1980. 4 days for my ears to stop crackling.
This is like finding the holy grail... This is just pure Rock'n'roll.
With a bluesy twist
Motörhead is Heavy Metal not Rock
Rock IS rockNroll, metal is the red headed step.child, punk, power pop & oi! Are the revivalist or then new wave ... 🎶
@@oswaldjacobs1882motorhead are motorhead.
@@oswaldjacobs1882 You were a funny one.🤘
40 years ago, the weekday ritual would be...……… get in to bed, headphones on, tune in to John Peel. At the time we assumed that we would never hear these sessions again.... EVER!
Guitar jammed to bands in 97/ 98 on Radio 1. Positive it was Radio 1. Peel was like an overseeing Uncle to bands.
Finally a version of louie louie i can relate to.
Iggy's version was up there with this version
Lots of RIPs for Lemmy, but let's give some for Peely, Fast Eddie and Phil Taylor too.... no one on this recording's alive...
Absolute bang on point. All legends. All deserving. All gone. Xo
Goddamn that’s depressing.
All gone, but all shall live forever. Period.
It's mina no yea
No ?
I believe I could listen to it every day. No tricks, no overdubs - only pure Rock'n'Roll.
I'll never get tired of hearing Peelie's voice
So nonchalant.
What a sweet man... a big part of my 70's 80's life....proud but sad to say I attended his funeral in Bury St Edmunds...a wonderful but sad day .... A huge thank you to all those who attended 💓
Ooops naturally I refering to Margrave of the marsh☺️
the bbc sound engineers, what a great job
World class
Fucking pros!
best in the world together with the ones at Rockpalast, WDR, Germany.
@@lucalone Absolutely right.
Even the noisiest, filthiest band can be remastered---
Thank you John Peel for all the years of fantastic sessions!
MOTORHEAD no 1. And bass playing with HAWKWIND. No1..... LEMMY was à GOD... in metal..
Best version of "keep us on the road" I've heard...!
Agree
Oh my god. Just wow. Yes. Hell yeah.
This is why I loved Motorhead from the start, as an original punk.
This version of keep us on the road is blistering!
Ya Man. Tis deadly!
RIP FastEddie 10/01/18 - Now Motörhead is truly dead. I miss them.
Lemmy. Phil. Eddie. Three wild men in their prime!
Motörhead - Peel Session 1978 1631pm 21.2.23 i really dont dig louie louie, at all... the song, that is. still; beats Syd Barrat singing about elves and pixies. that fucking headache's coming back again. the only remedy? - motorhead.
With modern radio you're lucky to hear a mainstream rock band, Peel was playing extreme metal and talking about Terrorizer magazine
Motörhead was amazing. Sadly, Lem has been gone for over a year, but his spirit lives on.
He and his music will live on in our hearts . Only the forgotten are really dead .
The other two gone to. I bet they have a great jam
@@engel2427 , that is so true.
@@anfrankogezamartincic1161, absolutely.
Rock in Peace Uncle Lemmy. You're the best thing that ever existed. You will never be forgotten. You are the King of all Kings, the ruler of Hard Rock. Long live Motorhead.
Relax , it’s showbiz bro, just some bart with warts mediocre singing 😂
John Peel "I think I'd quite like a record of that"
Fact is that these versions are better than the released records - especially Keep Us On The Road
+Al Willmott Absolutely spot on...This is a cracking session from Motörhead, they're really on fire and as you say, Keep Us On The Road, especially, is a killer track..I love Motörhead and play this JP session regularly, never tire of it, one of the best Peel Sessions ever IMHO.
Am i the only one who puts this song in their top 10 Motörhead songs of all time?!🤘🖤🌹
Agree! Keep Us On The Road here is such a fantastic version. Lemmy's tone in the solo is perfect.
@@ryanmcbride3782 Everyone's favorite album of theirs should be the 1st one!!
Keep us on the road sent shivers down my spine. One of my favourite Motörhead songs.
The whole session is awesome, but that version of "Tear it Down" & "I'll Be Your Sister" GOD DAMN!
Graveyard Sale im with you awesome sound
for me Keep Us On The Road is amazing
Best trio ever rip brothers
Remember listening to this broadcast. Class
Lemmy-Du bleibst unvergessen!!!Für mich der ehrlichste, wahre Rocker!Echte Rock´n Roller lieben Deine Musik und hören sie immer wieder.Und einen guten whisky auf Dich!Andreas
killer sound !
