ANOTHER EDIT: I want to let you guys know that I’m not supporting Mojang entirely, nor am I on the community’s side either. All I ever said was that developing minecraft isn’t as easy as developing a mod for Minecraft. You my think that’s they’re the same playing field, but that’s like saying a hobby is the same thing as a job. Modders do modding because they can do it without a care in the world while Mojang is doing their thing because it’s their job, it’s how they keep their lights on, and they have their own players and community breathing down their neck. Im not saying what they’re doing is right, but I’m saying they’re not as bad as people like to claim. EDIT: holy fuck, I didn’t mean to start a war. Are you guys that easy to piss off? Guys, you gotta understand that if Mojang hires a modder, nothings going to change. They have the mod developer from the aether, and he’s not speeding anything up. Also, since this mod was coded in just 7 days, it’s going to have more bugs than most minecraft features.
@@joemama8321 You made a great point there….but I wouldn’t give a huge pass to the April fools updates. From what I’ve heard, a lot of it is them reusing preexisting code. Still, that point you made with the developers is very good!
The mod developer from aether, has sped up the process. He gave us the warden, the only issue is microsoft slamming mojang from adding too much so microsoft can keep "kids" playing, if mojang adds too much to the end like this update, it gets too confusing and kids would quit instead of learning. Microsoft is the limit to minecraft, sad that Notch sold it, but it was for the better
Bro what lol???? Ok sure, arguments can be made for modders being hired wont change anything, but you realise the aether guy wasnt just RECENTLY hired right? He was hired over 4 years ago… yknow, 4 years ago? When one of minecrafts biggest updates to this day was being developed? Literally right before the even bigger caves and cliffs update (at least before other members at mojang delayed & ruined it)? Like.. just assuming hiring people actually talented at this stuff wont change anything is already illogical on its own. But trying to use a guy as evidence; the one guy they hired while making their 2 biggest updates ever.. come on.
I'm not all that interested in minecraft modding, but have been stuck on the idea of wanting to make a game recently. I love watching devlogs but know that they're all people with backgrounds in coding and gamemaking, but this video really made me think that I can give it a try! Knowing you started with practically no knowledge aside from what you wanted, and you ended up with such an incredible mod in a week really inspires me to give game making a try! I'm sure the first few projects I work on won't be all that crazy, but just knowing you can go from no idea what you're doing to making something that looks so legit from a week of hard work makes me think I can at least do something similar (though definitely not in a week, screw that lmao)
I would highly recommend watching a creator called PirateSoftware if you've never heard of him. Specifically, his video titled "Make Video Games", as he goes VERY in-depth about the tools available to you for making games, showing amazing examples of games that feature simpler or "worse" art styles, games that don't have amazing music, and games with horrible code, but many of which still turned out amazing (Such as Undertale, which he describes as well). There are many engines you can choose from, but if you're only looking to do 2D stuff, I'd say to use Gamemaker. People may disagree with me on that choice, but the educational community behind it is incredible and you almost never have to worry about issues such as version control (such as how the specific TerraBlender version in this video caused issues), which are problems you will encounter frequently when following tutorials for most other engines. If you want to do 3D games though, ignore all that. Gamemaker is fully capable of 3D, but the process is more work than it will be worth for a new developer.
That's amazing, just be aware that he didn't "start from nothing", he is familiar with all the coding, he can understand what certain codes do, knows where to search and where to put what he gets, etc... I think It's obvious but don't rush it too much or you'll lose inspiration. That doesn't mean you can't challenge yourself though
Okay, first, add a new purple liquid called "Plasma" and make a biome similar to basalt deltas but less vertical. Add plasma ponds all over the surface. Make a new jellyfish mob that swims in plasma and can be picked up with a bucket to compliment the biome. Maybe make the plasma very cold, giving the player a freezing effect after some time. Also, add another resource that is needed to make enderite, to make the ore more difficult to obtain. Maybe rare silver crystals that stick out from the ground that you need to combine with enderite.
This mod is great and I love having things to do in the End, but I would’ve loved to see completely new concepts on how a dimension can look. This mod uses trees, grass, pillager-like mobs and structures, and very human-inspired temples. It doesn't feel as otherworldly as it could.
Couldn't agree more! I hate it when all modders do is *ooh, glowy forest! heh he* the end is supposed to feel desolate, and alien, like a completely different world, breaking any laws or physics we ever conjured up. Still a really good mod by Whimzee's part tho
They need an end and dungeons update that revamps the end like the nether update and revamps generated structures, making them actually good and fun to explore. Rather than seeing a temple and being like, oh cool, some free garbage. It'll be like, "Oh my gosh, a temple. I can't wait to explore it and do some parkour/puzzles!"
Oh my god this is awesome, finally bowing to kaupenjoe, the alpha and the omega. Really fun to watch you go through the terror that is minecraft modding
Good concept, good soul to the video, good script, good jokes, good detail, good voice acting, and finally great editing and music, all around good video
me when a guy who has to spend half the time figuring out what he's doing can update an entire dimension in 2% of the time it takes an entire dev team to add 1 block
0:10 One issue with that... the end is supposed to be desolate. Yea. Add more ruins and make the end an ancient war zone that would be a solid. Maybe add some ores?
Please stop comparing game devs to modders guys it is objectively harder to make a minecraft update than it is to mod one version of the game Also great job this video is amazing!!
I like endstone. I don't like the idea of calling any block ugly. I've always been of the opinion that... "There are no ugly blocks. Only ugly ways to use them." -PhonyLyzard. Any block can look good, you just need to know how to use it.
@@jc_art_ lapis ore works well in blue-gray gradients, honestly lapis blocks are harder to use because of the bevel combined with the high saturation, thouh that goes for most compacted resource blocks. sponge... ehh i'm sure is possible to make work, but definitely harder. I think you could use it for organics like alien flora, maybe the center of a flower.
as far as the actual game goes, I think Minecraft much more desperately needs a Food Update rather than an End Update. Maybe that could be your next mod? lol. Great work by the way!

