  • ✿ How to make quilted microwave bowl cozy holders - a Tulip Square quilting & sewing tutorial ✿
    What is Paulette sewing today? Quilted bowl holders! They’re great for popping a bowl of chili in the microwave, holding a big dish of ice cream, or anything in between. These cozies are easy to make, and just require simple cutting and sewing. They make great handmade gifts, they’re popular items to make and sell, and they’re handy just to have in the kitchen.
    ‼️IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure all batting, fabric and thread is 100% cotton for safe use in microwaves! 🔥

      We're so glad you're enjoying the channel! Thank you for letting us know about the volume, we're not sure why some people have trouble with it, but it's nice to know that it's not everyone. Happy sewing!! 🌷💕

    I make these myself. I have found if you cut the cotton batting 1/2in smaller then the fabric it cuts the bulk down and makes it easier to sew the finished edge.

    I round my corners before sewing the diagonal lines. I also make a lot of these both to sell and to gift. So I made a template from a piece of cardboard for the darts. So much quicker. Also not all batting that says 100% cotton are safe for the microwave. Most have some scrim in them. Only use ones like Wrap n Zap that say they are safe for in the microwave.

      I also cut away the extra batting on the dart seams after cutting off the piece. Makes it less bulky. If you make the squares bigger you can use them for larger bowls in the microwave and then for setting on the table. Also great to hold rolls, fruits, candy etc.

      Always a good idea to make a template if you're making a bunch of something. Thanks for sharing your tips! 🌷

    For those of you that are new to a bowl cozy it is very important to use all 100% cotton everything. I would like to emphasize that your batting needs to be 100% cotton with “no scrim.” FYI, scrim is plastic and cannot be microwaved.

    • @TulipSquare
      @TulipSquare  Год назад

      YES! That is absolutely important for microwaving! That's why we have the big notice in our description, in case anyone missed that in the video! Thanks for the reminder. 🌷

      We toss them in the laundry with our kitchen towels all the time, washer & dryer, with no problem. 👍