Wow thanks for uploading I don't think i have ever heard a better recording of Motorhead they sound fantastic i get the impression that Motorheads sound was always fully formed and didn't need production. R.I.P Lemmy. Heaven wont know what hit it.
Robert Caffrey: Heaven better be stocked to the rafters with booze!!
Yer a god
Liv fast Die old,!
God bless Lemmy
Yer man Lemmy will live on in the music. Also movies like Ramones.Ok.
I always loved the Peel sessions..(well mostly)...great recordings, and this Motörhead session is a real blinder...I remember listening to it on the very night it was first broadcast, I was 18 and having a ball..where did all that time go?!…...anyway, Motörhead at their finest and definitely the best version of 'Keep Us On The Road', it's an absolute stormer!
Thanks for posting Vibracobra, I've been here and listened to this set many, many times...on my third play tonight!
What Rock n Roll Should Sound like!
The best RIP Phil, Lemmy and Eddie hero's all, you were true and honest...Motörhead forever
"We began at the beginning..." PERIOD.
Louie Louie! Yeah People forget Lemmy Loved Garage 60s
He had mentioned MC5 and the Stooges as what he was aiming for.
David Koval: ...and classic Motown soul as well.
lord knows i certainly did! that hawkwind stuff will help you forget eh? lol
Big Elvis fan too and he really liked punk rock.
@@baronoflivonia.3512 He liked the more obscure rock not the more mainstream Rick acts. Hawkwinf were really an Indie act.
Brilliant quality - great upload. This was recorded about a year after I first ran into them - or should I say the MH juggernaut ran over me at a small club gig. Absolutely reviled and derided by so many at the time as supposedly the worst band in the world whereas it's been obvious for many years since that they were actually one of the very best.
RIP..Phil, Lemmy, & Eddie....Forever Motorhead!!
John Peel IS a fucking genius . 10000000 Peel sessions and there is not one where I do not like his recordings more than the originals. Here´s a blatant example!
I agree, they should have started a recording studio, the record companies got it wrong by over producing everything
indeed, the purest and the performances HE somehow pulled off millions of bands who´ve been with him. Peely was 1 of a kind - as iconic as Lemmy without the "glamour" :)
Absolutely. Peel got it right every time. I would not be surprised if over time his sessions eventually became better known than the original records themselves, in many cases. In 100 years they will still be listening to this stuff.
John Peel didn't exactly pull anything off, he wasn't an engineer or producer all he really did was decide what bands to record, Peel was simply an extremely good DJ with a very eclectic taste in music.
In fact I think the "Pulled off" was probably more down to the producer John Walters than Peel himself.
Also a big thank you to the Musicians' Union rules for imposing needle time restrictions...
mark wood
That detail about needle-time restrictions was something I had never heard before. Interesting that that was at least part of the motivation for the recordings done by Peel and his crew.
A thing of beauty ....getting goosebumps....raw uncompromising....rock n roll at its basic best
I saw Motorhead on their first major tour, we just knew there was a change in the air
Fucking brilliant I hadn't heard that and it felt like being in 1979 and 12years of age I mean the music that was around at that time I think I was so lucky to be that age then I wouldn't swap it for anything peace out brothers and sisters and long live rock and roll
cristal clear sound versions , which is really rare for the time !!!
Thanks for putting this on youtube, followed Motorhead from day 1 love this!!!
Don't forget, be no Motorhead without Hawkwind
RIP THE 3 GREATEST ROCK DJS OF ALL TIME, FLUFF, VANCE AND OF COURSE PEEL
Great versions. A brilliant tight band on fantastic form. Thanks for uploading
Just found these Peel sessions reminded me of being was 16, in '78 real times. Very fond memories well done for uploading them thank you.
Lemmy and crew rock 😎 and the clean Beeb session production is sooooo refreshing.
Lemmy Is Sooo Damn Good Here ... AS ALWAYS !! So Tight , Got Rhythm , a natural monsterbassmangler
Lemmy & Peely, 2 of the coolest people ever R.I.P.
Lemmy Fast Eddie and Philty...you were great...the real and only MOTORHEAD 💔🇮🇹
You're my new hero Vibracobra23 Ennui. You truly are. Thank you for posting all of these amazing sessions. Thank you so much.
Phil's Drums Lemmy's Bass Fast Eddies Guitar!!! Seriously good as is the last line up!
Never knew that Motorhead's Peel Sessions even existed! THANX FOR THE UPLOAD DUDE!
the BEST from Motorhead, thank you for this upload,
you are the best!