i feel like mojang should've used the sculk blocks in the end. sculk blocks are similar in color to prismarine, so they look nice. if you ask me, sculk catalysts look like something from the end :)
You explain the struggles and pain of game modification well. I've given up many times because I get stuck. Thanks for sharing your struggles and successes
That's bc minecraft makes desicions in a financial way over a community way, they have many investors that if they don't make the best financial desicion they're out, And it sucks to play a game which doesn't care that much about its community, but that's not going to stop me from playing it.
@iwocytawa5746 there are many ways to make money from it other than locking behind a pay wall...not only is it illegal to straight up charge for a mod unless it's being sold by the creator of the game it also goes against the spirit of modding. There are tons of people out there who would very much enjoy to share in the experience but don't have the money for a subscription.
Ideas for part 2 of the update: •In film called ''damsel'' there is a scene in a cave there are blue hanging bugs from the celling, maybe you could use that •a new weapom, that could be a scythe, which you can teleport with while battle, also use to fighting •End forest that could consist towering trees in black colour and hanging purple wines. In the end forest there would be also chorus plants. Maybe also an entity like end moths?
I think that what many fail to realise is that Mojang would love to add many things to Minecraft, but is majorly held back by Microsoft, since they want to preserve the timeless gem of a game they got in their hands. You can clearly see this with the last April Fool's version, with the amount of work that went into it. Also, this might just be hearsay but there was a comment of a Mojang employee's friend, who explained what I've stated above.
@@Dni-smm-old that's the point of what an April fools update is. They are ment to be shits and giggles. It's okay they don't bother to test and do quality control checks. And retextured things.
@@penguinpingu3807 "you can clearly see this with the last april fool's version with the amount of work that went into it" i was telling the original commenter that they're wrong
@@Dni-smm-old I'm talking about the features they added. Like the hook, a boss, the block that makes things FLY Perhaps we could've gotten some of these things in the past
@@_raptor4070 those features are also not playtested at all. the boss barely works, the hook might be in a future update, but it's not even close to finished and the floatater is the most broken block in the game, both as in it's way to strong and as in it literally doesn't work sometimes. have you even tried to use and understand it? they are (probably) making fun of community suggestions and people wanting more content every month with this update. why else would they have added a grapling hook, a new dimension (retextured aether mod which was originally made by a mojang employee) and a new boss
To putting a price tag on a mod or gatekeeping it with a paid subscription is a crime. Specifically for Minecraft, not all games but Minecraft has a policy for that.
Remember, it’s never immoral to pirate a mod when some RUclipsr tries to swoop in and make what was once a community about sharing content for free, a market where they can make money. If you want money for your mod, put it on Mojang’s approved marketplace (which is awful lmao). Don’t make our mod community like the marketplace. Keep money out of it.
Yes. Pirating a mod is fine. This mod is against the EULA, so if you wanna put it in a mod pack for free, you’re morally okay to do so because people like this guy are ruining the Minecraft modding scene by insisting it’s a market to make money in rather than a community for sharing art. It is always okay to pirate Minecraft mods. Mojang doesn’t allow paid mods anyway lmao
I don't remember ever seeing someone make an animated texture on a entity in Minecraft. If you wanted to add the fire effects you would have probably going to make it items held by the Blasting which can use fire animations.
@@dhans9662 I think they contemplate what they put in the game very much. I don't think that makes the developers and programmers "lazy". Also, I've never really felt entitled to updates to begin with. "Minecraft hasn't updated in months!". I don't see the big deal?
I know that this is definitely not happening but imagine Mojang (this whole time) was working on an insanely huge update and drops like 50 gigabytes of insane additions
Do this for free, Mojang doesn't like mods to be paid for. You could be sued or face issues like the creator of the physics mod, who had to make his paid version (Patreon) free to avoid problems
An idea I've had for the end for a while now is acid/sludge. Neon green and able to be placed like water or lava, swimmable but toxic after a prolonged period of time

Hey minecraft, write that down
The amount of end updates made by community members really makes you think about why hey haven't done it, maybe they're leaving it to mods.
It's most likely due to Minecrafts lore. The End was once a thriving ecosystem (see Minecraft Dungeons) but once the Ancient Builders came along (and transformed into Endermen) they eradicated the ecosystem over millenia.
But I'd still like to see a smaller end update where they tweak some smaller things. But big changes are unlikely.
with the trash performance the game has on the newer versions, I'd say they do a terrible job at it🤣
@@kinu4087 yeah the optimization in mc is... definitely something

THIRD EDIT: alright, I really need help here. Which side am I meant to be on here? I want an objective answer of what to think of this game. Im so damn tired of two sides bickering constantly and I’m tired of being stuck on one side. Should I like or hate Minecraft?
Also, since this mod was coded in just 7 days, it’s going to have more bugs than most minecraft features.
mojangs developers are limited heavily, they can only work on a few things a year. Thats why april fools update are so well made
@@joemama8321
You made a great point there….but I wouldn’t give a huge pass to the April fools updates. From what I’ve heard, a lot of it is them reusing preexisting code. Still, that point you made with the developers is very good!
@@joemama8321April fools is non parity and buggy. Literally the 2 most time consuming aspects of Minecraft’s development are excluded.
BRO MY CRAPPY END UPDATE MOD APPEARED ON THE GOOGLE SEARCH AT THE BEGGINING: 0:40
2:55 I feel like this represents me discovering the power of modding really well. Its so nice just having all this stuff that you can just do now
Okay, first, add a new purple liquid called "Plasma" and make a biome similar to basalt deltas but less vertical.
I ABSOLUTELY respect you for using OG Dragon Ball footage. It's really underrated. You've earned a sub!
@@dannithealmond-milkboy5738definitely. I think this mod was more about technical development then producing an artistic/well designed experience.
I am so happy that you are always encouraging people to learn and create things in minecraft. Keep up the amazing work!

Bro makes a better update in 7 days than Minecraft is 1 year
That's bc minecraft makes desicions in a financial way over a community way, they have many investors that if they don't make the best financial desicion they're out, And it sucks to play a game which doesn't care that much about its community, but that's not going to stop me from playing it.
Also mojang was stupid enough to have 2 different games with 2 different coding languages where not everything is compatible

Mods locked behind a pay wall? Thats just wrong
Not to mention it's against the EULA
Why Patreon
@GGbro2024 could still use patron for other exclusive services or content that don't just destroy the spirit of mods but isn't illegal
God forbid someone wants to benefit from their hours of work
@iwocytawa5746 there are many ways to make money from it other than locking behind a pay wall...not only is it illegal to straight up charge for a mod unless it's being sold by the creator of the game it also goes against the spirit of modding. There are tons of people out there who would very much enjoy to share in the experience but don't have the money for a subscription.
IM SO GLAD WHIMZEE MDAE AN END UPDATE!
Ideas for part 2 of the update:
•In film called ''damsel'' there is a scene in a cave there are blue hanging bugs from the celling, maybe you could use that
•a new weapom, that could be a scythe, which you can teleport with while battle, also use to fighting
•End forest that could consist towering trees in black colour and hanging purple wines. In the end forest there would be also chorus plants. Maybe also an entity like end moths?
I think that what many fail to realise is that Mojang would love to add many things to Minecraft, but is majorly held back by Microsoft, since they want to preserve the timeless gem of a game they got in their hands.
You can clearly see this with the last April Fool's version, with the amount of work that went into it.

they are (probably) making fun of community suggestions and people wanting more content every month with this update. why else would they have added a grapling hook, a new dimension (retextured aether mod which was originally made by a mojang employee) and a new boss
What Mojang could make if their employees worked more than 10 minutes a week

Putting the mod behind your patreon therefore expecting revenue out of it is against Minecrafts EULA kinda scummy
To putting a price tag on a mod or gatekeeping it with a paid subscription is a crime. Specifically for Minecraft, not all games but Minecraft has a policy for that.
It’s not a crime lol but it is against the EULA. It’s not illegal
i love the shulker box shrine, where there can be either loot or live shulker!
Hey so I noticed this is on patreon, as a modpack dev would it be alright to include this in something or no