The Kingsmen originally sung Louie Louie...What is news to me is that i never knew Motorhead did their interpretation of it. Brilliant .
Wow peel and Lemmy, love you both! 2 legends.
great archive... great effort vibracobra... :) love and peace. rip lemmy x
first ever, radiosession they played.
They're so fkn tight.
You can still hear the Hawkwind influence in the second track!
FFM0594 More like the Lemmy influence in Hawkwind before this....don't you think ??!?..Especially on Silver Machine of course.
The Watcher on the debut LP is also
very much Hawkwind-ish....
@@garymcknight2940 I think the drumming is also reminiscent of Hawkwind's style.
RIP Lemmy
And Phil!
and wurzel
Is wursel also dead? When did that happened?
Keep Us On The Road great song!!
REAL music from the heart and soul!
Thanks for this, great stuff! All the best to you, Paul
Esto es increíble suenan muy bueno loco Cordoba Argentina
I always liked Lemmy's Bass Solo on Keep Us On The Road..
it's fantastic!!!
1978 war ich 15 und bin voll auf sowas abgefahren, aber was soll ich sagen, es gefällt mir noch 2018 um vieles besser als alles was sonst so in punkto mucke aktuell ist, long live rock´n´roll !!!!!
RUclips time machine, thanks for uploading
Thank you
JOHN PEEL ruled supreme , he fucking got everything about music since his day first on the BBC !!!
Fantabulous!
1.time i've heard MOTÖRHEAD at radioBbcOne in Hamburg.blow'n away by the OVerKill trx
the soundtrack our lives... rock n roll yeah
HARD ROCK AWESOME
well yes man! Motorhead FOR LIFE! and BTW. TSOOL also was a GREAT swedish band!! :-)
Obrigado from Brazil.
Shit hot. What more can I say
Best EVER was/is these three ..
Motorhead!
To all those saying this recording is a better reflection of Motorhead than the vinyl, I agree. The squares at the old BBC knew what they were doing, nothing added, nothing removed. Just technicians who knew how to get out of the way. Buzzcocks were another band who never sounded better than the Peel recordings.
Just plain badass
Without John peel punk would never have grown
I love Philtys Schwungswing behind those Drums..🙏🤘
R.I.P Boys.❤
Why so few listen's,let's spread the word.
best bassman ever!R.I.P: hanx!
Motorhead : high voltage and full speed Rock n' Roll
Lemmy : the quintessence of Rock n' Roll - 摇滚音乐的精髓。
much better than the album ,,one of my favourite motorhead songs
You have to assume the 22 dislikes are from deaf people
THIS Is Motörhead!!
Bless you
we all know he's just OUT TO LUNCH.
I'ma drinking for ya Lemmy, second bottle is going down! Rip apostle of RnR!!!
Second bottle? Of jack Daniels? Are you still alive?
RIP LEMMY, PHIL, WURZEL AND PEEL
Fast Eddie too
I told Lemmy that I saw Motörhead’s last show at The New York Palladium with fast Eddie and he told me You probably didn’t have that hair on your face.
Thanx❤😊
RIP LEMMY PUNK MISSES U AS U WERE 1 AT HEART. WE MISS U 👑👑
This is it!
cream of the cream mate, all of em dead..them three from the band and the broadcaster John Peel
Lucky enough to have seen Lemmy and Co. on the Orgasmatron tour, opening for Alice Cooper in the 80's. Freekin' weird that (all) of the original members are dead...WTF?!
I had no idea that Motorhead ever did a Peel Session!
It's news to me too but of course peel only played the very best and would not have entertained any cheesy heavy metal crap.
amazing bass solo at about 6:40
the best!!
lemmy in our minds and presence and rock in heaven
BRILLIANT, TELL ME ITS NOT?
Louie Louie.
Лемми очень крут такие люди ушли вечная память свободному Лемми
Great rock 'n roll .... this is what it's all about.
Jesus!!! One word for this is TIGHT!!!
Mixing Lemmy's Bass must have been an interesting challenge for the BBC but damned if they didn't pull it off.
RIP Lemmy, Eddie, Phil and John. Together in Valhalla for eternity. Now there's a gig I want to see.
Is it just me or is there an organ playing on Keep us on the road?
LOVELY! CONTINUE TO REST IN PEACE...
Saw Motorhead Live in the 70's x2
Appreciated, cheers. Motorhead 4 life.❤
Thank God for the BBC and the Licence fee!
But they don't do this anymore.
